The SIPHON offers a special glamping holiday where your carbon footprint will be minimal - we source as much as we can from local suppliers and ask our guests to recycle/compost. The SIPHON is off grid - solar power provides electricity for lighting and charging mobile phones - and there is a 'green' waterless toilet. A really exciting AND DIFFERENT holiday experience with outside space for barbecuing and play. Perfect for FAMILY celebrations, children AND dogs AND close to the EDEN PROJECT
Enjoy the comfort of the wood burning stove, melt marshmallow over the fire pit or cook your meal in the open air! Close to the Eden Project, The Siphon railway carriage offers a totally different holiday experience. Stay in this converted railway carriage with comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, COSY WOOD BURNING STOVE (first night’s fuel FREE thereafter £5 a pack) separate compost toilet and an amazing hot shower, 12 volt electricity for lighting and phone charging and a fire pit. A great off-grid glamping experience. Although listed as sleeping eight people, the Siphon itself sleeps UP TO SIX (bunk beds can only be used by children of six or above) with an additional two people being accommodated in The Toad BRAKE VAN which is close by, at a small additional charge The Siphon RAILWAY CARRIAGE is nearly 60' long, divided into three separate bedrooms, one with a king size double the SECOND with two single beds, plus an additional THIRD bedroom with bunk beds (not suitable for very young children). In addition two adults can be accommodated in The Toad brake van which is just a few yards away, offering the facility for two families or a larger group of friends to stay. There is a sitting/dining area with WOOD BURNING STOVE, fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker plus an outside dining area when the weather is warm. The Siphon can accommodate SIX people in three separate bedrooms(and up to 8 people in total using both carriages). The living space and one of the bedrooms have double doors which lead out onto raised decking - perfect for al fresco dining - and a fully equipped kitchen area with gas cooker, work tops, sink and storage plus an enormous, very efficient cold box on the balcony. We change the ice packs as and when necessary for our guests. The Siphon is 'off-grid' - there is no mains electricity only 12 volt lighting and a charging point for phones. Sorry, no tv or electrical appliances! There is a cold water supply inside the wagon and an amazing outside hot shower and a ‘green ‘ toilet a very few steps away (less than ten feet). Outside and on a lower level to The Siphon is a firepit and seating area (just wooden planks on blocks)! where you can enjoy a drink (or two), watch the stars or listen to the sounds of the country whilst filling the fire - we can sell you bags of logs (£5 bag for kiln dried wood) - sorry but we are unable to provide free fuel for either the Wood burning stove or the firepit. Fuel for the stove MUST be purchased from us at £5 a pack although we supply your first pack free of charge. (Logs, kindling, flamer firefighter and matches). You will share your outside space with the birds and the many wild animals which live around - foxes, badgers, deer, otters, squirrels and many more smaller mammals but the inside of the Siphon is warm and secure. Fall asleep to the sound of the nearby river and wake to the dawn chorus of the birds. The Siphon is not for the frail or timid - the doors are the original heavy wood ones and the catches are also original - marvel at the workmanship which went into the making of this grand old lady and marvel yet more at the way in which she has converted so magnificently into this unusual holiday space. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our guests who come with open minds to enjoy this unusual and definitely unique glamping holiday destination. We hope that everything will be perfect for you and it will certainly be a new and exciting holiday experience for everyone who stays. Our younger guests have delighted in the magic of staying on a 'train' and Train Teddy will be there to greet them. Lots of space for running around, outside games and a range of indoor games for families to enjoy if the weather isnt good. The Siphons - the telegraphic name for these commercial carriages - carried milk in milk churns from the West Country to the cities of the UK. The Siphons were based on the chassis of passenger carriages and often were added to the rear of express passenger trains travelling from the West Country in order to transport milk and other perishables as quickly as possible to London and other centres. There were louvres cut into the wooden sides at two levels to allow for greater ventilation and these we have retained as much as possible in 'our' Siphon. This is truly a piece of railway history, particularly as there are only a handful of Siphons still in existence and many of these are in a very poor state. We describe The Siphon as an unique 'glamping with style' experience - a beautiful and spacious area in a railway carriage - but perhaps you will have other ways of describing her.... Our guests will enjoy the Siphon, the surrounding area and have access onto miles of surrounding trails and the walk or cycle to the Eden Project. The Siphon is positioned on one of the sidings of the Trenance Valley Line - one of the last branch lines built by the Great Western Railway or the GWR - 'God's Wonderful Railway'. This line only carried commercial traffic. It was authorised in 1910, opened in 1920 after the first world war and eventually closed in 1968. A word of warning - the river is close by and is NOT securely fenced so children will need to be supervised but what an experience for everyone who stays here! We also feel that The Siphon experience may not be entirely suitable for very young children - children of three or younger have stayed very successfully and have been enthralled by the experience but, parents, be aware! no washing machine, only an outside shower and no tv! But there are plenty of positive things to offset these. Being close to nature, plenty of 'family' time with no digital distractions, walking, playing outside or playing some of the games which are inside the Siphon, melting marshmallows at the firepit, cooking supper over a wood fire, having evening sing-songs around the fire, partying - your choice - some or all of these! The whole area was an industrial site so be aware that there are drops, uneven surfaces and other hazards - but common sense and care will prevent any accidents. We are happy to suggest places to visit, suggestions on where to eat and walks accessible from The Siphon or slightly further away. The Siphon is in a rural position in a valley setting close to the River Vinnick - we could bore you with more historical detail but you can read all about the area when you are here. Centrally positioned for exploring Cornwall, close to the south Cornish beaches and only a short drive to the surfing beaches of the north coast - just a perfect holiday retreat! There is public transport but limited - do please try to bring a car or rent one when you get here - mainline trains at St. Austell, about 1.5 miles away, a few buses and, of course, taxis. You can also walk directly from The Siphon into St. Austell using the trails which cover miles of the surrounding area, or you can walk to the Eden Project using the trails. The Siphon is not connected to the national grid - electricity is 12 volt supplied via solar energy. Therefore - no tvs, no hairdryers, no washing machines -but plenty of peace, relaxation, bird song, playing games, conversation, good food and wine - the list is endless. There is a cold water supply connected to the sink in the kitchen and there is hot water to the shower and basin outside. We aim to keep our 'carbon footprint' as small as possible and at the same time offer our guests a truly unique holiday experience. We therefore ask all guests to recycle as much of their rubbish as possible (tins/plastic bottles/glass jars and bottles, cardboard and paper are all collected) and to buy local produce whenever possible to reduce 'food miles'. The Siphon has a wood burning stove installed which heats the main living area - an excellent heat source to keep away any chill. Please note that fuel for the stove must be purchased from us and guests are asked not to burn any rubbish in the stove. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING PEAK PERIODS AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS THERE IS A MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD OF THREE DAYS. At all other times the minimum booking period is two days apart from a few weeks in November/December when we are happy to accept ONE DAY BOOKINGS. THE TOAD: We have a second carriage available which sleeps 2 adults - if your party numbers more than 6 please ask about this which is available at an extra but discounted price. The Toad brake van was used on the Great Western Railway at the end of long trains carrying commercial traffic. It has the original sand boxes supplying sand to the braking wheels to help slow down the train and although now converted to holiday accommodation the original features of the wagon are still present. The Toad offers a living space with seating and a double bed plus a kitchen with hob and sink. There is cold water only into the kitchen sink and a further tap outside. Outside is a fire area for outdoor cooking if the weather permits. The Toad is only available for renting in conjunction with The Siphon as it shares the outdoor shower and toilet and for groups of over 6. Very occasionally The Toad can be used as a stand alone unit but only when The Siphon is not being used. Minimum rental periods are then two days out of season and three days in season (July and August, Christmas and New Year and all school holidays). Please ask for more details. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR USING THE TOAD IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SIPHON - PLEASE ASK BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION. The Siphon itself - all 60' of her space - the immediate surrounding area including the firepit for outside fires and barbecue area and access onto miles of surrounding trails - all this is available to our guests. We are here to answer questions, help with suggestions of places to visit, change the icepacks in the giant cold box as and when necessary, provide information for local sightseeing - as little or as much help as you might need. Public transport isn't great - the main line railway station is at St. Austell (about 1.5 miles away), Newquay Airport (about 11 miles away), cross channel ferry at Plymouth for France (about 40 miles away) but local bus services are infrequent and we really do suggest having a car at your disposal, even if you hire one when you get to St. Austell. Guests staying in The Siphon need to be slightly different in their outlook on life - enjoy the outdoors, maybe walking or cycling, surfing or swimming, sailing or kayaking - prepared to spend the evenings playing board games or sitting outside watching the stars - barbecue some freshly caught fish (from one of the nearby harbours) - just a few suggestions........
Very close to the Eden Project and within easy reach of Heligan Gardens and the beaches of the north and south coast.
  • Wonderful stay in a unique place. They had everything we needed, and even added a few lovely extra touches. With the fire going, the place was a lot warmer than expected, and the outside shower was great! If its wet weather - bring wellies!

