Cozy Cabin on the Bourbon Trail

TahleeRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Such a lovely and peaceful base to stay while exploring the Bourbon Trail. It’s at least a 20 minute drive to get to most places nearby but we really enjoyed driving as the countryside is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for being super accommodating hosts and an experience we won’t forget!

Handcrafted Cabin in Woodsy Heaven

JimRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I came for the weekend after completed a stressful project for work. I needed some quiet alone time, and this was just the place for that. Aside from having oversized cookware for 1 person (ie large electric skillet for 2 scrambled eggs) everything was great! Cozy, serene, great view of the woods from the deck, and quiet. I will likely return someday!

The River's Edge Oasis, close to downtown

KindrickRating, 5 stars3 months ago
The River’s Edge Oasis was a great place to stay for our quick trip through Louisville. Had some difficulties for a few minutes getting the keys, but James answered very quickly and we figured out the issue and everything was smooth sailing from there. The house is decorated very nicely and very clean, you’ve got everything you need and if you don’t have it there are plenty of options around to find what you’re looking for. It was beautiful to wake up overlooking the Ohio River in the early mornings, very quiet and peaceful. James and his team were very accommodating and it made our short stay so enjoyable. We would definitely book this house again if we’re ever in the Louisville area!

Toddler pool/Free pet stay

SarahRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Peaceful getaway. Beautiful farmhouse. My dog enjoyed running around the yard with plenty of space to roam and explore. I stayed with a group of 4 songwriters, and we had plenty of beds to sleep in and plenty of room to create music. Beds were cozy. Front porch was nice. Lots of peace and quiet out there. I loved it.

studio apt w/bridge o/gorge, deck, view of woods

MichelleRating, 5 stars1 week ago
There aren't enough words to explain just how much we loved it here. The space itself was very charming. We loved hanging out on the back porch and the bridge. The party room was so neat with all kinds of trinkets to look at. The property was out of this world. Lots of trails to walk or golf cart on and cool wildlife and bird watching. Barbara was so friendly and we really enjoyed talking with her and meeting Iona the dog and the horses too. This place is peaceful, so if you're looking to relax you've found it.

Arthur Lakes Log Cabin

MeganRating, 5 stars1 month ago
The moment we arrived at the cabin, we were in love. This cabin is quaint, peaceful and private. We rented it for our 28th Wedding Anniversary and were not disappointed. We spent much of our time on the front porch. At night we would sit and listen to the Whip-Poor-Wills and the occasional Owl. Even a rainstorm during our stay couldn't stop us from enjoying the porch. One of my favorite things was the creak of the screen doors. It was music to my ears. My husband was on the fence about no television and brought a portable DVD player which we never used during our 4 night stay! The cabin was just too peaceful to need or want tv! And the bed is so comfortable! We think this cabin is quite the little gem and you'll find yourself very lucky to spend some time here. We know we want to return already! If you're looking for a peaceful, quiet, private place then this fits the bill. No big city nonsense. No light pollution. No crowds. No stress! Just a beautiful, comfortable, fun stay.

Rough River Oasis: Close to Lake - Deck - Fire Pit

TallyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The stay was great! Went for a weekend getaway, and it was the perfect, cozy, & relaxing home we needed. If I am ever back in the area, I will choose to stay here again! Sarah was super proactive and responsive with messages! The listing was spectacular to begin with, but I was blown away when we walked in with what all the space included. A binder had ideas of how to spend time in the area which was much appreciated, too. Overall, I was incredibly impressed by this airbnb. Definitely my favorite place I’ve stayed :)

Bourbon Trail Cabin!~hot tub~hiking~game shed!

JimRating, 5 stars2 days ago
The Bourbon Trail Cabin was perfect for us and our friends to meet halfway between our homes (different states). This was by far the best cabin rental we have ever had from any of the many different rental sites. The attention to detail and the extras made it a wonderful time. The kitchen had everything one could want or need to cook at "home" while staying in the cabin. The little extras is what stood out to us; hair ties, quality bath sundries and a huge assortment of games if you are forced to stay indoors. The attention to detail was excellent and the cleanliness was top notch.

Luxury Cabin @Cave Run Lake / RRG

PriscillaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We just celebrated our 20th anniversary at this listing and it was all we hoped it would be. We wanted something romantic, peaceful, secluded and cozy. This exceeded all of our expectations! There were so many thoughtful touches such as: throw blankets, robes and the towel warmer. We appreciated that all of the remotes were labeled as well. The back porch area was so serene, it is a great spot for naps, morning coffee and a good book. This was the nicest rentals we have ever stayed at. It felt like a romantic luxury resort that we had all to ourselves. It was exactly what we envisioned when we planned our romantic getaway and yet it also exceeded our expectations. We will be back:)!

Your guide to Kentucky

All About Kentucky

Bordered by the Ohio River to the north and the gently rolling Appalachian Mountains to the east, Kentucky is a land of rugged hills, raging rivers, endless caves, and oh so much good music. The state’s musical innovations span several genres, including bluegrass, blues, and country, spawned from the eastern hills where you can still find local artists and national acts performing in places like Covington, with its independent theaters and music venues. Along with being the birthplace of bourbon, Kentucky also boasts an impressive culinary tradition: its unique hickory smoked barbecue style has spread to the rest of the country and can be traced back to the Welsh settlers of the western wetlands.

For a dose of Kentucky culture, stroll Louisville’s fashionable Frankfort Avenue in with its trendy bars and bohemian vibes, or spend a day in the cute little town of Bardstown, where you can sample the state’s legendary distillate, see an outdoor musical, and visit a whiskey museum. If it’s the outdoors you crave, explore the rugged Daniel Boone National Forest or the sandstone bluffs in the Red River Gorge Geological Area that make up just a small portion of the almost 2 million acres of public land in the state.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Kentucky

Sitting between the warmer climate zone of the south and the colder northern areas of the country, Kentucky finds itself with generally mild temperatures and pleasant weather conditions throughout much of the year. Summers can bring high humidity, and with that often comes dramatic thunderstorms that sweep the landscape. For summer festivities, the famous Kentucky State Fair takes place towards the end of August, and the International Bar-B-Q Festival takes place around mid-May in Owensboro for a taste of the hickory smoked meats and spicy vinegar-based BBQ sauces the region is known for.

The diverse deciduous forests break out in a brilliant display of autumn hues during the fall, which can be a great time to search for cabin rentals in Kentucky, as the temperatures tend to be the mildest during the shoulder seasons. With the winter comes slightly lower temperatures and a reduction in humidity. Regardless of the time of year, the state's levels of rainfall tend to stay relatively stable.

Top things to do in Kentucky

Mammoth Cave National Park

Mammoth Cave National Park is a 52,830-acre limestone cave system in central western Kentucky with over 400 miles of surveyed tunnel, making it the most extensive known cave system on the planet. Spending as little as half an hour, or up to a full day of exploration, is possible in the underground passageways alone. Above ground, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, and horseback riding are all on offer.

Berea

This rural countryside town is known as the Folk Arts & Crafts Capital of Kentucky. Artisans, artists, and creatives have flocked to this UNESCO Creative City for its tradition of supporting the arts since its earliest days as an English settlement. Museums and galleries like the Appalachian Artisan Center, where you can find exhibits, classes, and art for purchase, can be found in Berea’s old town Artisan Village alongside glass studios and other artisanal workshops for patronage.

Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum

Located in Owensboro, the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame highlights the musicians and performers who helped bring the iconic style into the limelight. In addition, the museum has several displays and exhibits that detail the history behind the music, as well as lesson opportunities and several live concerts throughout the year.
