Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Hawaii

We had a wonderful 7 day stay. Our 3 boys (16, 13, and 10) spent hours on the diving board and in the pool. Sandra’s place had everything we needed for beach trips, including beach chairs, wagon, umbrella, cooler and beach towels. I was so happy to have a washing machine to wash out the sandy towels and suits after our beach trips. It was a 5-10 minute trip for Costco,-target and Walmart and a 30-40 minute trip to Hāpuna Beach (don’t miss the Malsada stand on the highway on your way). We would come back to the house to cook supper, swim more in the pool, and watch the sunset from the beautiful yard. We also got a lot of use out of the basketball net in the driveway, and volleyball net in the side yard. Sandra was extremely helpful with all aspects of our stay, including local recommendations. Would definitely stay again if on the Big Island!

We loved our stay! The location was easy to find and private. The house was spotless and had everything we needed for our vacation. The breakfast each morning was a great way to start the day. Pamela was very helpful and responsive.

My wife and I spent four nights in the penthouse unit of Jenn and Kristian’s beautiful home. We loved our time there. The unit was in good condition and comfortably furnished and the private rooftop terrace was perfect for early morning stargazing.

We loved the space, everything was as advertised, the home was even better in person. Clean, well supplied with everything we need to make our meals. The outdoor showers were so nice after a long day of sightseeing. Thank you Jessica for making our stay enjoyable.

We were all very happy with the Airbnb. It was as expected and the hosts were very informative and got back to us really quick with any questions we had. The whole place was beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen is really big and fully stocked with everything you need to prepare and cook any meal. We will definitely stay there again, if they will have us. We stayed 5 nights here without issue. It seems as though the hot water issue in the shower is fixed as we had no problems at all. We loved the privacy of the place- while still being within 30min of Hilo! Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway to the big island!

This is a great spot for an inexpensive isolated trip on the south side of Hilo. It is quite a hike out in some deep rooted areas of the big island. Interesting group of people that reside in this area. It was a great experience separating away from society and connecting with nature. Stargazing was amazing, peacefulness was excellent but it was very far from a lot of activities which made it difficult to make plans and traveling to other places.

Beautiful place, so comfortable and a real generous feeling to it all. Better than I expected even! Amazing activities and meals within 15 minutes. Hope to return for a longer stay soon

Great stay and we would’ve booked for a longer trip for this Airbnb but our family provided for the rest of our stay. My partner and I enjoyed all the amenities especially since we had our baby with us. Besides the beautiful view and the thought out room design. It really made a difference with everything provided from the kitchen, parking, even the amenities for the beach. Jayden and his team were very responsive. We had kindly asked to check in early which I was hoping for and felt so grateful to have been accommodated because traveling with a baby is literally the Olympics. I truly appreciate him and his team!! I definitely would recommend this airbnb to my friends, family, and to the person who is reading this review!!

We had a great stay. The place is cozy, has a great view and amenities and supplies. It is in great location, close enough to everything in waikiki but away enough to not deal with the busy and louder areas. Great host who was very informative, accomodating, detailed and gave alot of recommendations.

Super clean, excellent and pristine furniture. The garden and the surrounding were fascinating. I was surprised to learn that we're allowed to use the barbecue grill and the bon fire but unfortunately had little time to use as there are a lot of things to do at the Big Island. Hopefully next time! Thanks for the beautiful stay!

Maurie was awesome, and the place was great! Absolutely worth the price, and she was always responsive with helpful tips to make my first Hawaii trip even better. The place was perfect for what I wanted to do, very clean and with the amenities advertised. This was an amazing place. I wish we had stayed here longer. The space is immaculate, spacious, inviting, peaceful, and absolutely beautiful! Joyce was an incredible host who went above and beyond. Very close to town (beaches, restaurants, and tours). It’s in a suburban neighborhood, but feels remote and is very quiet and private. We will definitely stay here when we return to Hilo!

We had an amazing stay! The apartment was so spacious, tastefully decorated and very clean. We loved watching the horses from the lanai and having Buddy the dog greet us everyday when we arrived back. We felt like we had the best spot on the island to watch the sunset. The sounds of the coqui frogs at sunset was absolutely amazing and so relaxing to fall asleep to. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped for self catering and it was really helpful having some things in the cupboards like spices, oil, syrup, etc. We were so sorry when it was time for us to leave!

Loved staying here! Its a really beautiful space and Miho was very responsive and friendly. The area is beautiful and has so much to do. We would definitely stay here again!

This place is such a steal! Great price and in walking distance from the beach and a bunch of great restaurants. Take’s food recommendations were so good and we had an amazing time. Best part was coming home to the nice AC set to the perfect temp after a day in the sun! Highly recommend :)

Incredible location with unforgettable views and your very own black sand beach to go walk on down the street. Do yourself a favor though and check the Hāna Kai resort page and see if it might be cheaper to book direct. Try some poi with tuna jerky, meet some locals. Don’t stay at the Hyatt

This place was absolutely AMAZING! We came here for our honeymoon and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. It was clean, cozy, and chill. It’s a great location close to the beach and decently close to town provided you have means to transportation. Sharon communicated accurately, sent all of the info we needed ahead of time, and was quick to respond when we needed her. Couldn’t recommend this place more! We’d love to try to come back someday.

Highly recommend this condo! The views were amazing and every time we walked in the door it was a treat! Endless blue ocean views. The hosts were always responsive. The only drawback was some construction noise from a nearby highrise but otherwise it was quiet. We will be back!

My husband and I stayed here for part 2 of our honeymoon trip. It was everything we could’ve asked for and more! Such a beautiful space and wonderful location!

Melissa's place in Kapalua delivered exactly what was promised. The location is perfect for exploring this beautiful area of Maui, and the property matched the listing description completely. Melissa was excellent to work with - she responded quickly to messages and kept communication clear throughout our stay. Kapalua is an incredible spot on the island, and this rental gave us the ideal base to enjoy everything the area offers. We'd definitely book with Melissa again.

Katy and Dan were great host. Great communication and very responsive. Their home was clean and in great proximity to beaches and restaurants. We were traveling with two young children so it was a bit more of a walk with them but just a short drive otherwise. It’s had a great peek-a-boo view of the ocean and a lush garden view.

The location and view can't really be beat here! We've been to Waikiki a couple of times and Eleanor's place has been our favourite accommodation. We travelled with our toddler and made the screen doors work for nap time. The location meant we could walk everywhere we wanted to go really easily and we enjoyed the beach and the two Ilikai pools. Loved the coffee shop downstairs too. The kitchen was well equipped and the bed was comfortable. Loved spending the evenings on the lanai watching the busy beach and catching glimpses of the Hilton's luau. We also had a great view of the fireworks which miraculously didn't wake the baby!
