Beach house vacation rentals in Costa Rica

We had the loveliest time at this beachfront house. The pool is gorgeous - not too warm or cold. It was so refreshing to relax in the pool and stare at the waves. The house is in the best part of Esterillos, right in front of the “mermaid” and the tide pools. The house is well designed and makes use of all the spaces. It was clean and well equipped. You can also walk to the nearby store and there are a few good restaurants just a block or two away walking along the beach. It was an amazing place to share with family, we will be back!

We had such a lovely time staying at Casa De Celeste. The property was absolutely gorgeous and in close proximity to town and adventures. It was the perfect getaway before our wedding. The caretaker Vincente was so kind and very helpful. He truly made the place feel like home. We will return and are looking forward to that day. I highly recommend this property.

Great location, a short walk from the beach. Spacious bedrooms and living area. Maud is a very considerate and accommodating host.

The listing is very clear, this is an open air house. If you’re not okay with a few bugs in the house, iguanas on the porch, frogs on the walkway, and having howler monkeys as an alarm clock then this place isn’t for you. For us- it was a little piece of Heaven. It’s a short walk to the beach and filled with flora, fauna, birds, and lizards. In other words, magical. I only wish we could have spent a few extra days here and brought gifts for the care takers. Hands down, my favorite Airbnb ever!

The sunsets alone were worth every penny!! We raced back to the house every night just to watch the colors change. The house itself is quaint, clean, organized and quite perfect! It’s small but they have what is needed to hang your clothes as there is not a lot of room to leave open luggage. Our family ran and played on the quiet beach. I think we saw 5 people total.. great hard packed sand for morning and evening walks. There was a spot that was very dirty (glass, plastic, etc) from high tide that you would want to wear shoes to walk through. Giovanni was thorough in communications and quick to respond! His directions were very much appreciated. We knew there weren’t a ton of amenities nearby. But it’s no joke, when you leave the house pack what you need as it’s not near activities and has very limited eating. Not an issue for most - just a heads up!

Thank you to the hosts for creating a true paradise, this stay went above and beyond anything I had envisioned. My daughter and I felt at home the moment we arrived. The view of the ocean absolutely blew us away, and the peaceful jungle setting made it even more magical. We felt completely safe and private the entire time, which let us fully relax and enjoy every moment. This was more than a vacation rental, it felt like a retreat. We’ll never forget it. And one last thing, we HIGHLY recommend the tiramisu from Potz Bistro just down the road.

We loved our week stay in Playa Hermosa. The view is amazing and the house was the perfect size for us. We loved the gym, deck and pool. Ian was super helpful with scheduling activities. The best part of our stay was definitely having Rebecca come every morning and make us the best breakfasts ever! She is a superstar and even helped us with our Spanish. We will definitely return and would highly recommend visiting!

Casa Baru is a beautiful home and a perfect location for accessing the beach and many great restaurants. When we walked in the door my kids said, “This looks like a celebrity’s house!”. The outdoor space is beautiful and serene and indoors is spacious and comfortable. Juan was super responsive to any questions we had and he had great local recommendations for restaurants. I highly recommend this beautiful home and Juan as a host!

The Casa Vera Vista was a beautiful villa on the cliff side over looking the bay with the most beautiful sunsets. The villa was close to the beach and great restaurants plus a good starting point for many excursions. The concierge team was always there when we needed them throughout the entire trip as well as with planning prior to arriving. The house was very clean, decorated very tastefully and had comfortable beds. The daily cleaning service was very helpful with three kiddos in tow. We had two dinners and breakfast with the recommended chefs and they exceeded our expectations, with both delicious food and friendly company. Our driver Raudy was always on time, professional and was very helpful in getting around with our busy itinerary. We definitely did a lot on our trip (zip lining, deep sea fishing, ATVs, snorkeling, rainforest, waterfalls, hot springs etc) and staying at the villa with the concierge service made it that much more special. Barbara and John were literally the kindest people in Costa Rica you could stay with. Our toddler, the biggest food critic of them all loved every food recommendation we received. He danced to the music in restaurants and was welcomed with love by locals. The home is so private, relaxing, beautifully decorated, everyone in our family felt at home here. We cooked in the kitchen and found it fully equipped and easy to cook for a group. We loved watching monkeys swaying on neighboring trees and birds singing each morning near the large deck. We slept so peacefully in their comfortable large beds every night and the space was quite large so our kiddo got to get his wiggles out. Their pool was the perfect temperature everyday and large enough you could do laps. John provided such a throughout and very legit surf lesson. Overall we LOVED this home and it was well worth the journey into this cool little surf town. - Christina

Great house and stay, very private and secure. I went using my RAV4 SUV and had the problems getting the car up in the hill since it was raining a lot. There’s parking in the entrance and we decided to walk up to avoid any issues with the car. I highly recommend using a 4X4 to get to the property. There’s cleaning service everyday which makes it a plus to me!