  • Quirky and lots of fun. Lovely location with everything you need.

  • Such a beautiful train carriage, great location and not in the middle of nowhere as i originally thought. Very easy access into st austell. Fire had been lit for check in, so was lovely and warm throughout with a welcome pressie and some lovely plants. All rooms had extra blankets and a there was even a cute selection of hot water bottles provided to warm the beds due to the time of the year. The train has a lovely raised deck that overlooks a fast flowing river which was an added bonus. A truly different but wonderful stay.

  • We had a really good time staying at The Siphon. It was lovely and cosy with the log burner going on arrival in the evening, which was appreciated on a very wet and windy weekend at the end of October. The rain made it even more of a great adventure for a 9 and 5 year old and something they'll be talking about for months to come. It took them a little while to come to terms with getting their boots and coats on in the night to go to the outside loo, but that will only make it more memorable for them. It was refreshing to be 'off grid' for the long weekend, no electronics and just a good selection of board games and a radio (both provided) which was set to Classic FM for maximum chill in the evenings. Now that we're back home, the children are of course back on their iPad's, but I like to think with a fond memory for the simple life. We'll definitely try to go back in the summer to make the most of the surroundings. As a side note, everything that was provided was of high quality and eco friendly where possible.

  • Chris and Jo have an amazing air bnb and I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a unique glamping experience. All amenities needed were available and although it was cold there were many blankets and thick quilts to keep us warm and cosy. This would be a perfect venue during the warmer periods to go on long walks along the clay trail and enjoy the surrounding area. There was an abundance of information given for things to do, eat, travel information and even places to avoid. Wonderful hosts an a wonderful experience. Already thinking of returning next year.

  • Would 100% recommend Chris and Jo’s place! The scenery is absolutely beautiful, the siphon is so cozy and heart warming and the decor is gorgeous! The 5 of us loved every second and we all hope to return in the future.

  • Family - including a toddler and two dogs! We had an absolutely fantastic time and Chris & Jo have done such a wonderful job restoring the carriage and turning it a lovely hideaway. Everything was so cozy and comfy, and there was everything you needed to make home cooking each day. The setting too is great, as although close to lots of places to explore, there was also a sense of being out in the wild! Thanks in part to an amazing outdoor shower, lots of trees and birds, the sound of the running river, and the fire pit to wile away the evenings

  • An amazingly cosy and unique place to stay. Chris and Jo have thought of everything and the kitchen is very well equipped. The vast selection of board games kept the kids assumed for quite a while. A great base for exploring Cornwall from. We particularly liked Mevagissy and Porthpean beach.

