Shangrila has gotten even better. My son, Gino, & his sweet little dog, Frida, are cohosting with me. Gino is very knowledgable about the many hiking trails in the area. The delightful Occidental Bohemian Farmers Market runs Fri. evenings from the end of June till the end of Oct. If you long to get your hands dirty, but don't have a garden, we'll share ours. There's always something to do!
Your spacious room overlooks a redwood forest with a meadow & wooded hills beyond. You may think you want to visit Sonoma County vineyards, beaches, or the Russian River, but once you're here, you may not want to leave. The room is quiet. You have your own bathroom called "The Mexi" because of Mexican tiles & mementos of travels in that country. There is safe, off street parking. You are within walking distance of the picturesque village of Occidental where there are good restaurants, gift shops, & tennis courts. People also love to ride bicycles around here even tho the roads are narrow, curvy, & steep. We are early risers & will have coffee ready by 7:00 with a gourmet continental breakfast consisting of home pressed organic apple juice, homegrown organic seasonal fruits, homemade jam & a special sweet. We are well situated as a stopover, but we could also be a destination. We have lawn Bocce ball & horse shoes. For rest after those exertions, there are hammocks in the redwoods. There is such good bird watching here that the local Audubon stops here during their Xmas bird count. When the weather isn't conducive to outside time, there is a fireplace in the living room. We love to share this beautiful place. Come on over!
Shangrila is in a quiet, pretty neighborhood in Occidental.
  • Mary has a lovely place nestled in the redwoods at the end of a quiet road. The host was warm and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Mary's house is in a great location to see the Redwoods & also the coast. The bedroom & bathroom were clean & very comfortable, Mary, Gino & Freida were very welcoming, we also had time to sit out the back amongst the redwoods around their home. The beds were very comfortable, towels left to use & a kettle & mugs for tea...which is a great touch for the British like us that take teabags everywhere we go!! Occidental is a 5 minute drive & a lovely little town with some shops & restaurants for brunch/lunch (we ate in Howards) or dinner (Union Hotel Restaurant & Barley & Hops). The Redwoods in Armstrong Park are amazing & if you are fit enough take a hike on one of the Ridge paths, ensure you have a couple of bottles of water each, good shoes & walking poles if needed as it can get steep...but the views at the top are great.

  • My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Mary's. Mary and her son Gino (and his dog Frida) are wonderful hosts, super accommodating and personable. She made coffee cake for breakfast and there is always fresh fruit available. They told us about the local farmers market in Occidental and the Grove of Old Trees (a must-do easy walk). Her home is lovely -- I'd say a work of art -- in the most gorgeous setting in the redwoods. Every room has skylights to enjoy the towering redwoods. Idyllic. A wedding brought us to the area for the weekend, but if time permitted, I could have spent the days in a hammock under the trees and playing with Frida. I'm sorry we had to bug out so early Sunday morning for our long drive back to LA and miss saying goodbye. I love that Mary calls it "Shangrila," because it is!

  • Mary was helpful, kind, generous and well connected in her community. Not to mention her home is beautiful, well kept and has an organic, wholesome feel. Mary made us feel welcome in her home and we are so happy we stumbled upon Shangrila! Would stay there again.

A rustic, cozy cottage nestled in the majestic redwoods of Sonoma county makes the perfect weekend getaway or month retreat. Relax in 2 acres of landscaped garden or drive to convenient restaurants, the ocean, or San Francisco.
This is perfect for the person/persons who love nature. It is a cozy converted chicken coop with an added deck and outdoor shower. The fridge, microwave and hot plate make it easy to stay in although the adorable town of Occidental with its delicious restaurants are fun.
This is a no through road so it is very quiet. And even though the houses are far apart, the neighbors are close and watch out for each other. There is a beautiful walking path available to the neighborhood.
  • Had a lovely time staying at Josephine’a cottage. The fresh air, hot tubbing under the stars, and laying in a hammock between the redwoods were all aspects that I especially enjoyed. Our hostess was lovely and very gracious! I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for some rest and relaxation.

  • This place was beautiful! Pictures do not capture how beautiful it really is. Josephine was very sweet and helpful throughout our stay. The garden is peaceful and relaxing. It really is a truly magical place. We would definitely stay again!

  • You will absolutely love this place! If you love nature, peace and quite, and just amazing views... this is the place for you. The two days we spent at her property we never left. Walking around her 2 acres of land, took a lot of pictures, and the hot tub. It was like we were at a private retreat. We will definitely be back.

It's a quiet dead end road. There are houses close by but people keep to themselves.
  • This place is gorgeous and cozy and just what I needed. I cannot wait to find an excuse to stay here.

  • What an awesome place to spend a week. The house itself is perfect and the location is ideal as both a getaway and a central location for exploring. We spent half our time driving up and down the coast (I would recommend the Crab Roll at Cafe Aquatica in Jenner for lunch and hiking the Kortum Trail at Goat Rock Park along the coast). The other half of our trip was in Napa visiting the wineries, which was just over an hour away. Armstrong National Park is nearby if you want to hike in the redwoods and Duncan Mills is just a few minutes away with a couple nice places to eat and a good bakery/coffee shop. Everyone is really friendly and helpful. It’s a perfect vacation spot.

Charming cabin right on the Creek: Have a dog? Please let us know! 2-bedrooms plus a loft (you have to climb a ladder to the loft), wood burning stove & windows everywhere! Well-equipped kitchen, TV, and trees all around. Huge deck overlooking the Creek: sit, sip, listen, relax - large table for alfresco dining. Nightly rates $95 to $300 depending on the dates. 12% Sonoma County Occupancy Tax will be added by AirBnB and remitted to the County.
Creekside pricing is for four guests. Each additional guest, up to seven total, is $25 per person each day. DOGS: We gladly consider accepting well-behaved dogs at Creekside. We ask for an additional cleaning fee of $50 per stay when dogs visit. Here are the house rules for dogs: no matter how tidy, dogs make for more work for our housekeeper so we pay her more when there's a dog staying with us. NOTE: there is a $75 ADDITIONAL pet cleaning fee if any of the following dog rules are not fully followed: 1. ***DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON FURNITURE OR ON/IN THE BEDS*** This is the biggest challenge we have and we don't have any exceptions to this rule. 2. if your dog barks when left alone, then do not leave the dog alone at the cabin. we have neighbors who can hear the barking and they sure let us know when they hear barking. 3. if your dog is totally chill when being left alone and does NOT bark, you must still always leave in his/her crate if you go out. 4. there are doggie gates on the deck so that you can secure the two deck staircases; then your dog may walk freely on the deck. 5. always pick-up after your dog and throw away the poop bags directly into the trash bin outside. even if the dog poops out-of-the-way, it must be picked up. 6. at the end of your stay, please thoroughly sweep the entire cabin with the broom & dustpan kept in the laundry room. please then dispose of all the fur/hair, etc. in the trash bin outside. thank you for helping to make it possible for us to continue hosting dogs up at Creekside. please remember, and so that there are no misunderstandings or surprises, if our housekeeper finds that all the fur is not swept up or if there is any fur on the beds or furniture, we will apply the ADDITIONAL $75 pet cleaning fee. I hate to be so blunt, but we have been having some real challenges with some guests ignoring the dog house rules. thank you for your understanding. Creekside has a wonderful open floor plan with the living room, dining area, and kitchen in a large L-shape; 832 sq. ft. total. There are doors and windows EVERYWHERE. You can head out to the deck from either the kitchen or the dining room. There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a full size bed, plus a loft above the living room that has a full size bed (you can see the ladder to the loft in the pictures; (PLEASE NOTE THAT IT ISN'T EASY FOR EVERYONE TO CLIMB THE LADDER TO THE LOFT). WE ARE ON A DELICATE SEPTIC SYSTEM. PLEASE READ THE INFO ON THE SYSTEM IN THE HOUSE INFO BOOK ON THE DESK IN THE LIVING ROOM. Dutch Bill Creek is a stone's throw away from the deck; you can hear the creek running from the bedrooms. The creek is seasonal, and, depending on the rainfall, goes dry from around June to October. There is a 40" HD television and we have cable-tv which includes ON-Demand programming as well as streaming Netflix, Spotify, and more. Wherever possible, we use high-efficiency florescent lights. These lights sometimes take a moment to illuminate. We do have back-up light bulbs on the top shelf of the closet in the small bedroom.
We are right on Dutch Bill Creek, a tributary of the famed Russian River. World Class Russian River Valley Wineries are within a short drive on Monte Rio, as are the towns of Occidental and Jenner, and the Pacific Coast. Monte Rio itself is a very quiet town four miles past Guerneville. There are a handful of shops and restaurants in Monte Rio, proper; including a movie theater in a barn - yes, a barn. Guerneville, just five minutes away, has plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, markets (including a 24-hour Safeway), banks, gas stations, and more. Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve is right there as well. At certain times, such a holidays, long weekends, or Russian River event weeks, there may be a longer minimum stay. We will certainly tell you the options available upon receiving your request.
  • What a wonderfully peaceful spot! Peter’s cabin had everything I needed for a restful weekend away. Nice to have all the comforts of home yet surrounded literally by the redwoods. Would definitely stay again.

