Guesthouse vacation rentals in Te Waipounamu / South Island

My stay in Blueskin Bay was approaching the two year anniversary of my daughter’s death. I was seeking to have solitude to reflect and honour her memory. Helen and Sam’s Airbnb was perfect in this respect - in spite of the fact that my visit coincided with very cold snap. The space was able to be kept warm and cosy with electric blanket, electric oil freestanding heater and dehumidifier. I appreciated the kind touches designed to make feel welcome. I found Helen and Sam to be kind welcoming hosts. Their accommodation became for me an ideal ‘hermitage’ in my journey of grief and loss. Its proximity to the Church where my daughter’s ashes are was ideal. I enjoyed walking around the Orokonui Lagoon when the weather permitted and enjoyed a couple of ales at the nearby ARC brewery at Warrington. Waitati is well served with two cafes and a boutique grocery store. Thanks Helen and Sam

Stu’s guesthouse was a lovely getaway in New Zealand! Close to Queenstown, ZQN airport, and to many outdoor activities. Very peaceful and private, soft linens, and felt right at home. It’s clear that this is not a cookie cutter Airbnb, but a real guesthouse, and it shows in the fit and finish of the property, and Stu’s helpful and kind approach to hosting. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

We loved our stay at Robyn’s Airbnb. It was located a short drive away from both the city centre and the airport. The Airbnb was very clean and a great size for the two of us and all of our luggage and the bed was super comfortable. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we drove onto the property.

Very peaceful, private and sunny. Felt like it was brand new. Anita is so friendly. And the home made bread was delish! Would highly recommend.

Linda was such a great host! She organised an amazing breakfast plate for us to enjoy over the two days. Provided toys and bath items for the baby. And gave us all the blankets to make sure we would be warm. She left some food for us to feed the sheep, that was very nice of her. We were able to walk around the property and meet the dog :)

Outstanding property just beautiful. By far the best Airbnb we have stayed at. Lots of surprise added extras chocolates on arrival, selection of herbal teas, coffee machine, selection of cereals for breakfast. Every part of this place had those little extras. Extra towels, perfect bathroom, with good hot water pressure. lovely linen on a good quality comfortable bed. The place was perfectly cleaned, warm, quiet and private with the most magnificent view. This new modern place is a must stay for anyone passing though it’s just beautiful.

Clare’s studio in Methven is an absolute gem! The place is incredibly peaceful and beautifully set up – perfect for a relaxing getaway. Everything was spotless and thoughtfully arranged, making it feel like a little retreat. Clare is a fantastic host, super responsive and easy to communicate with throughout the whole stay. For the price, the value is honestly unbeatable. I felt like I got way more than I paid for. I’ll definitely be booking again next time I’m in the area. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Zelda’s place in Twizel! The apartment was cozy, clean, and had a beautiful view of the mountains — truly a perfect spot to unwind. Its location was also ideal, being just a short drive to the town center with easy access to supermarkets and great local restaurants. Zelda was an incredibly kind and welcoming host, and we really appreciated her hospitality. It was also such a joy to meet her lovely dog, Bea — she made our stay even more special. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us, Zelda. We’d love to return one day!

What a great place, with peaceful backyard and lovely neighborhood. This place has everything you might need for a great stay and Angela is the sweetest. Highly recommended.

Cosy and beautiful apartment with a nice view to boot! Came with a nice little garden with a tree house and trampoline that kids will always want to jump in. About 8 min into the main town.

A lovely warm and comfortable cottage in beautiful private surroundings an easy 15 minute drive from Hokitika township. Deborah made us feel right at home and gave useful suggestions for local walks and things to do. Having a fully equipped kitchen was great, and the king-size bed was very comfortable. We highly recommend the cottage to others and hope we can stay again in the future.

This is the second time my Husband and I have stayed here, and it is literally perfect. As long as it's available it will always be our first choice. The home itself is stunning, cosy, all new and so pristine. The hosts go out of their way to make you feel at home, leaving coffee, tea, hot chocolate etc, bread, spreads, cereal, milk, yogurts and fruit, as well as a couple of drinks to celebrate a trip away. They also leave feed for the beautiful deer, sheep and alpaca who are so friendly and will eat from your hand! The view from this place is breathtaking, and only a 10 minute drive to the beach and town. Perfect!

Awesome stay! Very cozy and comfy. There’s also a dog and cat that wonder around the property and love to say hi!

We had a fantastic stay in Oxford at Helen’s stunning Airbnb. Cosy warm private, beautifully done with lots of homely touches. The fireplace was a huge bonus. Great little town with everything you need to get away. Had a few challenges getting the address due to the late check in but once that was sorted everything else was very smooth. Would definitely recommend this place and we would love to stay again
