Vacation rentals with lake access in Te Waipounamu / South Island

We made a huge mistake when only booking this place for part of our stay. My thought was to jump around the South Island with my family at a couple stops. Had I known it was this awesome, then I would’ve booked our whole time at Anna’s. This place is exactly what my family loves. The kids will definitely be complaining about where we stay next. This property is AWESOME.

We absolutely adored staying at Te Awa Lodge on our recent trip to Wanaka. It was a gorgeous riverside home with an amazing hot tub and sauna, which we loved using after our hikes. Graeme and Carolyn were such warm, welcoming hosts and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The property is easily accessible to Wanaka (10-15 min) and Mount Aspiring (1 hour) . Would highly recommend to anyone in the area!

A delightful place. Set in real cool surroundings with a great view over the lake. Kayaks and the hot tub are a great bonus. Although the hot tub takes a long time to heat. But well worth it.

This crib is all about the view which is clearly spectacular. No other reviews have referenced the property’s layout which I will do here - not as a criticism, but as an observation so that folks can take same into consideration. The property has 2 bedrooms - however they are effectively joined (wth a small ante room in between) meaning that the second bedroom can only be accessed via the first bedroom. This arrangement is certainly noted in the property description; however it’s not apparent from the photos. Folks may need to take this arrangement into account, depending on who they’re sharing with, noting that the occupant of the second bedroom needs to pass through the first bedroom to access the bathroom. A beautiful home with a truly spectacular view!! It felt so peaceful to sit in front of the fireplace and just look out over the lake. It was more than enough space for the 5 of us to really relax. Hot tub was a great bonus!

The Bivy was beautiful and exactly like the pictures! The area was peaceful and quiet and was a perfect location for our trip to Milford Sound. Carolyn’s instructions were very clear and she offered plenty of great recommendations for the area.

The location of this home in Kingston is just breathtaking. The lake, the mountains, the quaint little town -- all of it is perfect. It is a 45-ish minute drive from Queenstown, but that was a plus for us as we had day trips planned to Milford Sound and Invercargill. Plus, the drive to Queenstown is so beautiful. The house was very clean and cozy. We made ample use of the washing machine (which conveniently has a dryer option as well). I would highly recommend a stay at Ian's.

We had a wonderful stay at Jan’s place. We loved all of the details and the interesting art, books and furniture. It felt really homely and there were lots of helpful and thoughtful touches. The beds were all really comfortable with lovely fresh linen. Jan was an incredible host who really made sure that our stay was enjoyable. She was accommodating with a few last minute changes and always responded to messages promptly. We will definitely be booking a stay at Jans the next time we are in Otematata.

Such a beautiful home! The view was truly astounding. And the location was perfect. Very clean and comfortable house — everything provided for. And Deborah was an extremely helpful and friendly host! Can’t wait to come back!

Loved the place. It was exactly as described and better than I could imagine. Everything was easy and smooth. Lyndal is always there to help you with anything. Overall, great way to make our Queenstown trip memorable.

The best Airbnb stay we have had to date! Such a beautiful property right on the lake with water views. The property has access to the Queenstown trail that takes you directly to Queenstown and connects to many other beautiful trails that you can walk/bike. The property is exactly as described but the photos do not do it justice - we will definitely be back!

The kitchen is well-equipped, the interior is clean and tidy, and there is an intelligent ventilation system. Parking is convenient. The surrounding environment is quiet. It is highly recommended for people who come to Queenstown and don't like the noise of the city. It is also relatively close to Glenorchy for horse riding. I look forward to having the opportunity to experience it again!

Perfect crash pad right on the lake with everything that was needed for a weeks stay.

It’s such a comfortable and cozy place at a very convenient location! Kirsty is an amazing host! She replied to our messages promptly and even turned on the lights for us as we arrived at night. I loved this cottage. I felt right at home. I liked the extra touches of fruit and cereal along with a great shower. I enjoyed being close to the lake for an evening walk. I would definitely stay again.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in Snowshoe Cottage, amidst stunning scenery in quiet and peaceful surrounding area and fantastic walks. We especially loved the amazing sunrise and sunset from just outside her house, virtually at the doorstep! We appreciate the comfortable furnishings and thoughtful decor throughout the house.

I absolutely loved this farmstay! It exceeded my expectations — from the peaceful farm setting to the stunning mountain views. Such a tranquil and refreshing experience. We could see the stars clearly at night which was amazing. Charlotte was so kind and checked in to make sure everything was going well — very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the cottage. It was so cosy and everything had been thought of - comfortable bed, skylight for stargazing, outdoor bath and even slippers. We appreciated all the baby items that were set up and the toys and books. It’s in a great location and a short drive to so many great walks and scenic spots. Excellent cottage! Beautiful courtyard, nice view and quite. There is a red folder provide all information including home appliances manual. Welcome cookie and warmfirplace have been set up before arrived. Highly recommend for all Airbnb user!

Homely and comfortable stay with great amenities!

Very roomy and comfortable accommodation. Large bathroom with a fabulous tub. We used the washer and dryer…very handy. Heated floors kept the place warm and cosy. Kitchen is well equipped. Would stay there again. Thanks Peter and Yanli.
