Farmstay vacation rentals in Hawaii

Kerinne and Mike’s guest house was perfect for our long weekend stay. This quick trip was all about Hawaii Volcanoes National Park as we hoped to catch Episode 23 of Kīlauea’s ongoing eruption. We’d no longer gotten back to the hose and settled in, when Kīlauea started fountaining again. We raced back to the park and were never so glad to have chosen a location so close to the park as traffic was backed up for miles headed to the park when we were leaving. While the house is a little difficult to find at night, Mike was on the lookout for us and flagged us down and Kerrine’s directions ensured we were in the vicinity for Mike to see us. Friendly animals were a nice bonus! Would recommend this guest house to anyone wanting to stay near the park.

Cozy spot with a beautiful yard. Loved sitting on the porch and playing with the dog. Too comfortable beds. Very welcoming and friendly hosts. Highly recommended.

Fantastic stay - best place to stay on the Big Island! What an amazing location, with a fantastic view! Private and relaxing, looking out onto coffee trees and the ocean. The place is everything that's promised and more. Great kitchen for cooking dinner if you don't feel like going out, an amazing outdoor shower, a GIANT TV for the times you want to just relax, and outdoor space that's private and tranquil. Everyone I communicated with was immediately responsive, and had suggestions for places to go (especially coffee farms), and responded very quickly. I can't recommend this place enough - we may be coming back again and staying here if it's available again! PS - the frogs: some people may love them, some may not like the noise. I didn't mind them at all at night, and had a white noise app in case they were very vocal (especially after the rain). Never did see one. Oh! And considering it's in the upcountry, no bugs/minimal wildlife, nothing to stress you out!

Wendy and David were absolutely lovely. The hale was gorgeous, perfectly integrated with nature. The lanai and bathroom are gems. We had the most delicious orange / tangerine of our lives right off the tree in the front yard.

Our stay at the cottage was everything we hoped for and more. The surrounding were absolutely beautiful. The view of the landscape from the back patio was so peaceful and the botanical garden was easily accessible and provided a place of relaxation. You are centrally located to all excursions and some of the top rated restaurants and bakery.

Beautiful and peaceful location. Watch gorgeous sunsets with panaromic voews pf the ocean right from the deck! Great snorkeling close by if you're comfortable getting in from rocks. Private pool to enjoy when you've had enough salt water for the day.

My wife and I had a wonderful 9 day honeymoon exploring the big island. Beautiful sunsets, spacious accommodations and friendly hosts awaited us whenever we returned from our adventures. Close proximity to local beach, shopping, and restaurants made things easy. Could not have worked out better for what we wanted. Thank you Deb and Bob for being so hospitable. We hope to visit again someday.

Our stay was fantastic! The place was super clean and beautifully maintained. From sunrise to sunset, you’re immersed in nature’s beauty, making every moment serene. The friendly dogs, cats, and goats added such a charming, playful vibe to the experience. The host was incredibly responsive and supportive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this gem for a peaceful, nature-filled getaway!

Our stay at the farm was wonderful - beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The bed was comfy, the kitchen was well appointed, and the screened in lanai was a fabulous place to gather, watch the sunset, and relax. Not a big deal , but the tv is in the bedroom, so watching a family movie is difficult. There was an ample supply of snorkeling gear, a cooler, and boogie boards, which we much appreciated. Rivah and Johan couldn’t have been more pleasant and accommodating. They’re great people, and they roast some delicious coffee beans. Thanks, Rivah and Johan, for sharing your paradise with us.

It was our second stay at this property. It is a wonderful tropical private oasis. The hosts were very responsive, friendly, and offered local tips to explore this quiet part of Hawaii.

Sally's place did not disappoint--we so enjoyed being tucked away on the Big Island. There were plenty of nearby hikes and outdoor activities. It was also incredibly easy to just stay put and relax. We used the spot to get around to various locations on the island. We also had no issues driving back at night. Super great touches we appreciated, like having water shoes, snorkeling gear, and a cooler (all things we ended up using!). Appreciated the flexibility using the shared laundry machines. Sally also proactively offered a later check out on our last day since there was no on checking in. We hadn't planned on lingering, but ended up spending a little more time with our coffee next to the pond that morning!

