The highest village in Cornwall is Minions which is a mere 4 miles from Lestitha Farm on the south east corner of Bodmin Moor, and has a wealth of ancient archeological sites dating from the early bronze age onwards and they are really popular with walkers and hikers, these include the Hurlers, three stone circles dated at around 1500 BC, a line through the centre of them brings you to Rillaton Barrow a large burial mound. Alternatively on the top of Stowes Hill, overlooking Minions, you can see the Cheesering, a natural formation of balancing stones formed during the last ice age and by thousands of years of erosion, the name derives from the shape of the stones and will become patently obvious on viewing! The ancient stannary town of Liskeard is at the head of the Looe Valley and is approximately 12 miles east of Bodmin. Liskeard is one of the few remaining towns in Cornwall to still have a livestock market. It serves a number of small surrounding villages and is the gateway to Bodmin Moor. Liskeard is also the starting point of the Liskeard to Looe railway, one of the most scenic railway trips in the country and a delightful day out! Bodmin Moor, bisected by the newly expanded A 30 is home to one of Cornwall's Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Reaching a height of 1,377 feet above sea level at Brown Willy, Cornwall's highest point. The heather covered granite moorland provides East Cornwall with the most stunning country views and rugged walks. Near Blisland you will find two of Cornwall's stone circles, the Trippet Stones and Stripple Stone Henge and just round the corner, one end of the famous Camel Trail. The 18 mile Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths, providing a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge out to Padstow, eminently suitable for families. The National Lobster Hatchery at Padstow neighbours Rick Steins empire on the North Coast. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who have been winning awards for their home grown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have a number of properties nearby - Lanhydrock House, Trerice, Cotehele and Antony (used for Disney's Alice in Wonderland), Carnewas and Bedruthan Steps. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. To the east is the Tamar Valley, a stunning, quiet, picturesque region with some beautiful villages including Calstock with its impressive Viaduct dominating the village, Calstock Quay was originally used for transportation of tin as there is a deep water navigable channel at the top of the tides, although the construction of the Tamar Valley Railway in the early 20th century led to most cargo being transported by rail. Further up stream is Morwellham Quay with its fantastic open air museum, Morwellham Quay has been awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO, the cultural arm of the UN, and is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape. Originally set up by the Benedictine Monks from Tavistock Abbey in 961 as a trading route to Plymouth via the Tamar. Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town on the edge of Dartmoor and just across the border in Devon, it has a wealth of fine pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and tourist attractions.
  • Relaxation.... Rural retreat, exactly when we were looking for. Within driving distance of amenities. Absolutely perfect

  • My husband and I along with our spaniel Henry spent 4 nights in this cosy barn. Unfortunately the weather was quite bad and we were unable to use the Hot Tub but we made good use of the wood burner in the evening. Highly recommended! The views were amazing and was a great central location for travelling around Cornwall.

    Kate2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely space in a lovely location! The hot tub has a fantastic view and for days when it was wet and cold the fire was perfect. The scones on arrival and tips about the local area were great fully accepted. Everything was clean and tidy and there was everything needed for us to cook as well. Can't fault this place!

  • Fantastic weekend away in Cornwall. The Shippon was spotless when we arrived and Rita was very welcoming offering the traditional cream tea. The hot tub was a fantastic addition to the house and we spent nights relaxing under the stars. Would highly recommend The Shippon for a stay away!

    Nicole2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Shippon and the location was fantastic just what we were looking for. The hot tub was amazing and used most evenings even though the weather wasn’t the best. The one clear night was amazing with all the stars out. Would definitely recommend and would absolutely go back again.

The studio is modern, spacious and light, with well-equipped kitchen and cosy living space, wood burner and views across the garden into ancient woodlands. We are in a designated area of 'outstanding landscape beauty' rich in historical sites.
Our studio apartment is light and spacious, attached to our recently self built ecohome. It has a wood burner and well-equipped living/kitchen space. There is a sofa bed on the ground floor which can be used for an extra guest or two by arrangement. We provide sheets and towels. Eco features include heat recovery ventilation, photovoltaic panels, solar thermal panels, high levels of insulation and heating using logs from our 8 acres of deciduous woodland. Water is from our own spring. There is a short film showing the building of the house on the website of co-host tonyhillfilms.
East Cornwall offers easy access to all the county has to offer in terms of tourist attractions. It's ideal for people who want to spend some time in an unspoilt rural area slightly off the beaten tourist track - no crowds or traffic problems. Moors and beaches, Heligan and the Eden Project are within easy driving distance for days out. Plymouth is near enough for evening entertainment.
  • My husband and I had a really lovely time staying at Pat and Tony’s beautiful air b&b. Such a beautiful space with so many lovely small touches- we especially loved the homemade bread and jam that were waiting for us. Tony was super friendly and helpful and gave us so many tips for the local area. Definitely would recommend if you’re looking to stay in Cornwall!

  • One of the nicest places we have stayed. A gorgeous space, set in a beautiful woodland with a river near by. If you want a place to unwind, and cosy up by the fire after walks on the moor I can not recommend it highly enough. Thanks very much to Pat and Tony

    Flora2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the eco house. A lovely, light house with a really spacious feel. Tony made us feel very welcome, and the house has everything necessary for a very comfortable stay. The directions to the house were easy to follow, and although off the beaten track it was not at all hard to find.