    Jen2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful spot to self-quarantine for a few days. The cabin is cute, clean, plenty big enough for me alone - but I can see a family being perfectly happy here! The windows facing the creek are stupendous, you feel the outdoors all the time. The porch is wonderful - especially when the sun was out. Perfect spot for breakfast, sipping coffee, or a glass of wine. I wandered down to the stream and met a couple of socially-distanced ducks, and pictured how great the little swimming hole would be such fun when it’s warmer. The wood stove was lovely and with a bit of fire starter that was left, I had several great evenings gazing at the fire. The climb to the loft would be fun for some kids, but definitely not for little kids. It’s a straight up ladder. But the loft space would have been perfect for a 10 year old me. And me as a teenager for sure! The bathroom is ordinary, but clean and plenty of towels provided. There are neighbors, but a deep sense of privacy - I never saw another person. I loved this cabin - just what I needed. And communication with Peter was flawless. Quick, easy and thorough! Thank you Peter! I look forward to a return visit.

  • Peter's place is just as nice as it looks in the listing. It's a fantastic place to stay in Sonoma county and is great for relaxing, with its wood burning stove and the creekside patio. Love the French doors looking out onto the patio too. The bed in the master bedroom was really comfortable and the bedding was really soft and high quality. Love the stylish and high quality decor. The kitchen has everything you could need for cooking, and I appreciated having multiple options for making coffee (I like to use the pour over). Location is great since it's close to restaurants and wineries as well as the Armstrong Redwood Forest, which has great hiking trails. Can't recommend this place enough and hope to stay there again next time I'm in town.

  • Peter was a fabulous host! The cabin is located in the middle of the woods with lots of beautiful trees on the property. Beds were very comfortable - our family occupied all three. We especially appreciated the excellent kitchen set up, well stocked with basic seasoning/condiments and fully equipped with small appliances, pots and pans, and baking dishes- it was more than adequate for preparing full meals for a family. The place feels secluded -a major plus if you are looking for a retreat- but the location also couldn’t be beat for its proximity to local gems - there are endless possibilities for both quick outings and day trips. The coast is less than 30 minutes away. Well groomed hiking trails are even closer, and there are lots of great local eateries where you can take a break. All in all a wonderful, cozy place to spend a week or two!

    Julie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking for seclusion and quiet and this place was wonderful! There is a neighbor right next door but I didn’t hear them once. The cabin is cozy and well-appointed. I like to cook for myself and the kitchen had plenty of pots, pans, utensils, a blender, a full-size fridge and gas range so I was very happy cooking here! Peter was caring and attentive and responded quickly to my questions. The sound of the creek right outside is pure heaven and the big glass window allow the light to pour in in the morning. I wanted to have a place to have personal work retreat surrounded my nature and the wifi worked great. I also was able to do some drawing on the deck. I took a walk up the road in the morning and it was so quiet in 45 minutes only one car passed me. The place feels clean and open and unfussy and at the same time cozy and comfortable in the chilly nights with wall heater, bedroom baseboard, the wood stove and all. Although the comforter is so warm and cozy no heat is needed in the chili nights. ( if you’re coming from another part of the country, please know that even if it’s a really hot day nighttime can be quite cool.) I appreciated the homey touches like a soft throw blanket on the couch and cloth napkins and placemats for the dining table. I hope to come back soon! Oh, yes and it was CLEAN - that’s a big deal to me!

    Sean2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy, lovely spot that had everything we needed! Nestled within the redwoods but still bright with lots of windows. Loved seeing and hearing the rushing creek literally steps from the back door. Peter was immediately available when we needed help getting around a road closure on our way up. Would love to come back!

  • Peter's place amongst the trees and the rivers was exactly what my boyfriend and I needed. We needed a quick reprieve from the city and the outside world and this home in Monte Rio is was fantastic. Everything was so well thought out, the living accommodations, kitchen, hot tub, bedrooms, everything was perfect. It definitely got chilly at night so the fireplace upstairs and the bedroom heaters made all the difference. Such a lovely, experience! We will definitely be back sooner rather than later! Thanks Peter!

  • Great cabin! Centrally located to all local attractions- beaches, rivers, restaurants, wineries, breweries, etc...

    Diana2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was the best Airbnb experience I’ve had in a long, long time! Our stay at Peter’s river cabin was fantastic. Just as important as being immaculately clean (which it was), the home is very well maintained. All furnishings were high quality and in good working condition. Tastefully decorated. Kitchen has modern appliances and was well equipped for cooking at home. Would you believe more than one SHARP chef knife?! We cooked our dinner there every night. Even a coffee grinder if you like to grind your own like we do. Large balcony overlooking the river. Nice place to sit outside and watch the occasional kayaker paddle by. Gas BBQ grill is in good condition and huge. Two extra propane tanks standing by as backups. It was little things like this that I was most impressed with. Wifi was great. No problems streaming music/movies. Beds and bedding were very comfortable. The hot tub was a nice bonus feature. Modern washer/dryer in the laundry room. Location was great for us. About a 15 minute drive to Goat Rock to see the seals. Another 10 minutes to Bodega Head to watch for migrating whales. About 15 minutes in the other direction to get to Armstrong Redwoods State Park. 10 minutes to Guerneville, which has the closest Safeway. In short, the place was perfect. I wish all my Airbnb stays could be this good. Thank you, Peter!

  • Stunning home with redwoods all around. Full kitchen with a gas stove and all the appliances and dishes - a real treat to get to cook well in an airbnb. A fireplace and a giant hot tub. Comfy beds we slept soundly. Even a laundry machine! We were stoked to be in such a cozy home so close to the coast.

  • Our stay was amazing! Everything about this cabin is so serene. The hot tub is perfectly placed and it was just an amazing view. I would wake up early and sit it the solarium and soak up the sun while I drank some tea and read a book. Craig and Shane were very responsive and great hosts! We hope to stay here again.

    Laura2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • The retreat in the woods is extremely relaxing. Shane and Craig were very friendly hosts and made themselves available if needed. The place is a little small, so I would stick to no more than 4 people during a stay.

    Joe2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Shane & Craig’s cabin and grounds have a magical quality to them. The sun room was one of my favorite parts- plenty of natural light, peaceful silence, and lots of stars to gaze at from the hot tub. We’ll definitely be back!

    Michael2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Truly magical. Relax in the lounge chairs under the immense tree canopy and enjoy the bluebirds, hawks, and stars. The house is literally surrounded by trees with huge windows and skylights to enjoy from all sides. There was plenty of firewood left behind to light a fire to warm the house. The bathroom is spa-like overlooking the garden. Definitely recommend and will be back.

    Jessica2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is beautiful! The area is absolutely peaceful and great to enjoy the outdoors. The garden is really special and absolutely beautiful! Shane + Craig were great hosts - very responsive. Would love to come back some day!

