Places to stay in Sado

Places to stay in Sado
It is a private accommodation located in the central part of Sado Island where the beautiful Japanese original landscape is spreading. It is the best place to relax yourself, releasing stress from the hustle and bustle of the city. Looking at the view of the Satoyama spreading in front of my house, please enjoy here as if you are in your home.
The living room on the first floor is a shared space with our host, but please feel free to relax. Also, a bar is on the first floor, and for those who can drink sake, we went to bar opening school and we make cocktails! I am looking forward to having lots of stories while drinking alcohol with the guests. For those who wish, as experiences, I will also teach Bar Master's experience(exstra charge) and how to make delicious sake!
●Tourist Spot · Mysenji Temple: It is about 30 minutes by car and you can see beautiful autumn leaves in autumn. · Red clay pottery experiences: It is an experience of about 1 hour. It is approximately a 40-minute drive from the accommodation. (It is a valuable pottery experience using rare red soil which human national treasure also admits.)
  • It's a beautiful place and I strongly recommend people to stay here! The view is great from the home! It's like Bali in Japan. 😍 It's a really serene town during Winter and I love how hospitable the host are. We had the opportunity to try their fruits and sake! It's delicious and sweet! 😋 If you are looking for a getaway, visit them! ❤️❤️ I will definitely come back in Summer or autumn!

  • It was a place full of nature and easy to spend. My bedroom is awakened by the sun. I also wanted to use it when I went to Sado.

  • Amazing stay in Sado. You will need a car to get around on the island, as there is no bus stop nearby. The hosts are amazing, always extremely friendly and talkative. We got great tips for special sightseeingn Sado and the communication was great at all times.

    Dominik2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house is neat clean, in a decentralized position from the port the connections are not easy and to get to the house you have to make the road. Yuji picked us up and took us back to the start, with great kindness. The room is lofted so there is a rather steep staircase to do if you have walking problems. The bathroom is below separated from the shower, all very clean. The use of the kitchen is possible with good freedom, taking into account the Japanese discretion. I recommend it as long as you know or you can juggle with local vehicles or have the car

  • The host is very friendly! The rooms are beautiful and comfortable!

  • Mrs. Kumiko and Mrs. Yuji were very kind and friendly people and were able to stay comfortably. I remember that I had a drink together at night and talked about each other's daily life, Sado and so on and had a good time. Also, the starry sky seen from the outside of the house was really beautiful and impressed. Also, when visiting Sado, I would like to stay by all means! Thank you very much.

  • I stayed for two nights on a couple's trip. It was a very nice building that made good use of the old construction materials, and I was able to spend it very comfortably. It is also possible to tell the recommended spots on the island in detail. For the second night, we made dinner together and baked fish in the hearth and had a good time. We recommend staying for at least 2 nights and spending time slowly!

    Junki2019-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nice space & nice host family that is not enough with 5 stars. I went out to a supermarket near my house and made locally made fish and vegetables with my host family. It was incredibly delicious. I can not taste it in Tokyo. When I traveled to Sado next time, it was a guest house full of happiness that I want to miss again.

  • It was our pleasure to be able to stay at such historical place. Erina and Teddy were very nice to us and we had a great time staying at their place.

  • The great place with it’s phantastic, extraordinary, warmhearted and openminded host makes an incredible stay at Sadoga-shima. Highly reommend to get to know Erina and her house, her friends and the Island.

    Sebastian2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • I really enjoyed the stay. It is really awesome house, but very clean. Because it's old, it could be a little bit cold at night, especially in winter. The host was amazing, she is so kind and she helped me out a lot. I'll definitely stay here next time.

    동준2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Erina’s house Cho-zo is a Ninja house! The layout feels authentic and traditional yet with all the mod cons to ensure you are comfortable. She is a terrific host with loads of local knowledge and will go to great lengths to attend to your every need.

    Zoe2019-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • I was able to spend a luxurious time in a very large and historic house. I enjoyed delicious fish and Sado sake. Thank you very much!