  • We had a fantastic time. Fantastic hosts and a beautiful home. Exactly what we needed to de-stress.

  • Beautiful place in beautiful surroundings. Really well put together place and feels a lot bigger than it actually is. If you like quirky with great amenities, this is definitely the place for you! Tony, who greeted us upon our arrival, was very gracious and gave some great tips about the local area. Cannot recommend this enough :)

On the edge of Bodmin Moor but just eight miles from the sea at Looe, Homestead offers excellent accommodation with en-suite plus family bathrooms in a beautiful barn conversion and is geared up to support your activity holiday in Cornwall. Coronavirus: we ensure all key surfaces are disinfected between guest visits and any used crockery and cutlery is rewashed in the dishwasher, as well as making sure you have a good supply of clean towels, soap, tissues and disposable aprons and gloves.
Homestead is a recent barn conversion in a former farm yard, with a good mix of barn features, such as beams and wooden floors, and modern fittings, particularly in the bathrooms, en-suites and kitchen. Under floor heating and wood burning stoves ensure the house is always comfortable. We will make up the beds and supply towels and basic toiletries for your stay.
Liskeard and its surrounding area is an ancient stannary town with much to explore in terms of mining and railway heritage. The proximity of Bodmin Moor means that Homestead is an ideal location for walking, trail running and riding holidays. We are also on the End to End route for cyclists and close to three great mountain biking facilities. Bodmin Moor offers great opportunities for landscape painting and bird watching. We also have a dark sky filled with stars on a clear night. We can give you details of our favourite cafes and pubs.
  • This cottage is set in a beautiful part of the country. Hosts are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. It’s a really lovely cottage with ample space for 6 adults. The facilities in the kitchen are excellent. All rooms are very well decorated and clean. There’s a warm cosy feel to the place, the wood burning fire adds a lovely touch to the end of a long day. A beautiful stay

    Bella2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Family of 4 absolutely loved stayed here. The barn was just beautiful and we especially enjoyed the big bath tubs and wood burner! Lots of lovely little touches and Geoff even kindly took our daughter to see their horses in the morning. Superb hosting skills, lots of local tips, and the beds were supposed we comfy too!

    Laura2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • My parents and I stayed at Ann's place for one night whilst in Cornwall to attend a wedding - to be honest we would have been happy to stay much longer! The accommodation is really a home away from home, with all the amenities and comforts you might need. The check in was quick and straightforward and communications easy throughout. This would be a great place for a family or larger group as you can comfortably fit 6 and it would be a great base to explore the area. In short, I would recommend!

    Rosa2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed 2 nights over new years eve at this beautiful home. Ann and Geoff were incredible hosts and provided us with lots of ideas for where to go during our stay, though we spent most of our time simply relaxing in front of the log burner. It's a large converted barn spread over 2 floors, has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the bottom floor and kitchen, lounge dining area and en suite bedroom in the top floor. All rooms are fantastic, clean, warm, spacious and well thought out. The kitchen is really well equipped, has 2 fridges a dishwasher, fan oven, microwave and induction hob. The lounge TV is massive and has access to Netflix and Amazon video if you're a subscriber. Each bedroom also has a TV too. Lots of board games and DVDs are available for use too. And if you stay, I'd highly recommend a pasty from Barnecutts bakery - absolutely sensational ☺️

    Greg2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • You will not find a better place to stay with everything that you need and so many thoughtful touches not least the lovely Christmas tree and decorations. You will definitely not be cold here the wood burner is amazing. Thank you so much Ann and Geoff.

  • A very warm welcome and gorgeous accommodation with a log burner and fantastic open spaces. Lovely comfortable beds and special finishing touches. Visiting in December the house was stunning and decorated beautifully. Thank you we would love to visit again

  • The perfect base for exploring Cornwall. Ann was so helpful in providing tips for spots for a swim, and places to eat. We ended up in the quarry and with the beautiful fire to come back to the cold winter water didn't seem so bad! The perfect trip!

NO BOOKINGS APRIL/MAY In Liskeard, but with a country feel. A haven away from busy tourist areas with the advantage of easy access to coast & moors. A 2 minute walk from Liskeard Railway Station & the stunning Looe Valley Line. Perfect for those travelling/exploring by train. The town centre is a 10 minute level walk & still has many independant shops including the award Liskeard is ideally placed for exploring SE Cornwall. An ideal base for walkers with town, country & heritage shops.
Light, airy & spacious. Would describe the decor as vintage with a contemporary vibe. We try to be as eco friendly as possible. Autentico paints have been used through out, duvet covers are Seasalt organic cotton and we use Method cleaning products. Free Wifi available.
Tremeddan is a small terrace of old railway cottages built in the late 1800's. Ours has been converted into two and we have the top floor with its own private access through our private, small courtyard at the back of the terrace. The trees in the lane are a haven for birds who sing away merrily morning & evening. There is no parking, but there's access to the property via the narrow lane and you can stop & load/unload. Be aware it is nicely overgrown and your car will rub againts it and there are some brambles. Please assess the road before deciding whether you wish to use it. On road parking is available & places on the Business Park opposite. As back up there is a railway car park, £2 a day, as yet none of our guests have had to use it.
  • Denise's place was lovely, was nice to have a fire ready for our arrival! In the centre of Liskeard which was convenient for town or exploring nearby.

