Warm and Welcoming Craftsman Near Tranquil Woodland Park

Charming, traditional, and century-old, this Craftsman has been meticulously restored and tastefully furnished. Settle in the comfy living room, or in the cozy den, on the timeless porch, or on one of three patios and decks in the backyard for a moment of calm. A true home away from home in a peaceful, family neighborhood. Minutes from downtown Seattle, there are also plenty of walkable amenities nearby. Access to mass transit is ample. The Craftsman is the quintessential style of a Seattle house. Ours is a full-size Craftsman with a true second floor. It has been my family's home for more than a decade, and we've renovated and polished it up over the years. Now that the nest is empty, we're doing a lot of traveling, and sharing the home for guests to enjoy. We've removed all of our personal items, leaving behind only what you'll need for your stay. You won't see our clothes or our personal clutter. The closets, the dresser drawers, the medicine cabinets are yours and will be empty. The linens are used only by guests, not us. We don't want you to feel like you're staying in someone else's home. To accomplish this, we've sealed off two rooms in the house, where we we will keep all our personal effects. You will have use of almost all the rooms on both floors. Your space includes the living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, den/spare bedroom, two full bathrooms, and three upstairs bedrooms. You can also book the basement apartment and use all three levels of the house (more on that in a minute). There will be one bedroom on the main floor and one bedroom on the upper floor that will be locked (one is used as an office, the other a bedroom). Luckily we have a total of six bedrooms, so there's plenty left for guests. One of the closets upstairs will also be locked. These rooms are where we're keeping all of our personal stuff so that it's out of your way. This will also be where we primarily live when we're home so we're not messing up guest space. About that basement apartment: There is also a two-bedroom unit (Woodland Park Suite on Airbnb) on the basement level. When you stay in the house, there might be other guests staying in the suite below you. It has its own entrance and is completely separate from the house. We also might use it occasionally if it's empty and the main house is booked. You can also book the basement with the house and have all three levels to use. That would give you a total of 5/6 bedrooms and three bathrooms. For that matter, if you'd like even MORE space, you can also book our detached studio off the backyard (Workshop Studio on Airbnb). It has a queen bed and 3/4-bath, and kitchenette. That would give you up to 7 bedrooms and four baths. As for the main house, here's what you'll get: A master bedroom with a king bed, another bedroom with a queen bed, and a third bedroom with two twin beds. Those are all upstairs and adjacent to a five-piece bath, with shower, claw-foot tub, and two sinks. On the main floor is the living room, dining room with seating for 6-8, full kitchen with a Wolf range, side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water dispenser, dishwasher, toaster, coffee grinder and coffee maker, washer and a dryer. There is another full bathroom on the main floor with a combination claw-foot tub/shower and two pedestal sinks. Off the kitchen is a den with sectional sofa and TV. You can also use it as a bedroom, as we will provide a queen-size Aerobed. The front porch and back porch are all yours. There is a gas grill on the back deck, as well as a small table and chairs. When you stay at the house, you might see other guests (from the basement suite or the studio) coming and going, although I wouldn't be surprised if you never did. The other guests enter their units through the back yard. You'll enter through the front door. We use the "August Home" smartlock app to give guests access to the house. You'll be sharing the back yard with other guests, although I'd say most of the time, guests are out enjoying the city and aren't hanging out in the backyard. There is a wood deck and pergola in the back with a dining table and chairs. There is also a stone patio on the west side of the house with more seating and a small table. All guests are welcome to use any of those spaces; it's first come first serve. The front and back porches, however, are for your use exclusively. Whether I'm in town or not, I'll always make myself available for questions and troubleshooting during your stay. The house is just a short walk from several of the city's most popular restaurants, two great coffee shops, a wine shop, several bars, a grocery store, and Green Lake, one of the city's most-used parks. The Woodland Park Zoo and the Rose Garden are across the street. The tony neighborhoods of Ballard, Wallingford, Fremont, Phinney Ridge, and Greenwood are within a few miles, and the major attractions of downtown Seattle are only 10 minutes away by car or bus. Having a car is a practical option here. It's easy enough to get around and park and you'll cover more ground. You will have one, off-street spot, and ample street parking. The bus system is also quite good in our neighborhood. There is an express bus (The E Line RapidRide) that stops five blocks away on Aurora Avenue and pretty much goes straight downtown. You can also catch the No. 5 bus four blocks away to get downtown; it is almost as fast as the express bus. The No. 44 bus is also four blocks away and goes west to Ballard, and east to the University of Washington. Do keep in mind that while the main house is all yours, other guests (or me) might be staying below you in the basement suite. The soundproofing is good but not perfect. You might hear them; they might hear you, so just exercise common sense and be courteous about noise and loud footsteps. We ask that guests do not wear shoes in the house - this both cuts down on noise, and it keeps the floors cleaner. We've always been a shoe-less household. In addition to the basement suite, there is a detached studio off the back yard where more guests might be staying. Yes, it's a lively little compound at times, all the more reason I want to emphasize that while we can and are happy to accommodate large groups, we need everyone to be respectful, courteous, tranquil guests. If you're looking to really let your hair down and whoop it up, I applaud you and envy you...but if that's the case, ours is not the place to book. We live in a dense, urban neighborhood and we expect all guests to be mindful and conscientious about the comfort of other guests and neighbors.

