In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". • We spent 10 days in Churchill. The accommodation was perfect on every level. It was such a pleasure to be there... spacious, well equipped, beautifully furnished and decorated, beautiful location. It could not have been better and we were sorry to leave.

    Tina2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • All your home comforts, set in a very chic barn conversion, makes for a delightful countryside getaway. Tom (the owner who lives in the main house across the way) was very welcoming, and very knowledgable about the local area. The downstairs is a particularly lovely space, with a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a very comfortable living room with doors that open onto a great outdoor patio and garden. If we had had a little more sun across the weekend we definitely would have given the BBQ a go! The large bedrooms are complimented by en suite bathrooms, both of which have been done to a very high standard. We will definitely be back!

  • My wife, our 8 month old and I really enjoyed our few days at this cottage nestled in the cotswold countryside. The value for money is exceptional! The kitchen and bathroom have underfloor heating which is so nice when making the first cup of tea of the day; and the log burner in the lounge really adds to the cosy atmosphere. Yes, the beams are low and the stairs are steep, but this just adds to the quirkiness of the cottage - plus I’m 6’ 3” and didn’t have much trouble. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.

Bring flip flops/sliders for getting to and from the hot tub and toilet. Plough across the road do great food too. Thanks again!

    Ben2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one night stay here and the hot tub was great, the cooking facilities were perfect and the fairy lights were a great touch! Great communication, would defiantly recommend.

    Bethanie2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I would 100% recommend this place, and even come back again! Myself and 3 friends came to the Rectory Retreat as a get away for my birthday and as a general get away from the city. It was far beyond what we expected and loved every minute. From the moment we got there, Lisa had everything ready for us. She gave us a tour and explained how everything worked. They’re avid recyclers too!! Which was a plus. The hot tub is with an extra cost but split between myself and friends it was virtually nothing. Can’t thank Lisa and Jeremy enough for an amazing place to stay.

    Rachel2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a brilliant stay! The cabin exceeded our expectations, the hot tub was gorgeous and we were well looked after. Lisa offered to get the hot tub going for us with wood fire as it takes a couple of hours to get going - perfect for the return from our long walk! It was very comfortable, romantic and cosy. Also, the Plough Inn was great for food and Blenheim Taxis were brilliant if you need a ride!

Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films. Food & Drink As one of the main market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton has a wide variety of places to eat and drink, catering for most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample, to give a flavour for the various options available: Wild Thyme Restaurant (www.wildthymerestaurant.co.uk): Offering exciting modern British food and relaxed friendly service, complemented by three stylish rooms, this is a special place to enjoy great food and wine with family and friends. The Chequers (www.chequers-pub.com): The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s as a pub, when it was identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere. There is also a separate restaurant area. Whistlers Café Bar & Restaurant (www.whistlersrestaurant.co.uk): The owners of Whistlers are passionate about food and passionate about entertaining. Open during the day as well as for evening meals, Whistlers has a range of breakfasts, through to lighter snacks and lunchtime treats, as well as a great range of hot drinks and cakes to help you while away the hours. Café Le Raj (www.cafeleraj.net): A contemporary Indian restaurant, where top quality ingredients and fragrant herbs and spices are used to create sumptuous dishes. Chipping Norton also has many food shops, ranging from small, family run places, to a Co-op and a Sainsbury's.

Voted "England's Favourite Village" in 2004 by Country Life magazine, Kingham is a beautiful, unspoilt Cotswold village, with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages, mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley, a short drive from the well known Cotswold market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. There has been a church on the site of St. Andrew's Church for at least 900 years, although the present building is a mixture of ages. The font is 13th century, the Perpendicular Gothic tower 15th century, the nave roof is dated 1774 and the rest of the church was remodelled in 1851-3. The church also has a fine old rectory, built in the 17th century. Kingham has two highly regarded pubs, a village shop and is just a mile away from Daylesford Organic, which is well known for its organic food, cookery school and spa. Kingham is also the only village in the Cotswolds that is served by a main line railway station, which provides regular services to London Paddington station. Food & Drink Kingham is fortunate to be blessed with two of the best village pubs in the whole of the Cotswolds, as well as a welcoming hotel, and is just a mile away from the well known Daylesford Organic Farm: The Wild Rabbit (www.thewildrabbit.co.uk): Owned by Lord and Lady Bamford, and described as "the poshest pub in Britain", the Wild Rabbit has been totally refurbished and boasts a total of three real fires in its dining room and separate bar. The menu reflects the seasons and celebrates everything that is great about local produce. All ingredients are carefully selected for their quality and are organic, where possible; The Kingham Plough (www.thekinghamplough.co.uk): The Kingham Plough has established a well deserved reputation as an outstanding dining pub and has deservedly been recognised by numerous awards bestowed by various different bodies. The modern British food is inspirational, not your ordinary Gastro-Pub menu, where everything is prepared from scratch by a team of skilled chefs. Headed by chef-owner Emily Watkins and head chef Ben Dulley, the menu offers an exciting take on English classics. The kitchen is dedicated to making the most of the carefully sourced local ingredients and everything from the charcuterie to the baked beans in the award winning breakfast is proudly made by hand. Kingham also has a village store, selling a wide range of everyday products, including fresh items, beers, wines and spirits, groceries and confectionery. There are regular farmers' markets held in the village, throughout the year.
  • A relaxing setting in a beautful part of the Cotswolds. The living space is comfortable and makes relaxing very easy, the beds are also very comfortable and the propery is very clean. Two pubs within walking distance, we visited both and had great food in both.

