Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Newcastle upon Tyne

We had not been to the area before but were delighted with the accommodation and with Cullercoats. The cottage was stylish and luxurious, ticking all the boxes for a really comfortable bed, great shower, well-equipped, excellent kitchen and everything you needed for a short stay or a longer one. The upstairs ensuite bedroom had a lovely sea view and was really peaceful. The downstairs double room and separate bathroom were practical as we had family visiting. The neighbourhood was quiet and friendly and the location was superb - the cottage was minutes from the beach, a small supermarket and the Metro. You could walk from the door into Whitley Bay or Tynemouth. The beach was excellent and we swam in the sea. The coastal pathway between Whitley Bay and North Shields with its separate cycle lanes will be a wonderful asset and parts of it are already completed. We settled in really well and very quickly and were a bit sad to leave. Thank you to Vikki.

I have just had a perfect stay here, the property is ideal for Jesmond and Heaton, great for parents and friends visiting those living nearby. The house is new and well proportioned, it has all you need for a comfortable stay. It is light and airey, well decorated and spotlessly clean. Parking was plentiful, the road is a cul de sac so is much quieter. It is located near to pubs, resturants and bars and has shops all within 5 to 10 minute walk. The bed was really comfy, great kitchen and bathroom facilities. Nice touches such as games and books, netflix and freeview. The pool table was an added bonus, I stayed alone but still played pool and loved it, sadly I still managed to lose 2 games after potting the white with the black! 🫣. I would recommend the pool table house to anyone planning a trip to Newcastle.

What a smashing wee find, just what we wanted. The annex is well laid out and well equipped. The bedding was super quality [something important to me]. Easy to come and go and you park your car right outside the door. Worth noting there is a step down into the kitchen and bathroom which has a sensor light on it at night so not to much of a problem. We would happily stay here again.

We really enjoyed our three night stay at Jamie's place. I was on a short break with my daughter and three granddaughters aged 12, 10 and 10 months. It was exactly what we were looking for - a family home in a pleasant, peaceful area with three bedrooms, full bathroom upstairs and toilet downstairs, good Wifi, a large smart tv and two parking spaces at the house. It also provided easy access to places of interest (both in the city and in the surrounding area), shopping centres (favourites were Fenwick and the Metrocentre) , supermarkets, restaurants and takeaways. No complaints at all and we would not hesitate to stay again if visiting Newcastle.

Lovely stay here this week, so much so we have booked again for next week.

Wowzers! Absolutely spectacular accommodation! Booked myself and 5 friends for a 40th Boozy and Boujee birthday and this place did not disappoint. Finished to an unbelievably high spec, the place was modern, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. I would say like home from home however I could only ever dream of having such a beautiful palace. Everything we needed was provided. Location superb and plenty bars and restaurants just a 5 minute walk away. Stunning views and the beach is just round the corner. We hit on lucky with weather and enjoyed a meal sat in the sunshine at Sambuccas then it was just a short ferry ride over to South Shields to go to the fairground. Raymond is a delightful host, super responsive and nothing was a bother. We couldn't get the TV to work so he sent someone round while we were out to fix it and even messaged to say he left some music on for when we got in. We 100% recommend Hilights View and we will be back again! Thanks Raymond, you are a star!

No doubt about it this little place is delightful in decor and ambiance. Parking isn’t great but doable For the price per night.. I didn’t mind paying of course, or I would have chosen a cheaper stay. However after having a long journey to get there. I was spitting feathers and in need of a coffee. Unfortunately this was not an option… I didn’t know where the nearest shop was. I messaged the host and she did very kindly offer to provide me with some decaf (sadly not to my taste) This is only a thought. It would have been nice, just to have a couple of coffee sugar and milk sashes as a welcome. Would certainly have been most appreciated by me for sure. I do think this can be included within the price. Bed was dressed beautifully but wasn’t the most comfortable for me however might be great for somebody else. Plenty of hot water TV is temperamental turning itself on. This is only my personal view and is no way a negative one you make up your own mind when you visit Glen May 25

Although not much to do in Bedlington itself , it was a great base for exploring Northumberland. It was a lovely cozy cottage. Tastefully decorated. comfortable bed. Enjoyed our stay

Great accomodation, perfect for short break to see a show at Utilita Arena. Walking distance into the centre of town and walked back from the show at the arena. Lovely view across the river, and great walk along the river to bars and restaurants. Had everything needed in the accommodation and host was responsive and helpful.