    真也2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • The ceiling is high and thick pillars and beams remain in the impression. The purpose was to participate in the triathlon tournament, but I was able to spend it with ease. I am grateful for the seasonal food and attention to detail.

    寿博2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • A house that is very firm and has a long history. The cleaning was very good and I was very comfortable. I got homemade breakfast too ... I was soaked in my body. Homemade vegetables and rice were all delicious. This time I will go with my cat-loving and fishing-loving friends to repeat!

    Ikumi2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Erina-San was a great host, the house itself is breathtakingly beautiful and the island absolutely magical. We made the mistake of not checking whether there was aircon installed, but that was our mistake.

  • A very clean house with a very beautiful garden. When I was walking in the morning garden, I could hear the scream of a guise and felt the comfort of a city. This is a hotel that I would definitely recommend when you go to Sado with a large number of about 10 people.

  • Taoyuan was the best! Maki and everyone in the family were very warm and kind people. Thank you very much for your help. The room and the bath were large and clean. Breakfast and dinner were also delicious. When I arrived at Sado with no plan, I happened to attend the Ogi Port Festival. It was a great experience to play drums with Kodo Taiko experts. When the weather is nice, you can see the stars from outside the Taoyuan Garden. The dog is also very cute! Sado was so much fun that I added one night. That night, they came to Sawata's conveyor belt sushi. Thank you for everything! I will come again! I had a fantastic time staying with Maki and her family in their guest house. They were incredibly welcoming and Maki went out of her way to make my experience as enjoyable as possible. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and spacious. dinner which were both delicious. I arrived in Sado with no plan whatsoever and it turned out that I had come on the weekend of the end-of-summer festival (called Ogi Minato Matsuri). festival I had the opportunity to play Taiko with the world famous Taiko group Todō which was a great experience. Tōkaen is great for stargazing and on a clear night it's possible to see the milky way.The family dog is also very cute and hangs out in the car park. I initially planned on staying for one night at Tōkaen and one night in Ogi but I ended up staying for a second night at Tōkaen because I was having so much fun. sushi) restaurant in Sawada. Thank you for everything!

  • Maki's place was great to stay in, her and her family were so kind and welcoming as were the other guests. Oh! And the food is fantastic.

    Christopher2019-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place is really value for money for what it was charged with big room, and adequate hot bath. Arranging the vegetarian meal for ankita (my wife) was the most special gesture done by Maki. The place is off the main bus route, but the host comes to pick you up if you communicate in time.

    Ashish2019-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was the best.

    Kentaro2018-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • I spent one night at Sado Island on my way home and had a wonderful experience staying at Maki’s place! Maki stayed in touch with me early on to make sure she could meet me at the right bus stop to drive up to their inn. After a long day of sightseeinng and travel, it was great to be able to use their bath facilities which were included. The futon bed was very comfy and kept me nice and warm! Free coffee and tea were welcome amenities as well. While I was only there for one night, I definitely would have loved to stay longer and enjoy the surroundings and nearby trail next time.

小木の町中にある戦前の建物です。 古い木の匂いや低い天井など趣きがあります。 This is located in the center of Ogi.
和室です。隣室と襖、障子戸で仕切られています。プライバシーの配慮をお願いします。 ドミトリーになります、男女の人数をお伝えください。 個室、一棟貸しきりをご希望の場合ご相談ください。 This room is a traditional tatami room with a futon (a futon is a traditional Japanese bed that is laid on the ground before sleeping.) - The house is very intimate, with traditional fusuma screens separating the rooms. This is shared room. Please tell me the number of people of man/woman.
小木港より徒歩10分 近くにスーパー、食堂があります 温泉「おぎの湯」まで徒歩11分、「かもめ荘」まで16分 ATMが使用できるのは 第四銀行、郵便局、農協になります There are a super market, fish seller, restaurants, and other various stores. If you're up for a longer walk, there are many sights within walking distance, including Yajima-Kyojima (1.8km from the house ), and Shukunegi (3.7km from the house). There are two onsen (hot spring) Ogi no Yu costs ¥500 for entry (Closed Wednesdays). Kamome sou costs ¥420. An “Eco-dattchari", which is an electric bicycle, can be rented from the tourist information building, near the ferry terminal (2 hrs ¥500). You can also rent a car, or buy a day bus pass. Please be aware: - There is no convenient store in Ogi, so it is best to bring cash from the mainland if you have an international card. You can get money from the post office in a pinch. - Also, the buses don't come super often, so plan to have a laid-back pace for your trip. I recommend three or more days in Sado if you want to see a lot without a car.
  • Very kind and very good host. The house can have a good time in a nice atmosphere.