  • Very centrally located in Kingham and very charming. The house is small and the ceilings in the bedrooms are quite low, but overall it was everything we needed. Nice heated floors in the bathroom.

  • Really lovely little cottage, ideal for 2 people! the location is amazing being just a stones throw away from some great pubs, and Daylesford Farm. It was really clean with lots of amenities, and very handily for us lots of toys and games for our little one. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be staying again soon!

No 2 Shepherd Hut is a warm and comfortable traditional shepherd's hut which sleeps two in the village of Cumnor, 3.5 miles from Oxford Station. Enjoy the best of both worlds with the peace and quiet of the countryside, and the closeness of Oxford with its ancient buildings and variety of restaurants and pubs. The hut is in a paddock with another shepherd hut, with field views, close to two local pubs and a village shop. Enjoy local walks or a stroll alongside the Thames (guide book supplied).
The space is self-contained with the bed, living space and bathroom all in the Hut - no need to go outside for the loo or a shower! It has wifi. There are a couple of chairs to sit outside, and and also a barbeque for guests' use (please bring your own charcoal, or let us know if you're coming by public transport and wish to use it). As there are two shepherd huts in the paddock, some guests like to visit with friends. Inside there is a small fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery and an electric log-effect heater which warms the hut up in minutes at the flick of a switch. A Continental-style breakfast, towels and shower gel are all included.
Cumnor is a pleasant village with a shop, many thatched cottages, and popular because of its closeness to Oxford.
  • We booked 2 nights in both huts and had a brilliant weekend at Sandra's. The huts are unique and really beautiful. Sandra and her husband built them and the story behind them is really lovely. Each hut was cosy and thoughtfully decorated. They were spotlessly clean wirh so many nice touches. The beds were very comfortable and we had everything we needed and more. The location is brilliant for easy access to Oxford, whilst being able to stay in peaceful quiet Cumnor. Sandra is a brilliant host who made our stay extra special and we will be back again withiut doubt!

  • Sandra was a fantastic host, very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was amazing, really cosy, clean and comfortable in a very peaceful area just outside of Oxford. Super comfy bed. I just loved the whole experience of staying in a Sheppard's hut. I will definitely be back to stay again soon.

    Chloe2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a getaway - the hut is in a beautiful rural area with no light pollution (beautiful starry skies!) and it was totally quiet as well - no road noise or anything. The village is lovely with a great local pub in walking distance, and the hut itself is beautiful - big and comfy bed, good bathroom and even a fireplace/fan heater in the corner. Really cosy (it chucked it down with rain when we stayed) - would definitely recommend.

    Suziey2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sandra was a very attentive and thoughtful host, the space was very relaxing and very easy to reach oxford city centre. A lovely relaxing weekend break. Would recommend.

A modern studio located on the ground floor of our townhouse in East Oxford. Ideal for couples, or single travelers alike. It has great access to the Hospitals, Brookes University, City centre by bus, and the Oxford tube from London. The studio has a double bed, kitchenette, and en-suite bathroom. There are a number of amenities that make the studio great for both short, or longer trips such as, tea/coffee (with fresh milk), free Wi-Fi, large rain shower, full cooker, TV/DVD, and washer/dryer.
We have tried to include everything you would need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and have included a few items that make the room flexible for both work and holiday travel. The kitchenette includes much of the amenities of a full kitchen, so that an extended trip is pleasant, even in a studio format. There are a few items that make a difference when traveling with work such as, a heated bathroom mirror, hair dryer, breakfast bar/work-space, fridge, clothes hanger, iron and ironing board. The space is designed for two people sleeping in a double bed, however there is a Futon that can be used if two guests would like two beds for short trips. Please feel free to get in contact if you have any special requests that you think might make your stay more enjoyable.
The house is a mid terrace townhouse situated off a quiet side road, with trees on the opposite side of the road, so is not overlooked by other houses. The area is very quiet, but is within a 20 minute walk (2 minute bus ride) of the main area of Headington, which has many restaurants and shops should you need them. We also have a couple of corner shops for essential that you can reach within a ten minute walk. If you like a long walk there is a bridal path at the end of the road that leads to a nice trek though the surrounding fields and villages (with a couple of nice pubs).
  • I stayed at Alex's cozy room the whole week and it was perfect. Alex is indeed a super-host and super kind and the place has been well designed as a teeny tiny space with nice touches. Will definitely come back again. Only thing is that the "house noises" (water running in the pipes, flashing water upstairs...) are quite loud because of the size I suppose, so maybe not suitable if you are very sensitive to noises. Other than that- perfect!

