We renovated a two-story earthen-walled storehouse built in the Edo period and turned it into a guest house. Although it is not spacious, a kitchen with an IH hotplate has been installed on the first floor while retaining the atmosphere of a storehouse with its earthen walls and thick beams. The first and second floors are fully air-conditioned for a comfortable stay. You can experience the soundproofing unique to a storehouse, the coolness in summer, and the warmth in winter. There is a sauna facility about 5 minutes away by car, Anekawa Onsen about 15 minutes away, and Kita-Omi-no-Yu about 20 minutes away. There are many tourist spots unique to Nagahama, which has often been the stage for history, in the surrounding area. Hikone Castle, a national treasure, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Nagahama Castle, Ishida Mitsunari's birthplace, Kotani Castle, one of Japan's premier mountain castles, and Shizugatake, a battlefield, etc. It is also less than a 20-minute drive to the Sekigahara Battle site. Besides the area around Lake Biwa, there are plenty of things to enjoy besides history, such as Nagahama Tetsudo Square, Japan's oldest railway station building, the Yanmar Museum, where children can also play, and Kurokabe Square. 　This 300-tsubo rental villa is limited to one group per day and is surrounded by nature at the foot of the Hakusan Ski Resort in the Lake West area of Shiga Prefecture. In winter, spend the day with a warm wood stove. Firewood is available free of charge, mainly sawtooth oak and beech. We will carefully explain how to use the stove at check-in. Please use it with peace of mind. 　On the south side of the villa, you can spend a quiet time with a hammock and bench in the sawtooth oak forest. On the east side is a barbecue corner, a long garden, and a wooden deck. On the north side, there is a sawtooth oak forest and you can pick chestnuts in autumn. It is a one-building independent type, so you will not see others. Free parking is included. Parking is available right in front of the building where you are staying. Basically, everything is self-service. Amenities such as towels, shampoo, and toothbrushes are not included. It can accommodate up to 6 people, but it is intended for families, including children. It may feel cramped with six adults. Simple cooking utensils are included, but no condiments are included. BBQs and fires must be finished by 10 pm as per local rules. If you bring the appropriate tools, you can do it near the building you are staying in. If you want to use the BBQ building, you'll need to book it for an additional fee and check in by 5 pm.