CLOSE TO the EDEN PROJECT The Mill is the ground floor of Bojea Mill. Although the building has four floors in total the ground floor is the only occupied area - the floor above is a party floor which we use for family clebrations when we have no guests staying. Visit at any time of the year and enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer. Perfect for long walks - with or without a dog - wrapping up warm in the winter - superb dining opportunities...
********************************** ********************************** AND stay in The Mill which is the ground floor of Bojea Mill. The building was a corn mill, with a water wheel powered by water from the River Vinnick. However, the wheel is long gone together with most of the mill machinery. We welcome you to our home... TRAVEL TO CORNWALL for the weekend - under 5 hours on the train from Paddington or an easy drive. Relax in the Mill or explore the local area, go swimming on the south coast or surfing on the north coast, walk the coastal footpath, go beachcombing, trek the moors, visit THE EDEN PROJECT or THE LOST GARDENS OF HELIGAN - The choice is yours! Any time is a perfect time to visit - deserted beaches in the spring and autumn - mild weather, wonderful walks along the coastal paths, perhaps the opportunity to sit in the sun on one of the special Cornish beaches, or try your hand at surfing, sailing, kayaking, coasteering, windsurfing - all this plus the haven of The Mill to return to in the evenings. Cook in or eat out - The choice is yours! DOGS ARE WELCOME HERE! Walk straight from the door onto the surrounding trails - or even to Eden - or explore the local beaches - a dog's delight! A small charge of £15 for each animal per stay is made for your pet and please let us know if you are bringing your pet with you BEFORE you book. THE EDEN PROJECT The time to enjoy this world renowned project - spend the day learning about our dependence on plants and marvel at this amazing site - be inspired and learn to connect with others in new ways. THE MILL is a former corn mill which was water driven, but the water course was diverted some time ago. It now offers a spectacular space with stone walls and massive wooden beams supported by cast iron pillars. There are comfortable beds in TWO en suite bedrooms, a sofa which converts to a small double plus a further sofa made for curling up in with a good book, modern kitchen equipment and an enclosed garden. Perfect for one or two couples, friends or a family group of up to 6 (using a convertible sofa in the sitting room and/or a cot in one of the bedrooms). One bedroom has a king size double, the other two twin beds. If you require both rooms made as doubles please let us know at time of booking. The sitting room is large and spacious and offers the space for relaxing, playing games or watching tv or a dvd. Keep in touch using the free wifi (which is generally fairly reliable but we are unable to always guarantee this due to our rural position)! or do some research to make the best possible use of your time here. There is a small enclosed garden area immediately adjacent to the Mill with another 3 acres of grounds to walk through and with direct access onto the miles of nearby trails which are used by walkers, cyclists and horseriders but these trails are unlit and mainly rough surfaced and steep in places. Enjoy a leisurely walk to the Eden Project (4 miles or about an hour or two) or to the South Coast at Pentewan and Mevagissey along the miles of trails which criss cross the surrounding area. We are only too happy to suggest outings for our guests, quiet beaches, good walks, dog friendly areas, places to eat, the nearest shops, cheapest fuel, but the Mill is your home for you to enjoy for the duration of your stay. The Mill is an old building and we have retained the exposed granite walls in places out of respect for the origins of the building - it does NOT have a modern, plastered interior with double glazed, plastic windows but it DOES have enormous character and atmosphere. The beams are immense as they carried the weight of vast quantities of corn and these beams are supported by cast iron pillars which were made locally at Charlestown and there are gigantic pieces of granite in the walls, still showing evidence of oil stains from when the bearings of the cogs and wheels needed frequent greasing. This is not to the detriment of the building - its just a bit of its past history. We have many different species of birds visiting us throughout the year (the dawn chorus is quite loud!) and plenty of wildlife in the vicinity. In the spring you can walk amongst the bluebells, and later in the year enjoy the foxgloves. There is a riverside stroll which leads onto the trails. You may be lucky enough to spot some deer, or maybe a fox or badger and the last few summers an otter was spotted! The main line railway station is at St. Austell, just over a mile away. Local car hire firms will deliver a hire car direct to the station by prior arrangement. The airport at Newquay is within easy reach and it is possible to hire a car from there. Ferries travel from Plymouth (about 40 miles away) to France (Roskoff, Britanny). OUR OTHER PROPERTY - THE SIPHON, is a converted railway carriage sleeping up to six people - this is about 1/4 mile away along the former track of the old railway - and gives the opportunity of accommodating groups of up to 14 people between the two sites. Perfect for two or three families, a wedding group or a group of friends. The Siphon now has a wood burning stove to keep guests warm during the colder months. PLEASE NOTE: DURING PEAK PERIODS AND SCHOOL HOLIDAYS (Easter and July and August and the Christmas period) THERE IS A MINIMUM BOOKING PERIOD OF Three DAYS but at other times the minimum booking period is two days. Our guests will have sole use of the Mill's ground floor - a large area! The small enclosed garden area with parking. Access onto miles of trails (leading to The Eden Project, The Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum and the South coast at Pentewan). As much or as little as our guests desire...we are happy to give advice on places to visit. Just let us know what works best for you! Public transport in Cornwall has its limitations! The main line train service covers the County right down to Penzance with branch lines serving Looe, falmouth, Newquay and St. Ives. However, we would always recommend having a car at your disposal - whether you drive down or travel down by train and then rent a car - this way you will be able to enjoy your visit and see so much more. Please be aware of the dog restrictions on some Cornish beaches - a list is in the Mill. OR perhaps VISIT THE EDEN PROJECT.. What about a special dining experience? Rick Stein (Padstow), Jamie Oliver 15 (Watergate Bay), Nathan Outlaw (Port Isaac) and Paul Ainsworth (Padstow) all have restaurants not too far away plus dozens more to choose from for truly memorable meals. Make your stay a gastronomic one! ****************************** PLAN YOUR VISIT! ******************************* Then why not stay with us - a short drive from the Eden Project or taxi ride or bus ride ( (which takes you into st austell town centre) or even a (longish) Walk. Easy reach of both the south coast and north coast and convenient to superb dining experiences in the County.
Very close to The Eden Project - drive there in a few minutes, walk or cycle along the adjacent trails. Close to beaches and coastal walks
  • Clean comfortable slice of quiet Cornish charm. Perfect place to retreat but not too far from civilization to feel isolated. Amenities are only a short drive away to main town one way and choice of villages the other. Perfect for all reasons

    Nicola2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • The place was amazing! The hostess were great! Chris came up straight away when he heard us coming to welcome us and give us tips for were to dine, have some drinks and enjoy the area! I suggest it 100%! It can't be more traditional than that! An old Mill.. Exactly as it sounds! Majestic!

  • Wonderful spot- everything we hoped for & more. Stylish and beautifully converted apartment in an old mill house in an amospheric part of Cornwall. Brilliant base for exploring. Super friendly hosts who left all kind of thoughtful touches. Wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend.

  • Absolutely wonderful place, very clean, modern feel to a very beautiful old building without losing the historic charm. Beautiful well kept garden area, perfect outdoor area for dogs. The hosts were extremely helpful upon planning our visit and very thoughtful to add touching gifts to our stay which was very much appreciated. The kitchen has lots of equipment to use which is great! Lots of board games and just a very nice place all round !!

  • Such a charming Cornish place to stay with lots of thoughtful touches and amenities that made it a home away from home. Really impressive renovation of the mill. Greatly appreciated the recycling and eco friendly bath and cleaning products as well as the delicious clotted cream fudge and delicious coffee!

  • I booked a last minute weekend at Julie's place after having broken my ankles 3 months ago. Still on a crutch with limited mobility this was a fantastic place for me to come with my little boy and start to safely hobble around in nature. The gardens/farm are stunning and very easy to walk around, there is a magical essence to the whole place that you really have to go there to experience. The chalet was extremely well equipped with cute cottage features, again, for anyone with mobility issues it is all on one level and the bathroom has grab rails by the toilet and in the shower. Everything was lovely and clean and there was a kind touch of tea, coffee, sugar and milk, washing up liquid, salt and pepper etc. The beds were comfortable and the wall heaters in each room worked quickly later in the evening to have the place cosy and warm. Great advantage to have a washing machine and available dryer as if we were staying longer I would use. The shower was great got nice and hot with no temperature changes. Towels and bath mats and bedding were provided and the sofa bed was easy to pull out (unlike some). Plenty of parking space and close to the bnb to nip across to ask Julie if you have any queries. I was especially lucky to have found Julie as our host this weekend as being a mum with mobility problems on my own with an 8 year old son with autism, she was very kind and gave us a lift to the village and up to the church, then also to the Hawkins arms for Sunday dinner. This is a really lovely little place to stay for everyone and if you have younger children like me I'm sure the fairies may even come out to play in the gardens 😉 Already rebooked!

