Design Cottage Close to Icelandic Countryside & Reykjavik

Step into one of the oldest homes in town, dating from 1884. Curated by the owners of the design studio Reykjavík Trading Co., The Garden Cottage has been completely remodeled to provide a unique feeling, with a lot of the furniture handmade or meticulously crafted and selected from their travels to California, Scandinavia & Mexico. The land behind The Garden Cottage is home to their designed greenhouse, communal garden, chickens and their most recent addition, The Shed which is their workshop / shop where you can visit for a coffee, buy pieces or see their process of making objects. Curated by the owners & designers of Reykjavík Trading Co. (an Icelandic / California homeware company) the Garden Cottage is their first project of creating a home space for guests to experience a unique & cozy feeling while visiting Iceland. The bottom floor of the 1884 built home has been completely remodeled for guests. Everything in the home has been either made by hand by R.T.Co. or selected from their collection of preferred products & appliances. Anthony Bacigalupo & Ýr Káradóttir, the owners of The Garden Cottage, live & work in the separate upper part of the historic home & their R.T.Co. workshop is located in the back of the garden for guests to visit, learn about the pieces being crafted, or just to have a cup of coffee. We wanted to create a place for guests to experience "slow living" & create a special stay. Having designed spaces for hotels, cafes, bars we decided to put our inspiration & collection into this project & build something completely one-of-a-kind in Iceland. The home was built in 1884 & we have been remodeling & bringing back the style it once was but also bringing back the garden & farm style that was once so prominent back in the day. We believe in hospitality to the fullest which sadly doesn't exist anymore in places. Since we live on the property we can answer any questions you have or have you in for a coffee if you need help deciding your journey in Iceland. The cottage is in the oldest part of Hafnarfjörður, a small harbor town. There are great farm-to-table restaurants, bakeries, live music, artist studios and swimming pools nearby. It’s conveniently located across the road from the town’s bus terminal. The house has three stories but is broken into two flats- we live on the upper floors with our children with separate driveway and front door- but we are here for anything you need or to have a coffee in the greenhouse! Our little town can be easily walked around & explored. Shuttle stops for airport & Blue Lagoon are 3 minutes walk next to the ocean & the bus terminal into Reykjavík is close as well.

Apartment with an amazing view.

One bedroom, newly furnished apartment with amazing ocean view in a secure neighborhood. It offers access to the patio from the living room. The owner will assist you upon arrival. Sleeping arrangement The bedroom has a double bed, it can not be separated in 2 singles. A sleeper sofa for two in the living room. A crib for a child can be arranged. The neighborhood Only 10 minutes driving to Reykjavík city center. Grocery store, restaurants and more within walking distance. Only 10 minutes walk to the center of Hafnarfjörður. 3-5 minutes walk to the bus station. Locality and attractions: You can walk to a few restaurants, Serranos, American Style, Castello Pizzeria, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Gamla Vínhúsið and more. The Viking Village, Whale watching, museums and a small shopping center. How to get there from the airport: The apartment is very easy to find and it takes about 30 minutes to drive from the airport to the apartment. The cheapest way is to take a bus and the apartment owner will pick you up at the bus station. How to get there from the city center: The city center (in Reykjavík) is 10 minutes drive in a car from the apartment. It takes about 25 minutes by a bus.

Norðurbrú - nice studio apartment in quiet area

This property is located in the historical part of Hafnarfjordur, in a calm residential area which is less than 10-min walking distance to the city center of Hafnarfjordur. The neighborhood has a unique charm where traditional Icelandic houses have gotten to maintain their original charm encapsulated in lava fields. Staying here you truly get to be one of the locals, tucked away from the more touristy areas. The area gives you a opportunity to view and live amongst some of the oldest buildings.

Cozy family home!

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay with a volcanic view. In the nearest area you have discount store, gas station, swimming pools, playgrounds as well as nature areas. It is also close to the airport, Blue Lagoon, Hafnarfjörður town and Reykjavik. A family of 4 lives here, 2 adults, a 8 year old girl and 5 year old boy. Íbúðin er í byggingu sem er verið að byggja samkvæmt viðmiðum Svansins. Það þýðir að efnisval miðast við að það valdi sem minnstum skaða fyrir umhverfi og heilsu fólks. Einnig er reynt að lágmarka kolefnisspor hússins á fermeter. Góðar samgöngur eru á svæðinu en strætó númer 1 stoppar 500 m frá húsnæðinu. Einbýlishúsið sem íbúðin er í, er enn í byggingu. During our visit to Iceland, we stayed at multiple Airbnb locations and by far this was the best home. we felt right at home! Excellent location (proximity to city) and nice neighborhood. Apartment had all the amenities as described. We enjoyed the family room (Girls watched movie) and kitchen (complements from my wife). Kitchen had all the things that we needed to make quick meal and breakfast. We loved the book collection and enjoyed browsing few of them.

We enjoyed our visit to Edvard's place the best out of all of the places we stayed in Iceland (including some fine hotels). The house is lovely, immaculately clean, and has so many clever touches that reflect what interesting people the hosts must be. It was very comfortable, and we were sad to leave after our brief stay. Should we return to Iceland any time soon, we would easily come back to this lovely home!

A lovely bolthole for exploring Reykjavik! In a quiet and charming neighbourhood, it is attached to the main house but you definitely feel private enough. Comfy bed, plenty of amenities - wonderful shower. Plentiful parking and only a short distance into town. We even managed to see the Northern Lights from here!

The apartment was exactly as described—very stylish with modern decor and a welcoming, homey feel. We especially appreciated the spacious bathroom, which included both a washing machine and dryer—super convenient for a longer stay. The layout of the space was well thought out and made us feel right at home. The only downside was that the bed in the second bedroom was a bit small for two people to sleep comfortably. Other than that, it was a great place and we’d definitely recommend it!
