Charles' and Judy's cabin on Beaver Pond was a perfect spot for our family ADK getaway (two teenagers and two adults). The cabin was exactly as described, and the house guide provided all the details we needed for a comfortable stay. The pond was swimmable and the canoes were wonderful to use. We enjoyed cooking and dining on the back porch overlooking the pond. The wildlife and scenery in the ADK, in and around the property, were astounding. We saw fireflies, fish, a beaver swimming in the pond, and a porcupine climbing a tree near the garage. There is a lot to do in the area. We hiked Severance Mountain and parts of the Pharaoh Mountain wilderness area. We visited the Wednesday farmer's market in Chestertown and Fort Ticonderoga. Having most dinners in the cabin, we enjoyed grabbing lunch or ice cream out at Pitkins Restaurant on Schroon Lake, the Hub on Brandt Lake, Mainstreet Ice Cream Parlor in Chestertown, and the Windchill factory in Ticonderoga.

This house was Huge!, clean, multiple sinks, bathrooms. My favorite part was the MASSIVE kitchen! Not to mention the grill and Blackstone outside on the porch. Any cooking utensils that you might need they had it. tops grocery store was just 10 min away. It was very private, secluded. the crisp night adirondack are while you slept was perfect. The fire pit outside and wood provided was a nice bonus, not to mention the graciously left stuff for smores in the fridge. everybody loved it and not 1 complaint. We can't wait to go back and definitely will! reccomend 100000%

Thanks for sharing your home! It’s a peaceful and relaxing getaway, but also only a short drive to Lake Placid restaurant and shops. A very well stocked kitchen for those who enjoy cooking at home.

Great location and perfect for a large group. The house had a wonderful lodge feel and a nice layout for multiple families. Andrea the host was very responsive and helpful.

If your planning on doing any group activity in the high peaks area, this is the spot to stay. Located right off the main trail head to Algonquin and Marcy peaks. Place was cozy, clean, and much larger than I originally expected. Great experience all around.

The Barkeater is one of the loveliest, coziest, most comfortable B&Bs we have ever experienced. Coming through the front door wreathed in blooming clematis, to freshly baked cookies waiting just inside, was a magical welcome to a magical place. We are already planning our return trip, and have encouraged our friends and family (repeatedly) to plan their stays for this fall before the inn is all booked! Meghan and Tyler (and Dude!) are the consummate hosts. We looked forward to their home cooked breakfasts every morning with great anticipation—and the bacon may have been the best we have ever eaten. We loved the abundance of produce from the Barkeater’s garden, as well as many local products and Meghan’s homemade maple syrup. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and unfussy but luxurious. We slept like a cloud in the comfortable bed, and enjoyed looking at the mountain views through almost any window of our room. We also enjoyed hanging out on the screened porch and the cozy fireplace sitting room, and chatting with other guests each morning during breakfast. The whole vibe of the Barkeater is welcoming and relaxed, and we didn’t want to leave. The location is great for getting out into the High Peaks, or exploring Keene, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and beyond. Added bonus for hikers: there are many trailheads within a short driving distance, making the race to the trailhead in the mornings much less stressful. We highly recommend the Barkeater and can’t wait to come back!

Picture perfect stay! The cabin is “as-advertised” base on the photos and description. The location is quiet and serene. Majorie was super kind and helpful. She was available for our needs all time throughout the day. Highly recommend taking a canoe out on the lake and going for a swim across from the property. An easy 15 min paddle across will take you to some nice rock outcroppings with crystal clear water for a nice evening dip. Town is a short 10 min right for one night out for a good meal. Def recommend staying on this property!

Everything just so well thought-out. Inside: Rooms tastefully furnished, and house beautifully restored. Everything you could need including great hiking and nature books and games, and convenient kitchen. Breakfast was delicious and perfect for hikers. Outside: The valley/mountain view and feeling of solitude is unbeatable and Meghan's garden could be a tourist attraction in its own right.

Ted was the perfect host, being present, available, and responsive - I felt sure that IF we needed anything he would have been there to help out. The cabin is perfect for a little get-away. The ping pong table in the basement was an added bonus for a little family tournament. The location is peaceful - we didn't walk the grounds, but hope to be back to do so another time - and close to the town/shops/ski hill/etc. So much to do in the area! Thanks Ted!

We loved the beautiful setting and the waterfront access. This location has everything you need to escape city life and really enjoy nature and the real quiet of nature.

Awesome spot in an awesome place. Can’t recommend this enough. Cozy cabin (essentially a studio), but had everything you need and was perfect for a couple days of hiking. The property is exceptional. Three fire pits. Adirondack chairs for days. And the location can’t be beat.

The staff at Cobble Mountain Lodge was truly amazing. Our dog escaped the cabin 2 separate times while we were out to eat and the staff was SO helpful and accommodating when they didn’t have to be. They brought him back to our cabin each time and ensured he was safely locked in all the while keeping us updated while we were out. They were extremely friendly and very responsive any time we messaged with questions throughout our trip. Besides that the cabin was a perfect size, clean, and had everything we needed. They also provided a pack n play for our toddler which is one less thing to pack in the car for us. The drive to downtown LP is only minutes away. I would 100% recommend Cobble Mountain Lodge and would definitely come back, this time just leave our dog at home who now we know can open locked doors from the inside lol. great location. Cozy cabins. Everything is good. If the mattresses have more supports, we can sleep even better.

This is an absolute gem among the woods and water. Peaceful is an understatement and serene doesn't quite do it justice. It's a place to step back, slow down and unplug from all your cares, worries and realities. You'll get the basic necessities and the time to unwind and relax. This is a well placed, well thought of and we'll out of the way home away from home. But in it's tranquility you'll not be far from the everyday needs of everyday life as town is a quick drive over the mountain. I highly recommend the Cochran cabins for a peaceful escape from your everyday life.

The host is wonderful and warm. The cabin does offer true feel of Adirondack vintage cabin that has added a kitchen and bathroom. I would go back again.

Our stay at this cabin was nothing short of magical! Meghan was an incredible host—she responded quickly and was so helpful with all of our questions before the trip. The cabin itself was stunning and perfectly located for easy drives to places like Lake Placid. Pictures do not do it justice. The property was breathtaking, with trails leading to creeks and ponds right on site. It felt like we had our own little nature escape. One of the loveliest touches was the handmade shampoos, conditioners, and bath gel—they smelled amazing and added such a personal feel to the experience. As a family of five from Miami, seeing snowfall was such a treat! The views were absolutely unbelievable, and even with the snow, the roads were always cleared, making travel stress-free. The playroom downstairs was a hit with our family—pool, TV, and a cozy space to gather and unwind. Plus, the beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring we all got a great night's sleep. This place is an easy 100/10.
