My stay at New Ruins was absolutely fabulous. If your spirit is called to have this experience here, you are quite lucky. I had great conversations with the other guest and the overall energy was wonderful. Nico is a super cool guy who is full of jokes and has a very likable personality, he is very chill and easy to get a long with. If you are not used to living in harmony with nature then staying here could be an adjustment for you. I was totally in my element and it was more than ideal for time I spent.

Casa Labra - Labra House Etla, Oaxaca

Ximena's place felt like staying at a friend's beloved home. There's a relaxed, comfy vibe, as shown in the photos, but actually being there, is hard to find words for. It's just very special. Both my friend and I cherished our time there. Some words of advice, pack in your favorite foods, coffee, granola, there's only a small bodega down the road, and frankly once you've landed, you won't wanna leave. The first night Jhonny gave us the name of a wonderful local woman who on relatively short notice prepared us a lovely, healthy meal. Or, venture out to the small restaurant in the village. We ate delicious quesadillas made with fresh tortillas. On hikes, we were told to carry a stick to deter dogs. We never used them but good advice for anyone walking on country roads in Mexico. The dogs we saw were sun sleeping in the middle of the roads. Like I said, it's a good relaxing spot. We loved using the washing machine and hanging our clothes out to dry. We got emotional leaving.
A serene pathway is bordered by lush greenery and colorful plants, leading to a private area with stone steps. The textured concrete path features a subtle pattern, while the warm walls of the adjacent building enhance the inviting ambiance.

Biocultural room, tribute to Tlahuitoltepec

It’s a beautiful designed place, the rooms but also the common areas. I don’t think the pictures do the place justice - it’s even better! I loved that they celebrate the different cultures and tradition Oaxaca has to offer and that they take care of their environment. Perfect example how luxury and sustainability can go together. Also the people working here are super nice and easy reachable for questions through phone but also real life. Would recommend to go here if you’re in Oaxaca city. Ps: if you do, please do yourself a favour and visit Onno Panderia a couple of hundred meters to the centre. Best pastry of my life.

Beautiful place, cozy and stylish. I loved the whole structure and everything they do for recycling and to take care of the atmosphere. For the first time I used a dry bathroom and really everything is fine. Excellent experience and we will surely return

If you want to see sustainability in action, this is the perfect project to support. Niyanas is incredibly clean, thoughtfully designed, and beautifully set up. It’s the kind of place that stays with you—not just for its comfort and style, but for its values. Perfect for travelers who are mindful of their impact on the planet, Niyanas is truly an inspiration for what conscious living can look like. The vibe is cool and calming, the location is great, and every detail has clearly been chosen with care. A must-stay if you're in Oaxaca!

Biocultural room, tribute to San José del P.

It was really awesome. The space is a peaceful oasis in the hustle and bustle of downtown Oaxaca. The trees, the eco-informed construction, and the people were outstanding. Heads and shoulders above anywhere else in the area at this price point, in my humble opinion. They also have tours that pick up right from this location every day. If it's your first time to Oaxaca, I can't think of a better place to stay.