  • We had a great stay. The place is very peaceful, very comfortable, with beautiful surroundings. the place is about 20 minutes by car from Newquay and 40 minutes ish to St Ives. We would definitely stay there again... My son really enjoyed looking at the hens and cats.

  • We had a wonderful stay in this cosy chalet. Everything was as described. The setting is idyllic. We were moving our eldest daughter into her student flat in Penryn, so weren’t able to spend much time there, but it was lovely to return in the evenings. Julie and Tim are very welcoming and we would love to return in the future.

    Julie2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We spent wonderful 6 days in Three Acres Farm in Truro. The cottage is small, but you can find there everything what you need to enjoy your holidays. Julie is a great host, very helpful and kind. It's ca. 20 min. drive to Truro centre, which is really a nice town.

  • 5 stars across the board! This is a great little place, with fun, quirky spaces and lovely touches throughout. Very cosy in the evening, well-equipped and plenty of nice touches in the decor and comfortable beds. The attached gardens look lovely, but we didn't fancy braving the hailstorms to sit in them! Perfect as a base for visiting the Eden Project, and the rest of the local area - also a good local fish & chip shop :-) We'll definitely be looking to return in the summer.

  • Such a wonderful place to stay, I would highly recommend. The cabin was incredibly warm and cosy, perfect hide out from the storms. Everything has been well thought out for all needs and the milk, breakfast cereal and coffee were an added bonus. We enjoyed exploring the wooded area, the children found this very magical and quirky. We did venture out in storms as plenty of wonderful things to do near by. 😊

She met us at check in and gave suggestions of places to visit and nice restaurants. Lovely little village. The three dogs are wonderful, very cuddly pups. We loved staying here.

Saltbox Lodge is a quiet, secluded cabin (previously a woodshed) within our cottage's garden, which is set in the middle of Goss Moor. It's a perfect central spot for exploring both the north and south Cornish coastlines, the nearest beaches sitting about 20 minutes drive away. After being on the beach you can enjoy a soak in the wood fired hot tub or cycle around the Goss Moor trail. We are usually available nextdoor if you need any help choosing where to explore, surf, relax or eat out!
The cabin has a basic, but fully equipped kitchen and outside BBQ if you wish to eat at home. We will provide tea, coffee, milk and oil/salt/pepper. There's a very efficient log burner for cosy evenings and also an electric heater & blankets for the cooler nights. The wood fired hot tub is a great way to relax. There's a cost of £5 per basket for logs or you can buy your own locally if you prefer. There is a king sized bed and small space for clothes etc. If needed, a small double floor mattress can be set up in the communal space. The cabin is all one level, but there are uneven surfaces, gravel and steps to access it. There is a large, private space for parking. The track leading to the property is very potholed, you'll need to drive carefully and slowly.
We are based in Goss Moor, right in the centre of Cornwall, approximately 9 miles from Newquay and 6 miles from St Austell. The immediate area is perfect for an easy cycle or dog walk, and there's an abundance of wildlife. The friendly local cows and Shetland ponies are free ranging, just toot your horn or give a shout to get them to move out the road! There are some basic local amenities, a post office, butchers, Co - op, pubs and a fish and chip shop, all a few minutes drive. I'd probably recommend going further afield to eat out. Nearly all of Cornwall's attractions are accessible from the cabin in under an hour (give or take). We are approximately 20 minutes from both Watergate Bay on the North Coast and Carlyon Bay on the South. The port towns of Padstow & Mevagissey and the famous Eden Project and Heligan Gardens are all under 10 miles away. Beautiful surf spots, excellent restaurants, coastal walks and even some trail mountain bike riding are all easy to access. We love it!
  • Great place, super cosy and private. Hosts are very welcoming and accommodating.

  • Ellie was a truly fantastic host. Saltbox lodge was everything we hoped it would be. Gorgeous space in a tranquil setting. Added bonus of a lovely large wood fired hot tub. Plus Morris the spaniel is absolutely adorable.

  • This lodge is absolutely beautiful, very stylish with some lovely personal touches. The hot tub is so relaxing and warm! Right on the edge of Goss Moor which was a nice circular walk, feels like a world away but is close enough to the main road to be an easy drive. Would highly recommend and would love to stay again

    Charley2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

Nanpean has 2 churches and a small Chinese takeaway. All of these are within a short walking distance from Sticky's Place. Other amenities that can be found locally to Nanpean are a medical centre which controls a cluster of doctors surgeries very close by. A supermarket can be found only a very short 10 minute car journey to the local villages of Roche or St Dennis. A chemist can be found in St Dennis, as well as a Barclays bank. A walkers trail can be found in and around Nanpean which gives you the chance to have a insight in relation to the clay mining industry.

Loved the little touch of the scones left for our arrival (they were delicious, thank you), as well as the fresh milk in the fridge. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • We stayed in the Studio over Valentines weekend and we really loved our stay. The apartment is very clean, spotless in fact, and has everything we could have possibly needed. The weather was awful with storm Dennis so it was great that we had good wifi and tv when we wanted to escape the rain. The TV has Netflix so we could log in to watch what we wanted too. A lovely area of Cornwall to visit. Many places easily accessible. Nice all you can eat Chinese at the end of the road. Carlyon Bay is close and a very lovely place to visit. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here, we will certainly stay again! It was a nice surprise to have a box of chocolates left for us too! Lovely hosts who always get back to us very quick. Perfect hosts! :)

The hot tub was amazing, and the fact Philippa was still up when we arrived late due to traffic and diversions was a great little touch. Will highly recommend to anyone wanting a qui8little getaway.

  • Fantastic cosy place to stay beautifully decorated with Quirky touches - good off grid solutions to everything you need - loved the tin bath with the fairy lights! Well insulated - kept very warm even in the windy cold weather! Take wellies if you go in the winter! Slightly muddy! Remember to scratch the pigs!

    Hammie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute gem of a place! We hibernated for the weekend and came away feeling rested and refreshed. The shack is wonderfully quirky and the facilities are great. We were very comfortable, any questions were answered quickly and we were left to ourselves all weekend. The log burner was fab at heating the whole place, the bath and is a wonderful touch as is the bathroom floor! As hosts Lorraine and Matt were fantastic. An absolute must for a rustic and cosy getaway, highly recommended :)

    Lucy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place!

    Gary2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little shack, tucked away and private in the middle of the Cornish countryside. The place was lovely and warm in the middle of January with the log fire. The pigs loved a stroke, and keep an eye out for birds of prey in the trees surrounding - pretty sure I saw an eagle...

    Simon2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our second stay at the shack - this time over a very stormy Christmas! The shack is always lovely and cosy with the log burner, and plenty of hot water when needed. Enough space and equipment to cook a (modest) Christmas dinner for two. Our dog always enjoys long walks on the beaches, lots within 30 min. A great place we’ll return to time and time again. If visiting in winter don’t forget wellies!

