Train vacation rentals in Southern United States

This is the second time that we have stayed with Donnie. The first time was in one of the cabooses. This time we stayed in The Depot. Both of these places were as described and pictured! I had good enough phone service that we did not miss having WiFi and there was cable for television. I had two children with me, an eight year old and a twelve year old, and they were both fine there! And we could look out the front door and see Buffalo Mountain. Because of Hurricane Helene damage, we did not get to go there but it was not for lack of trying! Sunday morning before we left, I got to see a deer in the pasture behind the depot! And some beautiful sunrises!

We wanted to do something unique & different for our anniversary & this did NOT disappoint. From the “main” road you can see the 3 red cabooses up on the hill & our hearts smiled. They recently had storms & we could see where the flood waters deteriorated the sides of the driveway but it was still wide enough for us to pass another small vehicle if needed. Office Check in was a breeze and took less than five mins before we were standing in our getaway train(caboose) which is on a real track! We were the only ones staying this weekend but if others were present, there was plenty of room. Our furbabies throughly enjoyed having a large field in front of the cabooses to run in. The views from the swings were breathtaking especially during the sunsets. Once Inside, we enjoyed the comforts of home (except for a stove). The hotness of the water & the relaxing hot tub added to our experience. Some things were dated but that is to come with the territory. We hope to visit again in the fall.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Mo-Pac caboose on your beautiful and peaceful ranch. It was such a unique experience—quiet, relaxing, and a great way to disconnect. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the stay for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with a unique twist! Thank you for being a great host.

Beautiful location, place as described. Jacuzzi was great. Lots of hot water. Good water pressure, good shower. Bed was comfortable. Donnie was helpful and responsive.

We stayed with our two dogs at Donnie's caboose over Thanksgiving while visiting family in the area. The location was great and super close to our family. It was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again!

Clean! Smelled great too. Geat distance (within 10min) to hiking (Ash Cave) in one direction and then a pizzeria with all kinds of drinks and snacks in the other. On a fairly traveled road in front, but also a great small space to explore right behind and firepit. Well kept! It was great for our young family. Very fun.

Exactly as described. Great for a couple retreat and if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. We can’t wait for our next trip back.

Perfect and secluded. It was wonderful for our much needed getaway. Deb has obviously put a lot of time and thought into this place and we’re so glad we were able to see it for ourselves. Everything was fantastic

What an incredible stay! From the obvious uniqueness of the train. Each bunk room had its own unique theme, but they all had the original hardware and cubbies form the day! The outside patio we enjoyed cooking out, playing games (they provide so many fun games!) while listening to music and taking in the view….Oh. The view! Especially in the morning! Sunrise, and there was a fog lifting, birds, nature. The whole thing was a dream. Can’t wait to stay again. Not to mention how thoughtful Niki and Chuck were. Our weekend was mostly rained out, but they did everything in their power to help make the stay great. I really can’t say enough about the place and the great hosts. Thank you for sharing the experience with us ❤️

The place looks just like the pictures. We had the whole place to ourselves which made it a very unique experience. The railroad car with surprisingly quite for being under the highway and the beds were comfy. A great place to stay if you want to talk to the stadium. Thank you Mykas for hosting us and we will be back.

We stayed at the Caboose for our honeymoon and it was the perfect getaway! Pete was the perfect host and we would highly recommend the place to anyone looking for a getaway to Asheville.

What a charming little property! You will really enjoy this quaint and quiet tiny house. The vintage train decor and nods to Hwy 61 will give you nostalgia. The place has a fully functional bathroom and kitchnette. The host had plenty of snacks and toiletries for your travel needs. There were even board games. This place is private and has its own parking area. I enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch for morning coffee. The host is very kind and responsive to needs. I will absolutely stay here again when in the area. Thank you Amy!

This place exceeded all my expectations. It was spotless, conveniently located, and I loved the sound of trains passing by. The check-in process was effortless, and the check-out instructions were clear. Finding an Airbnb this great is rare, and I’ll definitely be requesting to stay here again.

I used this beauty of a train car as my first brand trip location. Not only did I absolutely love place, there was so much space to spread out for 6 of us! Enough restrooms and hot water for everyone to use and just a beautiful and elegant space in every room. Two people can prepare dinner perfectly in the kitchen and cook enough for all the guests. Just the most unique stay I’ve had and with the best photo opps!! Hope to make this my go to stay every native fashion week!

I was pleasantly surprised by the at the fact it was a real train car and the inside maintained a great vibe without being “over done” with decor. Everything was squeaky clean. No complaints!

Check out the other rental s on this property if this is booked, stayed lots of places all over , but this place is awesome, a train car that only thing missing is it moving down the tracks , so many neat things, inside and out , you will not regret this stay . Plus Ev charging available just bring your mobile charger was there two days got a full charge, left a little cash for the trouble. Just message them after booking, very helpful folks . I live not to far away from there , but will stay again with my kids , book fast before it’s booked up .

Brenda's place was exactly as described. Check-in/ Check out was a breeze and all the relevant instructions were provided ahead of time. My time there was peaceful and relaxing, I would not hesitate to stay there again.

We had a great experience staying in one of Kelly’s River of Love Cabins!! The Caboose was so cozy and compact an had everything we needed, I would most definitely recommend for a couples get away.

Amazing! What an excellent stay for my family and me! The remodeled caboose was beautiful inside while keeping many of the original components. The farmland that it overlooks is stunning. The owners were extremely kind and allowed us to walk around the land/barn. They also allowed the children to meet the animals and brush a horse. Awesome place for a unique romantic get-away or a family trip!

The Train is a must see! It’s beautiful down to every detail. I love knowing the history. Brandon is a wonderful host

The caboose was wonderful it’s in a very nice quiet area. We spent some nights out by the fire just listening to the wildlife. We will definitely stay again!

We loved the Red Rock Caboose. It is quirky and different but I would assume if you're looking at this, you're somebody who likes that. It is an easy .5 mile walk to many really good restaurants on South Colorado (ignore Google Maps walking directions and walk to 26th). We really enjoyed the Red Rocks Open Space and hiked up to the quarry. It was an easy drive to all the other attractions we cared about. As others have said, if you're bigger than 6' at about 190, you may find the bathroom a bit cramped. Kaitlyn was completely awesome and wins the award for the quickest responses from a host EVER! The place was well maintained, clean, snacks and water were a lovely touch. There are no screens on the windows, so if you're like us and would rather fresh air than A/C, be advised... but there were remarkably few bugs. All in all it was exactly what we were looking for and with a perfect host.