    Rosie2020-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely studio apartment, so neat and clean. Will certainly stay again and recommend to friends.

    Amelia2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Brilliant all around! Very clean with great amenities and beautiful decor. Would highly recommend. The flexibility of checking in and out with the key box was so useful as well.

    Talullah2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space to stay, fully fulfilled our expectations and was a great place to get rest after a whole day of attractions. Sparkling clean and very welcoming, definitely recommended for anyone who wishes to visit Oxford!

    Kamil2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a gem for me. It had great reviews but the reality was even better. Lovely space, loved the independence with key in a box and own entrance. Host super responsive to my emails. It was beautifully clean, very comfortable and I loved the kitchenette and milk in the fridge! Location great if you realise that not central oxford but super quiet and on the right side for me for Oxford Brookes and v easy to get into the centre. Huge thanks!

  • Great little space, would definitely recommend.

In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • Quaint, quiet and comfortable, just what I was looking for!

  • A beautiful cottage in a very quiet village. Beautifully decorated with super comfy beds. Although there are no amenities directly in the village there are plenty of lovely walks (which can be found in the books in the lounge) nearby. The welcome goodies mean you don’t have to rush to the shop and can build a trip into your day, as anything is a short drive or walk away. We really enjoyed our stay here, such a perfect break away from the hustle and bustle! Would definitely book again.

  • Character Cottage is a quiet and peaceful place in Sutton, not far from Stratford's small town near Shakespeare's home. Self-driving is recommended, parking is possible. As it is winter, there are few tourists. The rest was good, the cottage kitchen was well-equipped, and the host warmly prepared eggs, milk, bread and butter for us. The bedroom is on the second floor. Although small, it is very welcoming. The bathrooms are great, with romantic bathtubs and comfortable shower rooms.

  • Honeysuckle cottage is an amazing stay! It is cute and cozy. We got everything we needed to stay comfortably. Everything was very clean and they provided us with milk, bread, butter and eggs. And special thanks to Chris for helping us out when our car got stuck at the parking spot. He was quick to respond and easy to communicate. We arrived at night (it was very dark) and didn’t realize we accidentally ran over a small rock n got stuck. 😂 Luckily it was okay. Overall, it was a perfect stay!

  • Fantastic property in a stunning location, and it was super easy to find! Really enjoyed the surrounding countryside and had useful tips from the host on the local area. Definitely recommend this Airbnb.

  • Great company. Very responsive, very helpful. Can not fault them and will definitely use them again ❤️

    Joni2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for an idyllic little cottage to get away from it all, this is the place for you. The ling room is perfectly cosy and both bedrooms offer good sized beds which the host asked before arrival if we'd like making up as twin or double rooms. The bath is great for relaxing in after a long walk and the kitchen is sufficient enough to fully self cater. The cottage is managed by a larger company and, as I found out subsequently, it's cheaper to book direct than via this website. Also, they charge £20 to bring a dog (hidden away in the Ts & Cs on this site) but I can't see what that extra charge provided. The nearest pub (The George) is 1.6 miles away and serves some excellent food and drink in a classic, dog friendly, pub environment. All in all, a great little find and we'd definitely return.

The place is spotless and decorated and dressed to a very high standard. There is everything one would require, tea, coffee, everything smelt clean and fresh and nice touch with fresh flowers. The towels are super soft and fluffy. The bed was soo comfortable, we had the best sleep for a while. If you are thinking about visiting Oxford, Bicester and surrounding areas this is a fab Air BnB for location, comfort and style. We will definitely be returning !

  • Absolutely 100% 5 star accommodation. Nothing at all could be improved upon. This beautiful stylish conversion is an absolute delight … I wouldn't stay anywhere else when in the area. I would challenge anyone who considered it less than exemplary.

  • A beautiful accommodation….oozing taste and comfort. It was such a pleasure staying here and am re-booking whenever I am in this area .

    Sharon2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • The Byre was simply great! On arrival, it was easy to find and clear where to park. The key safe was an effective way of quickly and easily checking-in. Once we were inside, we were delighted at how lovely it really was. The whole place smelt fresh and clean and felt so inviting! There was plenty of storage in the bedroom to unpack properly and everything we were looking for in the kitchen we were able to find. There was a big pack of leaflets for things to do in the roundabout area as well as a welcome pack with a few tips/instructions about our stay at the Byre. We had no problems during our stay!

    Emily2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have just stayed here for a two night break and had a lovely time, I think it’s got to be up there with the best airbnb we have stayed in yet, I would say a favourite! We walked in and every room smelt amazing and was literally sparkling, it was like being at a very smart hotel. We really did not want to leave. Only 5 mins drive to Bicester Village and under 30 mins to Oxford. We would 100% recommend and if ever in the area would be back for sure!!!

    Rosie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay.... we booked a spontaneous few nights to "escape" the every-day and we couldn't of been more delighted with Sean's place! Fresh roses, beautiful decor, extremely clean and amazing finishing touches. All amenities provided for a perfect stay (kitchen utensils, shower gels and necessities). It was like a home from home, absolutely loved it. Really close to Bicester village and Oxford too if you want to get about! Couldn't recommend enough.... will definitely come again!