We absolutely loved our stay. The 15 minute walk to the beach and restaurants was easy and always full of adventures. The backyard is an oasis where you never knew what to find. We watched groups of monkeys hang out. A sloth chill for the day. Macaws 🦜 fly by and endless amounts of hummingbirds feed on the foliage around. It was such a peaceful yet convenient location that made us not want to leave.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is beautiful and clean. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful experience.

This is the most relaxed I have been in years. I’d stay a year if I could afford it. The sounds of nature just make it so easy to drift off to a nice sleep. The outside kitchen was not difficult to work with. Everything I needed was literally right there. The pool is perfect for relaxing in and is private. While I have a child, it was particularly nice to have a kid free atmosphere where you can just relax. There are so many things to do near by and Jim and his wife are lovely. Luna, the pup, is an absolute joy. I already miss it and can’t wait to come back! Thank you for your hospitality and the relaxing weekend. 🫶🏽

Casa de Paz was exactly as the listing described. Cynthia greeted us at the house, was thorough with giving us all of the info we needed including recommendations. There were many thoughtful touches inside and out. We truly felt like we were in paradise!

Firstly, thanks Lissette for everything! WOW!! Is what comes to mind, this home has a spectacular view of the ocean, that we could of sat, watched and listen to for hours. It was very clean and cozy. I absolutely loved it. Lissette was very kind and helpful, even before my check in. She answered all my questions about the area she provided great recommendations. (If i would of had a little patience...lol.)Lissette also have a very helpful binder with instructions, tips, and restaurants provided for her guest. Lastly, don't second guess it, if you come across this listing book it immediately, you will not be disappointed. Pura Vida!!! enjoy Costa Rica is was amazing!!!!

Malena's place is absolutely stunning and the perfect home base to explore Santa Teresa from. Waking up to the sunrise every morning looking out over the jungle and the mountains was magical, every detail of the place and property is beautiful, and Malena was an awesome host!

Absolutely perfect for our girls’ trip! Villa Koa was everything we hoped for and more. The house is spacious, beautifully laid out, and the beds were super comfy. The backyard and views were absolutely stunning—perfect for relaxing and catching up. Just a heads-up: the villa is nestled in the mountains/jungle, so bugs are part of the experience—but nothing unexpected for the setting and totally manageable. You’ll definitely need a 4x4 with high clearance (we had a Suzuki Jimny and it handled the road great). The house is not walkable to town or restaurants, so having a car is a must. Special shoutout to Sophie, the concierge—she was amazing! She gave us fantastic local recommendations and helped plan some great outings. We had a brief issue with the hot water, but concierge responded immediately and maintenance got it sorted right away. Already planning our return next year—can’t wait!

This was one of the nicest properties we have ever stayed in. The property is incredible. Josh and Cheyenne were super helpful and responsive. Josh showed my kids the chicken coup and greeted us with fresh eggs. He also helped us change our flat which was much appreciated. The property is very clean, tastefully designed with an incredible view. Would highly recommend a four wheel drive and finding it is a bit tricky but Cheyenne guided us. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We had an absolutely incredible experience at Tayana’s home. The house was super clean and easy to access from the main road — there were 4 of us (two adults and two kids). It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and then some. We spend the day at one of the local beaches, made dinner and usually watched an ocean storm from the bed. We saw so many gorgeous birds from the house, but the highlight for us was the toucans. They were everywhere (both kinds!). It was such a delightful experience. I hope to be back soon. Also, for those of you who read the reviews about construction, I didn’t hear much of anything. It was a serene location.

McKenzie’s place was amazing! It looks exactly as it does in the pictures. It’s a beautiful place in an extremely beautiful location. The private pool and patio were so nice to have. We also accessed the resort beach club, which was a five minute walk away. The hotel also coordinated a zipline adventure and we surfed and did a snorkeling trip while there also. The scarlet macaws were also gorgeous and came by numerous times a day. McKenzie was so helpful with any questions we had. She was extremely proactive in resolving one issue that came up very quickly and way beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend this villa.
