Naruko Onsenkyo is a very rare hot spring area where 9 of the 11 types of spring water found in Japan are gathered. The spring quality is smooth, slightly alkaline, and has a faint sulfur scent. (Calcium-sodium-nitrate spring, hypotonic alkaline high-temperature hot spring) Indications include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lower back pain, peripheral circulatory disorders (cold sensitivity), dry skin, and various symptoms caused by stress. Enjoy a timeless stay at this inn surrounded by the garden of the Minabe family, lords of the Morioka Domain (now the Morioka Chuo Community Center Garden), and the Nakatsugawa River, an iconic symbol of Morioka that has flowed through the heart of the castle town since the Edo period. The strolling garden across the street, just a 1-minute walk away, is said to have been called the “Oyakuen” because it was used to grow medicinal herbs for Morioka Castle. Located right in front of it, this house displays a sign that reads “Oyakuenmae,” and began offering private lodging in April 2026. Taking advantage of the 50-year-old building, we have renovated it into a space that honors the past while creating something new.