**Important Coronavirus Info** Under the current state order, we are legally prohibited from hosting any short term rentals for tourism right now in Sonoma County. We have been informed by Sonoma County supervisors that short term rentals will not be permitted to reopen until phase 3 or 4. (We are currently in phase 2). See more info below in description.
**Coronavirus / Shelter in Place Information** Please also see info above in Summary. Please do not use instant book during this time for reservations. The current order says that we can not host any short term tourism reservations at this time. We are hoping this order will be lifted soon, but we really have no idea at this point when that will happen. According to our our board of Supervisors in Sonoma County, short term rentals and hotels reopening in California are under phase 3 or 4, so it could be awhile. We can only do month to month long term rentals of 31 days or more at this time. (Occupancy taxes are waived after 31 days) If the order is looking like it will be extended at the end of May through June then we will be asking current booked guests to cancel all short term June and early July reservations and we will instead be renting our home on a long term month to month basis. Please inquire if you are looking for a monthly rental in June or July. Located in the quiet and safe residential neighborhood of Graton. Graton is a small town filled with artists and environmentally minded people. We have very friendly neighbors. Some of our immediate neighbors are: metal sculpture artist, florist, pottery artist, textile artist and painter, photographer, animal activist, jewelry maker, montessori teacher, butterfly cultivator, art gallery manager, solar power business owner, shaman, backyard farmers and homesteaders, well you get the idea:)  Please note that the town of Graton is located in a rural setting, but the cottage itself is in a residential neighborhood with neighbors close by. Most of the time the neighborhood is very quiet and we live on a dead end street, but occasionally a neighbor may have a gathering during the day (extremely rare), or someone may be doing some construction or repair work on their house, kids may be playing, or someone may be doing landscaping, etc. In other words, there are direct close neighbors so if you are looking for a remote rural property that is silent with no neighbors this is not it.  Please be aware that we live in a rural area. You may hear crickets or even frogs at night. You may see squirrels jumping in trees next to the house. You may see wild turkeys, quail, deer, bats, hawks, or even an owl here and there either down on the nature trail or just walking down the street. You may see a beautiful red dragonfly drinking from the pool, ladybugs or even a spider or hummingbird on occasion in the backyard. In the spring, summer, or fall you may see some paper wasps (not aggressive unless they are attacked) or bees here and there on plants or flying around in the backyard and in the surrounding neighborhood. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone, we have never been stung the whole time we have lived here and a guest has never been stung either. If you are allergic though, you should stay elsewhere to be safe. We regularly check for paper wasp nests in the summer and get rid of them Immediately but if you are in this west county area you may still see some flying around here and there outside in the summer. They are a part of the natural environment here and serve a purpose, everyone we know in the area has some on their property and we have to learn to coexist with them to some extent in this natural environment. We hardly even notice them anymore, although we do go to great lengths to do everything we can to control them on our property but obviously we can never be totally in control of nature. You may see fake paper mache nests as a wasp deterrent or you may smell some slight peppermint or clove oil in an essential oil diffuser outside as a deterrent as well. If you are someone that needs a 100% controlled environment without any of these "nature" elements, then please find a different property that is more suitable to your needs. Also, please remember to look up and enjoy the stars at night, they are bigger and brighter here! The cottage is located in the heart of it all. Countless wineries / vineyards in the area to go wine tasting. Five minute walk to downtown Graton restaurants such as The Underwood, and Willowood. Five minute walk to the fabulous Bowman Cellars Wine Tasting Room which is three blocks away. Red Car and Dutton and many other great wineries are a quick five minute drive from the cottage. Five minute drive to the Barlow and the town of Sebastopol. Five minutes to Forestville. Ten minutes to Occidental.  Fifteen minute drive to Guerneville. Ten minutes to Russian River. 20 minute drive to the beach (Bodega Bay) 25 minutes to Healdsburg (take the back way, very pretty drive).
  • ******STOP READING REVIEWS******* This is the best AirBnB we have ever stayed at! Just book this place already if it’s not too late. Everything is perfect at the Farm House Oasis. Pillow bar, welcome snacks, high-end appliances and cookware, aromatherapy sprays, super comfy bed, nice TV with easy to Netflix Amazon TV and HBO. The list goes on and on. My wife and I stayed here for a month and wished we extended our stay longer. Trinette & Chris are super friendly and awesome and made out stay amazing!!

    Keith2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Same as all other reviews, Trinette and Chris place was absolutely gorgeous, clean and cozy to stay. Every touch at the Farmhouse Oasis is superb, better than great hotels in the Sonoma area. Communication with Trinette and Chris was great and fast. It was hard to leave the house... Would love to stay for another time. ✨🙏🏻

  • What a find! From the moment we walked in, until the time we left, we felt like we were on vacation at a little private oasis. We loved the open feeling, fresh white decor and greenery throughout the home and back yard. It felt so private and yet we were able to walk to dinner, and get to a trailhead in no time. We cannot wait to come back!

    Lori2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We've stayed in AirBnBs all over the world, and this is one of the most incredibly-styled and appropriately-detailed spaces we've ever stayed in. It was the perfect place to get away and rejuvenate.

    Tanner2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, great communication, thoughtful touches! Loved everything about our stay!

    Jack2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • WOW!! I’m pretty sure no other Airbnb will ever top this one. My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Farmhouse Oasis for four nights and they were 4 of the best with amazing hosts. That attention to detail and all the extra special touches are what makes this B&B the best. It truly felt like we were staying at a luxury resort with the welcome gift, pillow bar, bathrobes, the essential oils and sprays, the tub and soaking salts, the coffee bar, etc etc. it was an experience that we will never forget and I can’t wait to return. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

    Amy2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing space. We wanted a quiet get away and this was just perfect. Close to several restaurants and wineries but not too busy. Just loved all the details and the private backyard and pool was better than I expected. Worth every penny. I would definitely stay here again.

    Lance2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a special special place! From the minute you walk in you immediately feel the clean and relaxing energy. I absolutely loved the furnishing and design. There are so many amenities you can’t find at most Airbnb’s. We had our dog Milo with us and he felt right at home. We are so grateful to Trinette and Chris for all of their recommendations and communicating quickly throughout our stay. We will definitely be back hopefully sooner than later.

  • Great views in this warm and inviting enchantment. A refuge for Toni and Teri’s worldly art collection. The rustic pleasantries were comforting as well as practical. Help my family by not staying here, so the schedule stays open ;)

  • The stay at Villa Vista was a wonderful getaway! We loved that we could hear the waves of the ocean right from our deck. The place was full of natural light and spectacular views from just about any window. Highly recommend!

    Ashley2020-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This home is absolutely beautiful, I’ve never been to an Airbnb that was actually better in person than the pictures! The views are stunning and there are three different patio areas to enjoy looking out at. The inside was super clean with a bright & airy feel. We had everything we needed to cook in the kitchen and the loft is so cozy. It’s location is prime considering it’s close to the river, ocean, and hiking trails. Toni responded quickly and supplied everything we needed! I would definitely stay again when visiting Jenner.

  • Beautiful views, gorgeous interior, very well equipped kitchen, great hiking just a stroll away. Will return!

    Marge2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is an excellent spot for a romantic get-away. Especially if you’re the type who likes to make a meal or two and have wine with an amazing view of the river and ocean. The house was luxurious with all the amenities we could want. It was sparkling clean, tastefully decorated, and easy to get to, on top of being centrally located to walk to the river and headlands for hiking and kayaking. We did our annual couples retreat here and it was great to be in a place with such expansive views while having to be inside. You truly do get what you pay for.

    Kat2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • It's a wonderful apartment with incredible views. Close to great hiking and beautiful outdoors. Very stylish villa, wonderful use of wooden interior. Just perfect!

Mid century modern house in Jenner, with expansive views of the Russian River to the Pacific Ocean. Hike the spectacular Kortum Trail along the Sonoma coast or walk down the street to rent/launch a kayak. Sit back and listen to the ocean. Depending on the season, you might see pelicans swarm, bald eagles nesting, or seals hunting within sight of the deck.
This is a stand alone house on the hillside overlooking the Russian River and the Ocean. There are other rental properties in the area, but you'll be on a quiet and private neighborhood street.
Jenner is a quaint hillside town. You'll meet local residents as well as weekend travelers from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
  • Lily's home is fantastic. Great quiet location off Highway 1, a super comfy window seat, beautiful deck, and a cozy couch next to the woodstove. Everything you might need, and nothing you don't. This was our second visit here, and I hope we'll be back again.

    Scott2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home with thoughtful touches and spectacular views of the water. We've visited the area many times and are partial to this location, near Goat Rock Beach and where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. Dinner at the nearby River's End Restaurant is special, and other Russian River sites are an easy drive. Lily was a wonderful host. Highly recommend staying here. We hope to be back.

    Laura2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic spot. Clean, comfortable, easy access to lots of great beaches. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets and views. Also wonderful star gazing. Sunny, bright peaceful spot

    Heidi2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lily’s cottage was perfect for our short weekend getaway where we were able to go on some hikes by the ocean and relax at the cottage. The no cell-service helped us disconnect from the craziness of the city. The cottage is extremely clean, had modern amenities, and a fireplace that we used both nights.