  • Accurate description of the property and surroundings excellent host with good communication between host and the guests

    Daniel2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Denise’s place is exactly as described, cosy and comfortable with everything you need to relax. Its in a perfect location to visit everywhere and although we didn’t use the little train as it was wet and windy, that would be a plus. Denise greeted us on arrival and made us very welcome with practical advice. Its spotlessly clean and we loved the log burner. The little touches were thoughtful and homely like fresh milk and flowers on the table. Can highly recommend it and was cosy and just right for us as a couple looking for a mini break. Denise is the perfect host! Eric & Jan

My place is close to pretty Cornish Villages, Bodmin moor, Looe, the sea, great views. My place is good for couples and solo adventurers. It's a perfect off grid retreat for those that need to get away from it all.
The Shepherds Hut is a beautiful cosy space with one double bed and one single bunk. It is basic but beautiful, with a wood burning stove for cosy nights in or for cooking on (bring your own wood or £5 small bucket/large sack £10- please can you message us beforehand if you wood like wood from us) utensils supplied. The Eco Hut is insulated so is suitable for stays over winter months too. Have a look at our reviews & read what our previous guests have experienced. There is a compost loo with an electric shower, fire pit and BBQ as well as s field kitchen with the very basic essentials. In the kitchen is a gas over, with grill & 4 gobs and a fridge. Please be aware this is a shared space but it’s great for longer stays. The hut is totally off grid, so if you are looking to get away from things then this may be the perfect place. Top tip -Bring a rechargeable battery pack for phones! Situated on our organic smallholding, the farm has beautiful countryside views and is only a short drive from Bodmin Moor, Looe, the Eden Project, as well as the coast path & other beautiful walks. Liskeard train station is 10 minutes drive. The field kitchen is a shared space with our bell tent guests( summer only) but we only have lovely guests so I’m sure this won’t be a problem! This year we are creating a veg patch for the eco hut with cut & come again salads, edible flowers and beans etc so please bring your gardening gloves with you! We know there is nothing nicer than picking fresh salad leaves and want to share this with our guests :)
Cornwall is the best place to visit :) You can walk to the Deer Park (forest holidays) at Herodsfoot (approx 1 hour of good walking), where you can get a local Cornish Orchards Cider on tap or have a pizza. Beautiful beaches & cornish pasties! Pubs in Duloe, Pelynt and Dobwalls.
  • Amazing stay in a beautiful hut and wonderful hosts!

    Arianwen2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • A quiet and peaceful setting. Comfortable space and the fire is perfect for February weather. Nothing better than watching the wind and mizzle coming in across the valley, being warm and dry, beer in hand. The field kitchen is ideally suited for 1 or 2, very cosey. Laura and Steve are very welcoming, and know of some nice easy walks around, off the main roads. Will be coming back for sure 😁👍🏼.

  • Wonderful place to stay to get away from it all! Really special and friendly family too. I cant recommend this place enough!

    Rose2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable space, warmth of a fire and an awesome wood burner, green nature sounds animals and friendly people, nourishing place :)

    Jack2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Laura and Steve's place is a little heavenly nest in beautiful nature. If you need some time away in a great setting, with all the equipment needed, this is perfect. They are really friendly, thoughtful, reliable hosts and beautiful people! We wished we could have stayed longer.

  • This air bnb is a very special place. secluded, romantic and the stove is definitely the highlight of the hut

    Bill2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the shepherds hut which is perfect if you get beautiful weather like we did, watching the sun setting over the valley from the window and being able to look at the stars from the bed at night. The view is amazing and the garden is natural and alive with birdsong. We also had regular visits from one of the chickens who was apparently partial to a cup of Earl Grey tea! This is a perfect place for artists to retreat to and you could easily be tempted not to leave the site. The hut provides ample well designed storage for a small space, the bed is comfortable and the stove easy to light making it very cosy. Laura and her family are very friendly & interesting people who respect your privacy but also happy to stop for a chat when you see them. It was lovely meeting you all - thanks!

    Carol2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location, welcoming family and a unique experience. I felt very comfortable and relaxed the entire time during my stay, and I met some lovely people within the family hosting the air bnb. I would thoroughly reccomend it to others.

  • Glen Silva was the perfect getaway location, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were made to feel extremely welcome by Lorraine and Jeff. The cottage was clean, cosy and modern, we weren’t too far away from Looe so could drive there with ease. Definitely a five star stay, I’d highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet stay with beautiful surroundings. Thank you Lorraine, Jeff and Blue for your hospitality.

  • We had a wonderful time staying in Don's cottage, it was clean, cosy and had everything we could've needed. We only stayed three nights but could've stayed for a lot longer! The cottage looks beautiful in the photos but even better in person, it's perfect. We will miss Jeeves and the chickens, who greeted us on the doorstep every morning. We highly recommend staying, thank you Don.

