Giuseppe Garibaldi, stayed there in 1884 to recover with the aid of the thermal waters from the wounds suffered during the battle of Aspromonte. It is located in the Bay of Cartaromana, overlooking the Bay of Naples (Mount Vesuvius, the Sorrento Peninsula, and the islands of Capri, Procida, and Vivara).
