Cottonwood Cove is a cozy property and cabin located on beautiful Lake Amelia, near Villard, MN. We are less than 20 miles SE of Alexandria, 8 miles from Glenwood MN. This space is great for a quiet getaway with family or friends. Tie the boat up to the dock, enjoy swimming, fishing, and breathtaking views. The original small log cabin is Amish built and relocated to our lake lot from a local Christmas tree farm. We added on just over 1000 sq ft to the cabin to complete Cottonwood Cove.

Treehouse (LOTR) Stargazer Skycabin

Our LOTR themed treehouse, along with our LOTR Wizard's Cottage, have been described as a "love letter to Tolkien himself." We have been featured on PBS and WJON radio. Joan and I live on the acreage, about 200 ft. from the Wizard's Cottage and very far from the treehouse, which is located on the back part of the acreage. It has a fenced-in portion that makes up the Shire Garden. Down the hill is our nod to Mordor. Feel free to visit and dare to open the "Mor Do(o)r." Diversity is welcome.

The Maynard Cabin, a Civil War era log cabin

The Maynard Log Cabin was erected by a homesteader after the civil war. We have moved and restored it and made it available for rent. It is off the grid, but it has a complete functioning kitchen, wood stove and sitting room downstairs. There are two antique beds with new mattresses upstairs. There is no electricity but the cabin is furnished with kerosene lanterns. The bathroom facilities consist of wash basins and outhouse. The cabin is surrounded by 40 acres of woods and meadows.

We are always happy with our stay! Tony and Brenda are the best a+++++++++++ We love the holder with restaurant menus. We enjoy watching the pelicans, little chipmunks running around. Outstanding farm home and property. House had great gathering spaces and the floor plan has the bedrooms spaced apart so there was some privacy. Jim helped get the grill going and Twyla stopped while we were getting settled in to be sure we were happy with our accommodations. We would highly recommend staying at the ranch.

The apartment was well-furnished and well-provisioned. It is about 30 minutes to the Perham trailhead of the Heart of the Lakes Trail and about 20 minutes to the Ashby trailhead of the Central Lakes State Trail. Nearby Battle Lake has several restaurants and shops. The Seven Sisters Prairie is about 15 minutes away.