  • Would recommend this cottage, peaceful location with wonderful views.

  • We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at Don's cottage, we had everything we needed and felt very welcome. There is a lot to explore around Cornwall in short driving distance, so as Heligan gardens or the Bodmin Moor. Don was a perfect host, we found some fresh bread, milk and butter in the kitchen when we arrived and if Don was not around he answered very quickly when we had a question. We highly recommend Owl-Cottage in every aspect!

  • This is a stunning cozy stone cottage, hidden away in the countryside. Perfect location for great days out with the family.

    Ros2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Had a fantastic weeks stay in Liskeard Saint Ive. Dom the host was really helpful and knowledgable, when we arrived was was greeted with freshly baked homemade bread which was a nice touch. The cottage is located in a great place with local pubs and shops near by, lots of local attractions to visit and great hiking locations with unbelievable scenes. The cottage had a wood stove which was always nice to end the day with, every morning his 2 chickens would visit us along with his cat Jeeves. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

    Miranda2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful with amazing views. Don was a lovely host, leaving personal touches such as homemade bread which was absolutely delicious. The cottage is nearby brilliant places such as Polperro and Fowe which we loved exploring, even in the rain. We would love to come back again - thank you Don.

  • We had a wonderful stay. Nice house, beautiful garden, a sweet cat and two curious chicken. Thank you, Don!

    Stephan2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spend some wonderful days at Don’s. The house is lovely, clean and has everything you need even sun loungers. The garden is very beautiful and the cat and the chickens might be very curious but also extremely adorable. The house is located in the middle of the countryside but the location is great if you want to go on day trips. The bread that was waiting for us when we arrived was delicious and butter, milk and some juice were also already in the fridge. All in all, an amazing stay and we’d love to came back!

Dozmary Pool is one of the sites that lay claim to be the home of the Lady of the Lake, where King Arthur rowed out to meet her and receive Excalibur, it is also thought to be where Sir Bedeveer returned Excalibur when King Arthur lay dying after the battle of Camlaan. Whatever the truth it is a stunning spot! King Arthurs influence stretches all the way to Tintagel where the castle could have been the legendary Camelot and the finding of 'Arthurs Stone' in 1998 has only fuelled these myths. - Merlin is thought to be still found walking under Tintagel Island.North Cornwall is as famous for its rugged coastline as it is for its surfing. You can hire surf boards and equipment from Polzeath, up as far as Bude and Widemouth Bay. Boscastle is the only natural harbour for 20 miles and at low tides and certain weather conditions you can find a blowhole at the mouth of the harbour. Port Isaac is the location of the televisions series Poldark and more recently Doc Martin, as well as being a gorgeous working fishing village. The National Trust have three properties nearby Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell.Bodmin Jail built in 1778, notorious for its public executions by hanging, was the first jail to be built housing inmates in individual cells. The Jail closed in 1927 and is now a museum open to the public, which during the First World War housed the Crown Jewels and the Doomsday Book. The famous Camel Trail follows the route of the old railway along traffic free paths for 18 miles, providing the whole family with a fairly flat cycle through Bodmin and Wadebridge, and out to Padstow where you can sample Rick Steins famous Fish and Chips. The market town of Launceston is the capital of Cornwall and well worth a visit to see the church of St Mary Magdelene, with granite carvings, unusual among Cornish churches.
  • Great host. Our stay was just what we wanted ,nice friendly people and even gave us some milk when we arrived without any. Very peaceful and loved the horses in the field. Great for walks and fishing . Jamaica Inn just down the road if we fancied a pint or 2. Will be back . The dog loved it

  • The property is well equipped, very clean and the hosts Brian and Fran were warm and welcoming. I was a little put off after booking (the property is managed by an intermediary agency who's contact was professional but minimal) as I didn't receive the email they thought they'd sent with directions - and you will need these as Google maps doesn't recognise the farm's address. Directions weren't super clear even then, arriving after dark I drove up the wrong lane first (do make sure you wait for the gate with the big farm sign on it). But once I got in contact with the actual owners, everything was different. Fran and Brian went out of their way to welcome me, providing me with fresh farm eggs and bread for breakfast when, due to travel problems, I arrived several hours late into the evening (Dozmary View is a remote place so make sure you come with food, the nearest shop is a few miles away), they lent me a couple of things I'd forgotten and were very friendly, without being intrusive. The view from Brown Gelly, a walk through the farm and up the hill, is superb. It is a working farm so there are a couple of gates to open (and shut!) on driving in and out and dogs that bark on arrival, but generally it is an extremely peaceful place, and very warm and cosy at the start of November when I visited. I'd strongly recommend it.

  • The hosts were lovely , made us feel very welcome ! Freshly made scones and bread when we arrived and were very quickly to accommodate as we were going to be arriving a little early !! The annex was very clean and the bed was very comfy !!

    Dane2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed on our arrival with warm bread and scones, perfect after a long drive. The Annex was bigger than I imagined from the pictures, but still felt cosy and homely and has a lovely garden to wander in. Perfectly situated close to the Moors, we explored places that we may have otherwise missed. We spent a lovely day at the Eden Project (20 or so minutes away) and another at the north coast, exploring old haunts. Christina and Andy were the perfect hosts, there if we needed them, but otherwise leaving us to do our own thing. Plenty of tips on where to visit and where to eat. The Annex had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing short break.

