"Kyo-machiya" is a Kyoto traditional wooden townhouse which features detailed Japanese vernacular architecture built as early as Heian period, throughout Edo and Meiji period. Kyo-machiya housed merchants and craftsmen, or the townspeople of old Kyoto.