Absolutely great place. Perfect location for a nice day out in ouseburn / a walk along the quayside. Spacious and airy apartment that is bigger than it looks in the pictures too! Would recommend for sure! X

An absolutely beautiful accommodation, comfortable & large in a glorious setting. Zoe is so friendly, unassuming & helpful. Encouraged us to wander around her lovely garden, the very old courtyard & surroundings. Her dogs & cats add to the pleasant home stay atmosphere. The breakfast supplies, tea & coffee were very generous. Zoe booked us into a nearby pub for dinner which was a good idea as they can be very busy. There are a number of things to see in nearby towns. We would have loved to have stayed for much longer & will definitely return to Zoe’s if we ever get back to the UK.

We had a lovely stay at Will & Dawn’s place. They’re very friendly and helpful in providing all the instructions and information we needed ahead of our trip. Our children love playing (and feeding!) their rabbits & hamsters and the indoor heated swimming pool was simply a bonus to have when it’s raining outside. The place was very cosy & clean and it’s a great location to explore Northumberland!

Really nice flat, ideal for a stay near Newcastle. Only a 20 min walk to Jesmond which has loads of nice bars & restaurants, and the metro station is only a 2 minute walk and 10mins into the city centre. The hosts are very responsive to questions and helpful.

Danielle’s flat was spotlessly clean, comfortable and has all the amenities you need. It’s near to the beautiful Northumberland park and local shops and resturant dare nearby. I would highly recommend a stay and would definitely return.

Abi’s place was in a great location overlooking the sea. The house was immaculate with high quality fixtures and fittings. It was very spacious and ideal for our family of 4 with one baby

We used Jen’s house as a stop over and it was very comfortable. Perfect distance from Newcastle City Centre and other areas.

We booked this apartment at very short notice following a change in our plans. The hosts responded very quickly to make the property available for us and even allowed us flexibility with our check in. The Old Bakery exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our short break holiday being close to Cullercoats and Tynemouth centre and a great stretch of beach. Next time we are looking to stay in the area we will definitely be booking this again.

Booked as I was working in the area and bored of hotels. It made a few days working away bearable. The apartment was exactly as described, immaculately clean and modern. Once inside it's really private no noise, and very calm decor. Kathryn was really responsive and keen to ensure I was comfortable and all needs met. Will definitely be booking again when staying in the North East for work, a lovely home away from home.

Fintan's place is located in the attractive village of Ovingham and is very convenient for accessing places along the Tyne Valley as well as Hadrian's Wall. The bed and shower were both great and all essential needs are provided for.

Karen was a fantastic host. The apartment was perfect and just what I needed. It was so lovely and absolutely spotless. Karen couldn't have been more helpful and flexible at check in. The apartment block was lovely and quiet too! A perfect stay - thank you!

A gorgeous, peaceful place to stay for a long weekend. The flat is beautifully furnished and decorated and has everything you need provided. Very close to Gosforth High Street, which has loads of restaurants and bars, as well as handy shops like Sainsburys and Boots. We had great meals at the Brandling Arms and Tremelo Cafe. There's also lots of bus connections into Newcastle and beyond, so very easy to get around the area. I wouldn't hesitate to book the flat again.

Really enjoyed our stay. We have family in Newcastle but wanted to head further up into Northumberland. This location was perfect for popping to see them and going to the tourist places we wanted to see on this visit. Flat is really clean and beautifully presented. As other reviews mention, the bed is sumptuous and quality label linens are used. Coffee and biscuits were a lovely extra. We visited the pub one evening for dinner and would really recommend a visit. Great value and really welcoming staff. If we lived in the area it would definitely be our local! Would certainly return to The Stable Yard and have no hesitation in recommending to anyone we knew who was visiting the area and looking for somewhere to stay
