Kihachikan South Nozawa Onsen

Kihachikan South is a luxurious and homely family chalet. It has three bedrooms; one double, one twin and one smaller single room. The light filled, open plan kitchen and living room features a locally made oak kitchen that includes a Miele oven and induction hob and Miele dishwasher. The kitchen is fully supplied with all the main amenities including; a rice cooker, toaster, microwave, coffee machine and full cooking utensils should they be required. The comfy sofa seating area focusses around a cast iron pellet stove and the latest Bang & Olufsen television and sound system including live feed from the ski hills and Netflix. The daily readings from the traditional barograph will keep you ahead of the weather apps …….. possibly! The bedrooms maintain a traditional feel with shoji windows, wooden beams and authentic wall coverings with the addition of discreet blinds, wooden flooring and western style beds. The bedroom wardrobes in Japanese oak were made to order in Nagano. The bathrooms include walk in showers with locally made hinoki shower benches. The upstairs bathroom with both slate and wooden flooring also contains a separate seating area and large bath tub. The upstairs bathroom enjoys great views over to Togari and Mount Myoko. Dyson hair dryers are supplied in the two main bedrooms. The artwork throughout the Kihachikan South is a mixture of original Japanese woodblock prints and an extensive collection of original 16th & 17th century antique maps of Asia. Kihachikan South has a Miele washing machine and separate Miele clothes dryer.The ski, board and boot room is downstairs and shared with Kihachikan North and contains snow shoes for guest use (when available).

The entire building consists of two buildings, and this West building is ideal for families and pets. With simultaneous reservations with the East building, it can accommodate up to 10 guests, and all tourist facilities and ski resorts are easily accessible from the national highway in front of the hotel. The room has all the necessary facilities, including a system kitchen equipped with the latest IH stove and dishwasher, a full bathroom, a warm water bidet, a sink, and a washing machine. It is also fully equipped with air conditioning, so you can stay cool in summer and warm and comfortable in winter. The living room has a wood-burning stove for cold winters and an elevator for people with physical disabilities. The bedding is Simmons bedding, and we promise you a good night's sleep to heal your tired body from sightseeing and play. It is a calm space with an old house motif. The living room has a large sunken kotatsu style Irori fireplace where you can enjoy meals and drinks. There is also a 4-seat counter bar. Nozawa Onsen Ski Area, Shiga Kogen, Madarao Kogen Ski Area, and Tohachi Onsen Ski Area are all nearby, making it the perfect base for winter sports. In the green season, there are eight golf courses within an hour, including the Madarao Country Club, and many day-use hot spring facilities. The owner lives on the right side of the entrance and can be contacted at any time, and understands everyday conversational English. In the green season, you can harvest fresh vegetables from our own farm at any time, and enjoy a barbecue in the garden. The garden is also spacious, so you can also enjoy a short walk. Iiyama's specialty is the famous green asparagus, which can be enjoyed from May to July, and there is also a roadside station nearby where you can enjoy fresh vegetables and delicious buckwheat.

Enjoy the wood stove sauna and the water bath with a view. There are no private houses around, so you can listen to music and watch movies loudly. Because it is a house located deep in the mountains, we take the best measures, but in the warm season, insects come out. It snows a lot in winter. In autumn, fallen leaves dance. You will also need to adjust the wood stove fire yourself. It's not an easy house to live in, but we promise you a great view and experience. Enjoy cooking with a counter kitchen with a view, condiments and cooking utensils. (There is no equipment for BBQ)

After procuring fresh ingredients locally, move to the Rock Forest, park your car in the parking lot, and go up the stairs to bring the ingredients to the hearth space. You won't see any other people. It is 60 minutes by Shinkansen from Tokyo to Karuizawa, and 30 minutes by car from Karuizawa Station, so you can work in the morning and take a half-day off in the afternoon, for example.