    Harriet2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place in the peaceful countryside. A great getaway, private and romantic. Would highly recommend.

    Joanna2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lorraine and Matt were great hosts & The Shack is a quirky, cosy place to stay, very central to lots of great beaches & the Eden Project. They have fitted it out with lovely touches & the compost toilet is inside the bathroom and does not smell AT ALL!! We were there in winter & the wood stove kept us warm and the insulated shack stayed warm through the night. The mattress was divine, getting in & out of the cosy ‘bed cupboard’ would be hard for anyone with back/hip problems. Take wellies if it’s wet, there is a walk across a field & an old pram to get your stuff to the shack. All in all a great experience of off-grid living.

    Sarah2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Second visit, a lovely little hide away, with just the right amount of cozy space and comforts. 5 stars every time.

Located a few miles from Newquay and close to some wonderful beaches, the closest being Watergate Bay. Our barn is conveniently located for visiting Cornwall's many beauty spots and places of interest such as The Eden Project, Lanhydrock and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

There is no kitchen area however tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the barn. The entrance door is 119cm high so you do have to duck to get in! Once inside standing is not a problem. The barn is situated behind the farmhouse in our gardens. Picnic bench is available for alfresco dining!
We are located on the Goss Moor Trail. On this multi-use trail you can enjoy learning about the rich, natural and industrial heritage of Goss Moor National Nature Reserve. It is a 7 mile circular trail for walkers and cyclists. Screech Owl Sanctuary (Wildlife Park) is a 5 minute walk away.
  • Super space in a beautiful location! Really enjoyed staying in the lovely pig barn, it has been beautifully converted with excellent use of the space. We slept so well, the bed was wonderfully comfortable! It rained the whole weekend but we were perfectly cosy in our little barn. It was immaculately clean and the soft furnishings really made for a lovely effect, the whole site was maintained to such a high standard. Ros was really helpful with local tips for restaurants and things to do, and communication from both Gill and Ros was super fast. Would stay at the pig barn again and highly recommend.

  • Lovely little barn, perfect first nights stay. Despite the rubbish weather the place was lovely and cosy! Very welcoming hosts and lots of info about what to do and where to eat! Perfect!

    Kim2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Speedy response which was helpful, lovely space and very nice touches. Tea and biscuits provided, very clean and quirky. We really enjoyed our stay. It’ll be great when the new toilets and showers are completed as that is perhaps the only thing that lets it down as they are a little dated - they were however very clean! Thanks for a great experience and for being so friendly and welcoming

  • The little pig barn is amazing, I’m 6,2” and fitted comfortably. It is the perfect comfy cozy place to stay that we needed! Great location!

  • The pig barn was fantastic, once you’ve ducked the get through to door you step into a little barn of calm. It has everything you could need and Gill and Dave were excellent offering us local tips and helping us get around. The showers are a short walk but a great facility. The farm is a beautiful location and everything has been thought of. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Gills place is a little haven, the pig barn is so tastefully done with everything you need for your stay The gardens were beautiful, and we had a huge sense of peace there. Gill and her family made us feel very welcome, and had lots of tips on local attractions. We would definitely recommend Gills place to our friends. Many thanks Susan

    Susan2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Gill's lovely converted out building to break up a journey down to Isles of scilly. The location was super as it was just off the main road into Cornwall which made it very easy to find. Gill was very accommodating in staying up for my late check in which was much appreciated. The property has lots of character and Gill has tastefully decorated the space. The facilities were clean and I appreciated the music in the shower block. I left early the next morning which was my loss as the surrounding grounds are beautiful. Thanks again Gill for your hospitality and I hope lots of others get to enjoy this space in the future.

Brecombe Barn is based close to owners property has its own private access, private parking and garden, is not overlooked and has views of surrounding fields.
The barn is a really comfy, quiet retreat and great base to explore beautiful Cornwall. We are located not far from St Austell down a quiet lane with a handful of other small farms, old farm buildings and cottages. We are not a working farm with any farm machinery. Please refer to our advice with directions upon your stay as satnav may send you via an incorrect route for final part of journey. To access property you will follow a farm track for half a mile most of which is tarmac but a small section may be a little bumpy so may be unsuitable for some low chassis vehicles. Dogs are very welcome in downstairs of property only- there is a stair safety gate if required. One dog only and strictly by request as some dates are unavailable to accommodate pets . Fresh linen, towels and toiletries are provided. There is a secure shed to store bikes / surfboards if required.
Rural, quiet and typically a bit wild with lots of wildlife, inc. buzzards, and deer. Horses in surrounding fields. Riding school nearby. Eden trail and Cardinham Woods close by for cycling , running or walking. St Austell market town 2miles distant with all amenities and Truro 15 miles. Vehicle recommended. We are only 10 mins from south coast and around 20 - 30 mins from north coast beaches. St Austell is a great base to explore Cornwall and is also famous for its China Clay industry, brewery and more recently Poldark.
  • We loved everything about our stay at the barn - the hospitality, the eye to detail and most of all the fire. It's a little gem and we'd love to come back.

Penstrassoe 3 Within walking distance to Charlestown and easy access to the Eden Project, Heligan Gardens and many beautiful Cornish beaches, this room will provide you with a comfortable base to explore the wonders of Cornwall.
A double room with TV, Amazon Firestick, tea & coffee making facilities, newly refurbished family bathroom.
Locally there is an excellent provision of food choices within walking distance. We are also perfectly positioned to explore the entire County. Previous guests have visited The Historic Port of Charlestown (Poldark has been filmed here), Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Within an hour you can be walking on Bodmin Moor or swimming in the blue waters of Porth Curnow. Beaches are plentiful! The most local is Carlyon Bay with others such as Porthpean, Pentewan, Caerhays and Polkerris a short drive away. If you fancy exploring more widely head for the Roseland Peninsula and look for Carne, Pendower and Caerhayes. The North Coast is more rugged and a fantastic spot to watch the sun set. Personally I love, Newquay, Crantock, Holywell Bay, Polzeath, Harlin Bay & Perranporth. St Austell town centre is a short stroll left out of the house and up the hill. It has a variety of independent and high street stores and is definitely worth a potter if you have time. Truro is larger and the Cathedral City of Cornwall. There are many shops, restaurants, cafes in the city as well as the Museum for Cornwall and of course the stunning Cathedral! If you like walking I thoroughly recommend ‘IWALK Cornwall’ which is a free app and has loads of fantastic circular walks for every taste, covering the whole of Cornwall. A walk costs £1.99 to download and uses GPS to guide you every step of the way. Eating and Drinking Costa – great for a coffee and snack breakfast – turn right out of the house and cross at the double roundabout. Follow the road towards Mevagissey and you will find Costa in the complex on your right. You can’t miss McDonalds and KFC which are also in that area! Frankie and Bennie’s, Wetherspoons & Prezzo are in the White River Place, turn left out of the house, 2 mins walk up the hill along with a host of independents including Smorgers, Nepalese Gurkha Restaurant, Watermargin Chinese Restaurant, Walkers Fish & Chips If you fancy something different head for Charlestown to eat or drink. There is a plethora of bars, restaurants and coffee shops, some of which are listed below. All have a pleasant atmosphere & serve high quality food but please make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment*: The Longstore* - Charlies Boathouse* - The Pier House Hotel* - Rashleigh Inn * - The Harbourside - Charlies Coffee Shop – Pentewan is 10 min drive and offers, Simply Judes Brasserie and The Kingswood Restaurant can be found 5 minutes away in London Apprentice A more complete guide can be found: https://www.eatoutcornwall.com/restaurants/st-austell/
  • Jer’s place was spotlessly clean and good value for money, he was a very friendly host and asked multiple times if everything was ok and if there was anything else he could do to make my stay better. Would definitely recommend Pentrassoe if you're looking for a cheap and cheerful place close to St Austell town centre.

