Family-friendly vacation rentals in Virginia

this cabin was a gem! Just what I was looking for. My fiancee father lives in Luray and we wanted to surprise him and come down for father's day, but I also wanted a romantic, remote getaway for us. this was perfect! we surprised his dad, were able to spend time with him in Luray, but still had a beautiful cabin to retreat to, with a hot tub! And our dog was very welcomed. I loved the little added touches!

My family and I loved this air bnb! It was private, clean and had everything that we needed. Loved the fire pit and the hot tub, beds were comfy and towels were soft. Great communication with the owners. If you are looking for a nice get away with lots of privacy and to be able to relax this place is it! If we are ever in the area again would love to stay in this beautiful cabin in the woods.

We had a wonderful stay at this cabin! Close enough to all the hikes we wanted to do. Pet friendly (huge for us) and beautiful views! Please make sure you read the whole listing, as you definitely need a vehicle with 4 wheel drive to get up the driveway. We brought our own towels, sheets, and so on as stated and everything else we needed was available. Would recommend bringing dish towels. We had forgotten them this trip. Cooking pots and pans are little outdated but they’re just fine! We had a wonderful taco night anniversary dinner at the cabin and throughly enjoyed a nice soak in the hot tub. There’s a very nice above ground pool also but it was too cold this time of year to swim in. I would definitely stay again!

We were looking for a cabin, hoping to find a quiet place to rest, relax and recharge in nature. We never dreamed that we would find an authentic 18th century cabin located in the forest on a mountain top - with an excellent view of the surrounding mountains. The inside of the cabin was beautifully furnished as would be expected in colonial Virginia. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the experience of stepping back in time.

This place was exactly what we needed to get away for the weekend. Elise went above and beyond with her list of nearby recommendations and property details. We met her twice and she was so kind, and we were lucky to meet her sweet dog George and sweet barn cat Mosby. We cannot wait to come back!

We really enjoyed our visit! The house was perfect. We were so happy just relaxing on the deck and in the hot tub. We lost power only briefly but the generator kicked on so no real interruption. We found it hard to leave and head back home. Thank you for the wine as well as such a beautiful place to spend our vacation.

We had a wonderful stay at The Barn and would come back again in a heartbeat! Dawn and Damond were friendly, approachable, and provided all kinds of local recommendations during our visit. Their apartment was spotless, light, and equipped with just about everything one could need. We'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, especially small families with children. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay and can’t wait to go back. We spent a lot of time on the enclosed patio which is utterly charming with all the decorations, lights and plants . Bed is super comfortable and I enjoyed looking at the amazing book collection . I had the pleasure of meeting Jeffrey and his wife in person. They have created a true haven for travelers .

Julia's place is an Idyllic setting - so tranquil, yet close enough to a great tavern for dinner. Amazing - we cannot wait to come back.

This was my wife and I's first time away without kids in 20 years. It was the most relaxing stay we could have imagined. It's a 7 hour drive from our home, we stumbled upon it while visiting friends in TN, and we needed a place to spend a night on our way home, my wife said she would travel 7 hours back to spend a long weekend. It was worth every penny to us. It is a slice of heaven on earth. If you enjoy listening to nature this is the place, we fell asleep hearing the wind gently blow through the trees, awoke to the birds, and had a mix of rain drops overnight. We have traveled as full time RVers for 10 years, and have lived all over the US, we considered buying a 40ft catamaran, and sailing the high seas, however after one night, we know a yurt is something we will own and live in as our children move out and it's just the 2 of us. The weekend was just what we wanted, it was beautiful, private and relaxing. Claudia had the place ready early. It had everything we needed. I would visit again.

Patricia was an amazing hostess. Very gracious made it a home away from home. It was hard to leave for our concert nearby. Very relaxing cabin,we even slept very well there. Normally we don’t sleep well when we are away from home.

Great place to get away. Location is in the quiet, peaceful countryside with spectacular views of the James River as well as the mountains.

Cheryl was so communicative and my group had such a good time in this beautiful location and lovely home. Notable pros: great view, well equipped kitchen, incredibly clean, VERY dog friendly, nice back porch, comfy couches / the only downside (but not a complaint) is that the hill to get up to the house is a bit scary. we (3 cars) made it with no issues but it did make us a bit nervous, and made walks from and back to the airbnb somewhat difficult. there's alt parking at the bottom but it is a very difficult walk up the hill. but the elevation made for incredible views! without a doubt I'd recommend this place!!

We had an amazing time. The house was perfect for us. We really enjoyed the pool and short walk to the beach. We could hear the ocean from the master suite. The upstairs deck had view of the water. Everything about our stay was perfect. The area was nice and was quiet and peaceful. We will definitely go back and stay longer next year. Thank you!!!

Brad’s place was very spacious and just what we were looking for! I would definitely recommend for a single traveler or couple. Looking forward to our next trip there.

We had a wonderful getaway at Seths place in Rockingham. Perfect location for a group of 12 girlfriends that wanted to relax. Loved the pool and the porch/patio! Felt like Tuscany. Seth and Carla were extremely responsive to the couple of small issues we had. Definitely recommend.

Everything was great! The room was comfortable, clean, and the view was beautiful. It is in a great location with many restaurants in walking distance. Parking is close and convenient. We had a great trip and would recommend to others!

Cindy and Bills Airbnb was amazing and even better than we could have imagined. It was so cute and comfortable! We sat on the deck, drinking wine, and had a beautiful view complete with Alpacas! It was close to FarmVille which was great! We will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful long weekend here, enjoying all the beauty of Smith Mountain Lake. We rented a boat, played mini-golf, walked along the lake, and ate great food. This condo is the perfect location to relax and play.

Staying with Mr Jane was a pleasure. The location was perfect, the apartment was cozy and spotless. The place was well-equipped and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. This is a peaceful downstairs apartment with private entry and beautiful backyard with swimming pool. Mrs Jane was always available to answer our questions. unforgettable experience! We loved our stay at this condo in Wintergreen. The condo was beautifully furnished. Very clean. And the views from the balcony are unbelievable. Since it was spring, it was very quiet which we enjoyed. The mountains were so lush and green. The host responded to any questions within minutes. Check out was a breeze. We will be booking again!