    Mandy2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • My daughter, dog and myself have just spent a wonderful few days at Christina's beautiful annexe. It was lovely and clean and had everything we needed and more! The secure gardens were ideal for our young dog. Christina and her husband Andy were very welcoming and it was a real treat to arrive to fresh bread and scones which were delicious! They also provided really helpful information and tips on the local area, including great places to take the dog for a walk. We had a lovely stay there and would definitely recommend it.

    Hayley2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at many Airbnb locations and even more bed and breakfast places prior to the existence of Airbnb and the Granary Annexe will go down as one of our favorites. When we were departing we felt that Chris' and Andy's place would be hard to beat in our accommodations for the next part of our trip. A wonderful place to rest and a beautiful garden. The town of St. Cleer is an easy walk away. Bread and scones fresh out of the oven when we arrived = divine! Highly recommended if you are staying in the area.

  • What an amazing place to stay at. Andy & Christina were excellent hosts. The Homemade Bread Scones & Jam were lovely and where better to sit and enjoy your cream tea than their beautiful garden. I would thoroughly recommend The Granary it is in a lovely quiet countryside location but still quite close to town.

Perfectly located in mid-Cornwall, 15 mins from the A30 and A38, so ideal for exploring all parts of Cornwall, with many beautiful beaches and historic villages only 30 mins away.
Deceptively spacious, open plan ground floor lounge, kitchen /dining area - with decked balcony and bathroom. The 'Old Classroom' is just 200 yards from the traditional Cornish pub and restaurant and real Cornish ales. There is also a children's play park and village green, with the local shop 300 yards away.
  • Beautiful cosy cottage with amazing views. Location was perfect for exploring Cornwall. Loved every moment of our stay and would love to come back again.

    Mary-Anne2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a super time at this little hidden gem in the most gorgeous village of St Neot. Bearing in mind we arrived during Storm Dennis, the weather did not effect our stay. Ray met us when we arrived and showed us into the property making sure we knew where everything was (a nice touch with the notice board with local information on). We soon settled and relaxed and enjoyed the open plan downstairs, which is a great size space. The place is very clean and tidy too with everything you could need in the kitchen. We all slept very well each night (despite the rain and wind), felt comfortable and at home, and had everything we needed for a 'home from home stay'. The children loved the place, their room was huge, with so many things for them to do-they didn't even get round to opening the trunk with the games in! Lots of things for all ages too. Elmo (our dog) loved the place too!!

  • Wow what a fantastic place! The photos really don't do the Old Classroom justice - it's incredibly spacious. We stayed for 6 days with our 9month old son. It was ideal for a cosy winter break with a curious baby - he enjoyed exploring the large space and the kids bedroom was great for him. We loved the fire and watching the stars from the balcony. The shower is also awesome! Be aware if you're not a very confident reverser the parking space is tricky.

Lovely light bungalow with large sitting/dining area, gas central heating and an electric fire. The modern kitchen has a large American-style fridge freezer, a separate wine fridge, fan oven and induction hob. The main bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is an additional wet-room. Outside there is a wonderful deck with views over the moor and a gravel area for outside dining. The area is great for walking and local history. Situated in a rural village two miles from Liskeard
The bungalow is comfortable and welcoming. It is light and airy in the summer and cosy and warm in the winter. It has three double bedrooms and two bathrooms. It is within easy walking distance to the village, which has a church, two pubs and a garage.

The highest village in Cornwall is Minions which is a mere 4 miles from Penhawger Farm on the south east corner of Bodmin Moor, and has a wealth of ancient archeological sites dating from the early bronze age onwards and they are really popular with walkers and hikers, these include the Hurlers, three stone circles dated at around 1500 BC, a line through the centre of them brings you to Rillaton Barrow a large burial mound. Alternatively on the top of Stowes Hill, overlooking Minions, you can see the Cheesering, a natural formation of balancing stones formed during the last ice age and by thousands of years of erosion, the name derives from the shape of the stones and will become patently obvious on viewing! The town of ancient stannary town of Liskeard is at the head of the Looe Valley and is approximately 12 miles east of Bodmin.

The main living area is great, really spacious and great for relaxing. All bedrooms are good sizes, as are the bathrooms. • Superb welcome to a fully equipped and enormously cosy ‘Swallows Nest’. Although outwardly small the ‘Nest’ is tardis-like with everything needed, or could be needed, for a weekend stay available. Indeed with a full range of kitchen equipment and a washing machine any stay could be much longer. There is more than ample space is the bedroom which contains a comfy bed. We would be more than happy to book the accommodation again and may well do so as our brief visit threw up a most interesting part of the country with unexpected delights.

    Brian2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING in every way. Hosts go out of their way to communicate quickly and ensure it is perfect. Warm, cosy with literally everything you need. Ideal base to explore the area. I will come back again and again. Thank you.