Fantastic stay. You get to hangout with all of the animals and walk the goats at sunset with the owner. They introduce you to all of the animals and you get to pet and hangout with them. The cottage itself is behind their home and it’s very clean and plenty of space for 2 people. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing view and great vibes at this place. Neighborhood was very chill and there is great coffee and breakfast burritos less than 5 minutes away at Uncle Kimos. Would definitely stay here again when we come back to Hawaii.

This place was exactly like described on the listing. Really enjoyed our stay here wish we could have stayed longer. The neighbors were awesome The View was pretty cool. I normally don't give five star ratings to too many places but because it was exactly like described and it was clean and it was quiet in the house. It was worth the money and it's worth the five star rating.!

If you want peaceful, beautiful, far from the crazy crowds of Kailua accommodations, Glenn's charming Chameleon Suite is for you. He is an attentive and very informative host, whocan provide you with a wealth of knowledge about sites to see and dinning options. Everyplace that we eat at that he recommended were superb. He is a botanical wizard whose land is truly a garden of earthly delights. Be prepared to do some driving to reach some of the attractions and dining spots, but it is well worth it. We would love to return.

We had a wonderful time staying at Michael's and Terry's cottage. The setting was amazing, with a view of the ocean and having entire botanical gardens to ourselves. The cottage was in great condition and well-equipped. We really appreciated fresh eggs from their chickens and tomatoes from their garden that they left us. Having read that it was off the grid, I had concerns about electricity and hot water, but we had no issues with them. The internet worked very well too. There was an orange cat who was very friendly and stayed on the patio the entire time we were there. The only thing that was less than ideal was the mattress, which was too soft for me. Communicating with Terry and Michael and their guests who were house sitting for them was a pleasure! If you stay there, please follow their advise and get groceries ahead of time, since the place is really remote and almost all food stands nearby closed very early.

Wonderful stay at the Kapalua Villas. Great pick for the price range. All was as described in listing. The location of this condo is spectacular! We LOVED our stay here. Impeccably clean inside, truly beautiful and relaxing garden and ocean views from the patio. Amazing coastal trails literally outside your door, which I recommend exploring all of (you can go 3 or 4 different directions from the trailhead!). Things you need do do while staying here: Snorkel Honolua Bay, go to Kahekili Beach park, hike down to the coastal cliffs from the access trail on site, and of course visit Kapalua Bay Beach (short walk from condo). Honolua Store down the road has affordable meals. Note that as this listing is very reasonably priced, you will need to pick up some of your own supplies like coffee, fruit, chocolate, anything in the fridge, potentially conditioner etc. depending on how much you use. A minor maintenance issue was made known to us before check in, and didn't effect our stay.

Thank you Christine for a wonderful stay. The house is beautiful and we just loved it to spend their a couple of days. If you look for something around Kula, choose for this one. Youn won‘t regret.

All of us enjoyed our stay at Debbie’s place. It was the perfect size for 5 of us; and that extra 1/2 bath was truly great to have! We really enjoyed eating the eggs from Debbie’s chickens that she left for us. We ate them scrambled and soft boiled and all were so delicious!! We picked fruits and flowers from their huge yard and we made friends with their dogs, birds and cows. We wanted to take a picture at the house with our Broken Dog Ranch shirts, but I felt bad that we were already late checking out. So we got together on Oahu for our photo shoot! 😁 This was my 2nd time staying at Debbie’s beautiful hale and I would definitely stay there again! Mahalo nui loa for your warm hospitality, Debbie! A Hidden Gem in Makawao – Truly Unforgettable I had an absolutely amazing time staying at Sydney’s cottage in Makawao. From the moment I arrived, the space felt warm and inviting—a true home away from home. The cottage is cozy, beautifully kept, and surrounded by serene, peaceful landscapes that instantly put you at ease. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible connection to nature. The surrounding wildlife made it feel like I was truly one with the land, offering moments of quiet reflection and a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty of the area. Sydney is a phenomenal host. Her warmth and hospitality go above and beyond. She gave me a tour of the property and shared a thoughtful and informative history of both the land and local island culture. That experience made me feel less like a tourist and more like a welcomed guest in a very special place. This was an authentic, peaceful, and enriching escape. I can’t recommend this stay enough—thank you Sydney.

Our stay here was perfect. Location was amazing right by the beach at a peaceful community, great for viewing sunrise/sunset. The place was just as pictured, very clean and had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

Such a cute and homey cottage. Clean, comfortable GORGEOUS VIEW and sooo quiet!
