Great accomodation and the hosts very friendly.

This home was perfect for our family (parents + 2 college-age daughters). We appreciated the historical and beautiful home. The sleeping arrangements were particularly good - very comfortable mattresses, pillows, and linens. There were good safety features too, like flashlights around and well-lit stairs. We appreciated being a bit away from the crowds near the center of town but still near subways and buses. We stayed for a week and so explored the quiet neighborhood pretty thoroughly, and particularly enjoyed seeing a small school bus full of very sleepy preschoolers in their small straw hats a couple of times! We will definitely try to stay again on our next trip.

Big family, initially was worried about space and if everyone would be comfortable. the place turned out perfect, made break fast at home easily for the kids and elderly folks with the fresh produce bought nearby! superb experience!

It was a very spacious and comfortable room for the price.I'm sure I'll put it on my list of places to stay the next time I come to Shiga.

Micky is a great host! One of a kind! From the first day that we exchanged messages till the last day of our stay, she has been nothing but responsive, kind and considerate! Her recommendations were AMAZING, considering that we are a relatively large group of 5 adults and 2 toddlers! She even went that extra mile to help us to source for activities that were suitable for our twins! Even after we had checked-in, she made sure that we were well settled and gifted us the yummiest belgium waffles the next day together with books suitable for our twins to read during their stay! My twins still calls her home the "pretty house"! The home was so cosy and perfect for our 6 nights stay! Imagine the space our twins had to play and run after each other! The kitchen was well-equipped and we had everything that we needed for home cooked meals! The entire home was clean and there was also a vacuum cleaner provided! And if you have the chance, please book the private chef experience!! AMAZING!!

Amazing place off a quiet street in the middle of Kyoto. The home was very spacious for us and had everything we needed and more to use as a home base. It was ~10 minute walk from Kyoto station and had nearby bus and subway stations. The bathroom felt like a spa and the outdoor area was super private. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to stay again in the future!

The place is located in a lovely neighbourhood and a nice choice if you want to walk around Lake Biwa. The place is very clean, tidy and everything is well maintained. Worth the price and I recommend it so much!

The home was beautiful and worked for my family of 5. The host provided a nice assortment of refreshments in the refrigerator which was nice to have after our short walk from the station. My wife and I used the bedroom on the ground floor. The bed was very comfy and it was private from the main sleeping area upstairs where our children slept. The kitchen could work for a meal but there are many restaurants close by. One night. We ate at “the perfect” restaurant one block away….you pass by it from the train station. If you really want to experience a neighborhood restaurant, I recommend. It wasn’t until we started translating the menu that I realized the sign out front wasn’t advertising yakatori specials…but all you can drink specials. lol! It was loud, fun, a little smoky and the food was good and authentic. Get the sashimi course. The sauna and plunge pool was amazing to have at the end of each day too! Bicycle rental shop and 7-11 are steps away.

The house is very clean. Useful amenities and one of the best bathrooms. Best for elderly guests since no need to use any stairs. Walking distance to Dainachi station.

comfortable accomodation very conveniently located near 2 train stations from different lines. however could hear noise from trains passing by. host was very responsive and friendly. worth for listed price!

May was terrific. If you want to live like a local in a high-end apartment, this place is it. Beautifully decorated. No shoes. Proper heated bathtub. 4 floor walkup. Not a place for big suitcases as staircase is very narrow by USA standards but spacious in the rooms with large closets. The tatami bedroom is lovely. But for those who want a western bed, the 2 small singles with very firm mattresses are an alternative.

Comfortable apartment with a super roof terrace (but two floors higher). Breakfast on the terrace every day. Wonderful overview of the city. Sumi was very informative and even took us to the station. Recommended to do: rent bicycles at Cycle Garden (is around the corner) and cycle along the rivers.

It was a great stay! Beautiful view from the window, but it is obstructed by an electric pole. A bit dark to go up our room during night time, but it was safe!

We had a great 3 day stay at Ken’s apartment. The neighborhood is perfect for exploring Kyoto - train and bus stations are just down the block. We walked to a different restaurant (off a list recommended by Ken which made our life easy) every night and had 3 delicious meals. There are shops and stores all around and the Nishiki market is very close too. The space was perfect for us - great bed, a frig and a freezer (with an ice cube tray - wow!) plus a washing machine. The terrace is amazing for breakfast, evening hour relaxing and watching the birds (herons in the river especially). The river path is great for a walk or run. There’s a great gelato place down the block. It’s quiet and comfortable. Ken is an amazing host - friendly and helpful. Book this place - and enjoy the real life style of Kyoto. Highly recommend!

The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience feel warm and personal. The space was clean, quiet, and had everything I needed. It was also a great way to experience a more local and authentic side of Kyoto. I’m really grateful for their hospitality and would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful stay.

This was our fifth visit to Kyoto and this was my most favorite accommodation. While this is a small studio apartment so many things stood out to make this such a spectacular stay. Sandwiched between the canal and the Kamo river, you can enjoy views of the river at dawn or sunset or step out to tree lined canals. The apartment is well appointed with everything you’d need for a short stay, from cooking yourself a simple meal to doing laundry. I enjoyed being able to step out quickly to explore, shop, or grab a bite experiencing the energy and noise of the city, but be able to quickly dip back into the quiet and peace of the neighborhood and apartment. Finally, Ken was such a responsive and kind host. I’d love to come back.

We had a great time at this apartment! This was the perfect place to stay in Kyoto. there is a ton to do in the immediate area around the neighborhood and May was an amazing host!

We had a wonderful stay at this Airbnb in Kyoto! The place was spotless, comfortable, and very convenient—located in a great area that made it easy to explore the city. Our host, Ka, was incredibly helpful and responsive throughout the stay, which made everything even smoother. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto!

5 star to everything! the host, the unit, the location, the communication etc. The unit is spacious enough for four adults, it is clean, quite, We found it to be an easy walk to downtown anywhere. The host is very responsive, communicated well before making the check-in process and stay very smoothy. If we could come again to kyoto we will definitely stay May’s unit ! Thank you May!

Lovely place to stay - clean, big, and very well equipped!

Nicely designed building. Room is tight but cozy. Toilet has heater which is extremely useful in winter. Need to walk a fair distance to the closest train stations.

This accommodation is perfectly located, walking distance from Kyoto station. plenty of food and drinks in the area. plenty of space in the apartment for a little family.
