Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Hickory

This house is gorgeous! We had a wonderful stay. It is about a 10 minute drive from Black Mountain and maybe 20 minutes from Asheville. The bedding was all super comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. The only downside for us was that the A/C was out for the first 2 days and it got very hot, especially at night. Once it was fixed, everything was comfortable.

this was our second time staying here & it’s the most beautiful & relaxing home! we felt right at home immediately & it’s always clean & welcoming! can’t recommend this beautiful lake house enough!!!

Super clean, cozy, very charming. So many lovely little details and extras that made for a very comfortable and pleasant stay. Sadly we were only there for one short night, but I would definitely stay here again if I ever find myself back in the area.

Absolutely gorgeous location and the amenities were fantastic. Sadly we only stayed a single night but we enjoyed every part of the house. My wife and daughter were enamored by the creek and outdoor experience even though a flash rainstorm prevented us from experiencing it after dinner. Great place we recommend it!

I had a great visit in this adorable spot right on the water. I was able to meet my new grandbaby and have a quick but relaxing visit. Would definitely stay here again! The courtesy snacks were a nice touch!

The space was beautiful and looked just like the pictures! Tastefully decorated and thoughtful furniture placement with tables/lamps/etc. The kitchen was small but mighty! Fully stocked and had everything you’d need to cook a meal! Plenty of silverware and tableware, including plastic bowls and plates for kids! The coffee and cookies were a wonderful touch! The only thing to note is regarding accessibility. The only way to access the floors are with very narrow spiral stairs. Those with young children or limited mobility may have difficulty accessing all parts of the home. You can walk/drive around out back, but it would not be convenient. There is one half bath on the main middle floor and a full bathroom downstairs. The full bathroom could also benefit from a handheld shower head for those with limited mobility as well as showering young children. We did not venture out to the outdoor spaces much, but the inside was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!

Our stay at the Green Creek Shipyard was absolutely wonderful and exactly what we need.. a peaceful relaxing getaway! Our 2 highlights were the daybed by the waterfall and the front porch swing! And the indoor space was extremely functional and well-designed!! 1000% recommend staying here!!

The house was as advertised: beautiful location, the outdoor space was really incredible, and the kitchen upstairs/theater setup downstairs were popular hang out spaces. The only issue was the alarms on the back doors. Each of the back sliding doors had a manual alarm that had to be pressed to exit and enter the house. They were incredibly loud, even when used as instructed. They are obviously there for safety reasons but it made it really difficult at times to be in and out of the house to enjoy the wonderful outdoor space.

The place was great, even though it was a very quick stay. The mattresses were very comfortable, place was clean & inviting. My wife really admired their garden and has now decided we are adding a butterfly garden to our farmstead. We would def stay again.

Loch Norm Lair is beautiful and relaxing. Great neighborhood. Just the peaceful week we needed. Rick and Judy are extremely friendly. Rick loves to share his boat and will take you for a ride. We sat and talked with them on several occasions and shared a dinner at a restaurant. The place is well cared for and a great deal, very reasonable pricing. It was a shame the sailboat wasn't working, would have loved a ride. We are already talking about a return trip in warmer weather to fully enjoy the water. Thank you so much for the beautiful week. Had a great stay in Davidson, while visiting family and this was a perfect spot to land! Heard some live music by Rusty Knox, Davidson’s mayor & enjoyed a great crab cake sandwich! Mike’s place was quiet, clean and a good place to do some remote work. Would come back again!

I had a lovely stay at this Airbnb! The place was nice and cozy—just what I needed for a relaxing trip. Everything was clean and well taken care of, and the atmosphere felt very welcoming. The host was friendly and responsive, which made the experience even better. I’d definitely stay here again!

Our stay here was Awesome! It's exactly what we needed. The space was lovely, beautiful, and very peaceful. I was in town handling some stressful business and I was able to escape into an oasis at Jaime's house. Thank you so much for being accommodating to me and my family.

Simon and Julia are super helpful and kind. The place was just as expected, kitchen was fully equipped, everything was clean - and beautiful views. You can hear the neighbors pretty clear upstairs - but you can’t do much about that - plus it was disclosed in the listing. So overall I give 5 stars to Julia and Simon because THEY were ABSOLUTELY AMAZING - super responsive, I will definitely be returning ❤️ p.s. my bro forgot his wallet in the bnb after we checked out and there was absolutely no issue going back to find it - they are a delightful couple.

I had a wonderful stay and a wait to come back ! The place was very cute and quaint, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking — the views alone made it worth the trip. The location was perfect, close to everything I wanted to explore. Being able to soak in the hot tub and use the sauna after all day hiking was fabulous. My host was incredibly helpful and responsive, which made the experience even better. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area

I can not say enough about this beautiful little gem in the woods! It was so well decorated and all the little thoughtful additions, like a bag of local coffee and heated bed covers were just perfect and exactly what I needed for this get away to reconnect with myself and nature. I barely left the condo, because the view was so spectacular and how cozy the home felt! I was visited by a bunch of different birds on the cute patio where I painted a few of them as I sipped coffee and just listened to the breeze ruffle the leaves or rain shower that softly fell! Definitely hope to return very soon!

Trey’s place hit all the marks for what I needed - clean, cozy, comfy, and affordable. Bonus points for an amazing loose leaf tea selection, gorgeous mountain views at sunrise and sunset, and close to everything I wanted to do in the area. (Grandfather Mtn, Linville Falls, Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster were on my list - did them all in a day.) All instructions were clear and easy, and I had everything I needed for an enjoyable weekend away in the NC mountains. Go stay here and support western NC!! I hope to come back again soon :)

We had a great time staying here, it was cozy and perfect for a mountain getaway. Everything was clean, and the location was great.

This is my third stay at Hunter’s Airbnb and I’ve really enjoyed each trip! The condo is spotlessly clean and very airy, and has a stunning view out the large front windows. It’s well set up, with a surprising amount of room for stashing your stuff. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, and I loved taking walks there. There are also lots of hiking trails very close by, although a few are currently still closed due to damage from Helene. The internet is very fast and dependable, which is not always the case at Beech Mountain. I’ve used my stays as a writing retreat and always get a shocking amount done, while soaking in the lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Chad and Allison were fantastic hosts. The place is absolutely beautiful and lots of things for kids to do. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway with lots of things to do, this is your spot. Will definitely book again.
