Family-friendly vacation rentals in Buxton

When folks say this place is right on the water, they’re not kidding - the water comes right up to a small dune in front of the house. It’s pretty amazing. Lots of room to hang out and enjoy family time while taking in beautiful views - even if it rains, you’re gazing out over the ocean and the sound. Hot tub was awesome - right at eye level with the dunes and the ocean. Sunrises and sunsets are amazing. Lots of deck space on both sides. Seaside was a great host and proactive, giving us a heads up that high winds and rain were coming in so we came down in our jeep instead of a car. They checked on us several times, both by phone and in person. We had a great time!

We had an amazing stay and felt right at home! It was exactly as described. Both the sound and ocean were in walking distance. We even had a few stores we could walk to. We would definitely come again!

Ross was friendly and easy to communicate with for our last minute stay. The house is clean and large enough for a big group. There is only one queen size bed and the rest are twin and full size bunk beds which is unique but worked fine for us. The location is convenient and easy to find. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, could use some newer pans but that's the case with most rentals. We didn't use the hot tub & pool much but they were clean and ready to go.

This was a very last minute booking I needed to attend a funeral. Incredibly lucky to find this place actually available. Chris was immediately responsive and super helpful. I arrived later at night and accessing the house was super easy. The house had everything I needed and more. The furniture was very comfortable, kitchen clean and hot tub relaxing. I would definitely use this house for a family vacation as it was close to everything and the beach is right there. I needed to work so the Wi-Fi worked perfectly for zoom calls. Chris was flexible on checkout which was so appreciated!

Heaven sent! My family arrived at another rental we had booked for 2 weeks in Rodanthe only to find it inaccessible due to flooding so we were homeless at 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We found Natalie's listing for this property and quickly contacted her to request an on-the spot booking. She responded immediately and graciously accepted. We had no idea what to expect, having had no opportunity to thoroughly research the property in advance of booking. Natalie indeed has a true gem in this listing. Being waterfront on the sound side was a new experience for us, we have been lifelong oceanfront renters. The property, pool and grounds were exceptionally well cared for and the pier and sea wall provided ample fishing opportunities, bringing in several nice Red Drum and Blues among the usual assortment. The house itself provided ample room for our family to spread out and also enjoy being together. Natalie saved the day and we had a fabulous stay - I highly recommend this listing!

The house is incredible. The decor is amazing. Everyday someone would notice a something else they never saw before. There is a very short walk to beach. You have great views of the sunrise over the ocean from the hot tub or either deck. We saw Manny shooting stars during our stay. Cindy is a very helpful and caring host. She gave us updates on beach conditions and an outlook for our drive home. Overall one of our best Airbnb experiences. We will definitely be staying again.

Place is super nice!!! clean and comfy. Host is very nice. The food places around were all good and a lot of them, 5 to 10 min drive. perfect place for a peaceful vacation with a baby and a dog😊😊😊

We really enjoyed our stay! The house had everything we needed for a relaxing family vacation, lots of space, a peaceful location, and fun extras like the hot tub, hammock, fishing dock, and outdoor shower (super convenient after beach days). We especially loved the screened-in porch with an outdoor table overlooking the water and dock perfect for meals or just relaxing. It was clean and comfortable with beautiful views. A short drive to the beach, but worth it for the privacy. Loved having access to kayaks ro explore. Would definitely stay again!

Chase’s place is a perfect get away for 2-4 people. It’s soooo close to the beach, just a 3 min walk over the dune. It was quiet and private and had great outdoor space including chairs on the upper deck and picnic table below to toss all the beach stuff when returning from the beach. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning and wi fi were strong! We were able to walk for coffee at Muffins and Scones and wine & beer at Cork and Bottle, both of which were fantastic! So refreshing to find an air bnb with all the furnishings in an area dominated by rental companies that require you to bring or rent your own linens. Thanks Chase!

This place was amazing! Spacious, comfortable beds, beautiful location, grocery store, shops and restaurants nearby. The layout of the house was perfect for my adult children and their families to have privacy but allowed us to spend quality time together. There are plenty of games and puzzles for all age groups. Definitely want to go back next year!