  • We booked a wonderful 3 night stay and was not disappointed. Claire out host communicated excellently. Beautiful location and stylish and spacious accommodation. The beds were so comfortable that we all slept so well. After long country walks it was fabulous to be able relax in the lounge with a roaring fire. The board games were a wonderful bonus and a fair few hours were spent around the kitchen table in competitive mode. Highly recommend Dunford Barn and will definitely be returning.

  • We all thoroughly enjoyed our short stay (family reunion) at Dunford Barn. It was the perfect ‘home from home’ having been beautifully & tastefully renovated only last year. We found it extremely comfortable, cosy & well-equipped. Claire is a fantastic host & so responsive to any query, no matter how small. • The house was large, well decorated and spotlessly clean! There was more than enough space for a group of 10 adults, and the kitchen was well equipped. Met in person at the house and I felt that we could easily contact Claire if we needed to (although the instructions were very clear so it wasn't needed!) Thanks!

  • Traceys place was everything we wanted and more. Was perfect for a romantic weekend away. Although the weather wasn’t the best we still enjoyed the hot tub and the local area. Bicester village was lovely for a afternoon out. We also went for dinner at the nut tree inn which Tracey recommended and it was lovely! Would absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants a little break away with a partner and will definitely be coming back myself. Tracey also went out of her way to help with extra touches which were greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Norman Chapel, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Norman Chapel is a beautiful Grade II* listed cottage, which dates all the way back to the 12th century, when it was a village church. This detached property sits in the heart of the peaceful hamlet of Aston Magna, close to the village of Blockley and the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh, which contain a wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the many beautiful villages of the North Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford upon Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford and Blenheim Palace. The rural location of Aston Magna also makes it an ideal base for enjoying some of the fabulous walks that the Cotswolds has to offer. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Norman Chapel is a large detached property, located on a quiet road. The front door is approached via the front garden and opens into the dining room, although guests will typically enter the cottage via the boot room. The well laid out ground floor area includes the following rooms: Living room: The spacious living room has exposed oak beams and a lovely stone fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a three seater sofa, plus two arm chairs and a chaise longue, as well as a Freeview TV with a DVD player, a stereo system and wireless speakers; Dining room: This characterful room also has exposed oak beams and a large inglenook fireplace, with a wood burning stove. There is a large wooden dining table and seating for six, with an additional dining chair also available; Study: Located off the living room, the study contains a desk and chair, plus a selection of books, DVDs and games; Kitchen: Steps lead down from the dining room to the kitchen, which overlooks the back garden. The well-equipped kitchen has a double electric cooker, a four ring ceramic hob, fridge with a small freezer, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and smoothie maker; Utility room: Next to the kitchen, this room contains a microwave and a washing machine; Shower room: Accessed via the kitchen and utility room, the shower room has a double walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin; Boot room: Adjoining the kitchen, the boot room is the primary entrance to the cottage, providing access to the back garden and the parking area. Stairs lead up from the dining room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms, all in the eaves of the cottage: Bedroom 1: A beautiful room, with exposed oak beams and an ornate king size bed. A foldaway bed (measuring 66cm x 180cm) can be set up in the room, upon request, to increase the occupancy to 6 1; Bedroom 2: Another lovely room, with exposed oak beams, this room contains a double bed; Bedroom 3: Overlooking the back garden, this room contains two single beds; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with a handheld shower attachment, toilet and wash basin. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful gardens, with mature fruit trees and a lovely view of a neighbouring former church. A patio area in the back garden contains a large table with seating for eight, and there is a further bistro table and chairs, plus four deckchairs and a charcoal barbecue. Parking is available on the quiet road outside the cottage.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone).

  • Tamsin is a great host, going the extra mile. The location and room is fantastic and having a hot tub is a real bonus. Highly recommended.

  • Tasmin’s place was perfect for a super relaxing week away. Her cabin is about a 30 minute walk from the station, (and a short cab ride) - Oxford is just a 20 minute train journey away if you fancy exploring. The thoughtful touches of robes and a ready and waiting hot tub were wonderful. The cabin was warm, comfortable and perfect for the trip. Communication was prompt and super helpful!

  • Fantastic log cabin with hot tub, a lot bigger than I expected. Fitted myself and 2 friends easily for a girls night away to celebrate a 30th birthday. Tamsin was quick to respond and provided lots of information before we arrived. Great place to go with the girls or with your partner. I would recommend to friends and family, and hope to return some time in the future.

  • Had a lovely weekend with my partner at the cabin retreat. Although it was in a residential location, you would never have known when in the cabin! The treatment we had was amazing and very relaxing. Cabin full of amenities to be able to cook. Tamsin gave lots of suggestions of food and places to visit close by. Excellent distance from Bicester village. However, did have one issue with the shower, it kept say LP and turning off. Other than this no complaints. Thank you, throughly enjoyed!!