  • Spent three nights at Swallow's Nest while a kitchen was being fitted at a property nearby. The property is lovely — comfortable and cosy, and the spa bath is to die for! In summer the outside space at the back must be idyllic. Very comfortable bed, and excellent TV on tap (Sky, Netflix, etc). Will return if the need ever arises.

    Simon2020-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • This one bedroom barn conversion has everything one can need for a holiday trip. Details are thought of such as providing shampoo, shower gel, etc and also tea, coffee, milk, salt, pepper, etc. It may seem basic but not everyone thinks of this. The amenities are also great, underfloor heating, spa tub (sadly didn't have time to utilise, has to be next time!). Self check in is also easy taking the pressure from arriving at a certain time. It did feel home away from home. And the location is brilliant, 10 minutes drive from Liskeard, in the heart of the countryside. Thank you also for the lovely welcome drink & biscuits :)

  • The accommodation was as described. It was located in the middle of a small farm, and communicating with our hosts was quick and easy as they live on the property themselves. The heating starts quickly, so that when needed for cozy warmth in the house is taken care of. The location is really quiet and centrally located for exploring and exploring Central Cornwall.

  • Gemma was a great host and meet us on arrival, showing us our accommodation. She also shared tips about the local area. Although adjoining the main building we felt we had own space. Gemma also left plenty of local info which was useful. Also there was milk, tea, coffee, fresh bread, butter and homemade jam on arrival - a lovely touch!! Would happily stay again. Thanks Gemma

  • Such a wonderful little place to stay, very cute and out of the way, we thoroughly enjoyed staying here!

  • Fantastic place, very clean, quite big and has everything one would need. it is also quite close to a number of places of interest. All in all a great place to stay. Gareth is a very nice and helpful gent.

  • This was a great spot within easy walking distance of Liskeard Town. The place is well set up with a great bathroom and the woodburner is a real highlight.

    Kim2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a dream place. It is a wooden wonderful house with any comfort but with a preserved sense of essentiality at the same time. The bathroom is huge and with some exquisite details. In particular the shower is big and absolutely modern. The combined bedroom and living room are super comfortable and with plenty of useful things (inter alia, a big desk, a stove, a microwave, boilers, books, kitchenware, several pillows, wifi … and even an plug for foreign electronic appliances). Beds are simply as beds should always be: I slept wonderfully. The garden and the atmosphere surrounding the house make everything perfect. I never found such an incredible place. In addition to this, Gareth is the most fantastic of hosts. A hyper kind, precise, and supportive person. He is also exceptionally discreet but always ready to help or answer questions. I do not recommend this place only, I strongly suggest to go there if you are a respectful person that can appreciate beauty.

Thanks Mark and Maxine for a beautifully furnished apartment to stay in, with stunning views to enjoy from a warm and comfortable interior. What a bonus to have the pub right next door for a tasty evening meal too. Fabulous hosts

  • Despite Storm Dennis, our stay was lovely. The huge bed and shower made for a comfortable stay. The views are outstanding, and it was lovely to wake up to sheep at our window. We ordered food from onsite and it was freshly made and delicious. Hoping to make it back in the summer.

    Zoe2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming and a lovely room to stay. This was our second time staying here would definitely recommend!

  • We had the room in the annexe which had a massive bed and lovely shower room. Spotlessly clean and a fantastic view from the bedroom. The second bedroom is small but was sufficient for our 9 year old grandaughter. Excellent location for walks on the moors too.

No groups of young adults. No dogs to be left unattended. "Robins Nest" is located in the quiet village of Merrymeet, close to the market town of Liskeard. We're a dog friendly household (should you wish to bring one); we have black 2 labradors called Opie & Oscar. A self-contained, lockable, ground floor apartment within our barn conversion; it is in an excellent location for exploration of the countryside There is good access to all amenities for people with disability and/or impairment.
One of the photos gives apartment dimensions... We provide use of the following facilities: On site parking; garden (by prior arrangement); utility room for laundry (by prior arrangement); lockable storage for bikes, boards, wet suits etc. There is a lockable door between the main house and the apartment for your privacy. The apartment is spacious and will accommodate 4 people (The 3 seater sofa in the living space converts into a reasonable sized double bed). 4 adults could be too 'close for comfort'. 2 adults & 2 younger children is really what we think works best. The kitchen has all that you would need to: prepare; cook; eat; store; chill and freeze food. The dining are has a table and 4 chairs. Simple condiments (Salt & Pepper) are provided. Access to the secure family garden is through a gate adjacent to the apartment entrance. (the garden is available by prior arrangement) We will provide 1 x large & 1 x hand towel per guest and relevant bedding (Please bring your own beach towels though). We will also provide you with toilet rolls and "arrival day" fresh milk, teabags, coffee and cereal. Top ups and other everyday shopping items can be obtained from the local supermarkets (Aldi, Morrisons & Coop) all of which are within 2 miles.
Merrymeet is a sleepy village of 60 houses. One church, no shop, no pub, no restaurant..... That said; within 2 miles you have the picturesque market town of Liskeard and a variety of pubs, shops & restaurants in the outlying areas. We can recommend nice places.
  • Lovely stay at Jason's place. Spotlessly clean and very spacious, even for the 4 of us, as we had our daughters with us. Had everything we needed and perfect location for the local. Only shame was that we couldn't stay longer. Hope to return for a longer stay soon.

