Nordic Mountain Cabin Takashima | Near Lake Biwa, Campfire, Sunset, Stunning Mountain Views

This is a private rental accommodation in a secluded setting surrounded by nature. Time passes slowly, and every moment quietly lingers in your heart. A rural landscape unfolds before your eyes, and beyond it stretches a beautiful view of Mt. Hakkasan. From the deck surrounded by flowers, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset over the mountains. Enjoy a BBQ while listening to the sounds of nature In the evening, gather around the campfire, roast marshmallows, and enjoy a relaxing time under the starry sky. [House Story] This house was born out of my childhood dream of living in a Nordic home.It all started with my longing for a cozy cabin like the ones in stories and for the tranquility of nature. After living in Sweden and New Zealand, I returned to Japan and, together with my husband, Andy, took over a cabin that was scheduled for demolition just one month later. This house was carefully renovated by my wife and me, one detail at a time, like a work of art. It has been transformed to harmonize with the beautiful natural surroundings of this place, embodying the Nordic philosophy that values connection with nature. 4 km to Lake Biwa (Imazuhama) 1 km to a convenience store (Lawson) Large supermarket (Heiwa-do) is 10 minutes by car It is a 15-minute drive to the Metasequoia tree-lined street

Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Omi's Machiya "Kado" Traditional building preservation area

This is the only guest house (entire house rental) facing Shinmachi Street in an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. The streets lined with merchants' houses, built in the late Edo period to the Meiji era, give you a strange feeling as if time has stopped when you step into it. This Shinmachi neighborhood is important not only for its scenery but also as a historical site. This is a very rare accommodation where you can stay in such an area.
