【Kyo no Machi ASUKA】Good Access! Private house

GenevieveRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We had a very lovely stay! It was cozy and in a great area, easy to get around and beautiful places to see close by. My only suggestion is that they replace the hairdryer, the vent at the back was very clogged and I was too worried to use it. But that’s an easy replace, and I’d be more than happy to stay here again. They were helpful and responsive, quick and polite!

N.Machiya stay inside Chomyo temple, stay with Zen

EricaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Location: It is easier to reach by taxi to Maekawada, convenient bus stops nearby, subway station a little further away. The location of the accommodation is secluded, and it is the first time I have stayed in a century-old townhouse in an alley, it is very quiet. Amenities: There is a supermarket nearby, but if you want to go to a convenience store, you have to walk a distance that is not close. There is a local family restaurant downstairs, and the food is quite good. Indoor environment: fully equipped, low floor, not good lighting and ventilation, AC seems to be timed, not sure if it will be hot in summer, no bedside plug. Communication with the owner: very timely, needs are responded to. Some regrets: the small box road at the door is often under construction during the day, and it is not very convenient to enter and exit the alley.Pulling a suitcase through alleys and temples can be a bit of a struggle.

【Bairin-an】 Perfect for 2 in Kiyomizu

AndrewRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Our stay here was great and as advertised. like another reviewer said, it's the perfect size for two. The host met us in person and explained all the details around use of appliances, how to access the lockbox and provided some local recommendations. all this even though we ran a little later than our estimate. The property itself is older, but beautiful and walkable to many things to do in the Gion area and Kyomizudera shrine.

House with piano and garden

CatalinaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I had the pleasure of staying here about eight years ago and everything was perfect again! Great location across the street from a gorgeous Kyoto icon, Toji Temple, nice and close to public transportation including the city’s mega train station, and wonderful, gracious hospitality from the host. One of my favorite Airbnb stays ever!

Traditional Terrace House. Private open-air bath.

IliesRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
This house is lovely awesome and perfectly clean. Our stay was wonderful and more worth the price. The private onsen inside the tiny Japanese garden is beautiful. The location is very quiet, near the river and less 5 minutes by walk from the station and konbini. Everything you need is provided inside the house, so you don’t have to worry about

Stylish Kyoto House 800m to Station Peaceful Stay

StephenRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Place is very spacious, very clean and good air conditioner. Very comfortable bedding. Shower is plenty big. If you are 6ft or over you’ll need to occasionally duck but tat all over Japan. It’s definitely not a problem. Way better than staying in a hotel as I could sneak downstairs as I am always up before my family and could get work done before activities. Cabs and Ubers go right by, 7-11 is baseball throw away and an excellent I Indian restaurant on the corner. If you have a kid who wants McDonald’s it’s right there too. You’ll have to take a cab or Uber unless you want to walk 20 minutes to things but as I said they are readily available and only cost $10. Highly recommend super spacious and I felt a much better option for us than a small hotel room. Also it had a good washer for clothes.

IrisRating, 5 stars5 days ago
This cozy home is just 2 mins walking from the historic resort Toji Temple and 8 mins walking to Toji station which is convenient to everywhere we want to visit. This entire home is very quiet and charming. It’s a typical Japanese style decor inside and has everything we need . I’ll strongly recommend here to everyone who wants to explore Kyoto.

Miyagawacho Samurai Machiya

RobRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Amazing place, looked even better than the pictures. I was surprised how big the place was in person. The train station was just a 8 minute walk to take you to all the popular spots. We were a group of 8 and it was a perfect place for our size. I would highly recommended this place and I’ve already booked it again for a future trip. We were also able to check in our bags early while we waited for the house to be ready for us which allowed us to explore the city until check in time. Thank you for all the accommodations !

