It's a very calm space with abundant nature, no car noise or loud sounds, and a private garden. You can enjoy a very rare open fire and a BBQ outdoors.The room has a firewood stove! (Winter only) There is a gazebo in the garden, and if there is no wind, you can have a BBQ even on rainy days. There is a Fire TV Stick! A BBQ stove and charcoal (3 kg) are provided at the listing, so you can enjoy a BBQ if you bring your own ingredients. We can accommodate up to 5 people. If you drop the firewood, you can enjoy an open fire! You can see the ropeway of Hakodateyama ski resort from the room. The inn overlooks the forest in a quiet villa area. You can even set up a tent to practice camping and enjoy a BBQ! The interior varies depending on the season. Local priority. It's in the countryside, and there are always insects because the mountains are close by. It is not suitable for people who dislike insects, those with small children, or those who are concerned. We cannot accept people who want to make noise or use the space for parties, or groups of minors who want to smoke or drink. ⚠️ There is a fence against harmful animals around the villa, so there is no risk of damage from bears. Monkeys will not approach you, but please do not leave food or trash outside.

The operator of the guest house has changed as of August 2026.Please note that the services, house rules, etc. are slightly different for repeat guests. We renovated a 2-story storehouse built in the Edo period and turned it into a guest house. Although it is not spacious, a kitchen with an IH cooking heater has been set up on the first floor, while retaining the atmosphere of a traditional storehouse with earthen walls and thick beams.Fully air-conditioned on the 1st and 2nd floors for a comfortable stay.You can experience the sound insulation, the coolness of the summer, and the warmth of winter. There is a sauna facility about 5 minutes away by car, Anekawa Onsen about 15 minutes away, and Kita-Omi-no-Yu about 20 minutes away. There are many sightseeing spots unique to Nagahama, which are often the setting of history. In addition to the area around Lake Biwa, Japan's oldest railway station building, Nagahama Railway Square, Yanmar Museum where children can play, Kurobai Square, and other activities other than history. You can also enjoy gourmet food such as Omi beef, duck dishes, grilled mackerel somen, noppei udon, salad, bread, duck, and small ayu.

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

YAMANOTE HOUSE is accessible from major Kansai stations with 37min from Kyoto Sta. or 65min from Osaka Sta. If you come by car from Kyoto it takes less than 1 hour. The area aournd the house is once small castle town. The house is located next to the Shrine, Hiyoshi-Jinja, where the Omizo Festival is held on May 3 and 4 every year.