    Sam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A really cosy and warm space. Nice to have milk and cereal provided too when you are travelling with children. Jason was friendly and would definitely stay again.

    Andrew2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely clean ,comfortable and self contained accommodation. Very Dog friendly.

    Sarah2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place so peacful and quiet being disabled was so accessible,

    Kenneth2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived quite late in the evening and unsure we’d actually made it to the right place when Jason suddenly appeared. He’d been looking out for us which was handy as there isn’t street lighting in Merrymeet. The accommodation is a ground floor annex which is tastefully decorated and has a comfortable double bed and a sofa bed. Everything was clean and tidy plus there was fresh milk in the fridge in the little kitchen area. It was our first time staying away with our rescue dog who settled in fine and ignored the two resident Labradors so if you’re looking for dog friendly accommodation then this little hidden gem is just the place!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Katherine’s place. She was very welcoming and sociable. We felt very relaxed, and Katherine was helpful with local attractions and information. The accommodation was of a high quality in a nice quiet suburb. We highly recommend Katherine’s place if you are in the area.

  • We stayed with Katherine for two nights with our 5 week old baby. The room was perfect for what we needed and Katherine was very welcoming and accommodating, she made sure we had everything we needed and went out of her way to make sure we had bedding replaced when our baby was sick. Would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Two handcrafted shepherd huts in a very private, tranquil location on Bodmin Moor. The huts are off grid and have a low environmental impact. We're 3.5 miles away from the picturesque village of St Neot and 8 miles away from the historic market town of Liskeard. The North and South coasts are easily accessible offering some of the best surfing, swimming and cliff walks. The huts are cosy and homely with logburner and comfortable bed! The spring fed hot/cold shower is next to a compost loo
Our place feels 'away from it all', offering total peace and tranquility. The Dark Sky status (awarded last year) means brilliant stargazing with or without your telescope! Lie in the double hammock and observe! Diddylake is the old farmhouse (the ruin) and was last lived in in the 1950. There's lots of wildlife to observe. Birds include buzzards, duck, swallows. skylarks and cuckoos just to mention a few. Listen carefully and you could hear a red kite. Deer and fox are frequent visitors and keep an eye open for butterflies, dragonflies, newts and frogs. Keep your camera to hand!
There are lots of places to relax in or explore on the nearby moor and coast. Carnglaze Caverns, Golitha Falls, Siblyback Lake, the Minions and Heritage Mining Trail are just a few amongst many.
  • this place is a beautiful get away from 'it all' - such a gorgeous setting, the huts are done out in a really lovely way. the wood burner a little gem in the storms and wild wet weather.. and the shower unexpectedly superb. what a delight to stay there, i didn't want to leave 💚

    Fiona2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is hands down, one of the most incredible places I’ve stayed. The location is wonderful and completely off grid. That just makes it a bigger adventure! We stayed during storm Dennis and the wood burner and candles kept us cosy. Everything has been thought out and having the separate hut was great. It has so many little touches and encourages you to relax and slow down. Reading, sleeping, a good bottle of wine. The perfect break and we can’t wait to come back again.

    Lauren2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Diddy Lake is a perfect get away for people looking for a quiet and relaxing escape! Surrounded by greenery and animals (if you’re lucky some puppies 😭😂) it is great for just spending time together. We don’t drive so had to make sure we had all of our food etc when we turned up as it’s a trek to the nearest shops. Thank you Jackson for being so helpful with everything, truly what we needed to bring in the new year 🌠

    Ella2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and spend time off the grid. Jackson is a good host. Would definitely visit again.

    Venkata S V2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • A peaceful stay in the wilderness of Bodmin moor. We stayed nice and cosy and warm from the storm outside, the hut was super comfortable and had everything we needed. Jackson was a great host, very friendly. We had a really good stay.

    Polly2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Diddylake is such a lovely and peaceful trip away! We had some terrible weather for the first night and day, but we felt super cosy in the shepherd huts - especially when the fire was lit! The amenities provided are all you need for a comfortable but rustic trip away - it was refreshing not to having electric or phone signal! Jackson was quick to respond and was accommodating from the get go! We shall definitely be back next year! Thanks for having us, Jackson!

    Stephanie2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect stay and a great host. The huts are fantastic as are the outside shower and composting toilet, super eco friendly and such a great way to spend any amount of time.

    Jamie2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible and the energy fantastic.. communication with Jackson was brilliant and all clear and easy. The huts are spotlessly clean and all the little things carefully thought through. The outside facilities were accessible, clean and again really well thought through, loved having a hot shower whilst looking out to the moors. The weather was proper Cornish so it made it even more atmospheric and rustic really can’t wait to return next time and try out the outdoor fire pit and hammock.... AND the best bit.....it’s so quiet!