    Alan2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and clean home with great views of the ocean and mouth of the Russian River. Very responsive host and good recommendations for hiking, restaurants, wineries, etc.

    Jake2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place is beautiful, clean and well appointed. The beds were comfortable and the amenities were great. It has beautiful views and we’d rent it again!

Now you find yourself in an eyrie above the tops of some of the biggest trees. This is a romantic log cabin perched on a ridge and within walking distance of the Old Grove and close to the Coleman Valley scenic route to Bodega Bay. And yet, it is just a short ride down to the attractions of Occidental, Freestone, and just a bit further on, to the Russian River.
The cabin has a dining room with morning sun, a standard kitchen 1970's style, no dishwasher. There is a bedroom/sun room with afternoon sun, which may be closed off from the main room. The bathroom has a shower, but no tub. You can eat alfresco on the terrace or read and rest in the quiet warmth of the greenhouse. The papasan chair is ideal for a snooze in the garden.
  • This little cabin is really something - extremely cozy with a beautiful sun room, a lush green house, and so much interesting and fun decor. It has a very homey, lived in feel in the best way - you can tell there's some history here. It's nestled up in the woods with incredible views, and the 25 minute drive to/from the coast is gorgeous. We only stayed for one night, but next time we'll spend a full weekend at least. Highly recommend for a couple looking for a low-key, cute and romantic weekend.

    Erin2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • very cozy and peaceful and out of the way. Feels almost like a treehouse

    Jada2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem! I really enjoyed my time at Marcia’s place. The cabin is in the woods and the town of Occidental is very small but so cute. There is an organic grocery store and with all the cooking supplies in the cabin, my partner and I were able to whip up a wonderful meal. The stars are very visible and it is so incredibly quiet. Wonderful stay, would stay again without a doubt.

    Mariam2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to relax and get away from everything. Super cozy and wonderful to wake up near the redwoods.

    Lindsay2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Marcia’s place has a lot of character and is in a beautiful secluded location, but isn’t far from a lot of attractions like Bodega Bay or Guerneville. Her succulent garden was a nice touch with a patio I would wake up and have coffee on.

    Kyle2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, peaceful oasis! What a lovely haven Marcia has created here. Great, cozy vibe- just the right place for decompressing and relaxing. Loved the atrium and all the succulents and other plants- great spot for meditation/reading etc! Loved the wooden cabin and the fireplace. So comfortable and retro; love the style. Would definitely recommend this spot!

Blue Heron is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located in the little village of Jenner on the Sonoma coast in California. Spectacular views of the Russian River estuary and Pacific Ocean from every room.
Blue Heron is a two level home where windows and views abound. The main floor living areas include a living room with attached large deck, fully equipped kitchen, and a dining area with barbeque area outside. The large viewing deck has comfortable lounging furniture and a dining table. There is also a bedroom on this level with a queen bed and attached bathroom. Upstairs is a bright sunny family room with games, large screen TV, and gorgeous views; and another deck. There is a master bedroom with queen bed and attached bathroom, and a 2nd queen bedroom with a sink. The bathroom upstairs has an extra door and is accessible to both bedrooms and the family room. The family room sectional pulls out to a queen sofa bed.
Blue Heron is located up the hill in the little village of Jenner overlooking the Russian River and Pacific Ocean. Things we love to do while here: Cook delicious meals and enjoy with friends around the table. Enjoy appetizers and a glass of wine out on the main deck enjoying the views of the river and the sea. Rent kayaks and paddle around Penny Island in the river, and go check out the seals at the estuary. Go walking on North Beach, Goat Rock Beach and Blind Beach. Sit and read a good novel in the cozy family room upstairs. From the deck spend time birdwatching the many local and migratory birds, including many species of raptors. Hike the Armstrong Redwoods and then go to the deli at the Korbel Winery on River Road, share a charcuterie plate and drink a pint of Russian River beer on tap. Hike one of the many coastal trails including Kortum trail, Pomo Canyon and the Jenner Wildlands Preserve. Cycle world class hilly routes up Coleman Valley from the ocean's edge and King Ridge Road near Cazadero.
  • This is a great place. Well appointed, super hosts, incredible views and a fantastic location close to wine country but with the spectacular Russian River and Pacific. Highly recommended.

  • What a wonderful home with a fantastic deck and living space! The kitchen was setup for real cooking and the bedrooms / bathrooms were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. Sal was excellent about sending us info ahead of our visit and generous in offering up early check-in / late check-out since they didn't have guests before or after us. We highly recommend their home for a trip up to the area and would love to visit again.

  • Five of us moms needed a ladies weekend getaway and so we found this gorgeous house im Jenner on the side of the hill right next to the point where the river meets the ocean. It’s a very special location because of the weather, the number of wildlife around you, the feeling of being in a tiny secluded village on a hill, and meeting the kind hearted neighbors. We spent our entire weekend within this quarter of a mile. We visited the river did some kayaking at a shop run by a lovely local. We saw whales, seals, crabs, birds, even a haunted looking house on an island! We ate at Rivers End, and relaxed at the little café on the river. After our day activities we would spend our evenings playing board games and cards in the cozy living room in front of the fireplace. One of the mornings we did a breakfast at home and found all the kitchen utensils we needed right at hand. But hands down the best part of the house are the incredible views from anywhere in the house. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable and we especially loved one of the sinks in one of the bedrooms. The decor is blue, beach themed and everything seemed upgraded and sparkling clean. We highly recommend this place for a wonderful weekend getaway. We are Muslims and do not drink so we did not care for any winery tours but there was still a lot to do, enjoying scenic hikes, beautiful sunsets, the bedroom views, the delicious seafood and desserts, and kayaking and seeing the wildlife and walking along the beach. We were thinking to do a ziplining excursion and a horseback riding tour but glad we kept it simple as we were able to maximize our time in the house.

  • We highly recommend Dana and John’s place. The views are absolutely amazing, the cleanliness was remarkable, the decor is lovely, the king bed is so so comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped, and there were sweet thoughtful touches like sparkling cider and breakfast items in the fridge. Our stay here made my birthday getaway so special. We’re already planning our return. Dana was responsive and easy to communicate with. Of note, there is WiFi but no cell reception so plan accordingly.

  • Dana has a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. It was a perfect place from which to explore the coast and all the local hiking. The deck overlooking the bay was a peaceful place to relax and enjoy some champagne that Dana left us... a wonderful touch.

  • We love visiting this gorgeous home! It’s become a yearly trip that we look forward to every year. The view from the front deck of The Russian River and Pacific Ocean is breathtaking. All around the outside of the home is so many different colors and types of plants you would think you’re in a rain forest. Dana put a lot of special touches to make sure our trip was perfect. She is truly a wonderful hostess.

  • If you have the opportunity to stay at Dana's place, seize it! The pictures don't do this gem justice. It's a comfortable, charming house with gorgeous views, and Dana is an incredibly thoughtful host!

  • This is one of my favorite places I have ever stayed in the whole world. The view is spectacular. The house is full of thoughtful touches, spacious, and extremely clean. I hope to return often.

  • We had a wonderful time in Jenner at Dana's beautiful house. It felt very clean and we felt right at home. Great view in the dining area and on the deck. Back patio area seemed like it would be a nice place to relax as well be we were too interested in the view facing the river and ocean. Thanks again!

  • Dana’s place is absolutely amazing! The view was gorgeous and the home itself was darling! I wish we would have had more time to spend there!

    Gentry2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • View out many windows of river, ocean, and lovingly tended flowers. Also, a dozen or more blooming orchids inside. Roomy, and thoughtfully equipped, modern ikitchen appliances, so comfortable we chose to stay in some of the foggy hours. A place obviously enjoyed by the owners. We would happily return.

Beautifully furnished room with full bathroom. Step outside the room onto a balcony with a spectacular view of the Russian River as it enters the Pacific Ocean. Excellent local dining, close to wine country, Redwoods, kayaking, surfing and beautiful beaches.
  • SPECTACULAR view and fabulously cozy! Superb location close wonderful hiking trails and to local amenities. I spent most of my time (aside from a little hiking and exploring) in the bed staring at the ocean and river, dozing and reading. Did a quick drive through backroad vineyards and got a bottle at Iron Horse. What a wonderful trip!

  • We enjoyed our stay to the fullest! The animals and the space, our hosts were incredibly welcoming and offered excellent advice on things to do in the area! A wonderful and unique experience!