  • A perfect place for a long weekend exploring Cornwall. There was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and the cream tea was a lovely touch. We would stay again :)

Welcome to the Shabby Shack. The Shabby Shack wasn't always shabby it was once a wagon unloved and lost to the Cornish undergrowth. It hadn't been used for 30 years and was falling to bits, slowly. However, after a year of painting, sawing, polishing and wiring, the wagon has had a new lease of life and has been up-cycled to the Shabbiest Chichiest Shack in Cornwall. Come and enjoy staying in Shabby as much as we loved up-cycling him
The shabby shack is completely off grid all electricity comes from solar panels. There is absolutely no hidden gas bottles powering anything. This mean you have one of the most environmentally friendly holidays in Cornwall. A week here and you ll be Smug in the knowledge that your Carbon foot print was ant sized. If the sun does nt shine a day or so lighting the wood burner provides a source of heat and cooking ; the wood is from the surrounding farmland so you can be snug but also still smug in the knowledge that no fracking or drilling has occurred to heat or feed you. The location is ideal for getting that much craved for peace and tranquility.
The odd bird may peer at you, a butter fly may flutter by. I would watch out for the local Owl who may swoop over you at night and give you a hoot.
  • Great place, beautiful location - helps you get back to basics

    Carrie2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great week at the Shabby Shack and we didn’t want to leave at the end. Nick and his friends at the farm were really helpful and lovely to meet. There were lots of animals too! We saw a horse everyday and when we were having BBQ a dog and a cat came to share with us. Obviously we needed to adjust our daily schedule a bit to save energy, but it added to the experience and didn’t cause any real problems. You can use all amenities in a sunny day. Even in a day when it was cloudy and drizzling all day we still have enough electricity for showers, lights and phone charging. Do use the woodburner and bbq to cook as it gave much more fun than using the microwave. It also had one of the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on, and do try the blackberries you can find nearby if come during Autumn. Thanks Nick for creating such a lovely little place.

    Kainan2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The shack is far from shabby...it has been renovated to a very high standard! The bed is also exceptionally comfortable 💤😁! We had to learn how to control the power, but after some sunshine we could use all the amenities. Great location for Eden and other parts of Cornwall.

    Joanne2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the shabby shack, lovely touches and peaceful location. Stayed with my 5 year old grandson, he loved the adventure, the farm is so interesting and a lovely host family, many thanks to Peter for the tour. Great location for exploring coasts of Cornwall, highly recommended.

    Victoria2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Shabby Shack and despite there being spells of extreme weather we always felt safe, warm and cosy. Nick was a great host and was there to greet us shortly after our arrival and shared with us everything we needed to know including the history and origin of the Shabby Shack. As well as making good recommendations for meals out and day trips, Nick was very quick with his responses to any queries we had. We would highly recommend the Shabby Shack to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of city life with the option of visiting both sides of the beautiful Cornish coast.

    Fran2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little place in a beautiful spot, calm and relaxing. Great base for exploring Cornwall. Within 15-30 minutes you can be at a coastal town. Only drawback I had and it wasn’t anything to do with the place or Nick, was my sat nav wanted to take me up a dead end road to get to the the farm. However my phone sat nav took me straight there. Thanks for a lovely stay.

    Lisa2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Charming place in an idyllic setting right on the edge of the working farm. The shack itself is perfect size for two people and is in a great location to visit north or south Cornwall. Incredibly relaxing stay and would recommend to anyone.

    George2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The shabby shack is lovely place to rest/relax in the heart of Cornwall. We found it easy to commute around Cornwall to the beaches and towns we desired. Lovely touches (from homely cushions to outdoor benches) around the household (train) added to the experience and may the small space feel far larger than first thought. Nic was a very welcoming and approachable host. Had a lovely stay - can highly recommend.

Our annex is small but perfectly formed and offers a little piece of the Cornish countryside to guests looking to explore Cornwall. Ruthvose is centrally located. The annex is away from the main house and accommodates two easily with a double bedroom on the first floor and an open plan kitchen living room on the ground floor. There is a private outdoor space, ample parking and a quiet rural location while being roughly 15 minutes from the north coast towns of Padstow, Newquay and Wadebridge.
The annex is completely self contained and away from the main house. Facing away from our view and the annex patio is completely private.
The neighbourhood is very quiet, a small very quaint Cornish hamlet. We are very centrally located in Cornwall, equal distance to both coasts and north to south Cornwall, making us ideal for exploring Cornwall. We are located just off the A30 for easy access for your stay. Close by is the Eden project, Newquay, Padstow, Truro, Wadebridge, Rock, Polzeath and St Austell.
  • A very nice private self-contained annex with beautiful views.

  • My partner and I stayed at Alli's annex for 5 days - location was very good. Easy access to Newquay and Eden project. Very remote so felt safe and also private. Comfy bed, warm, and the cooking equipment was also really good.

    Suzanne2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was sparkling clean, perfect size for a couple, Alli was really quick at replying and always happy to help, it was a lovely Cornish experience.

  • Just as my last stay was, a wonderful place to escape the pressures of modern day life. Quiet, out of the way, just a perfect place to relax and unwind. If you have to be connected to the world, this probably isn't the place for you. Too bad really, because the location, the hosts, and even their roaming cat would reset you to a better place in your mind.

    Edward2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet place with a charming host. Good value for money.

  • Maria and Clive are outstanding hosts. The are friendly and kind and so hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with them and will most definitely recommend their place to everyone. We felt like part of the family from the first day and loved every minute of staying there. Thank you again Maria and Clive for your kindness, your very useful tips about the area & where to go, for spoiling us and for the most comfortable bed in the world! We look forward to seeing you again and wish you all the very best!!