Welcome to Chippy Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. With its origins dating back to the early 17th century, Chippy Cottage is one of a row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages, located on a quiet road in the heart of Chipping Norton, one of the famous market towns of the North Cotswolds. As well as having a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, Chipping Norton is ideally placed for exploring the Cotswolds region, whether walking, cycling or riding through the beautiful countryside, or exploring the many other lovely towns and villages just a short drive away. Chipping Norton is also well placed for visiting other world famous attractions, such as Blenheim Palace, the dreaming spires of Oxford, or Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Chippy Cottage has the option of being rented in conjunction with neighbouring Garden Cottage for larger groups of up to ten guests. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
The front door of Chippy Cottage is accessed from a raised footpath in front of the cottage and opens into a small hallway. A second doorway then leads into the main ground floor space, which contains the following rooms: Living room: a lovely, cosy cottage living room, with exposed Cotswold stone walls, oak beams and an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove and traditional bread oven. There is comfy seating for six on two sofas and a window seat, and there is an Apple TV, with Freesat and a DVD player; Kitchen/dining room: The beautiful dining room contains an ornamental fireplace and a lovely window seat. There is a wooden dining table, which comfortably seats six. The new kitchen area is small, but has been very well designed to maximise the available space, and it contains an electric oven and grill, a four ring induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine; Utility room: Contains a dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. Wooden stairs lead up from the living room to the first floor landing space, which contains a lovely, quiet reading area. The following rooms are on the first floor: Bedroom 1: Contains a lovely window seat, SMART TV and a king size bed; Bedroom 2: Contains a beautiful oak timbered wall, window seat and two single beds; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. A wooden door on the first floor landing opens to reveal a staircase up to the second floor, which contains the third bedroom: Bedroom 3: In the eaves of the cottage, with lovely oak beams, a wooden floor, SMART TV and a king size bed. Returning downstairs, a door leads out from the utility room to a small courtyard garden, with a table and four chairs. Although small, the garden can be a lovely suntrap, particularly in the summer.
  • Small cottage in a quiet location, the cottage was precisely as described. We knew to expect only one bathroom. A short walk to central Chipping Norton communication was great.

    Ashkhan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage in a perfect location near the centre of Chipping Norton. The cottage has been renovated to a high spec, with really good facilities, great little kitchen, good bathroom and even a useful utility room. The rooms are all a good size, and the beds comfy! If over 6 foot, You will need to watch your head when going into the bathroom and bedrooms, and the stairs are a little awkward to come down as the beams are quite low at the bottom. There are great finishing touches throughout which are really lovely to see and made our stay really enjoyable. It's just a short walk to the Theatre and lots of pubs/restaurants and take-aways. We had no trouble parking outside each night, but you do get a permit to park in the premier inn car park which we didn't ever need to use.

  • Michael’s place is super clean and has everything one needs for a short stay in Oxford. It’s close to a park and with short walking distances to the main spots of Oxford. I super recommend!!

  • Very convenient location. The facilities and facilities of the cottage are very good. My family and I can buy food in the supermarket and go back to cook. Although the house is right next to the road, it can sleep well without being noisy in the hut.

The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: The stylish living room contains an exposed Cotswold stone wall, wooden floor and a cosy wood burning stove, There is a large sofa, a snuggle chair and an armchair, as well as a flat screen SMART TV. The dining area contains a large wooden dining table, with seating for six; Kitchen: The contemporary kitchen is well laid out, and contains an electric oven, four ring gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, combined washing machine and tumble dryer, plus a kettle, toaster and a Nespresso coffee machine (without capsules); Cloakroom: Contains a toilet and a wash basin. Stairs lead up from behind the dining area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A bright and airy room, which contains two single beds; Bedroom 2: Another elegant room, which contains a double bed; Bedroom 3: The standard setup of this room is with a single bed, however a further 75cm wide pull-out single bed can also be setup in this room, upon request. At the rear of the cottage is a small, elegant courtyard garden, which contains a bistro table and seating for four.
  • We had an amazing stay at the Smithy! The location was excellent, a stone's throw away from some lovely pubs and a little high street. The house was beautiful and had everything you could think of including some handy bits of food for cooking ! Also we had lots of info provided regarding parking, check in check out etc. So everything was super clear and they replied to any questions really quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone!!

  • My colleagues rated this the best cottage they stayed in over the 4 weeks of working in Oxford. I stayed in one which was beautiful so this place must have been nice to win there approval. I will book again :) Many Thanks Matt

  • Gorgeous cosy cottage, great location

    Caroline2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Smithy was the perfect cottage for us - a lovely, welcoming place to stay, spotless and with everything you needed to hand. It was in a great location for easily walking to the shops and pubs of Chipping Norton, but also well located for beautiful walks into the Cotswolds countryside.

    Nick2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, perfect location. Charming walks from our doorstep. Sweet thoughtful touches like fresh flowers. Couldn't speak higher of it.

