Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Highland County

We've been to Warm Springs a few times now for long weekends from Richmond, VA and it's truly the best location and experience we've had. We came here with another family and there was plenty of space. The kids had the best time exploring the river right outside our door, and the porch was delightful to spend time reading, eating and napping. The wood fire in the living room was the cherry on top. Truly lovely in every way, we will most definitely be coming back again and again.

Great old house with interesting historical structures out back. The view is beautiful. Comfortable living room and kitchen works well for cooking. Dining room was great for meals and board games. With two full bathrooms and four bedrooms, we had more than enough space for 4 adults. The wind was howling at night but earplugs help cut down the noise. Check out the weather before your trip, this is at a high elevation and can be windy and colder than you might expect in march. We went into McDowell and Monterey for the Maple Festival. Got the trout at Highs restaurant. Oh, also really enjoyed the walking trail behind the house. Highly likely we’d like to return some time, thank you!

Has an elegant feel, amazing views, and very private. A perfect getaway from the hustle of DC. Lots of land to walk around too. Very country. The hosts were also very gracious, flexible, and responsive.

Just finished a two-night stay in this lovely home outside of McDowell, Virginia. The place was spotless and included all the amenities we needed, even an outdoor charcoal grill which came in handy. The downstairs has central air which was fantastic. The upstairs is cooled with an window unit that worked wonderfully. The pictures shown on the listing are very accurate. The deck is a nice place to relax and has nice views of the valley. There is another home about 100-150 meters away but we didn't hear a thing during out stay. I would definitely book this place again.

This was the best, most comfortable and cleanest rental we have ever been in, the most at home feeling. Even the pictures on the walls were well thought out and chosen. The beds were most comfortable and warm. I can go on and on but the bottom line is that we confidently want to go back and enjoy a wee bit more time.

Our whole group enjoyed our stay at the farmhouse. The house was fully stocked with everything you could need and more. We found the place to be very neat and tidy. The mountain view was very nice and we could check out the fall colors. Make sure you walk the "Loop" trail on the property! The directions to the house were easy to understand and the check in was simple. We would definitely stay here again!

This was the perfect place for my partner and I (and our dog!) to stay for the weekend. It was quiet and peaceful and extremely private. Everything we could’ve wanted was provided. We especially loved the view from the backyard (the sounds of the creek 👌🏻), the hot tub, and the master bathroom with heated floors and jacuzzi. We are so looking forward to our next adventure here!

My husband and I decided to extend our honeymoon stay in the area and the lodging we had been staying at couldn’t host us for the extra day, which is how we came to find this gem! We loved this apartment and wished we could have stayed longer! The location was great and the home itself was just STUNNING. From the low lights & jazz music playing on arrival, to the cute & homey decor, to all the extras (robes, espresso, cozy blankets), this place completely impressed us. Oh, and the outdoor area was just an extra plus! The host was super responsive and sweet and couldn’t have possibly done anything better, it was all perfect! We would 100% recommend this stay and we hope to return for an anniversary trip!

Fantastic getaway! The apartment was beautiful, clean and very comfortable for my family of 4. The property itself was lovely, with stunning views of the rural surroundings and mountains. Sharon was so sweet and extremely responsive to our communication. My family stayed here on 2 different occasions and both visits were as described. Very much looking forward to future visits :)

We’ve stayed at David’s condo for several years in a row! It’s clean, convenient to local activities/places, and a beautiful spot on the mountain.

The Bohemian Suite was such an absolute pleasure to stay in! When I walked in, I was immediately surrounded by an inviting space, colorful and fun decor, and beautiful signs everywhere with cute quotes. The bed was big and comfortable, the shower had great water pressure, the place was spotless. They thought of the details- had stocked the Keurig area, had a chess board set up to play, books in the reading nook, and even provided makeup towels! One thing I loved was that they did not have a TV out in the open, but did have one tucked away in a closet which was easy to roll out into whichever room you choose. Super clever and thoughtful! The ceilings in this suite were so high and gorgeous, it made the space feel huge. Walkable to everything in the town, easy parking, felt super safe and quiet. We absolutely were sad to leave to the Bohemian suite!

Beautiful view, great space, and close to downtown Staunton (10 min). The host is very responsive and accommodating! We were sad to leave and hope to return soon for a longer stay. Highly recommend!!

My son and I really enjoyed the stay in Sarah’s place. Easily walkable to the lift, just up the road from the village, and beautiful views from the from porch. Comfortable and quiet.

Communication was great, the location was nice and the description of the facility was spot on. It was roomy and comfortable. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Really enjoyed my stay. It is just far enough from the village to give plenty of peace and quiet and privacy, but close enough to bike to the lifts and village center. The cabin was clean and extremely comfortable. I plan on coming back!

We really enjoyed our stay at your condo. It was nice to be in a newer unit. It was very clean and comfortable. The location is great being walkable to Fire and Frost, a coffee/wood fired pizza restaurant, and we prefer the upper mountain location also being walkable to golf, tennis and trails. We hope to come back to Wintergreen soon. It is a great place to relax!

Visiting the area in May makes you feel like you’re visiting a ghost town. However, staying at this AirBNB gave you the coziness of a cabin with the privacy and comfort of knowing you’re not alone. We are so grateful for our hostess with supplying a delightfully cozy space with all the essentials for a weekend getaway away for two. We loved every minute of staying in and being unplugged from our work life.

This is by far the cleanest Airbnb at snowshoe I have ever stayed in. The check in was super nice and easy. I highly recommend.

Wonderful condo with amazing views. Close to hiking trails, and a restaurant right across the street. Watching the sunrise on the deck is so amazing and peaceful. Lauren is extremely responsive.