    Jenna2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Maria’s house is excellent to stay, especially for a family! The couples are so nice and they have a huge and beautiful garden! The life there is so peaceful and 25min driving to beach. We love Maria’s house and definitely will stay there next time. Highly recommend!

    Min2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Mara and Clive's place is very conveniently situated. Communication with Maria to make the arrangements for our stay was excellent. The room was a great, and there was access to the kitchen to make drinks at anytime along with a lovely selection of chocolate bars! There was a separate bathroom for airbnb guests. Maria and Clive also have a lovely garden which we were able to use of we'd wanted. Would definitely return if visiting Cornwall again.

    Janet And Gabriella2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly, nice tips for where we want to go. Can give guide which place is nice, good or bad 🤣

    Mohammad Sofian2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, everything was so clean and both were so friendly. We felt really welcome and like home. I would definitely stay again :) many thanks for everything:)

    Tatjana2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Maria and Clive's home was very nice. We felt more like visiting some friends than in an airbnb. We've got tea and Coffee when we arrived and there were always teacups, tea, cookies etc. for us on the table The house is quite big, we had our own bathroom (just the shower is in an other one) and the room was perfect for two. Also the kitchen had everything we needed. The room is very quiet, because it faces the garden. So you don't hear the street next to the house. From the house you are in 20 min in Newquay and in 15 min in St. Austell (by car, you should have a car when you visit Maria and Clive, otherwise it would be difficult). So its a good place to see Cornwall. Clive and Maria themselves were very nice and gave us tipps for our trips and helped where they could. So I really recommend this place!

  • Annabel's hut is such a wonderful place to stay. It felt bigger than I was expecting and very luxurious! We didn't need the fire because the temperature was quite mild. It was lovely lying in bed, listening to the rain and the under floor heating made the whole place very cosy. Annabel was always very quick to come back to my questions and the whole weekend was just so relaxing. We'll definitely be returning!

    Katie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a little gem! Most cosy, warm and comfortable space for two to stay in peaceful countryside with fab views. Annabel was a wonderful host with great communication and thoughtful touches to ensure a special stay. Lovely bedding and very comfortable bed. We really felt rested and recharged after a couple days staying at The Hut! Can’t wait for a chance to return.

    Deborah2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We booked a last minute stay and what a pleasant one it was! The Hut is the perfect place to escape to, with great facilities in a cosy place, would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys staying in quirky accommodation!

  • A gem of a place to stay. If you are looking to switch off from the world with amazing comfort with all the little extras this is most definitely the place. Everything catered for, chocolates, tea, coffee, dog treats, wood, bathroom products, cooking spices, cleaning products, shower products etc etc.. you could easily just turn up with your change of clothes. An amazing place...... Amazing host.... everything perfect. We did not want to leave.... 💕

  • We had a lovely 3 night stay in the Shepherds Hut in September. Unfortunately it was very windy and rainy during our stay, but the hut remained cosy and warm, and provided us with a lovely place to retreat from the weather. The bed was very comfy, shower hot and Annabel had provided little thoughtful extras to make our stay special. The hut is also great for star gazers as there’s not much light pollution!

Rossland Barn is a detached cosy get-away situated in the heart of Cornwall, mid way between the North and South coasts. Staying here allows easy access to all that Cornwall has to offer. The property provides a Living Room/Kitchen downstairs and a Bedroom and Shower Room upstairs. Everything that is needed for a self catering holiday. It is a rural setting with farms dotted around and horses are often in the field next to the Barn. A great place to relax & unwind any time of year.
It is peaceful and quiet at Rossland well away from the tourist crowds with views out over three moors. Guests are welcome to use the grounds of Rossland. The Barn itself is centrally heated with underfloor heating downstairs and radiators upstairs. There is also a wood burner downstairs that can be used. There is a TV and DVD/Blu Ray player downstairs and one TV in the bedroom. The Kitchen Area is fully equipped with an oven including grill, a microwave and a fridge with a small freezer box. There is a recycling bin and hoover located in the cupboard under the stairs. We generally keep a stock of cleaning materials under the sink. An iron is provided which is also under the kitchen sink, the ironing board is located behind the Bedroom door. There is a hairdryer in the right top cube of the cube stack in the Bedroom. Outside of the Barn to the rear is a fenced off garden with seats. The garden is secure for a dog and is separated from our dogs' space.
The neighbourhood is peaceful and steeped in history, from ancient hill forts to medieval field systems and has the visible impact of the china clay industry on the landscape. We would welcome you to join us on a dog walk for a guided tour of this area of Cornwall. The village of St Dennis has a number of facilities. There is a Spar shop with a Post Office, a pharmacy and two other independent grocery shops. The village also has a fish & chip shop, a pub, an hotel and a working men's club. There are two garages and also an active football club and brass band. The carn that Rossland sits on the side of is topped by St Denys Church. The church occupies what was the site of an Iron Age hill fort and the field systems extending to the North are medieval. There are fantastic views of the sea and sunset from the church grounds.
  • We had a fantastic time staying at Lyn and Jim’s property and with a further property coming soon we will hopefully return. We booked at short notice but the home was beautifully clean and ready for our arrival. Perfect place to stay for trips in Cornwall x

  • Super clean and cosy barn, with everything you need for a fantastic holiday in cornwall. Jim and Lyn were fantastic hosts. Highly reccomended!!

    Scott2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my wife took a few days out for a quick break. We thoroughly enjoyed the views! The barn is very well furnished. We were grateful for the underfloor heating and wood burner when we came indoors from the storms outside! There were some lovely touches made by Jim and Lyn, like the beautiful tulips on the side board, milk in the fridge etc. The bedroom was comfortable and roomy. The bathroom was nice and spacious and sometimes it’s the small things that make the difference, but the towels were really soft! Overall, Rossland Barn is a lovey stay in a great location. Thanks to Jim and Lyn.

Modern house with a lovely garden in a quiet estate. Less than a 5 minute walk to the train/bus station, which has direct links to the Eden Project, London and the North. The town centre is also less than a 5 minute walk away. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, gas hob, kettle, toaster, washing machine, dryer, etc. A bright, spacious lounge opens onto the garden through double doors. The driveway has room for two cars and parking is also available on the road.
The house will have new furniture to what is shown in the photos. Guests are welcome to use the kayaks, fishing rods, bbq, and whatever other fun things you can find in the garage. Please be respectful of neighbours; the estate is primarily occupied by young families who have to wake up early for jobs and school runs.
Most people who come to St Austell come for the things it's close to: beautiful beaches, amazing gardens and of course, the Eden Project. Don't get me wrong, these are all very good reasons to visit! But there are two little gems I'd like to give a mention that are within walking distance of the house. The first is the mining museum of Wheal Martyn. St Austell was a clay mining town after all, and the museum does a fantastic job of taking you through the history of the clay mining industry and how everything worked. With a wealth of indoor displays and a beautiful outside area to explore, there are a number of ways to enjoy your visit there. The second is Menacuddle Well, which is a magical little place that is free to visit. It lies just outside of town, where the St Austell river flows through the valley. It's not a tourist destination, there are no toilets or cafes, just a few very old man-made structures (including a small waterfall) in a woodland clearing that was recently unearthed and is now maintained. Unfortunately it is right next to a busy road, but once you're down at the water's edge you can hardly hear it, and the whole place is very peaceful and calming. I'll be more than happy to provide maps for walking or driving to each of these places, as well as some tips to stay off of the roads as much as possible if walking.

