Sapphire Cottage - sleeps 6, on 5 acres with canal

NinaRating, 5 stars6 days ago
Sapphire Cottage is the perfect getaway, tucked back off a quiet road , and an 20 minute drive to Mount Dora, making it both peaceful and accessible to town. A canal runs behind the property and there are 2 kayaks you can use if you’re feeling adventurous, if not, you can just hang out and watch the happy hens roam the property or pet the goats in their enclosure. The cottage is really quite lovely, very comfortable, modern yet cozy feeling at the same time. Miriam and Ismael obviously put a lot of thought into its design and decor. The rooms are spacious, the cottage is spotless, and everything works as it should. Miriam and Ismael are the perfect hosts, available yet unobtrusive. I would go back in a heartbeat, and can recommend it without hesitation.

This was a perfect place to stay for a weekend . Lawrence was an awesome host (kind , knowledgeable and helpful) . He offered some great dinner recommendations and had snacks and wine for us when we got there. The cottage was clean , cozy, the bed was comfortable, we were close to downtown - basically everything was perfect! We will definitely be back !

1920's Boho Bungalow | Walk+Bike to Downtown

EthanRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Place was extremely nice. Guys if you looking for the place that your Wife will go "ahhh" it's so cute at every corner, this is your place. Lady's if you want the place that your guy will say is dope and has a place for them out back, you found it. Got kids, they have a nice size yard, board games, and pacman outside. Need coffee for the morning, or hot chocolate and popcorn at night, your coved here. Place was amazing, and I will definitely stay again. FYI, if you are older or have mobility issues, I would not recommend. Stairs out front are hard to get up, and the tub/shower is very tall and hard to get in and out.

Mount Dora Liberty Cottage!

DanielleRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had a great time at this cottage. The house was very comfortable and in a great location. On the second day we were there, we found out about Freebee, those cute little electric carts that ferry people around the mt dora historical area for FREE! We just walked for 30 seconds over to the public parking lot next to eden abbey and got picked up and dropped off there, using the app. And then we didn't have to sweat our butts off walking into and out of Mt Dora Historic area (LOL).

Porter's Porch

RachelRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Probably the best Airbnb experience I’ve had! The home is well appointed and so homey. I felt like I was at a family members home! The decor gives a vintage feel but not in an old or stale way. The attention to detail in the decor was great! Although there was a lot of decor it was spotless! Plenty of dishes, utensils and tools in the kitchen. Loads of quality towels! My favorite part were the screened porches. We were there for just a short time but I enjoyed coffee on the front porch in the mornings. There is also a cute game room - we didn’t get to use it but would have if we had had more time. I travel to the area once or twice each year and I hope to grab this place next time!

Your guide to Mount Dora

All About Mount Dora

Located on the shore of Lake Dora in Central Florida just a 40-minute drive from Orlando, Mount Dora draws antique and art lovers, history buffs, and outdoor enthusiasts looking to clock some time on the lake. There are 4,500 acres of water to explore here, and if you don’t have your own boat, you can rent one from the local marina. You can also wander down to Palm Island Park, a picturesque nature reserve lined with native trees. A tranquil boardwalk winds through the forest before reaching the water’s edge, and you may even spot a gator relaxing along the shoreline.

Founded in the 1870s, Mount Dora really began to develop in the 1920s, and you’ll see an array of historic homes here. The town also has a vibrant art scene, including the Modernism Museum, which hosts exhibits on art and design as well as the craftsmanship of functional objects.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Mount Dora

Mount Dora is a great place to visit all year round. Travelers flock here in the winter to enjoy the mild Florida temperatures and clear, dry days — something to keep in mind when booking your Mount Dora vacation rentals. The city hosts the Mount Dora Arts Festival in February and showcases the work of hundreds of artists, sculptors, photographers, and crafters from around the country.

Summers are hot and humid, with regular thunderstorms. Note that late summer and early fall are hurricane season on the Atlantic Coast, so check the weather reports if you’re traveling during this time. Summer heat often lasts through September here, but by October you may need an extra layer over those all-season shorts. Spring is mild, a great time to check out the Mount Dora Spring Festival of Arts and Crafts.
