Excellent room, the kitchen is super clean and easy to use. The people are friendly and have great recommendations for things to do in the neighborhood. The showers, the room, and the neighborhood are all clean and welcoming. would come back for sure

This place is just perfect for a trip away from Kyoto! The hostel is so tidy and clean and comfy. We received an immediate message upon booking to confirm our plans with check-in details. The staff were very sweet, helpful, and friendly and this was an excellent location in a quieter part of the city – across the river and away from the crowds and perfect to still get to be in Arashiyama. The hostel is walkable to the onsen and provides a couple for a discount for entry!

We were unsure about the location of this space but the neighbourhood was a ton of fun and the local recommendations were great! We bussed to Arashiyama and to Kyoto station easily.

We had a great stay at Unknown Kyoto. The location was ideal — just a short walk to Gion, but tucked away enough to be quiet and peaceful at night. It made exploring incredibly easy. The accommodation itself was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully arranged. Everything we needed was provided. The hosts were friendly and responsive, making check-in smooth and hassle-free. Overall, it was a perfect base for our time in Kyoto.

A relaxing environment, a warm welcome, and a beautiful wooden building. What more could you ask for, there is a cafe on the ground floor which after it closes serves as a common space. It's worth staying here for a week, this place actually recharges you.

Gojo's place is super convenient. It's an old building, but it's clean and tidy. Gojo and his friends are kind and helpful, and I felt very comfortable during my stay here. I highly recommend Gojo's place!

Great place! It was very quiet throughout the day. The staff provided clear instructions in English. The bed was super comfortable, and there’s also a fan in case it gets hot.

The interior and facilities are very clean, the toilet and bathroom are separate but shared and very clean. If I have a chance, I might choose this place again.

Although it takes about 30 minutes by bus to get to the city, the accommodation was great. It has everything - cosmetics, shower items, etc. Relaxed meditation music was playing. Masa gave great tips for nearby activities, such as the onsen

This hostel is beautiful - it is decorated in the traditional Japanese style with a little garden, tatami mats, and low tables. It’s close to public transportation and for the price it’s a great experience. The hostel is very clean and I really enjoyed hanging out in the communal spaces. I usually don’t spend much time in the hostels I stay at but this one had a really nice atmosphere & the other guests were great to chat with in the evenings.

This hostel is closed to the Kyoto Imperial Park and is also easy to find. The receptionist is very kind and told me everything I need to know. The bed is very stable and doesn’t make noises like some other hostels. The only problem is my bed is on the third floor and I need to use the bathroom at the second floor. But the hostel is still worth having a five star score. I hope I could stay longer next time.

All good! Great hosts! Plenty of toilets and showers. Something was wrong with my reservation. Then I just got breakfast. Very pleasant.

The bus stops right outside the hostel so it's really convenient. There's a lot of attractions nearby and an onsen as well! Beautiful and peaceful place.

Great location, close to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Gion and Shijo.On the day, there were a lot of guests staying, so the toilets and bathrooms were messy, and the area around the lockers was congested with suitcases, but the white-toned interior was stylish. The bedroom, bathroom, toilet, and washroom were completely separated by doors, so I wasn't bothered by the noise and it was easy to use. I was also happy with the free water and coffee, and there was a lounge where I could easily talk to guests from various countries, so it was a very good memory. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful time.