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this lovely house in the centre of Chipping Norton. It had great extra touches such as fresh milk being provided for us so we could have a cup of tea on arrival. There was a coffee machine and plenty of tea facilities provided. Local facilities were good with a nice pub just a short walk up the road and there is also a Sainsbury’s within a short walking distance. The house has WiFi available and a smart TV. There was a main bathroom upstairs with a bath and good overhead shower, plus the downstairs toilet. Dependent on arrival times (we arrived on the Friday evening when the locals pubs and restaurants were busy), you may need to drive around for a while looking for a suitable parking spot as there are no dedicated parking options for the house. However if you avoid arriving at peak times there should be plenty of nearby parking available. A great stay in a lovely village and would definitely return!

Come to our spotlessly clean cottage, up a long driveway, totally private and peaceful and relax in peace and total comfort and peace of mind. You will be able to arrive without any checkin, no contact with anyone, and you can relax in the middle of the most beautiful countryside location. In the middle of nowhere!. Discover the local beautiful Cotswold area. On our doorstep is Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh and all the local Cotswold villages
Our Cottage has three double bedrooms and a very large bathroom with shower and bath. There is a large kitchen and large sitting room with television including DVD player. The cottage is immaculately clean, and during these times it is perfect for a home from home experience, deep in the countryside and you will have total privacy. For larger numbers of guests there is a one bedroomed cottage that sleeps 2 people less than 10 paces opposite which is let separately. The Cottage has a garden to enjoy. For weekends I book for 4-6 guests rather than smaller numbers as we sleep 6 but for guests of only 4 - I would require a minimum of 2 night stay over weekend unless prior arrangement with Jo
We live closest to the beautiful Cotswold town of Chipping Campden, with Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold close by too. You should not miss Broadway either! We are also close to Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone).

  • I stayed at Dorota's place on a weekend trip in Oxford, and it was everything I wished for! Everything was clean and tidy, and it was probably the best equipped Airbnb I have been in so far - the kitchen and bathroom were fully stocked, and the bedroom was warm and comfy. Visiting Oxford center takes around 10minutes by bus, and the house is in a really quiet place in the suburbs. I'd definitely stay here again on my next trip!

Introduction Low hedges, acres of flat green fields and an abundance of wildlife – these are the scenes that will greet you as you head towards College Farm Cottage. Situated on the expansive Bradwell Grove Estate, home to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, it’s hard to im-agine that you are only a few miles from Burford and Lechlade. As you make your way along the open fence-less lanes, you will almost feel as though you’re driving through the middle of the fields. Once you have arrived at the end of the farm track, you will find a delightful cottage with plenty of character – if you’re visiting in the summer months, you’ll even get to appreciate College Farm Cottage in all of its beautiful Wiste-ria–covered glory. Although College Farm is no longer a working farm, it is surrounded by mainly arable farmland, all of which is organic. With a strong emphasis on conservation around the estate, there is plenty of wildlife to observe, from ground nesting birds to deer. You only have to step outside of the door at College Farm Cottage and you are right in the heart of unspoilt countryside, with bridle paths and walking routes running alongside the farmyard. Inside, the cottage is a lovely mix of traditional and new. The original flagstone flooring and woodburner add a touch of rustic charm, while there’s a new JVC Smart TV for guest use. Benefitting from the best of both worlds, College Farm Cottage enjoys a secluded location but is also the perfect location for exploring Burford and the wider Cotswolds. Please see the framed OS map in the sitting room where College Farm sits exactly cen-trally. In just a 5-10 minute drive you will find yourself on the High Street of Burford, a stunning medieval market town with plenty to offer. The excellent Co-operative su-permarket on the High Street stocks all immediate shopping requirements and is open 7am – 10pm every day of the week. There is also a Co-operative supermarket in Lech-lade, a 5-10 minute drive in the opposite direction to Burford, open 8am-8pm every day. There are some great cafés in Burford. Head towards the historic church and you will discover the newly built Warwick Hall and café, ideal for a morning coffee and snacks. Another good spot for a reviving cup of coffee or tea is Lynwood & Co on the High Street, where you can also buy delicious local artisan-made Sourdough bread and of course the famous Huffkins tea shop. If you find yourself parking in the main car park for Burford near the church (free parking) you will cross the mill-race connecting to the charming River Windrush that meanders through the Cotswolds, a lovely spot to feed the ducks and swans! Burford used to be a major coaching town between London and the West Country and was home to 35 coaching inns! The town still retains 13 pubs, of which some favour-ites are The Angel, a very good gastropub, The Highway and The Lamb on Sheep Street. There’s also a great variety of specialist shops to explore – including Maggie White and the fascinating Tolsey Museum. Alternatively, The Victoria in Eastleach, a very pretty Cotswold village nearby, is about an hour walk from the cottage and is a wonderful pub with good food, recommended by Emma and William. Also highly recommended - The Five Alls in Filkins and The Bell in Langford, both excellent pubs. All are popular so booking is essential. Around 5 miles south of the cottage, you will find Lechlade-on-Thames, a small historic town on the Thames, from which London could be reached by boat. With plenty of walks, a thriving market square, pubs, cafes and antique shops, Lechlade is slightly off the beaten tourist track compared to Burford and makes for a great day out. Here you will find a fantastic butcher, Cutler & Bayliss, selling high quality meat, cheese, fresh vegetables and bread as well as another Lynwood & Co café. If you fancy exploring a bit further afield, the beautiful ancient Roman market town of Cirencester is about 10 miles south and also there’s Witney which is an easy 11-mile drive east towards Oxford. Like Cirencester it has a great array of high street shops, larger supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, eateries and a modern cinema complex. Also, around 15 miles away is the renowned Daylesford Organic Farm in Kingham, a farm complex that offers a farm shop, restaurant, spa as well as other activities such as farm tours and cooking courses. See the Burford Guidebook for further information.

