An ancient rock house perched on the rock walls of San Matteo hill, renovated and expanded to create a refuge from time, where you can forget about the outside world and immerse yourself in the memory and history of the place. Casa Corto Maltese has a shady and private fenced secret garden with 2 ancient caves and a terrace facing the entrance from which you can overlook the entire Scicli. The novel "The Stone Raven" by Marco Steiner was inspired by the rocky walls of this house.

Ancient Scicli

My home... A dive into the past. Between the stone walls and the antique floors, which the grandmothers washed on their knees, brush in hand... An old wash basin, where the clothes were washed with homemade soap. A bedroom upstairs, all wood, floor and roof. Bathroom and kitchen/living room on the ground floor. All renovated, but with the characteristics of an old house, like Scicli: a jewel in the south of Sicily to visit and savor in every detail.

Villa Saracena - The Tower

A medieval fortified tower became a magnificent patrician villa in the 18th century, and still retains traces of legend and Moorish forms: to rediscover the scents of the most ancient time, in the spell of Saracen Sicily. The building is part of the circuit of 9 fortified towers present throughout the island: recognized as an asset of historical interest, it was restored in 2015 with funding from the Sicily Region.

Perched on a mountain ridge with valley vistas on all sides and a magnificent view into the Baroque town of Scicli with the sea beyond. A metal gate two fields away leads you into the land, where our neighbouring farmer grazes his cows and goats amongst the ancient carob grove.
