Tabitabi Kanoe Mitsu is a fully renovated, over 100-year-old Kyomachi house, located right next to Rokubo-Ritsu-Ji Temple, and is limited to one group per day. Looking from the entrance, you can see the garden spreading beyond the Yukimi Shoji sliding screen. It features a large palm tree. When you open the window from the living room, the semi-open-air bath directly connected to the garden invites guests to the best healing experience regardless of the season. The bathtub is made of Shigaraki-yaki, produced in a kiln in Shiga Prefecture. The far infrared effect warms the body to the core and makes it difficult for the bath to cool down. Why not relax from the daily grind while enjoying a drink and taking in the beautiful Japanese garden? Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. Great location! Nishiki market was a 2 minute walk. Family mart was just around the corner. Everything was close and convenient. We love the free refreshments and some nice gifts when we arrived. We love it so much we’re already planning my next trip. LOL

Great place to stay, close to Kyoto station. The fact that it's a short distance to popular neighbourhoods is no problem as there is a direct bus and subway (and Kyoto is great to explore by bike). The accommodation is beautiful in Japanese style, and easy to find with the proper instructions. The authentic bathroom is a great touch.

Amazing place off a quiet street in the middle of Kyoto. The home was very spacious for us and had everything we needed and more to use as a home base. It was ~10 minute walk from Kyoto station and had nearby bus and subway stations. The bathroom felt like a spa and the outdoor area was super private. Fantastic Location and Authentic Experience! This traditional Japanese home was the perfect base for our family of five in Kyoto. We had plenty of space for both our luggage and sleeping arrangements. The house is ideally located—just a 3–4 minute walk to Shijo Station and about 6–8 minutes to Nishiki Market. The hosts were excellent with communication and offered thoughtful local recommendations. Staying here gave us a genuine sense of how locals live in a classic Japanese setting. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic Kyoto experience!!

We stayed at Shi's place as a group of 7 and absolutely loved it! It was a beautiful space and we loved the Japanese style architecture - it truly enhanced our Kyoto experience. A highlight of the space was the common living room area as well as the small bar. It made for a great space to have a night in with friends.

Very convenient location in the Arashiyama neighborhood. Only a 6 minute walk to shops, the bamboo forest, or the larger neighborhood train station. There is a smaller train track right behind the house, and we were worried about noise, but it turns out those trains don't run at night. Very responsive owners/ management- it was a great stay.
