Our home is in the hamlet where Arthur Ransome, author of 'Swallows & Amazons' spent his childhood holidays. Today it still retains that old-world charm. We are a stone's throw from the lake, with woodlands & waterfalls on our doorstep. You can sit by a cosy fire or enjoy a walk/picnic by the lake on light evenings. The tranquil farm is only two miles outside of Bowness-on-Windermere. There are great local pubs and eateries and walks. There is even a golf course less than half a mile away.

A cosy cottage bedroom at Larriston Farm - a mid 19th century farm steading around a cobbled courtyard. We're 20 minutes' drive from Kielder and the observatory, and Newcastleton, in a very rural setting amongst fields, woods, hills and rivers. Dogs welcome. We offer a continental breakfast, and you're welcome to use the kitchen to cook a light evening meal. We have two double rooms - check our other listing too if there's more than two of you.

The house is situated on a quiet cul de sac in Kendal, a 10/15 min walk from the mainline train station, Oxenholme Station, and a 20-25 minute walk into town. The bedroom is on the ground floor with an ensuite private shower room. We are close to the hospital, ideal if need somewhere to stay if you are working there for a week or two. Breakfast is provided for you in the utility room, you are welcome to use our dining room.