  • Pamela was a wonderful host - her home was absolutely amazing. The view was spectacular and the hot tub under the stars was perfect! Even better than the pictures, definitely did not disappoint.

  • You might think Heaven's Edge means you are just this side of paradise. The unequaled views of the river and ocean would confirm your thoughts. Then the fog rolls in and you realize you are on the blessed side of that edge...and it will be hard to come back. Pamela is very welcoming. We felt at home and enjoyed all that the room had to offer. She has been hosting for over twenty years, and her experience shows in her ease. Looking up at the milky way from the hot tub, adventuring at the beach and the river, resting on the firm and comfortable bed, visiting with the dogs and horses, drinking tea and watching the fog shrouded view change second-by-second, the gorgeous ocean view shower, these are available at Pamela's mountain top paradise.

  • I needed a place to spend my birthday after a stressful stretch. This could not have been a more beautiful restful and special space to do so. This is such a rare gem. If you like animals, ridiculous views, amazing hospitality (she bought me beautiful flowers for my birthday), beautiful room, amenities and true protected California then this is absolutely a place to come stay.

    Erik2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pamela's place is a real gem! We had the most amazing time in this magical place: stylish, sparkling clean, gorgeous river and ocean views, super friendly host, hot tub, starry skies... We want to return one day and I hope it'll happen sooner than later :-) The bottle of wine was a nice touch! And we loved the dogs: the cutest dogs we've ever met! Huge thanks to Pamela for sharing her place with guests and making our special weekend really unforgettable.

Unplug among the peace of giant redwoods. Off Pacific Coast Highway, a sprawling forest of ancient coastal redwoods in Sonoma County — a grove so magnificent it matches the majesty of Muir Woods National Monument — walk among the giants. Whispering of the Redwoods an untouched swath of old-growth trees on privately held lands held in Cazadero — a story that had taken on almost mythical proportions. Perfect for the lover of mother nature who wants to digitally unplug.
Among the peace nestled in the majestic Redwood forest of Sonoma county. Private Cabin with two bedrooms, sleeps five with cots. One bathroom with shower. Makes the perfect weekend getaway or month long retreat.
Among the oldest and widest redwood tree in Sonoma County— The McApin Tree is the titan is, 1,640 years old and 19 feet in diameter — as wide as a two-lane country road — is “vibrant and alive,” the league said, despite a large fire scar running up its trunk. Townsend’s big-eared bats dwell inside the trunk hollowed out by fire and a pellet from a great horned owl lay at the tree’s base. It’s far from the tallest tree in the forest tract, which has more than 300 old-growth redwoods over 250 feet, but the 239-foot McApin tree is twice as old as any of the other giants.
  • Mitchel was kind and helpful. The cabin takes you back to the 60s. Sweet spot, sweet host!

    Sean2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • I almost don't want to leave a good review because it was SO AWESOME that I want it all for ourselves! But these guys deserve it. Mitch was really helpful and it was clear that he takes a lot of pride in the place. It was beyond our imagination and expectations. Such a unique, cozy place. It truly felt like going back in time. Mitch was helpful with having firewood available and everything else you could possibly need to unplug, rewind to another time, and relax. We will be coming back ASAP.

    Stephanie2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • The place is very quiet, located in outstanding redwood forest. Place is decorated with unique artwork and it's well equipped. Mitch was very helpful in giving us local tips and checking us in. The place is highly recommend.

Castle Crag is a place to relax from the bustle of cities and freeways, yet is still within a short driving distance to the finest experiences offered in California. On a protected hillside behind Jenner, this home offers incredible views of the river and the ocean. Excellent stargazing can be viewed from the upper deck (bring binoculars and/or telescope). A short walk to the ocean reveals resplendent wildlife including a seal rookery, blue herons, pelicans, seagulls, cormorants, sandpipers, ospreys, snowy egrets, hummingbirds, and many more. This beach house offers 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom features a Queen bed and en- suite bathroom. The second bedroom offers a Queen bed and the third offers a Queen bed. These bedrooms share a bathroom. The fourth bedroom offers 2 Twin beds, and has a shared bathroom down the hall. If needed, a double futon is in the sunroom. Two decks provide space for a barbecue and a large hot tub. The main living area on the upper floor is a spacious sunny area with connecting living room, sunroom (family room) and fully equipped kitchen. All of these rooms offer incredible views of the Russian River estuary. Located in the quiet and quaint village of Jenner, Castle Crag is less than two hours north of San Francisco. It has magnificent views of the river valley, estuary and river's entrance to the ocean. As the village is somewhat sheltered from ocean breezes, pleasantly warm weather is the typical climate for most of the year, with occasional sea mists. For those interested in visiting wine county, this home is only a 30 minute beautiful drive along the river to the Korbel Champagne vineyards and many other world class wineries. There are excellent restaurants all along the river and the coastline between Bodega and Jenner. Swimming, surfing and sailing are 15 minutes south at Salmon Creek and Bodega (made famous in the Hitchcock movie The Birds.) Excellent hiking trails and horseback riding are only minutes away, as well as canoeing and rafting on the Russian River. TEMPORARY CANCELLATION POLICY: Any reservation for future dates, reserved now through June 1st, will allow penalty-free cancellations up to 14 days prior to the arrival date. Know Before you Book: Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Castle Crag is 10. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time. Parking: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 4 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. Bed Sizes: Master bedroom: Queen bed, Second bedroom: Queen bed, Third bedroom: Queen bed, Fourth bedroom: 2 Twin beds, Sunroom: Double futon Heat Source: Central heat, fireplace (no firewood or kindling provided). A/C: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, the night time temps drop and just opening some windows is usually enough to cool the house. Wireless Internet: Castle Crag has a limited wireless internet service. Because of the rural location, typical services like cable and DSL are not available. Instead, Castle Crag uses Excede Internet, which works well for email, text messaging and internet browsing, but is not well-suited for streaming or other internet uses that consume large amounts of data. For a long time Castle Crag was unable to provide any internet service, so we are very pleased to offer guests this option and welcome you to use the internet during your stay. Location: Jenner, walking distance to the Russian River, Pacific Ocean, shops and restaurants Sonoma County TOT #: 2100
Castle Crag is a 10 minute walk from the mouth of the Russian River. Also within walking distance are two of our favorites: Cafe Aquatica, a great coffee shop, and River's End, a high-end seafood restaurant.
  • Castle Crag was the perfect place for our group of eight women to spend our yearly retreat. The view of the river and ocean from the house, patio, and hot tub was fantastic. The house is surrounded with lush greenery which makes it a bit magical. Having both a sitting room and a living room allowed us to spread out when we wanted to and to come together and socialize at other times. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and having three bathrooms was a plus. Care should be taken turning into the driveway. It is a rather sharp turn. Also, the uneven brick steps up to the front door require care as well. We will definitely return.

  • Great place to spend time with friends! Beautiful and peaceful

    Parth2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view and great access to the ocean, to the redwoods, and to the river. I've stayed here twice with small groups of friends and had a great time both trips. If you're coming from out of town, one tip would be to stock up on food before getting to Jenner, as the main general store in town doesn't have that much beyond basics.

    Joe2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great home for a big group, with a magnificent group! Loved watching the sunrise burn off the morning fog over the river valley in the morning, getting cozy by the fire in the evenings and enjoying the stars from the hot tub at night! Well stocked kitchen allowed for cooking big group meals, comfortable beds provided restful sleep and all around a great experience. Bring your own shower supplies!

    Danielle2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great views and lots of space.

    Jennifer2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend. The views are spectacular. We spent a lot of time on the deck as the weather was wonderful, even though it was early October. We used the house for a family event that involved 7 adults and it was perfect for us. There is a very comfortable family room with chairs and sofa around a low table, perfect for board games. A large table in the kitchen easily accommodated us. The kitchen is well-appointed with all the cookware we could need. Nice dishes, glasses and cutlery. I had brought extra paper towels and toilet paper, but we didn't need it as the house was well-stocked. Plenty of bedding and the beds are very comfortable. It's a short drive to Goat Beach. If you have time, it's a lovely drive down Rt1 to Bodega Bay where there is a lovely walk along the cliffs. River Homes was excellent about answering all my questions quickly and I would be happy to rent this or any of their homes again.

  • Good place everything as described, will come again!!