Great location, perfect walk to the beach, almost like oceanfront. Great hang out space and kitchen. Lots of extra blankets, fan for the white noise people. Great outdoor shower and basketball hoop. Walk to the beach was quick and not too challenging. Clean pool and hot tub!!! Would definitely come back!!!

We had a fantastic week at your beach house! The house, notably the kitchen, was extremely spacious. The private access to the beach was close, clean, and safe. We loved being situated on a culdesac and the ample parking available. There was plenty of common areas and sidewalks to walk our dog. Of all the beach houses we have stayed at, this was the most family-friendly. Thank you for an amazing week. We look forward to booking again!

We had a Wonderful stay in Hatteras at Wendy’s place. Right across the street from the ocean. Quiet neighborhood and all the locals are very friendly. Beds slept so comfortable! Would stay there again.

This was our second visit at Nags Head at this location. It is a 5-minute walk to the public beach access, and just minutes from the main drag. Love the location which is close to where our daughter works, and the convenience to the local restaurants and tourist traps. A great location/value for the money!

We had a great stay at Out of the Blue. Margot was so responsive and helpful. Perfect location to get to/from beach easily and close to grocery, restaurants. Comfortable home. Would definitely return!

definitely worth the stay. walking distance to anything you need. the beach is right off the driveway! excellent fishing spot as well! (caught a 27" red drum in the surf as well as a whiting and a flounder) the house in itself is well set up to accomodate the family and all of its needs. we had a party of 9 myself my significant other and 7 children ages 20 - 7 . everyone was comfortable and had a blast! will definitely book again!

Had a fantastic experience on the Outer Banks in Frisco. The house was beautiful, right on the beach - and with a hot tub on one of the decks. Highly recommend VacasaNC!

This is a lovely home in a great location. There is a beach access a few driveways down, restaurants and shops with in walking distance, and is on what felt like a safe quiet street. The house was just as described. Contrary to some other reviews, we found soft blankets available in every bedroom, fans in the closets, and a hair drier in the downstairs bathroom. We LOVED this sweet house and would definitely recommend.

Great space with a lot of room for two people. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, the pool area was amazing, and we were within walking and biking distance to everything Ocracoke has to offer. We also had some issues with our truck while we were there, and Donna was very accommodating and understanding. The Cabanas are an amazing place to stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. For a family of 3 (including a 19 month old), this was the perfect vacation spot. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and swinging, having lunch outside, and our son was a big fan of the beach. There was ample space for us to spread out and the washer and dryer was a plus so we weren’t taking home as much laundry to do. The neighborhood is very walkable and there are great views both in the backyard and around the neighborhood. A nice quiet retreat. We did ask beforehand if there was a baby gate or high chair and got a response within an hour so we knew to pack those items. Very relaxing and a much needed break from the hustle of other more “touristy” beach spots. We will be back.

I spent the week at Swept Away with my wife and daughter and we all had a wonderful time! The location could not have been better - the beach was walking distance and we really enjoyed the private pool and hot tub. There are a variety of good restaurants located close by which was also very convenient. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay in the Outer Banks and hope to be "swept away" again in the future.

Great location! Very peaceful on the sound side of Hatteras. Wildlife was wonderful! Very comfortable and back deck was relaxing!

We loved this place!!! It was tastefully decorated and cozy. It was a beautiful space to be in. The balconies let us have a beautiful view of the water, pool and boats. The restaurant was a walk around the marina. There were plenty of places to get food and things you needed. Downtown Manteo is a wonderful spot with restaurants and stores and was only 5 minutes down the road, and the beach was super close as well. I can't say enough of what a wonderful time we had. And the host got right back to me with my silly questions:)

Very nice views from inside and the porch. 20 second walk to the beach from the backyard- definitely worth the money. They may want to check out the some of the windows that have drafts and the skylight in the bathroom upstairs may want to be looked at due to some water damage around the window and on some of the walls.
