Cottage vacation rentals in Avery County

Our family was gathering for my Nieces graduation from ETSU and it was our first time being all together in 6 years. The Dogtrot was so spacious in all areas allowing us to be able to play games and eat all together. We even had a competitive game of wiffle ball in yard. We utilized all the amazing amenities the hot tub, sauna, outdoor fireplace and played games at the outdoor table. Oh and I can’t forget the serious matches of ping pong that took place in the enclosed breeze way. We only had a couple of issues the instructions for the wood fired hot tub were no where to be found but Jason responded quickly providing instructions and the oven wouldn’t work which did cause issue with family dinner but again Jason/Brent were very apologetic and worked with us since we ended up having to leave a day early. We hope to come stay again for a longer period of time!

Our son has been at Lenoir-Rhyne University for the last 5 years. We stayed at Hilary's a few years ago when visiting and have come back again for his graduation. The first thing we did when booking our trip was to check that Hilary's place was available so we could stay here again. We can't recommend this place enough - it has everything you could need and the area is fantastic.

Excellent location for hiking and enjoying the town of Blowing Rock. The view from the property was beautiful. The kitchen was well stocked.

This was the perfect weekend getaway from the chaos of the city! Emily and Hunter were amazing hosts and I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the weekend. Everything was as described and we left feeling recharged and stress free! Thank you for hosting us!

I loved staying in the river cottage! Loved the porch by the river and lots to do in the area. The host was very responsive and check in and out was a breeze. Would highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway!

This place was wonderful. The open kitchen and living room concept made cooking social and fun. There was tons of land for my dog to run around. Overall, it was a very wholesome trip. Thank you, Connie for your wonderful home.

Really enjoyed our stay. The view and sunsets were spectacular. The beds were extremely comfortable. We really enjoyed the hot tub. Great place!!

Maria’s mountain house was lovely and suited us perfectly for a mountain getaway weekend. She was very responsive and provided clear communication leading up to check in and we were even able to check in a bit early. The space was very homey and extremely peaceful. There is access to a lot of hiking and outdoor spots nearby. The community also has access to tennis and pickleball courts for a small fee. There is a cute coffee truck a short drive away and nice streets for walking the dog!

Place was great. It is a perfect spot for a quiet romantic getaway, very private and relaxing. I do recommend making sure you bring everything you need, grocery/drug stores are about thirty minutes away, but that is a small price to pay for the privacy/peace/quiet that you will get. There are hiking spots galore within a 15-20 minute drive. Not much else I can add. I give it five stars and would highly recommend.

Perfect for a lovely weekend at Sugar Mountain. Private and secluded. Saw an entire herd of deer walk in front of us. Very close to groceries and banner elk Main Street. We had a lovely time and would definitely rent again.

We enjoyed our trip to Newland and surrounding areas. Jeremy’s place was perfect for our family and friends. We enjoyed our trip!

It's a really charming, comfortable, clean, and quiet place. It has the best kitchen equipment of any place I've stayed: a large set of dish- and glassware, pots and pans, plush towels, comfortable bed. The host communicated well and quickly. I would definitely return.

Went to enjoy the river and relax. It met all expectations. It’s a peaceful place right on the river. A lot of wildlife in the area…deer, wild turkey, hawks, geese, ducks, fireflies. Very easy access for fishing and the river has plenty of trout. Adjacent to laurel creek waterfalls which was a simple hike and good swimming holes. Very clean and welcoming and had all the amenities we needed. Didn’t want to leave and would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful town this little mountain town, Banner Elk. The Elk Cottage at the Azelea Inn was the perfect place to stay. It’s clean, comfortable and close to great restaurants, shopping and outdoor activities. Highly recommend!

This place was beautiful! Pictures don’t do it justice! Our favorite spot was the outdoor area with the tv and jacuzzi. We hung by the firepit, played lots of ping pong, corn hole, jenga, and waded in the river. It was so peaceful here! The inside of the house was beautifully decorated and had all the necessities of home. We cooked a lot and had everything we needed. It is convenient to stores and restaurants. Great place, we really enjoyed our weekend!

Wr absolutely loved staying here. Susan and her husband Derrell were so friendly and introduced us to their little 'animal farm'. They take very good care of their chickens. We enjoyed petting their fur babies Ace and Bruce. A restaurant is right around the corner and they had really good food as well! We travel a lot but this was by far the nicest and cleanest cabin we have been to so far. Absolutely recommend!

I am also a host and anytime I encounter a negative review it’s been my experience that the majority of the people who leave them were either 1.trying to get something for free 2.going to complain about something wherever they go, 3.trying to get something for free, and I have seen complaints about things ranging from the weather and/or the insects outside, to the palmetto bugs that inevitably at least one appears in all houses near the beach. These same people are more likely to not mention their pets , and complain about their own pets hair being on the furniture.This house was perfect for me,my wife, my son who was celebrating his 15th birthday , and his friend from school. It was close enough to the slopes and the general store and I enjoyed the outdoor hot tub . The car we came in was all wheel drive,we had no problems at all but we were lucky,as we’ve been snowed in at different places on past trips. The guests asking when the 5oclock buffet starts are the ones to look out for

This was the perfect place for my family gathering. It was spacious, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Thanks to the fenced back yard that connected to the front porch, my son’s dog was able to run and play while still interacting with us. The host was extremely responsive before we arrived and during our stay. They made it easy to adjust the length of our stay before the trip and when I reached out after we arrived with a minor issue, they had someone at the house an hour later taking care of it. I really couldn’t have asked for anything better. We’d love to stay here again!
