Vacation rentals with a kayak in Mississippi River

This is not the first time I have stayed at Platypus and look forward to my next stay. Danielle etal made me feel comfortable with the beautiful surroundings, peace and quiet, delightful pool and promised amenities. Will be reserving 2026 dates as soon as possible!

My husband and I, along with our two younger children, absolutely loved our stay! Gayla and Steve go above and beyond to make the home welcoming, having absolutely everything you could think of that you might need, and then some. We had a minor issue after arriving, but we quickly received a response after reaching out, and things were resolved in a timely matter. Additionally, they checked in with us a couple of days later to make sure things were still going well. The view from the back deck is beautiful and my kids loved eating every meal either on the deck or from inside the screened-in porch/sunroom. It was the perfect location for us to make day trips to Eureka Springs and Branson, and we loved going back "home" each night to peaceful surroundings after busy days. Having the water so close for the kids to practice fishing and splash around in was a great bonus. Highly recommend and we would love to visit again!

My family had the best time staying at this house! We had 4 adults and 2 kids (5 and 8 years old). The house itself is beautiful. It looks newly built. We’re a big fishing family and having the dock right there was a huge bonus for us. The water was still a bit too cold to swim, but that didn’t stop the kiddos! They had a blast. The house has extra life jackets, fishing poles, and has kayaks! I know there’s some comments about the neighborhood looking rough compared to the beautiful home being rented, but the neighborhood wasn’t bad at all. We didn’t have any issues with the neighbors. I consider it just a normal “lake property” where there’s a mix of homes, RVs, trailers, etc. It didn’t bother us one bit. Thomas was quick to respond if we had a question. Everywhere we ate was delicious. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway, I highly recommend staying here. We will definitely stay here again.

Can't recommend this place enough. Serene surroundings overlooking the river; watching the barges float by and fish jump was the perfect way to relax. Between the deck, patio, and lower patio, there was always a place to sit and take in the view. Bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, and location was 15-20 minutes from anything you could need in Peoria. Can't wait to return!

Anna was friendly and responsive from the get-go. We were in town a couple of days and had a very comfortable stay. She did warn us about traffic due to construction in the area, but even with the construction we were able to find our way easily. Very cute little place!

This was a great place to celebrate my MIL’s 60th birthday. It was in a quiet, family friendly area. The house is exactly what we needed!

Cannot say enough good things about this property. Perfect spot to relax and unwind. Hosts were very responsive to any questions or concerns we might have. The welcome pie was wonderful.

I wish I could give 10 out of 5 stars. This was absolutely the best vacation myself and my fiancé could have asked for. From swimming in the lake, fishing, grilling, making s’mores by the fire, or just relaxing in the house at night. We never wanted to leave! Tamara and Robert were excellent hosts, the house was stocked with every amenity we could ask for, and the lake was a beautiful temperature all week. I really can’t express enough how perfect of a stay this was. We are definitely considering coming back sooner than later!

Clean, cozy, and felt just like home with its own unique character. Great location and an excellent host — super responsive and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

Christopher was very nice and very helpful. He is very quick to respond to any questions or needs. The cabin was exactly as described and the area was very quiet and peaceful. We had an excellent stay.

Enjoyed our stay at Vanessa’a lake house. It was absolutely beautiful inside and out. We enjoyed the hot tub and watching the wildlife in area. This place is the perfect spot if you’re looking to check out the hot springs as well.

Our stay at the cabin was super peaceful and wonderful! Me and my boyfriend had such a relaxing weekend and were able to catch a couple fish at the beautiful lake. We had a slight issue with the Jon boat but James and his wife took care of it immediately. We will definitely be coming back!

The Lighthouse Lakehouse was very cute and cozy. It was so peaceful eating my breakfast on the deck every morning - staring out at the water and listening to the sounds of nature. If you want tranquility, this place is it. My teens enjoyed paddleboarding on the lake each evening. We spent the majority of our time at the AirBnb, but also enjoyed scenic hikes to nearby waterfalls and touring Blanchard Springs Caverns. It was the perfect start to our summer.

Beautiful home. Nice and private, but close enough to everything we needed. The kayaks and lake were the best part for our kids!

Thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Large amount of land for setting up badminton net, croquet and throwing around a football. Enjoyed fishing, swimming, the kayaks and paddle boat that were on the properties. Lake was very peaceful and 150 year old house was great with lot's of nice personal touches inside. Thank you so much Steve and Erin for a great weekend stay.

This place was perfect for me and my husband. Quiet and cozy little cabin even though other cabins are close to it. always have bird feed. You will a goose and 2 ducks visit often for a snack. Go out and explore, there are some absolutely gorgeous natural surroundings. Justus has some amazing suggestions and he was right. Would love to come back for a longer visit. Thank you

My boyfriend and I had such a great time at the Naturalist Boudoir Cabins—we honestly didn’t want to leave! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Mr. Ron greeted us and was incredibly kind and helpful, giving us a quick tour and making sure we had everything we needed. Alina, the owner, was also amazing—very communicative and full of helpful tips and suggestions for things to do during our stay. The whole experience was relaxing, thoughtful, and just what we needed. We’ll definitely be back!

The cabin was just as described and equipped with all we could need! I really appreciated the cabin being dog-friendly, and they included even a stake for the dogs to run around on tethers while we were outside. The view was gorgeous and the cabin as cozy as could be - I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Our stay was truly special and exactly what we were hoping for to celebrate our anniversary. The cabin was not only just as described, but it had an extra warmth and charm that made it feel like home. It was the perfect mix of comfort, peacefulness, and beautiful scenery—ideal for unwinding and spending quality time together. What really made the experience stand out, though, was Kevin’s hospitality. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great time—he even lent us one of his fishing poles and gave us a quick lesson, which meant a lot to us as first-timers. That kind of thoughtfulness made the trip even more memorable. We’re so glad we chose this place to celebrate, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. Thank you Kevin!

The place was absolutely great for what we were wanting to do! It is centrally located to several areas we were interested in. There are several good restaurants close by and the Spring River is just a short drive. We really enjoyed the paddle boat out on the beautiful little lake and even managed to catch a nice mess of crappie! I would definitely recommend this beautiful little A-frame to anyone who wants to visit the area.

We enjoyed our stay at Pam’s cabin to the hilt! Lovely home on a beautifully wooded property. Super comfortable—the showers, beds, kitchen, living room—everything felt good. We spent a good deal of time on the deck each morning with our coffee, listening to the birds. This home was such a treat—we hope to return soon!

Jay was very friendly and made us feel at home. Will stay again soon. So peaceful and the view was amazing.
