My stay was excellent. Everything was very clean, the location is ideal and safe, with easy access to everything. The neighborhood is very quiet, perfect for rest. Communication with the host was always quick and clear. I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

If you are expecting a 5 star hotel do not go here. If you are expecting an experience, amazing food, no AC, cold showers, no iron or hair dryer and an amazing rural farm experience that you will never forget then this is the place to go. Extremely good, honest, hard working people. They feed you almost everything they grow or raise and give you the same food they eat or feed their kids. Mary Luz is an amazing person and a great cook. Plenty of other options available in the area to get a farm experience but if you also want a foodie experience then this place is it. As everyone has said rough roads but we had a good suv and got there in 20 minutes after we turned off highway 32. For some people it may take 45 minutes. Expect to get woken up with birds and roosters making a racket around 5:30 am.

We had an exceptional two-night stay with family (with my wife and three daughters). This is probably one of our best Airbnb experiences! The place, a little off the beaten track, is a real gem. We discover magnificent nature: a lush forest, a beautiful waterfall, superb animals and very good restaurants nearby. The location is also ideal for those who want to reach Tortuguero or Cahuita easily. Meals and breakfast are excellent, made with care and taste. A real plus! A huge thank you to Laura, who is an extremely attentive, warm and available host. It was a real pleasure. We recommend this place without a second thought!

A well-appointed cottage. The kitchen has everything for self-catering. Two bedrooms are a plus. It was difficult to locate thanks to G@@gle Maps and Waze errors. I would not want to be looking for it in the dark. Jorge got us there. Peaceful rural location, close enough to town for provisions. I missed the fact that there was no hot water so we used the kettle when we needed some. Not a big problem. The shower head looks like it might heat water but we didn’t try it. I would stay there again.

Very nice host, he showed us another small waterfall and went swimming with us. Very good location right by the river with jungle vibes. There was nothing missing in amenities.

I really enjoyed staying at Lorena’s cabin on the Rio Blanco: the river is absolutely gorgeous, the hike to river is beautiful and fun, and the home is beautiful and comfortable- didn’t even need any AC! The air flow was easy, not many bugs, and the air smelled so rich. We enjoyed the above ground pool - so cool after the car ride from the coast! Thank you, Lorena, for sharing your beautiful space with us: what a blessing!

We enjoyed this house so much the view and the pool were amazing. We stayed with our granddaughter and she swam in the pool for hours! Our daughter was attending a biology field study in Chilamate so the location was perfect but we didn’t know that we would also love this little town so much! We went white water rafting and it was a blast! We also learned about Chocolate production and many of the local flora and fauna from a couple of excellent local guides! The pool was a dream, we swam everyday multiple times and it was so refreshing and fun. The loft bedroom with a complete wall of sliding glass doors was perfect for watching the birds at sunrise and didn’t even have to get out of bed. We loved the indoor/outdoor living of this house and the property was full of so many different fruit trees. We would love to stay here again next time we visit Chilamate!

A very quiet place to enjoy as a family with all amenities, excellent to go with pets since there is a lot of space, the host is always attentive and friendly, in end everything is very good.

Beautiful garden, very pleasant, close to Guapiles and Angelino. Convenient for visiting the eastern region of Costa Rica. We had a lovely stay at this house, there are cute cats and a dog.

Great place to stay. Katherine was very responsive and did all the arrangements before we arrive. People were waiting for us at the dock, very welcoming and took us to get home. Very Nice and cleaned home.

Rodrigo's accommodation is very good, well located in the village with a nice view from the kitchen and terrace, but not from the bedroom which has no window. What was unpleasant was that in fact I was not communicating with him but with a person he delegated and who was only there to sell me activities and pushed for consumption without taking into account the quiet time I wanted to spend in Tortuguero. This person was even very intrusive to disturb me when I came out of my shower while I wanted to quietly enjoy the sunset on the lagoon. I still did an activity with him but he changed the schedules to his liking and didn't take into account that I didn't understand anything he was telling me.

Perfect! The room was much bigger than expected. Fantastic view, quiet location and yet central.

Allan's home was a perfect place for us to stay while in Tortuguero. He was a very responsive host and the location was great. Nothing is far in Tortuguero. Clean and comfortable with a fully shaded patio which was SO welcomed during the heat of the day. Would book again for any future trip.

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Chilamates! The room was spotless and comfortable. A/C worked great! The porch was so nice to have. Right up against the national park boundary, so we saw tons of wildlife. We would definitely stay here again! Rodrigo and staff were all so friendly and helpful, and made our stay great! Thank you, pura vida !

We had a wonderful stay! The home was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The host was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The location was perfect for our trip, and we felt very welcomed throughout our stay. The pool was not usable at all Would definitely recommend and love to come back again!

Heidy's place is a perfectly located, cosy spot from which to explore Tortuguero, relax and go to the beach. Less than five minutes walk to centre of town and boat drop off and pick up place, at one end of the street and beach at the other. It is also very quiet and private, we enjoyed using the patio for quiet meals or drinks. The beach is beautiful and their was a sloth one night in a coconut tree on the beach. Heidy had arranged for us to be met when we stepped off the boat and a local guide showed us to the flat. Heidy was always super responsive and helpful whenever we had a question. Please note there is no air-conditioning or hot water in the shower, but that didn't bother us, the fan kept us cool at night. I would love to come back to Tortuguero and hope to stay at Heidy's again.
