Very satisfied with this homestay experience, Harry's house is so excellent, two floors above and below, the rest and leisure space is separated, equipped with projection and sound, and the lighting design in the house is also very cozy. The house itself is a very traditional Japanese house with a refined little yard, at the same time it is conveniently equipped with a very modern home appliance system. Harry is very nice, he came to the bus station to pick us up, and also recommended very authentic daily materials, and I will come to Kyoto again next time I come to Kyoto!

Kyoto Station Umekoji Machiya Mitsuishi★京町家の宿「三石」

ChrisRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Fantastic location a short walk from train but in a quiet residential neighborhood. Relatively spacious place with lovely design. (Caution for those with mobility issues: the stairs to second floor are steep.) Had toys that our granddaughter enjoyed, a big dining table that worked well for seven us to sit together to eat, talk or play games. Strong WiFi. Do bring eyeshades as the inside Exit signs are fairly bright at night. Host is responsive and helpful. Gave good recommendations: an awesome ramen place and bakery just a couple of minutes’ walk away, a public onsen a few minutes the other direction. Railway museum and a big playground are just a few minutes’ walk away. Highly recommend.

Oyado Aburari, the closest to Kansai Airport, an inn of Japanese merchants full of Japanese atmosphere (same price for up to 3 people)

NickRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We stayed with five friends for two nights at Mino’s house before flying out of Japan, thanks to its proximity to Kansai International Airport. If we had known how amazing the stay would be and how kind Mino and his wife were, we definitely would have stayed longer. The house is a beautifully preserved traditional Japanese home with tatami mats and low doorways—which was a funy challenge for close to 200 cm tall Dutch guys (some head bumps happend), but it added to the charm! It was spotless and had the most comfortable beds and futons we experienced during our 3-week trip. The location is great—restaurants nearby, a train station just 5 minutes away, and easy access to central Osaka in under 30 minutes. A large seaside outlet mall with Japanese and Western brands is just one stop away and highly recommended. Mino and his wife were wonderful hosts—friendly, helpful, and full of great local tips. Thanks again, Mino—we truly enjoyed our stay!

Family Friendly Private Home, No Airbnb Fee

GregRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
My wife and I have stayed at this house a number of times now, and have booked another stay in 6 months time. The house is always clean, comfortable and spacious ( for 2 people, remembering this is Japan ). The location is handy to a supermarket, restaurants and cafes as well as being a 10 minute walk to Juso Hankyu train station, which services Kyoto and Kobe, as well as being a 5 minute ride to the middle of Osaka. All in all it is a great place to stay if you want to explore the Kansai Region.

MacRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
An amazing stay in the Arashiyama area of Kyoto. The home itself was spacious and lovely, as described. Located right in the thick of this part of Kyoto we were right next to the money park, bamboo forest, and amazing temples. The area was very walkable with the bustling markets and shops just across the bridge and the train station within a stones through for a quick 30 minute ride into Kyoto proper. Would definitely encourage those looking for an authentic Kyoto experience to stay here!

This beautiful home is situated in a peaceful and cute neighbourhood. We could sleep with open windows. The alleys and little shops are worthwhile exploring. The walls are thin but the neighbourhood is very quiet. It is a short walk from the Nakazakicho metro station which gets you everywhere you need to go.
