Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Southend-on-Sea

I had a wonderful stay at this flat. It is located in a quiet area, clean, comfortable and close to amenities.

Jason’s place was wonderful for our little family and super close to old town and new town. Sara’s was great for brunch Sunday morning and the Library playground and library were great for my little one on Saturday.

It was conveniently located to where we needed to go that evening, the place is a conversion of the ground floor house and there is one room that connects but was locked for the entirety of our stay. The room and shower room was clean, slippery floor but slippers are provided. We did notice some ants but at the end of our stay. Good value for money, would stay again.

Jan's place was.lovely and cosy it better then expected everything was thought off would of been nice to stay longer has it was so peaceful nice little back yard to enjoy a coffee and a book and peace and quite nice outlook in the morning nice seeing the horses

The house is beautiful, and my family loved the rooms. The host was kind enough to leave kitchen utensils and pots/pans in the kitchen that we enjoyed using to make brownies and then have a lovely night in watching a movie on the TV in the living room. The actual area is also really nice, with lots to do and also the beach is nearby. Hosts were very responsive and assisted me with all my questions such as about heating and later check in ( and they were so nicely accommodating in this matter too). Overall a fabulous experience and if returning to Southend I would definitely just book this place again as there was nothing else that could be done to make my experience any better.

An Immaculately beautiful home. The location is great. The house had everything we could possibly have needed. Alex is a brilliant host and he communicated a lot.

We spent a very happy Christmas at the house visiting relatives in the area. The house is well appointed and extremely comfortable - though you do need to be a fan of soft beds (which I am). Everything worked and was scrupulously clean. The only problem we had was that the fuse for the cooker and oven had been tripped before we arrived but there was a rapid response to our (panicky) phone call and we were able to locate the fuse board. The area only has one small shop but it's a fairly quick walk or train ride to the town. Overall very nice stay and we had lots to do around Southend including the pantomime and the Helen Mirren phone box / museum! Worth a quick look. (I think it was on the corner of Alexander Road and Cashiobury Terrace). Anyway, thank you.

We had a wonderful stay at this house in the South East End of the UK. The property was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it a relaxing place to return to after a day out. The location was fantastic—just a short walk to the aquarium and with easy access to the beach, which made our trip even more enjoyable. Communication with the host was smooth and prompt throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a convenient and comfortable stay in the area!

20 years ago we were married at Layer Marney Towers and returning to stay at Nicholas' Airbnb was an anniversary present to my husband. We had not visited since we were married so really appreciated being able to explore the grounds and gardens in peace to relive our memories and re-create some of our wedding pics. Nicholas very kindly opened up the room where we said our vows all those years ago. The space itself was charming and romantic and so so quiet (unless you count the chattering of jackdaws and bleatings of the sheep!) We slept well on the comfy 4-poster bed and enjoyed exploring some of the footpaths from the door to Aberton Reservoir and the Hare & Hounds at Birch. I really hope we do not leave it another 20 years before returning. This really is a very special place.

The apartment is lovely - the beds are comfortable, it feels spacious and the kitchen is well equipped. It’s in a great location and has a beautiful view of the Estuary which really made the stay special. Trevor was very helpful, the welcome information gave us everything we needed to know and there was a kind touch of leaving biscuits and milk for us when we arrived, along with there being coffee and tea, etc available. A super Airbnb, would highly recommend and I’m sure we’ll be back. Many thanks Trevor!

Visited Leigh On Sea to visit a friend and previous Airbnb was booked up Excellent location near restaurants and shops and secure parking is a massive bonus in Leigh Clean accommodation - ideal for 2 people Loved the Welcome to Leigh In Sea original sign. Good to have the balcony

Enjoyed our second visit with Antony and Gonzalo. Had stayed 6 weeks in 2019 and became friends with them then. Made it a point to spend 3 nights with them on this trip and it felt like old home week. Antony is very knowledgeable about architecture and grand British homes so he can offer advice on where you may be able to see historic buildings and interesting houses. We hope to visit with them again on any future trip to England.

The property was spotlessly clean and well equipped. It was very well situated and well suited for our weekend needs. Good links for everywhere we wanted to go. The local chippy and the pub were very conveniently situated. We would certainly rebook next time we’re in the area. Thanks for a lovely weekend!

The studio is perfect for a short stay in Whitstable. It’s ideally located, literally across the road from the harbour and a couple minutes from the main shopping area, full of lovely little independent shops, restaurants and cafes. The studio has a lovely seaside, cottage vibe to it, which felt very cosy and relaxed. The main room and bathroom were both clean and very well maintained. My only slight niggle would be that the 10am checkout is a bit early, most check outs I’ve experienced are 11am but that may just be me being lazy :-) All in all I had a lovely time and I would definitely come back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to other people.

Our third stay here. Really appreciated the rotary clothes line and pegs, got a full load of washing dry in the sunshine! As ever the off road parking is such a bonus. Many thanks.

This is my 2nd visit to Richard’s property and I still love it as much as I did the first time. Right in the centre of Canterbury, it’s a perfect location for shops, museums, transport etc. The apartment has everything in it you need and is very comfortable. All contact with Richard is fast and friendly. His written instructions are very clear on accessing the apartment too. Fab place, fab City, fab host.

Fabulous apartment with spectacular views! The photos do not do the grandeur of the place justice… it’s absolutely stunning! Angela was great too and had some fantastic recommendations on what to do and where to eat, which were fab. Would stay again in a heartbeat!!

Beautiful place to stay and the pub in walking distance is an absolute bonus

We wrapped up an incredible three-week road trip through the UK with a two-night stay at Tom’s charming coach house flat—and it was the perfect finale. This beautifully appointed second-floor, two-bedroom retreat was ideally situated, just a short and scenic walk (less than 0.8 miles) from the heart of the Old City and the Canterbury Cathedral. With restaurants and groceries conveniently located within three blocks, and every imaginable amenity thoughtfully provided within the flat—including on-property parking and breakfast essentials awaiting us—it exceeded all expectations. The comfort, location, and attention to detail made for an unforgettable stay in Canterbury. Now I truly understand why this Airbnb is so “highly rated”! Tom’s hospitality was exceptional—helpful, informative, and always clear in his communication. A truly lovely experience from start to finish.

This is an absolute gem of a place and location, with views right across the Darent Valley. I only wish we could have stayed longer! The place was spotless and everything had been perfectly prepared and very well thought through (from the local hand-drawn maps right down to the vast array of toiletries on offer). I can't think of a single thing to change or improve about the place. Diana was a lovely host and provided a lot of information prior to arrival. She had also found some suggestions of activities for us tailored to our interests, which was frankly above and beyond. We were very grateful and it was clear a lot of thought had been put in prior to our arrival. I could carry on for pages but in summary, we have already recommend the place to family and friends and we be pleased to offer our recommendation here too. Thank you, Diana, for such a lovely place to stay and we hope to be back soon!

It was a privilege to stay in Teresa’s lovely seaside flat. From the moment I walked in the door of this bright, cozy and beautifully decorated flat it felt like I was entering someone’s home, not a typical rental unit.
