Dry cabins off grid are still very common - and they offer a real sense of how well one can live without all of the modern amenities we have come to view as "essential". For a truly peaceful and lovely Alaskan retreat that is just about a 20 minute drive from Anchorage - this is the place to stay. The gardens and surrounding mountains with the nearby Bird Creek provides a wonderful setting. Joan is a wonderful host - especially if you are curious and interested in the various ways people live and thrive in Alaska.

We loved our stay at the cottage. The space is comfortable and the kitchen has all that is needed to cook small meals. The bed is comfortable and you can’t have a better view of the bay. Jordin and Trina are very accommodating and ready to respond to any questions.

We really enjoyed our time at this air b&b. It was perfect for a couple looking for a place to stay that feels secluded but close enough for surrounding activities. Beautiful view right from the bed! If we’re around in the future, I’d book this place again.