    Siddharth2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Castle Crag has plenty of room for a big family and is wonderfully located near beach AND river fun. The house is clean and comfy. We occupied all bedrooms and ALL were well appointed. I have elderly parents and many of the homes along the river have LOTS of stairs. While CC does have some, they are manageable. Everything worked as advertised and we grilled on the deck every night, enjoying the amazing views. We had great communication from the property manager. Thank you for a wonderful family reunion location!

This is paradise. Come stay in our cozy, private studio cabin set in a beautiful meadow in the heart of the Russian River Valley. The meadow borders the Russian River where we have a large, private beach for your enjoyment. We also provide kayaks for you to use to explore the river and experience your own national geographic moment. The cabin has all the amenities for cooking your own meals plus outdoor seating and dining complete with a charcoal barbecue for grilling a gourmet treat.
This is a snug little place and we've done our best to provide enough storage for your needs. There is no washer or dryer but if you plan on a long stay there is a laundromat located ten minutes away in Guerneville. Also, while the cabin is in located in a private meadow, we have cranky neighbors who like their privacy about 100 yards to the east and sound travels at night so we ask our guests to not play loud music or be noisy, particularly at night.
The cabin is approximately 10 minutes away from the coast. And don't miss the "Gold Coast" coffee and pastry shop or The Duncans Mills General store located 5 minutes to the west.
  • This cozy, little gem was the perfect getaway for us. Thank you for letting us enjoy your meadow, private beach entrance to the Russian River, community garden and cute little cabin. Thank you for also being so attentive and helpful. We cannot thank you enough for offering us a late check out and cannot wait to return! Thanks again!

  • We spent great time in the cabin! Clean and cosy. Thank you Jesse!

    Anton2020-04-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Jesse's place celebrating a birthday weekend. The cabin is set in the corner of a beautiful meadow. When you sit on the porch you see the farm and mountain ridge tree line in the background. The river is a small walk away and has completely private access. The inclusion of kayaks adds value to the listing. The charcoal BBQ had all the supplies to allow us to cook dinner. What makes this cabin very special is its location. Prior to arriving we picked up oysters and cheese from Bodega/Tomales Bay. The cabin provides a relaxing space to enjoy with another. You should know before you come that (as listed) this is a cabin studio. The sleeping space is a leather futon which is comfortable but tight for two people. For the small space within the walls, they have done a great job making it a functional.

    Vishan2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little place. This is more of an "outdoors" place. Plenty of place to roam and enjoy and great access to the river. It is small (but very functional) and the sofa bed is the only bed, so take that into account.

    Chris2020-03-15T00:00:00Z

A bird watcher's paradise! This home, owned by an artist is called "Jenner View".... It is a lovely one bedroom country house. There is a queen-size bed in the Master Bedroom, and a queen-size fold out sofa-bed in the living room. The home has one bathroom with a shower. The kitchen has new recycled beach-glass counters, sink and ceramic cook top. It is a utilitarian country kitchen with an under-counter size refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven (no standard oven). All the kitchen-ware and picnic supplies you need are available. A wood stove stocked with firewood is an excellent way to heat the house and take the chill off after a day of kayaking or hiking.
Small town feel, Cafe Aquatica, River's End Restaurant and lots of nature in Jenner-by-the-Sea. An incredible expanse of nature as the Russian River meets the Pacific. A bird-watcher's paradise where lots of sea and river mammals abound.

  • This cottage is nestled on the hillside overlooking the ocean and the view is just spectacular. The deck is very spacious yet cozy and the landscaping is also very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The shower is always nice although small (good water pressure). I loved that we could walk to the cafe/beach from the cottage. It is quite a steep hill up to the cottage so I suggest bringing some kind of SUV, but a small one because the driveway is a bit small. Jenner was so much fun I can't wait to go back!!

    Andrea2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about Michelle's place, from the beautiful views, to the privacy and quiet, to the thoughtful gift basket, to the beautiful artwork and interior decorations. It was truly a magical visit.

  • Michelle's cottage in Jenner is a bit quirky (in a good way) and has lovely views of the river and ocean. It can be cool at the ocean so pack accordingly. Comfortable bed and large DVD collection to choose from for movies. Very gracious and responsive host!

Woodland creekside cottage in the West Sonoma County. Surrounded by Redwood and Oak trees and sounds of the creek. 4.5 miles to downtown Sebastopol, 15 mins to the Beach, 5 mins to the Freestone Bakery. The perfect little cottage for a weekend getaway to go wine tasting, cycling, hiking, going to the ocean, or just staying in.
  • We stayed in this cabin for one week. The cabin is located in a very quiet forest area not far from the Sonoma Coastline and the cute town of Sebastapol. The cabin has everything you need for a short stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was bright, the internet was great and there is enough cookware to prepare most meals. The cabin is quite rural so not much is nearby, but all the conveniences needed (market, restaurant and laundry) are all available in Sebastapol which is about 5 minutes away by car. The cabin has a nice back porch to sit on and enjoy some time in with the redwoods. The neighbors were friendly and the cats will stop by to check up on you!

  • Ilene and Don's home is a magical oasis. The home was built by the two of them and is clearly a labor of love. The house is spacious and serene, as is the land on which it is built. By day, the view out the front of the house is a vista of the Pacific ocean and the Jenner headlands. By night, the view on a clear night is a ceiling of constellations, which you can enjoy from the hot tub. Ilene and Don are amazing hosts: fast to respond, thoughtful attention to detail (we arrived to a lovely bouquet of daffodils, and attending to all of our questions and needs. They define what it means to be an Airbnb host.

The farmhouse has absolutely everything you could ask for and more - the views, the deck, the land, the amazing kitchen - so awesome if you're into cooking, the bedrooms are well appointed and super comfortable, and the place is amazing. I can't imagine wanting anything different - I can't wait to go back with more friends and show this - it's probably the best Airbnb I've rented yet.

  • Don and Ilene were wonderful hosts. We ran a little late getting in and Don was at the house waiting for us to get us acclimated. We spent 3 days with our family (7 of us) and the home left us for want of nothing. It was warmly decorated, beds were very comfortable and the house was clean and updated. We did day trips around the area, which has much to offer, and enjoyed the farmhouse and our time together with privacy and solace in the afternoon and into the evenings. We highly recommend evening hot-tubbing under the stars during any stay. Don was also kind enough to reach out and let us know of the forecasted meteor shower on one night that we were lucky enough to enjoy from the hot tub. If the fog rolls in...and the moon is full.. it feels like you are siting in the tub and floating on the clouds. There is no cell service in the area which is a great bonus when you have teenagers, but the house is equipped with wi-fi so you have it if you need it. FYI - there is no grocery store to speak of in the area so best to stock up on your way in. If you are looking for a great place for a family retreat to spend time together, enjoy nature and take in the fresh air with views of the Pacific, then the Japanese farmhouse in the clouds is a great place to spend your time.

  • If you find peace in both the mountains and the ocean, then this is the place for you! Beautiful views of the ocean in such a serene setting. The house offers many cozy spaces to relax and enjoy the views, as well as amazing architecture and thoughtfully designed amenities. Can’t wait to go back!

  • Love this place! This is the second time I've stayed here and I enjoyed it very much both times. It's clean, comfortable and the view is wonderful. The location is great for getting away while still being close to beaches and hiking trails. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some peace and quiet.

  • This place is stunning and the location is perfect! I would definitely recommend it. Just a heads up though, the WiFi that is provided is very minimal (I couldn’t even get to my email) and there is no cell phone service. So be prepared to unplug and enjoy.

    Jenn2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place is beautifully situated between Bodega Bay and Jenner, with wonderful hiking right across Rt. 1 all along the bluff and with access to the long beach below. The sun room was a wonderful place to read and have a drink at sunset. There is cozy furniture, a comfortable bed. Loved their pellet stove, available reading selections and music. Easy to go into Bodega Bay or Jenner for dinner. This is a very good value stay for the area. Thank you!

