We renovated a 100-year-old Kyoto townhouse to be a little more modern. It is a house where you can feel a little of the history of our house, which was a former clinic, with the remnants of the Showa era. There is a small garden and an old piano. The house has two floors, but the first floor (about 66 square meters) is completely independent and can be rented.The entrance is independent and part of the garden is for guests only. It is a 3-minute walk from Toji Temple, a 5-minute taxi ride from Kyoto Station, and a 20-minute walk from the center of the city, making it a convenient place for transportation to tourist spots. * The price shown first on the page is the price for one person.(Price varies by day) For 2 or more people, there is an additional charge of 3800 yen per person. This is a renovated Kyomachi house near Gojo-zaka. A 100-year-old Kyomachi house has been transformed into a guest house where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the good old days. It is a luxurious natural material renovation that uses diatomaceous earth with deodorizing and humidity regulating effects, and unpolluted materials such as hinoki cypress and cedar, with attention to detail in the finish. The whole ceiling is covered with cypress, and the pillars, frames, and baseboards are also made of cypress, creating a space filled with the comfort of real natural materials and the scent of cypress. Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka.