  • Beautiful Flat; clean, tidy, appliances - I like to iron my clothes and previously in another Airbnb there was no iron or ironing board! So that was great for myself. We were travelling this way to visit The Eden Project which was a 20 minute drive from the flat, very easy to get to. The communication between myself and Janice was really easy, quick responses and there were no problems at all. Overall the pictures is what you get and we didn’t expect anything less ☺️

  • What a stunning little place this is! Such a beautiful view across the valley. The perfect place to curl up with a cuppa and a good book taking in the view- especially if there's a good sunset! Everything was thought of by Catherine down to the small details in each room. Everything was made easy and straightforward. A beautiful place to stay which felt quite luxurious yet still private. Less than 6 mins into St Austell and easy driving distances to surrounding beaches, harbours, villages and towns. A great find.

  • Very peaceful location and the view from the apartment was beautiful. Added bonus of the secluded seating area outside. Catherine made sure that we had everything we needed upon arrival. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Penstrassoe 1 Within a walking distance to Charlestown and easy access to the Eden Project, Heligan Gardens and many beautiful Cornish beaches, this room will provide you with a comfortable base to explore the wonders of Cornwall.
A double room with TV, Free Sat, Amazon Firestick, tea & coffee making facilities, newly refurbished ensuite - shower room.
Locally there is an excellent provision of food choices within walking distance. We are also perfectly positioned to explore the entire County. Previous guests have visited The Historic Port of Charlestown (Poldark), Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Personally I love, Newquay, Crantock, Holywell Bay & Perranporth.

  • This place is the perfect spot if you want to stay somewhere close to the Eden Project like us. The room is comfy and stylish and the en suite is lovely, makes it feel more like a hotel. I didn't get a chance to meet Jeremy but he always responded quickly and seemed very nice. Would stay again if in the area.

  • Great location for what we needed. Really simple to check in. Fresh cups and water everyday. Quick updates to let us know there had been a fault with the internet. Clean and tidy

    Holly2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great location, the town is a 2 minute walk which has plenty of shops and places to eat and it's also close to the Eden Project. This was our first time using Airbnb so we weren't sure what to expect, so easy, the room was very clean and Jeremy was very helpful.

My place is close to the local towns of St Austell, Truro or Bodmin. There are many beaches close by and you’ll love my place because of the peace and quiet and the location we are within reach of so many places in just a few minutes such as 'The Eden Project' and 'The Lost Gardens of Heligan' which can be reached and these are open most of the year! The area and Cornwall is steeped in history! My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers and the scenery is breathtaking!
Our place is unique because our guests have the use of the 2 rooms and the heated conservatory on the lower floor with large TV, they can relax in the evenings with a cuppa in the sitting room/second bedroom complete with TV. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the sitting room. This gives our guests their own bit of space but still feel at home! On the warmer evenings they might want to eat outside in the garden where there is a large patio table and chairs for their use. The main guest bedroom has a kingsize bed and a single sofa bed. The second bedroom/sitting room. Please note:- Breakfast is laid out in the main dining room upstairs. Please note: Breakfast is laid out from Monday-Friday 7-8am Weekends 8-9am Check out 10am
The neighbourhood around us is very quiet, we hardly ever see anyone walking past unless they are going past while walking their dogs. And as we are in a cul-de-sac the only traffic that comes through our road are locals or if someone has to turn around at the bottom of the road. The village is just a short walk away from us and has a variety of shops including Premier Store, Co op, veg shop, butchers, charity shop, laundrette, fish n chip shop, Chinese take-away, small cafe, taxi service, kebabs, pharmacy and post office. Oh! And a lovely pub! The Rock Inn just a few minutes walk, and they serve delicious food as we and our other guests can recommend! If you would like a table booked for the evening of your arrival please just ask and i can do that for you as i have for many other of my guests! Both pub and the fish-n-chip shop are within walking distance, their food is delicious and is also a chip shop has a restaurant should our guests want to eat in.

Quirky old sweet shop that now comprises of a self contained bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. The flat has its own entrance and a parking space is provided. The beautiful harbour of Charlestown seen frequently in Poldark, is a 10 minute walk away. The town centre is a twenty minute walk and local shops and pubs are all walkable in minutes.
Kitchen and bathroom on ground level. The kitchen has a cooker, fridge, sink and microwave. Small table with 2 chairs. the bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet. You need to clime some steep stairs to the bedroom which comprises of a double bed, desk/drawer unit and a TV.

    Mike2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great little place! Easy to get to from the train station and had lots of cozy blankets! Would absolutely stay again if I was in Cornwall!

  • This is an adorable little flat, the bed is very comfortable, and it’s a great place for exploring the local area. You’ll feel very warmly welcomed here! It’s quite chilly, the oil heaters work well but I’d recommend bringing slippers and a hot water bottle if you tend to get cold at night. There’s a very quirky cottage feel to the place, which is lovely.

  • We stayed in the Sweet Shop cottage for New Years Eve, for a country getaway. The house was so small and cosy with a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom upstairs. The house was decorated with local artwork and had a variety of leaflets about the local area, Chris also told us where to visit which was great. We were welcomed by Chris who explained how to work everything and left us a cream tea which was a lovely treat after our 2 hour drive down. The kitchen had the basics and there were supplies to make tea and coffee, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle ect. The bathroom had an amazing shower and the bedroom was spacious with a really comfy bed and TV for entertainment. The house had no central heating so the floor was really cold (take slippers!) but upstairs was fine. There were oil heaters on both levels to keep us warm. We walked down to Charlestown Harbour which was beautiful with the sea, rocks and fairy lights everywhere. It was the peaceful break we were looking for and I can't recommend Chris' house more!

    Brittany2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication, and easy check in. Chris provided scones, jam and cream, which was a lovely touch. Comfortable and self contained, parking space available, made it a great place for a short stay. Easy walking distance to Charlestown Harbour!

  • Lovely little place.. full of character and ideal to have a parking space so close to the town..

    Sarah2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely and quirky little place. Fab location for local shops/ pubs/ beach. It is on the road so a little noisy, but you can’t hear this from the bedroom. Great for 2 people. The cream tea was lovely - thank you! The parking was good, but wouldn’t recommend if you have a large vehicle/ 4x4. The hosts were super welcoming and friendly.