  • this is an amazing getaway home for a couple. there is one bedroom and a large common area. Others can sleep in the common area using the 2 pull out couches but then the common area is not really functional for anyone else when those couches are pulled out. The bathroom is located in the one bedroom so everyone has to go through the bedroom in order to use it. The fireplace is great, the views are spectacular and it gets very warm using the heating system. everything inside is of excellent quality that people would buy for them selves rather than an Airbnb listing, which, was quite refreshing. Highly recommend

  • Barbara was an great host! She responded quickly to my emails and offered great suggestions for places in the area. The in-law suite was just lovely! As cozy and comfortable as can be!!Infact, I wish I could have taken the bed and pillows home with me. Felt like I was sleeping on a cloud! All the wonderful touches, like a mini champagne, coffee/tea, the robes and slippers..I felt like I was at a hotel but surrounded by the comforts of home! They have a lovely back yard area with a fire pit that sadly we couldn’t enjoy because of the weather...but we will definitely be back. Great shops and restaurants in Sebastapol in the Barstow and if you choose not to drive, we got a Lyft into town and its about a 15-20 mn ride. Just note that it also took the lyft about 20 minutes to reach the house, so plan ahead. All around cozy, comfortable, quiet and relaxing stay! Thank you Barbara and hope to book with you again soon!!

  • Barbara's place is so cute and cozy! We stayed in the winter and the indoor electric fireplace was so nice. Can imagine it being lovely in the summertime with the large back courtyard and fire pit right outside the door. Everything was clean and the coffee, tea and champagne were lovely touches! Would definitely stay again.

  • Cottage 2 is super cute! The view from the bed and the hot tub can’t be beat!!! It’s a great location, close to the downtown area, super close to the river yet tucked away so you feel private!!!! Loved this little cottage. Steve as a host went above and beyond our entire stay!!!! He brought us a 2 person kayak from another location, cleaned out the hot tub so it was perfect clean for us and was very responsive with my questions! Thank you!!!!

    Abby2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at Meadowview Cottage #2 to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was everything we were looking for! Stephen and Shannon were incredibly thoughtful and treated us to wonderful hospitality and treats! We had a wonderful stay at the cottage. We loved the peaceful setting and sitting in the tub amidst nature was the treat we were looking for. The cottage itself was very cute and had all the amenities to make it a comfortable stay, including an outdoor deck with plenty of space and seating to hang out. Thank you to the wonderful hosts for everything!

    Sarah2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage (#2) is far enough from the road that you don't notice at all. The space is very cozy and the deck and hot tub were delightful - private, woodsy, and with a lovely view over a meadow and across the river. Very easy to get to Guerneville/Armstrong Readwoods and the Coast. Stephen was very responsive and check-in couldn't have been easier. We'd come back for sure.

    Jasper2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I mean it’s pretty much as close to the Monte Rio beach as you can get. Incredible location, dog friendly, hot tub. What more could you ask for?

  • What a cozy location! I unfortunately did not catch the best weather while I was there but this is a very comfortable place to stay. • This spot by the beach was just what we expected and more. Perfect location for bike rides and walks, if that’s what you like, and a drive to town is just minutes away. The only downside is spotty WIFI so maybe if you have work to do, not the best spot. Brook had a very thoughtful set up and we had a very comfortable stay! Would recommend to a friend and would stay again!

    Autumn2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful walk on the nearby beach; delicious dinner in Bodega Bay; peaceful morning coffee on the deck -- we had a great time at Carlo's place!

    Timothy2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time at the Studio! The place was clean, tidy, and small without feeling cramped. Loved how relaxing it was, and how close it was to the beach. Having the coffee maker was really great, too. It was a little too cold to enjoy the outside porch, but hopefully we’ll be able to return to the area when it’s warmer.

    Erica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location - you can walk across the street to amazing Schoolhouse Beach to enjoy the sunset or tidepools. Relaxing, cozy, cute. A wonderful spot!

    Jason2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect little getaway, as described and shown. The clawfoot tub and bathroom were extra nice, looking out on the hills. Just be careful when you open the door in the morning or you might scare off the deer like I did! :)

  • Stayed two nights and had a lovely time visiting this area for the first time. Great location, beautiful views of the ocean, and walking distance to the lookouts / beaches. Brook was responsive and gave clear expectations on check in. Listing was also accurate as to what to expect. I was concerned it'd be too cold for me but the portable heater kept me warm. I would stay here again.

  • My boyfriend and I stopped here for a one-night stay on our way down the coast. Very cute place with thoughtful touches. It was very easy communicating with the host and simple check-in process. My home is in the country on 6 redwood acres with a private guest bedroom and an adjoining large private bathroom with a tub and shower. The queen size bed is comfortable. The living room and deck areas are available to relax in with a great view of the redwoods. All my neighbors are out of sight and quiet.
You can't miss the entry because there are stacks of milled lumber drying alongside the driveway. You will be staying in the redwoods among ancient trees in a craftsman designed home. Enjoy your cozy bedroom and a spacious bathroom with a claw foot tub and separate shower. In my country house it takes some time for the hot water to reach the faucet so please be patient.
Near my home you will find excellent early morning coffee shops in Bodega, Bodega Bay, and Occidental. Bodega is about 3 miles from my house and Bodega Bay and the Pacific coast is about 9 miles. Occidental, with its many restaurants and gift shops, is 4 miles away. Our west Sonoma county region is renowned for its ancient redwoods, beautiful coast and beaches, picturesque wine country, art galleries, antique stores, and gift shops, as well as delicious restaurants. You can hike, bike, fish, surf, kayak, bird or whale watch, or relax on the beach. Or go wine tasting! If youre looking for a zip line adventure, Sonoma Canopy Tours is just down the road from Occidental. Or continue north on Bohemian Highway to reach Monte Rio and the Russian River. Depending on your interests I'll do my best to point you in the appropriate direction.
  • Ralph is a very considerate host and the accommodation in the redwoods is very peaceful

    Geoff2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to Ralph's place because of illness, but Ralph was gracious enough to provide me a partial refund even when he didn't have to. Thanks Ralph, I really appreciate it!

    Ashish2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning facility, in the middle of a Redwood forest off the beaten track. A great base for the coast and for wonderful places like Armstrong Woods.

    Andy2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice private room hiding inside woods. The only advice I would give is that you have to shower REAAALLY quickly. Other than that, everything’s wonderful. Ralph is super nice and even brought us take-out for dinner.

    Haruka2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet setting nestled in the forest. Ralph is a very interesting host. He provided us with lots of local knowledge. It was a great place for us to spend two nights while exploring the area.

    Nancy2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Imagine waking up to insanely tall redwood trees around you, in a home built by an architect. That’s exactly what Ralph’s place is. My husband and I had a lovely time exploring his forest property in the morning after arriving late the previous night, which is quite daunting in the dark if you’re not a good driver by the way - his place is deep in. But because of that, we enjoyed one of the most peaceful evenings we’ve had on our West Coast road trip. The room: The water takes a little while to heat up and the electricity went out in some plugs in the morning. This is to be expected in country houses. The space itself was beautifully furnished, and Ralph provided a space heater and extra blanket to ward off the cold. The bed was really comfortable. We had no complaints!

  • Lovely setting right on the creek and a casual stroll away from the ocean. No wifi or cell reception, which is amazing, but do note that. A bit of a drafty place with no oven and a gas fireplace we couldn't seem to activate. Price felt a little steep for what it is, but we had a truly relaxing, star-filled, and quiet time. Great, giant couch.

  • The perfect couples' getaway cottage. It rained our entire trip and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Well equipped kitchen, massive sofa that makes you feel like you're wrapped in a blanket, fireplace, very comfortable bed. Being on the river watching all kinds of birds and waterfowl with the shore of the ocean in the background was mesmerizing. We went to The Barlow in Sebastopol, grabbed some great local ingredients and enjoyed cooking at the house with the rain hitting the rooftop. Hated to leave. We brought our two elderly dogs with us...they didn't seem to want to leave either.

  • Very cozy home in a beautiful waterfront location. One thing to keep in mind when preparing to visit this property. We couldn’t find any instructions on how to navigate the properties amenities . There’s no cell signal available in the local area, the property ad describes no WiFi, and the land line on the property blocks long distance calls. This was an issue when we needed to contact the property managers with questions about navigating the home’s amenities. After learning in how to navigate the appliances and amenities we had a wonderful stay!

  • This little house is such a gem! My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary/babymoon and it was perfect for the two of us. While you're only a few minutes from the restaurants and shops of Bodega Bay, this house feels like a true retreat. The deck overlooking the creek is a perfect place to relax and read a book, practice yoga or dine while listening to the ocean and taking in the scenery. It was exactly what we were looking for to escape from the city and experience the healing quality of the sea. We will definitely be back and we highly recommend this place.

  • Quaint and charming bungalow along the creek...very romantic and peaceful. An added bonus was the option to check out late on Sunday for an additional fee - made it feel like we gained an entire extra day!

