Adirondack-style log home and located on the Ausable River with mountain views of Whiteface! Enjoy the Adirondacks based out of this perfect log chalet with rustic charm, views, and peacefulness, located a minute away from Wilmington town center and 5 minutes away from Whiteface Mt Olympic ski area! This log home of 1400 sq. ft features beautiful real, round log exterior walls, cedar and pine ceilings, hardwood floors, and large log beams, with a huge 12'x24' ft exterior deck overlooking the Ausable River, and a master bedroom balcony over cedar logs, with direct views of Whiteface Mt and the Wilmingon Range. This new log home was lovingly built in 2013 by life-long Adirondack resident and owner and Johnathan Esper, with meticulous attention to log design born from the owner's fond memories of growing up in a log home. The log house is built almost over the Ausable River, set amid some towering white pines on the steep river bank, at the end of a 300ft driveway with the neighbors' houses set well away along the roadside frontage. The sounds of the West Branch of the Ausable River, or the wind through the pines from atop the cedar balcony, are the only thing one hears from the house, despite being located most conveniently only 30 seconds to the center of the small town of Wilmington and it's various shops. Exterior sofit lights cast spellbinding shadow patterns of the round log textures and cedar shake gables, making twilight a wonderful time to come home. The first floor of the house follows an open floor plan concept with kitchen, dining, and living rooms, plus a full bath and laundry room and bedroom with one queen bed. Enjoy the cozy gas fireplace with real flames, while looking out the window toward the Wilmington Range. Radiant in-floor heating throughout the house also provides warmth and coziness, and in the hotter summer months, the natural thermal properties of logs keep the house cool, along with french bi-fold doors opening onto the deck for fresh air. The kitchen is fully equipped for you to make lovely meals if you so wish, with brand new stainless-steel appliances. Upstairs is the master suite area including loft and bath. The bedroom features a walkout balcony accessed via french doors, and mountain views from the queen bed. The upstairs bathroom is entirely of slate tile and red cedar, with a jacuzzi hot-tub, natural slate and glass shower, and dual flush European style toilet. There is an open loft and TV sitting room also featuring a twin bed, pull out futon, which can enjoyed as a lounging area for the master suite, or desk working area, or kids sleeping area with a comfy new futon that can lay out flat for children. This charming log chalet-style home is the perfect size for a week or weekend getaway to the Adirondack Mountains, and you'll feel you're in the Adirondacks whether at this home, or out enjoying the Adirondack region. The world class town of Lake Placid is just 15 minutes away, with fine dining and shopping, and it's the heart of the Adirondack High Peaks with the best access for hiking. Keene Valley, a hiker's destination, is also just 15 minutes away. And of course, Whiteface Mt ski area is just up the road 5 minutes away. The Ausable River is world famous for its fly fishing, and you can even enjoy your private fishing area on the bank in front of your vacation home. Wilmington is really located in a great area of the Adirondacks - it's the ski and mountain biking capital of the Adirondacks, and 15 minutes away from the best hiking in New York State. We highly recommend staying here! Super clean and in a peaceful community only a short drive to Wilmington and Lake Placid. Stacy, our host, was also super responsive to any questions and needs. The hot tub was a great spot to hang out and relax after a long day on the water or on the trails. We will surely be back!

Leslie and Chris' home was amazing. Everything from the house decor to the beautiful landscaped outdoors, you felt like you escaped somewhere magical. The home is packed with everything you would need or want -- games for the kids, extra towels, each and ever bbq utensil you'd need. We made use of so many wonderful amenities - the wood fired sauna, the pizza oven, the grill and more. What really made this place special was Leslie and Chris' hospitality -- from the welcome basket to the routine check-ins. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt as comfortable as possible.

We completed the lake placid 9er hike on our stay. Great location with all hikes less than 20 min away (some less than 10). Spectacular view and incredible kitchen. Hot tub and sauna were great amenities for recovery from long days hiking. Place is as advertised and you cannot beat the view of the mountains. Highly suggest going to the hungry trout restaurant. Only a few minutes away, much closer than downtown lake placid and the food/service was great. Highly recommend this rental and hope to be back next year to begin the 46er.

Heather, Thank you so much! It is amazing how peaceful the house and that giant yard was, and yet we were so close to town. Everything was exactly as you described from the massive fenced in yard for the dogs, to the spacious house that easily allowed everyone to visit comfortably. We walked to town several times, and to grab the delicious food from the Pickled Pig. This house was absolutely perfect for our needs, thank you!

Location is perfect! A very short walk to one of our favorite and very popular restaurant Lisa G’s. Close to town, the bike trail and a small park. We had everything we needed, along with some very nice touches. We were greeted with a nice note and cookies. ☺️ both the front porch and back deck are great for relaxing. We all had a great time. Highly recommend. Note- parking is small if you drive a big pick up truck, leaving only space for one additional small vehicle.

We really enjoyed our short stay at the “Lone Star”. Calli makes sure that all the necessary amenities are there. It was close enough to the Adirondack Rail Trail that we didn’t need to drive our vehicle to any trail access; it was a very easy ride to the trail. The cabin is also close to several very good restaurants. Our favorite, RiverTrail Beerworks, was highly recommended by our hostess. Thanks, Calli :). We loved all of the onsite activities and amenities, as well as the lodge’s proximity to town, the mountain, and all of the Olympic facilities. Can’t wait to hopefully return with our family next year!