The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • A lovely place to stay and a great host. Highly recommended!

  • I visited for a couple of days with my family and we had a wonderful stay. The place is as shown in the images - even better when you're in it. The living space is bright, spacious and well furnished - with plenty of books and games to entertain the family. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you'd need to cater for your family. The bedrooms are cosy with storage and the beds are comfortable. Communication with the host was easy and quick. Checking in was easy as per instructions provided. We checked in during daylight and I would recommend you do too as you may miss the property at night. Highly recommended and my family are already talking about another stay here.

  • Such a beautiful house located in the countryside with amazing views. the upside down house is a perfect place to stay and I would definitely return to this beautiful house. Thank you so much for making it a very pleasant stay!

  • 3 friends & I has a lovely long weekend at The Granary. The cottage was very spacious, with very comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, lovely open dining/lounge space & very nice grounds outside. The shower pressure was also amazing. The house is easy to find by following Google maps & is within close driving distance to all the cute Cotswolds towns. Daylesford Farm is a must do if you're a foodie, with great restaurants, jams & preserves & a zero waste shop! Coming to the area in November was a great idea as it's not too cold yet, but the colours of the trees were amazing & the pubs are so cosy. We had a lovely time.

  • Great base to sight see in and around the Cotswolds. Lovely place and photos don’t do it justice.

  • We had a fabulous stay at the Granary! It was comfy and lovely, and had everything we wanted and needed. I would definitely stay again on another trip to the Cotswolds.

Welcome to our bright, airy and modern studio flat, a 10 minute walk to the centre of Oxford. The flat has its own private entrance on street level and the main space is on the first floor. The main room has big windows and is spacious and comfortable. The shower is downstairs from the main studio, the toilet and kitchen are upstairs. Toilet, shower and kitchen are compact spaces. Luxurious Dorma bedding will help ensure a relaxing and soothing sleep.
The studio has a lot of natural light with bright and modern decor. It is situated set back off the Cowley Road, which means it doesn’t get too noisy but the Bohemian street with its cafes, restaurants and music venues is right in the doorstep. It is so close to the city centre - you can either walk or take a bus 2 stops. The kitchen is furnished in a basic way, but we are happy to provide you with any extra utensils you might want or need.
Located just off the Cowley Road, where there’s an active night life with bohemian restaurants and very close to the city centre with museums, stunning architecture and great shopping.
  • Nice place, close to supermarkets, restaurants everywhere, coffee across the street. Everything you need.

    John2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Freidy was very nice and helpful. Her place is completely independent with a private door, shower and bathroom. The room was very spacious and the kitchen was comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay there. It is some 15 minutes walk from the Bodleian Library. I strongly recommend it.

    Shiva2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome location close to restaurants and shops

    Sarah2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • It was well located just outside the centre of oxford and close to where we needed to be. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable and the kitchen seemed to have all the necessary amenities. Noise travelled quite a lot from the apartment below but it wasn’t an issue for us. It was exactly what we needed.

    Eleanor2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great- easily walkable from the city centre, warm and cosy and a lovely comfortable bed. Freidy was excellent in getting back to us immediately with any questions we had. I'd stay here again

    Shan2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Freidy's place. It is very conveniently located on a lively street with lots of dining options. As a result, it was a little loud at times (but nothing compared to where we live in London). The flat itself is very spacious and nicely set up with all the amenities we needed. Freidy was also very communicative and quick to ask us if we needed anything. A perfect base to explore Oxford!

    Courtney2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location and free parking. Within walking distance of everything and so many restaurants you could stay for a month and not eat in the same place twice.

    Evan2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Freidy's place is exactly as described. Everything is within easy walking distance. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants close by and there is a supermarket just down the street. Freidy and her husband were very welcoming hosts.

  • We just stayed for a second time at Judith’s place for ten days and felt very comfortable at her cozy apartment. As I’ve said in my earlier review, location, amenities and bed are great and communication with Judith quick, easy and helpful. Plus she and her family are really lovely. Much hoping to come back again soon!

    Nina2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Judith’s place is just great – perfect location with easy bus access into town, lots of shops around and cozy to hang out, with all amenities that you need (and comfy bed!). Communication was always quick and helpful, Judith and her family are absolutely delightful and very helpful if there is anything one needs. I'm actually due to come back there to stay again very soon and already look forward to my little home in Oxford! Many thanks Judith!