Set on the edge of Bodmin Moor just outside the village of Minions, our recently renovated, self-contained, 1-bedroom, 1st floor annexe offers breathtaking moorland scenery and tranquility ideal for walking, mountain biking, climbing or simply enjoying a cream tea on your own quiet decking. The village of Minions lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is part of a World Heritage Site due to its mining history; the mine buildings are only a short walk and ideal for photographers!
The property is ideally situated for both outdoor enthusiasts and those wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Sat only a short walk from the village of Minions which contains a village shop and Post Office, highly regarded pub (serving lunches and dinners) and two tea rooms, the location is perfect for exploring Daphne du Maurier country (Jamaica Inn is just 13 miles away) and searching for the legendary Beast of Bodmin! Historians will delight in the mining heritage that surrounds the area, with the Heritage Centre a short walk away and one of Cornwall’s last built mines visible from the kitchen window. For those a little more active, the walking offers breath-taking views and an opportunity to explore the Neolithic enclosure of Stowe’s Pound and the geographical feature of the Cheesewring, along with the stone circles known as the Hurlers, with the quarries of Goldiggings and Cheesewring found along an easily-navigated track. The mountain biking from the doorstep offers some very pleasant riding, with those looking for a challenge able to find some single-track rides at Cardinham Wood a 30-minute drive away. Set in the middle of Cornwall, both the north and south coasts are easily-accessed for finding the best surfing conditions or exploring a quiet cove.
Set on the local road between Minions and Upton Cross, the property is one of a row of eight cottages on the outskirts of the village.

The apartment was so clean (with thoughtful little touches), the bed was really comfy and the recommendation for dinner was perfect. We felt so at home at Abby and Dave’s apartment and were lovely and cozy away from Storm Dennis. Thanks again Abby, we will be back. :)

  • After spending the week in Corbets Tey we didn’t want to come home! A beautiful cosy cottage which was spotlessly clean with everything you could possibly need and some thoughtful extras on arrival. Beautiful natural surroundings but not far from anywhere in Cornwall with great local amenities also. Leah was a very welcoming and informative host and we were left alone to relax as we wished knowing that she was on hand should we need anything. Would love to visit again, a perfect base to explore beautiful Cornwall.

  • We had a great time staying in Merrymeet! The hosts made us feel very welcome and were very flexible for checking in. We were given great suggestions for local places to visit which were specific to our dog friendly needs. This is a really great family run accommodation which is clean and perfect for families and travellers with Dogs! There is a large enclosed field in the grounds which is ideal for doggy poops and a leg stretch before bed. We will certainly be back with our dog Milo!

  • A very spacious room in a magnificent Victorian house. The house has stained glass windows, a 100-year-old wooden carved staircase and a beautiful 1800s library. The house is full of historical character and I had access to sitting rooms and the library, which was greatly appreciated. Ian was very helpful and went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed. Highly recommended!

  • As per all of Paul’s previous reviews. It is a fabulous place to stay . Everything was perfect. Slight problem with phone reception but not a big issue. Paul as a host is first class. We will definitely recommend this place to friends and family and we are looking forward to returning soon.

A charming old barn, converted to a high standard in 2015. The main room is very spacious with a super king bed, and a door opening on to a very private garden. There's a second room for guest to use as a dinning room and a large shower room with underfloor heating. We attract a lot of wedding guests for Travenna and The Green. We have an excellent local taxi service in the village, they must be pre booked however! Breakfast is a continental hamper delivered to the barn the evening before
located in the middle of the farm it is very peaceful and private. The barn itself is done to a very high standard with a mixture of antiques and modern furniture. The bed is a super king bed and can be split into twin beds if required
The farm house and barn sit in the middle of its own land in a very private yet convenient location. Its very peaceful and relaxing yet only 3 miles from town
  • Apologies for all the 5* ratings, which might make it look as though we're a plant, but I really couldn't fault Matt's place for a single thing. There is no kitchen (that's made clear in the listing) but you get a very good breakfast hamper, and there are pubs nearby for meals. If you like classy decor, you'll love the touches here.

  • Matt’s place was absolutely lovely and the bed and bed linen was to die for! So comfortable. Would highly recommend. We had a very lovely stay.

  • Great accommodation and lovely host! Matt was so helpful answering our questions and giving really clear directions. The property is the perfect romantic escape with a beautiful garden and attention to detail throughout! We loved our stay and would highly recommend visiting!

  • This stay was truly heaven. The Old Stables is beautifully furnished, absolutely spotless and the sunny garden was a real wonder. Matt was so welcoming and helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations to where to park for different places. Breakfast delivered each day was delicious and our bed was enormous and so comfortable! Every little touch - from the inbuilt Netflix on TV, a visit to the horses and umbrellas for us to borrow (not that we needed them!) - had been thought of and we couldn’t recommend it more - we will absolutely be back. Thank you Matt!

  • Excellent accommodation and host. Everything was to an exceptional standard with impressive attention to detail. Matt is a brilliant host and we would highly recommend staying here. We used it to explore many of Cornwall’s sights and the central location allowed access to both coasts.

  • Matt’s place was absolutely stunning, and the barn was stylish and clean. He was very friendly and completely willing to give us local recommendations. We will definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area.

  • We had a beautiful stay. The place is extremely clean and has excellent amenities, such as: granola, breads and jam, croissants, juice, etc. The outdoor patio is a lovely spot for morning coffee and the surrounding land is perfect for a picturesque walk. I highly recommend staying here. I only wish we could have stayed longer.