Apartment in Queen Anne

Walk to Space Needle Vintage View with King Bed

Take in great views from the terrace of this chic property, which also offers luxury beds with feather toppers. There's beautiful detailing as well, from the spiral staircase and hardwood floors to the rich dark wood of the dining tables and chairs. Welcome to the Queen Anne Hideaway. Your home away from home is a two level unit in an incredible vintage Queen Anne landmark home. Your apartment has been beautifully furnished, luxury beds with feather toppers, view decks, and all the details you need to make your stay perfect. Our apartment has two official bedroom (walls not shared) with one queen bed and one king. An additional sleeping nook has two twin beds perfect for kids or additional guests. We have plenty of free on street parking as well as two driveway spaces that you may use anytime they are free. The kitchen is stocked for all your cooking needs. You will find all the condiments and extras on hand necessary, including coffee and creamer (priority uno). We will do our very best to make your stay enjoyable at a price that makes it affordable to visit Seattle again in the future. Many of you like the ability to check in early, which is possible when the guests prior text me to say they have vacated (often guests leave before the 11AM check out time which allows me to get a early start on the cleaning). Guest will have access to our parking/driveway, view decks, and all the advice a person could want about Seattle eating and drinking! We use a keyless entry system to make things super easy on in and out. It's your trip, just pay your money and take good care of the apartment and the rest is up to you. I am here if you need me via text, however, I'm often times not on site. This well-located home is only two blocks away from the famous 'Frasier' view. The top of Queen Anne is an historic and very walkable area, with great vistas. There are also plentiful bars, cafes, bookstores, salons, tea shops, and eateries. Directions: 421 WEST Galer Street Seattle WA 98119 (5th West and Galer) My cell- text anytime (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) **If you text me when you check out I can keep the early check ins paying forward to the next guest. We are a three story victorian with a massively overgrown hedge on the Galer side and a driveway on the very wide 5th West side of the street. There are two driveway spots and street parking. Please use anything that is available. Transportation: If you aren’t planning on renting a car (not necessary in my mind) we have some great options. Airport/Car Service: ABC Transport (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) This car service is the most reliable, safest, most affordable way to get to the airport. Steve will answer a call 24/7 and could not be nicer. The airport is a flat $35 (tip not included) to and from Seatac. The cars are huge old town cars and very safe drivers. They are absolutely always on time both coming and going, and the extra trunk space for suit cases is great. It is CHEAPER to use this service than to take a cab and they know my location. I know that some of you are taking side trips once you arrive. ABC does transportation to many places so it is worth a call to see talk over your plans. Around Seattle: UBER CAR SERVICE The Uber app connects you to a driver at the tap of a button. Once the app is installed on your phone you can pull up a map to see the cars in your area. When you install the app you will put in your payment information. Once ready for a car simply pull up the app, drop a pin at your location, and wait for a car in the area to confirm they will pick you up. You will get a text message with your drivers name and photo as well as an estimated time to pick up. You can watch the car on the map make their way over to you. It’s very slick! You can choose between the fancy new town car or SUV (fun for weddings or special events), Hybrid Vehicle (unmarked but manned by a taxi driver), or lastly a citizen’s car (marked by a furry pink mustache). The citizen car is the cheapest route, but don’t worry….the driver and the cars have been vetted with background checks on both the driver and the car (which must be 5 years young or less, clean, and safe). There is no exchange of cash or tipping since that’s all included in your prior setup of the account. I’ve found it to be very affordable depending on which car level you choose - and so dang simple anyone can use it! I’m unaware of the car seat installation policy if you have young ones, however, I recommend this service and use it personally several times a month. DO NOT take Uber to the airport as will cost you a fortune. BUS: There is a bus stop right in front of our home that will take you directly downtown. If you want to find a specific destination Metro has a trip planner that can be helpful for busing to any location in Seattle. WALKING: Seattle is a great city for walking. The walk downtown is easy going down (we are at the tipity top of Queen Anne Hill about 2 blocks from the famous Fraiser skyline view) but the walk back can be a thigh burner. On top of Queen Anne we do have multiple great dining options as well as a Trader Joes (best grocery store ever and so cheap) just just a few blocks away, parks, pools, cafes, nail shops, and bars Please be light footed early in the morning and late at night as to not disturb the family that resides below. Old houses are notoriously loud and delicate! We will do our very best to make your stay enjoyable at a price that makes it affordable to visit Seattle again in the future. I hope that you respect and care for The Hideaway as your own in order to help us continue to provide incredible lodging at a fraction of hotel prices.