  • This was a lovely little place, nice and cosy and a bit out of the way but not too much. Lots of shops and watery places close, main Oxford town wasn’t far either. There are lots of things to look at nearby, Belemien palace was beautiful, would recommend. Overall lovely place, relaxing and something different.

  • Third time I stayed at Saman's place! Saman is as always an amazing host...caring, full of attentions and it is a pleasure to have a conversation with him. Also, there is a very positive and friendly atmosphere with the rest of the guests of the house. Highly recommended.

  • Saman an his family are great hosts! There is a sense of warmth and friendly atmosphere in the house. Plenty of local tips and pleasant conversation. The meals which are available are a great addition to the stay.

    claudio2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • Superb place to stay ever. Saman’s place is very clean, cozy and warm welcome from Saman’s family. Saman gave the best hospitality. Always gave us a ride. Prepared breakfast and dinner for us at the time we stayed there. His food is the best. Smoothie and egg with bread are so delicious.

    Yok2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The room is spacious and the bed is comfy (aided by the electric blanket!!) the added touches really make a difference. I wanted to empathize the amount of effort the couple put in, Saman left food out for me and turned my heaters on if I was running late! Combined with the smoothies and breakfast makes the space an ideal place to stay. Can't thank them enough for everything :)

    Amna2019-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Saman's AirBnB is the best! I have been staying in the Palace for a few days a week and it's a lovely space. There is a space heater and an electric blanket so it's cosy even in winter. Saman and his family are so welcoming and kind - and Saman is an excellent cook! I can't recommend this place enough. It's fantastic.

  • Stayed here at the end of February, even though the weather wasn’t ideal (there was a storm this weekend!) we still got full use of the hut and hot tub. If you’re thinking of staying here the tub is a no brainer. It’s a wonderful escape from civilisation and we’re so glad we discovered it for our first Airbnb experience! Thank you to Lisa for meeting us and showing us how to find the hut and use the facilities, made us extremely comfortable staying here! Would highly recommend!

I was slightly worried it might be cold but the wood burner kept it extremely toasty and was easy to keep alight! The little touches in the place were so lovely from the fairy lights to the tea lights. Jeremy met us and explained all we needed to know. We paid extra to use the hot tub which was great. Thankfully you can add some cold water as we got in after the pub and it was soooo hot haha! Jeremy recommended The Plough Inn and we are glad we went - the food was amazing and they even catered for me as a vegan. The only thing I’d have changed is I’d have booked to stay longer! Thanks for a fab little spot.

Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now. Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Queens Head Inn (www.donnington-brewery.com/the_queens_head_stow_on_the_wold): The Queens Head is a traditional town pub, owned by the local Donnington brewery. Here locals mix with tourists who are unsurprisingly attracted into this lovely old pub. Good traditional pub food and ale, in a great atmosphere; The Sheep (www.thesheepstow.co.uk): A seasonal menu with pizzas being a major focus. There is a wood-fired oven in the restaurant, where you can watch your freshly made pizza cook; The Talbot: Laid back drinking, eating and coffees in a traditional meeting place for the town slap bang in the Square. Sofas, original paintings, rickety old tables and chairs, with staff who are under the threat of death if they are not friendly! White Hart (www.thewhitehartstow.com): A 'boutique' style Inn, which has recently been beautifully refurbished throughout. The Inn boasts two cosy bars, lots of open fires and an atmospheric dining room. Hearty food is served during the day, with finer dining in the evening. All food is sourced locally and prepared on the premises; The Bell (www.thebellatstow.com): The Bell at Stow is the perfect country pub. Behind the ivy-clad façade lies a charming, stylish interior with the warmest of welcomes. A favourite with the locals, The Bell is open all day every day offering everything from a pint of well-kept cask ale through to a delicious three-course supper. Stow has a Tesco and a Co-op for regular food purchases and, for special treats, there is a traditional butcher's shop and a number of delicatessens specialising in local produce, including: Lambournes Butchers (www.lambournesbutchers.co.uk): A family owned, multi-award winning traditional butchers, renowned for locally-produced meat, poultry and game, sourced from hand-picked suppliers. Referring to the owner, the BBC's Adam Henson has observed that "what Bob doesn't know about sausages isn't worth knowing"; Cotswold Food Store and Café (www.cotswoldfoodstore.co.uk): The Cotswold Food Store and Café offers a huge variety of delicious local foods, ranging from locally sourced vegetables, meat, eggs and bread to charcuterie, hams and pates in its deli counter. The adjoining café offers freshly prepared meals by resident chef Sonya Kidney, along with home-made cakes, biscuits and light bites; Hamptons Fine Foods (www.hamptons-hampers.co.uk): Hamptons offer a wide range of quality foods to discerning customers. The shelves are packed with exclusive and delicious fine foods that one would not normally find in the mass outlets. A veritable Aladdin's cave. Hamptons specialise in gourmet hampers which can be collected from their shop or delivered direct.

Next to a Chinese food take away restaurant which is yummy and worthy. You can get everything you want easily here. Nice bedding, sleep really well.