    Stacie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great location! Easy access to the ocean, the creekside location is very peaceful.

  • This lovely little home is in a great location- quiet with great ocean views and beach access. Vacasa was very responsive and helpful. We’ll be back for sure!

  • Eury and Ian were kind and welcoming hosts of an incredible property. This is a real hidden gem. The lodging is unique in rustic style with exposed wood beams and concrete speckled with quirky artwork and warm decor. We loved the open floor plan and there was plenty of space, sleeping surfaces, and blankets for our large group. The picnic table outside that overlooks their horse stables and the wooded canyon surrounding the property was a magical touch for our meals. Only ten minutes from Occidental and 20 from Bodega Bay, we had a great time exploring these charming towns. I can't wait to come back and stay longer!

  • I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Comfortably sleeps 5, plenty of space, nestled in the hills, with a hot tub and super clean and gorgeous space. One of my favorite Airbnbs I’ve stayed in!

    Nick2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Ian and Eury's place is magical. It is in a beautiful setting, the animals are friendly and the area is very picturesque. Only thing to note is that you are living under the hosts and while they are super nice the sound isolation is not the best.

    Kartik2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely Hot Tub under the stars, and full size kitchen!

    Luke2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, large and kid-friendly (lots of toys and our daughter loved all the animals). Ian and Eury were great, check in was easy and the location was near a nice hike and a few minutes outside of Occidental with some great food. We really enjoyed a relaxing, rejuvenating time in the country. Also, bring cash if you want delicious scones/baked goods nearby! Two minor things to note: the drive at the end is gravel/dirt and steep; also the master bed is on the firm side if you're sensitive to that. In any case, we really enjoyed our stay and would 100% stay again!

    Nick2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. The space was perfect for us with two boys, ages 4 and 5, who loved roaming around outside climbing trees, watching the animals, and dipping in the hot tub; there was also a nice collection of toys and games, including a large wooden Brio-style train set that kept the boys busy. The flat is very spacious and comfortable and we all slept great. Everything was very clean and welcoming. The views of the trees and stars were excellent, and you don't have to go far from the property to find great hiking trails and huge redwoods; it's also not far to the coast as well.

    Susan2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • A gem for a city escape. Went up for one night for a quiet retreat with a couple of friends. Took a lovely little walk, enjoyed the hot tub under the stars and cooked a meal in the super cool farm house kitchen.

    Emily2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a great place! We had just wrapped up a pretty busy month and needed a few days to recharge. The entire space is perfect for much needed down time. Plenty of comfy space to read and the property begs to be explored. We all slept great and the included coffee was a blessing int he morning. We'll be back for sure!

Excellent restaurants nearby in Guerneville and Occidental. Fully equipped upstairs kitchen plus propane BBQ on deck. Cedar hot tub on lower deck with views of redwoods.
Monte Rio is a historic and diverse Russian River vacation town with arguably the best beaches on the river with kayak and other floatable rentals. Close to Jenner and Sonoma Coast beaches. 10 minutes from Occidental on the Bohemian Highway or Guerneville on River Road.
  • Absolutely fantastic place. Chad was bey available for any and all questions and assistance. And very accommodating to all of our interests. The property; AMAZING. So spacious, and fun. The kitchen fantastically appointed and out side grill was great. Very private, very lovely for a romantic get away. And the natural wood hot tub... out of this world. A great place to rejuvenate and relax.

    Colton2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Nice house with great decks. Highly recommend stopping in Duncan Mills for coffee on the way to Kortum Trail along the coast. Also enjoyed Armstrong redwood forest, all a fairly short drive away.

  • We had a great stay here. It’s perfect for two couples to get away and unplug for a few days.

    Audrey2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Convenient location but does not have direct river access , located on shady side of the mountain and is nestled in beautiful redwoods. Hot tub a plus! It was chilly at night but space heaters helped. Walking distance to convenience store.

    Calvin2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night at the accommodation. The communication was great with lots of helpful info. The hot tub is amazing and a great way to relax our doors. This was a great find and we enjoyed our short stay. We were two couples and the layout worked really well. The only thing I would say is being big guys the beds are smaller than we are used to.

    Lee And Jo2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what we had hoped for. Something that is great to note, this place is like two perfect little one bedroom apartments. The setup is almost identical upstairs and downstairs with two high end bathrooms with super awesome showers and beds and fridges on separate floors for nice privacy, so for two couples it would be amazing. We just used the upstairs portion to conserve water and heat. The view was perfect, it had everything we needed to decompress, and we are already planning our next trip back. 5 stars across the board!!!

  • This is a perfect place to stay - just book it!

    Kirk2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic cabin in the woods. You can't really beat a place like this. We loved the knotty pine on the interior and rough-hewn on the exterior. Situated on a steep hill among giant redwoods overlooking a bridge and the river. Comfortable beds. Remodeled bathroom, kitchen, everything. Incredible hot-tub made of wood. I enjoyed waking up to the sight of fog blanketing the Russian River. Good price, too. JUST BOOK IT ALREADY.

This rustic yet luxurious cabin is the perfect place to unplug. Walk through the woods, relax by a fire, and enjoy the food and wine of the Russian River Valley. 10 minutes from the beach. Minutes from Occidental, Graton, Forestville, and Guerneville. Main House has one bedroom, an upstairs with two twin beds, one bath, and is open loft style. 5 acres, trampoline. High-speed Internet. AT+T doesn't get great cell service. Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile do.
The house and cottage are on 5 acres of redwoods. The house is a one-of-a-kind cabin with an incredible fireplace and great stonework. Our family has made some of our greatest memories sitting by the fire, listening to and playing music, and enjoying each other's company.
The Russian River Valley is a beautiful area with lots of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farms, cheese shops, oyster farms, beaches (ocean and river), hikes, and even canopy tours. Everything is within 10-30 minutes by car.
  • Luke's cabin was one of the best places we have ever stayed. There are some many unexpected touches that really made our stay so special. We loved the redwood trees, bath tub, record selection, fireplace, solitude. The kids loved their own little cabin, the trampoline, building forts in the forest, the kids DVD selection and board games. Luke was incredibly kind and quick to respond to any questions we had. We created some lasting memories here, already planning our next trip to this special cabin.

    Baldemar2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I had a great stay at this gorgeous cabin. The house is beautifully decorated, carefully considered and well-equipped for guests. It is a perfect location for exploring the coast, vineyards, and several small towns nearby, but equally perfect for staying put! We enjoyed sitting by the fire, being surrounded by redwoods out every window. Luke offered great tips for exploring the area and very clear instructions regarding the house. 10/10!

  • This cabin and whole property is truly a dream!! Don't hesitate to stay here. Pulling up the driveway to the cabin, I could immediately tell that this was a special place. Walking into the cabin itself - I was blown away by the amazing kitchen, the cozy living room with a fire place and record player (with great vinyl collection), and the comfy bed! Having breakfast on the deck in the morning was the perfect start to the day. The cute town of Occidental is amazing too and Luke provides wonderful recommendations. Bodega Bay, Sebastopol, and lots of other great towns nearby. It was a dreamy stay in your very own redwood forest with access to so many great adventures in the surrounding areas.

  • Sooooooo good! Great stay!

    Jonathan2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at this cozy cabin so much, and already want to plan another trip. It truly feels like a home away from home. Spacious, adorable, and serene. The perfect spot to un-plug and relax. Happy to report that we're now competitive experts in both Clue and Mancala, thanks to the cabin's board game collection. The cabin is located in a giant redwood forest in between Bodega and Occidental, so you can experience both towns in a long weekend. We went gourmet mushroom foraging at Camp Meeker, made tons of s'mores at the huge indoor fireplace, and I even took a bubble bath in that Pinterest-worthy tub! So glad that this house is on AirBnb!!

  • Still my favorite cabin of all time

    Kim2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved my time at Luke's place. I booked this house for a personal artistic retreat and it was truly the very best place for this sort of getaway. The location is idyllic; tucked into the trees with gorgeous nature all around. Even with the ocean so close I found it hard to leave the house because I wanted to soak up every moment there. I spent the days making art on the front porch and the evenings either soaking in the magical tub or sitting in front of the fireplace. Luke was quick to respond to any questions that I had. I highly recommend Luke's place for a reset from busy, city life.

  • We absolutely loved our experience at the cabin. Very special experience for us. This is perfect for a weekend getaway from the city. Luke was very responsive when we had any questions.
