Farmstay vacation rentals in Scotland

Alex is a true Scottish Gentleman, and a very gentle and well-read soul at that. Nestled in a small piece of highlands heaven, Alex's farm is tranquil (though there's a spot of logging over yonder in 2025) and the a-frame house matched Magnus's description and caveats. I could have spent a lot more time talking to the erudite Alex over a cup of tea, but he had sheepdogs to train! A wonderful stay indeed.

We booked for a last minute get away and Tim & Judy’s place did not disappoint! The cottage was gorgeous and Tim was very helpful in getting us settled - peanuts were set right outside the kitchen window and we had red squirrels within minutes! Lots more bird watching was done throughout our stay :)) The fire and heaters kept us cosy, and the kitchen was well equipped. Will be returning soon hopefully!

Megan and Sean’s place is beautiful—thoughtfully designed, well equipped, and tastefully decorated. It was perfect for our family of five (two adults and three children). Megan went above and beyond, even baking a cake and bringing fresh flowers from her garden to welcome us. The house is full of charming details and has been expertly renovated, blending the character of the old building with modern comforts. We especially appreciated the thoughtful extras for families—there were toys and board games that kept the kids happily entertained. There was also a wealth of local resources—books, maps, and guides—to help us explore the region. Firewood was provided for the fireplace, and the BBQ was ready to go with a full gas tank. It’s a wonderful place to relax—we’ll definitely be back.

Second time at Shiel and thoroughly enjoyed the stay once again. Beautiful setting and area, a short drive from neighboring towns if you need to buy supplies. The house has seen fantastic renovations since our last visit. The house is perfect for any large group that are looking for catch ups or family reunions. Highly recommended!

Absolutely fantastic location, out of the way and really peaceful. Another Airbnb next door but was exactly as advertised and contact with other guests was minimal and no issue at all. Perfect for a Scottish getaway in the Trossachs. The accommodation was clean, tidy and so well decorated - a home from home! Alison and Matt were so accommodating. Really helpful and friendly. We even asked about bringing a BBQ and they kindly offered their own for ease. Would absolutely recommend the stay to family and friends! Thank you for a lovely stay, 5*

What a wonderful place to visit. Kerrera can be enjoyed in a day but better over a weekend and Zoe’s place was just perfect. The view, the cosiness.. it was just lovely. Zoe is one of the most accommodating hosts we’ve ever met - she was so kind and the lift from and back to the ferry was a lifesaver after a weekend of walking the island. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the chalet and I hope we’ll be back one day. Lovely lunch at the tea garden, lovely meal up at the marina, amazing walks and views. Definitely a hidden gem and a must visit.

this wee cottage is a hidden gem. the back garden views are just unreal, i couldve sat out there all day! jill was so lovely and responsive when we had a quick question, it was no issue for her. we wish we had longer there to enjoy the lovely space and surroundings, hoping to be back one day!

We had a lovely time at Jo and Rory‘s cabin on their croft, among their farm animals and some wild rabbits that you can watch right from the veranda. The cabin is cosy and the surroundings are quiet and private - just perfect for a couple of peaceful days.

Fairygreen Cottage was the last stop on our holiday trip and it couldn't have been better! From the first step into the house until the very last minute, we absolutely enjoyed our stay there. The cottage is lovingly furnished, equipped with everything one needs and shows a high standard in quality. We felt very welcomed and comfortable and wish to come back!

What a fantastic place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, especially sitting on the patio, enjoying the view and listening to the birdsong. Jan made us feel very welcome and her thoughtful breakfast supplies were amazing. The shower was lovely, the bed very comfortable, we only wish we had booked for longer. Moffat is a beautiful town, everyone was very friendly and the museum is very interesting with some very knowledgeable volunteers. We liked being within walking distance of the town although parking was plentiful. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

What stunning views and such a tranquil location. Loved our stay and hosts were so accommodating when we were a little late and they opened up for our grocery delivery driver! We are a family of four with a dog and loved using the enclosed garden, bbq and fire pit. Beds are comfortable and showers are super. Even the sofa bed is great! Would stay again. Spent a week here and it is so peaceful and private. We were lucky with the weather so made good use of the bbq, hot tub and outdoor furniture. The lodge itself is very pretty nestled away inside woodland and has all the amenities you need without having to leave if you didn't want to. Enjoyed some walks in the area plus paid a visit to the Glen Garioch and Glendronach distilleries. Graham was a great host, excellent communication and cleaned and heated the hot tub while we were out for the day ready for when we returned. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time here

Amazing place, lots of things to do in the area. 10 minutes from location to city centre. Definitely recommended!

What a fabulous setting! The farm bothy is gorgeous, spacious, and clean. James and Frances are lovely people who go out of their way to make you feel at home and welcomed. We got some great local recommendations from James and fresh bread, cake, and eggs. The location is perfect for getting to the cairngorms for hikes, and walks around the farm itself are peaceful.

The stay at the beautiful cottage was exceptional. The views from the house are amazing, the house is equipped with high end bathroom and bedroom fabrics and amenities and the house is beautifully decorated and very spacious. Even more beautiful than on the pictures. As a welcome there was a hand written card and hand picked wildflowers and a very generous food package with milk, eggs, ciders, treats etc. Rachel was responding very quickly and was super nice and helpful. When we are in the area again we would be back any time. Highly recommended.

A lakeside haven with a truly exceptional host! From the moment my husband and I arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and hospitality. The cottage and surrounding grounds are even more enchanting than the photos suggest—nestled within a beautiful garden and close enough to the shore to hear the gentle rhythm of the waves mingled with sounds of the sheep who accompany the area. Bridget is truly amazing and the kind of host you hope for but rarely find—attentive when needed, yet always respectful of our space. She made us feel completely at home, and by the end of our stay, we felt like we'd gained a friend. Saying goodbye to both the home and Bridget wasn’t easy. This gem of a place is something special—the kind you hesitate to share because it’s just that magical. We left refreshed, deeply grateful.

We had a great stay at Hilltop, it's a lovely cottage. I was able to have breakfast outside every day of my stay which was a real luxury for me. We did some great hikes too venturing to the Borrowdale valley with its stunning views and even went down to the beach one day. Good communication with Natasha as well, would definitely reccomend.

Everything you need can be found in this beautiful cottage. Beautiful walks in the immediate vicinity. Add to that the view of the Isle of Skye and the immediate vicinity of the great Glenelg Inn with suberp food. What more could you want?

Clover Cottage was absolutely magical. The house is private, nestled in gorgeous Scottish countryside, perfect for long walks with the dogs and really, truly escaping. The house was incredibly cozy, and we loved the hot tub. The nearest shops are a bit of a drive, but we just stocked up and nestled in. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for some peace and quiet!
