Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. We had a lovely stay in Icy's traditional Japanese house. The location is excellent, quiet but well connected to all major transport within walking distance. The house is quite spacious - we had lots of room for the 4 of us. Everything was super-well equipped, including even washing machine detergent, bathroom amenities and really everything. Overall super pleasant stay in a traditional setting and even a fish pond which they kids loved. One watchout (as with any other Japanese place I think) are the steep staircases - we had no issue with them, but could be an issue for older travelers or very young kids.

这次在京都的旅行非常愉快，最重要的一部分就是住在了这家温馨又便利的民宿！房子位于一个安静的街区，离京都站步行十几分钟，附近还有便利店和小餐馆，出行和生活都非常方便。房间干净整洁，布置得很用心，小细节也体现了主人的用心与审美——比如香薰、拖鞋、厨房小物等都让人感觉像在家一样舒适。浴室水压很足，热水充足；床铺柔软好睡，一天下来真的能好好休息。特别要感谢房东的贴心与耐心，在入住前就主动发来了详细的交通指南和注意事项，中日双语信息让我们省了很多事。退房时我们因为赶行程比较匆忙，房东也非常理解和包容，真的非常感谢！下次来京都，还会想再住这里，也会推荐给朋友！💖

Loved the beautiful tub that looked into a garden - kids really enjoyed using it. Slept comfortably. Having 2 bathrooms was nice. We frequented an awesome bakery in a nearby hotel lobby for breakfast.

We had a wonderful stay at this spacious house, perfect for our group of 5 adults and 1 baby. My husband and I chose the tatami-style room to sleep with our baby, and it was a cozy and special experience. The house is located near the lakeside and close to the train tracks, a bit of a distance from town, but that wasn’t an issue for us as we had rented a car. We also made good use of the kitchen and even enjoyed a late-night supper together. Everything was clean, well-equipped, and comfortable. Overall, it was a great experience, and we truly enjoyed our stay here!

The place is as described in a quiet neighborhood, good for walking around to appreciate the beautiful flowers in front of some houses. There are grocery stores within ~20 mins walk downhill to a main street of the area. It was very helpful to have a pick up and drop off to the subway station services by the owner.