Traditional Kyoto townhouse with Japanese garden

BrandonRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Overall a great stay at a beautiful historic-style Kyoto house. Close to the train stations, convience stores and some great parks and temples. Easy to take a cab or taxi to downtown Kyoto if you don't want to walk or the weather isn't cooperating. Plenty of room for a family, however keep in mind it is a old house that has been restored and they have taken great pride to keep traditional charm - which means it could be challenging for young kids depending on how well they behave. Thankfully, we had no issues. Kyoko was quick to respond if we had questions and once we found the check in location it was a very nice experience and then short taxi to the residence itself. Only thing I would recommend is putting some kind of blinds on the windows as the sun would rise around 5am and without blinds or curtains some of our family would wake up super early from the light. The bathroom, soaking tub and water pressure are all amazing. We would happily stay again on our next Kyoto visit.

A 120-year-old Kyoto townhouse and alley as it was in the past. 3 mins walk from the station. 1 stop to Kyoto Station. Children are welcome [Kyomachiya Shinoname 1898]

CameronRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
Kento is a great host. We appreciated meeting him and the welcome gift. The place is very well designed with everything you need. Good location, close to the train station. As in the listing, it is right next to active train tracks which adds to the charm but not a good fit for light sleepers. Trains run except midnight to 5 AM. All in all a great exp with a very good host.

Great place and peaceful. I also enjoyed the neighborhood with the narrow roads and the traditional look of some of the houses made the place feel more authentic.

I really liked this Japanese house! It looks totally traditional and cozy. I find the small tree in the middle area very exciting, makes the whole thing very friendly. The decor is beautifully simple and yet tasteful. The location was also great. It is quiet, but still close enough to easily reach everything. Would come back anytime! You are always happy after long tours of the city and the surroundings when you are back:) This is how I imagined my Kyoto experience!

【Open sale】Kyomachiya guest house Cho an-Kujo

CaseyRating, 5 stars6 days ago
If you’re asking yourself whether or not it’s worth it to book here— the answer is an absolute YES. It is truly one of the most beautiful homes we’ve ever stayed in. The outdoor tub is heavenly and was the best way to beat the summer heat during our stay. The beds are so comfortable, the house was the cleanest Airbnb I’ve ever seen (and I’ve been lucky enough to stay in many excellent ones!), and the location is prime for anything you might want to get up to. We couldn’t be more grateful to have experienced Kyoto for the first time here! Truly the most peaceful place to stay in the most peaceful city. Also, the AC is the crispest I’ve ever been in, which was a must. Great all around!

Kyotofish·Shirakawa*Gion Area Riverview Machiya

JoseRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
The location on the Shirakawa is the main selling feature on this. Peaceful and nice to come home to. We sat there many nights on a floor seat near the window watching the canal. They can set up a futon for a third guest in this area, but be warned they have the best view!! :) There are fireflies at night on the canal. There is some car and pedestrian traffic on the opposite side of the canal and people do look in. The unit was clean and there's not a lot of stuff to clutter the space, which is nice. Furnishings are good quality and in good shape. There's a full steam bath on the first floor and a half bath on the second floor where the bed is. There's a full kitchen downstairs and a combo washer/dryer (takes about 4 hours for full cycle) on 1st floor. The unit could use more places to sit and a smaller dining table, but they're minor inconveniences. The location is great and very walkable to the entire historic area. We spotted 16 geishas in our 5 nights in Kyoto!

Kyotofish·Nishitou*Kiyomizu Temple 12min Machiya

FeeRating, 5 stars2 days ago
We had two wonderful days at this place. Since Kyoto is so beautiful, unfortunately we could not spend as much time in this great house as it deserves. That's why I bathed at three in the morning in the small private onsen overlooking the garden and spent little time sleeping. Everything was very clean and cozy. Thanks a lot!

1917 Machiya designed by Class 1 Architect

KirstinRating, 5 stars4 days ago
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful apartment very much! It felt like a tiny house and we felt right at home, a great place for a longer visit! It’s very quiet although it’s in a lively and lovely neighborhood. Very good small restaurants and supermarkets around the corner. Several bus stations in as little as 1-5 minutes by foot. Kyoto University is only a 20 min bus ride. If we ever would be in Kyoto again we would happily stay here again!