  • A guesthouse full of hospitality. I was impressed by the clean and carefully maintained environment of the quaint facility. The host also provided tourist information and information on nearby shops in an easy-to-understand manner. Personally, I was pleased to accept the check-in & out and the outing and return times during the stay were outside the range of common sense. In addition, I was very grateful for the details during my stay.

  • Fantastic little spot near the beach! It is a short walk from the Sawata Bus Stop, the supermarket and a Lawson convenience store. There is a hotel named Yahata that will allow public use of their Onsen. It’s accessible from three different bus lines at the Sawata Bus Stop. The room is on the second floor. The first floor has a living room, bath and toilet. The hosts live near by, not on site. Karin and Youshi are fantastic hosts! They take great interest in their guests visit and well being. We sat and drank tea while I showed them photos from my trips to Komoro and Alaska. They loved hearing about my travels. Do not miss this opportunity to stay at their bnb.

  • A wonderful tiny house directly on the beachside - very stylish and comfortable! かりん is a lovely host and was very kind to pick us up for check-in. There‘s a road in front of the house, but it doesn’t bother us that much. Very recommendable!

    頼孝2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing room and view! The room was sparkling clean and very comfortable for sleeping, reading, and relaxing. I would say it was much larger than I expected based on the photos. The main window looks out over the ocean and a beautiful sandy beach. It is also conveniently located about a 3-minute walk from the Sawada Bus Terminal, where you can catch buses to any of Sado's famous sights. Karin was a wonderful host and very quick to respond to messages. Thank you for letting us stay at your place!

    Megan2019-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Karin and Yoshio were very flexible hosts and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. They speak English well and also run cafes on Sado Island that you should check out too. They responded very quickly to all messages. Their place couldn't be any closer to the water and the view from the room was really great. The room had to twin beds and a small sofa with air conditioning. There were two large windows with let in a lot of light (with good blinds if you want block out the morning light). There was room to park a car if you rent one while on the island.

  • We spent 3 nights at Erina's place and had a wonderful time. The house is a big beautiful old traditional house, except for the sparkling new modern bathroom. There's a professional kitchen you can use freely, and if you're lazy Erina is a fantastic cook. She was great at always making us feel welcome and comfortable. As a bonus, the kitties are adorable and super cuddly. Make sure to visit them in their shed!

  • I do not have enough words to describe the kindness and the attention of Erika and Teddy her friend. I was like at home. A unique and very deep experience. They are friends who will remain in my soul and my heart forever

    Nicolas2020-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • First off, The house is beautiful and very big. It has everything you need and with old style charm in spades. The property is up in the mountains and is in a gorgeous area. Plus there are 10 cats with their own house on the property! The real jewel of this place is Erina, the host. She isn't renting rooms out just to make a buck. She's passionate about making her home a place where all can come and feel welcome. She took very good care of me and the other guests who were also there during my stay. She's a pretty damn good cook too. I loved every meal she prepared for me. She puts a lot of heart and love into her place so you have a cherished experience that lasts a lifetime. I am glad I stayed there and honored to now be her friend. I cannot recomend it enough.

    Carl2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was possibly the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Erina really goes above and beyond the duties of a host! Not knowing much Japanese rendered me pretty helpless on Sado island but she really helped a lot by giving great recommendations, helping book reservations, driving me to the bus stop, and even figuring out which buses to take where since the public transit is all in Japanese. Also I would highly recommend booking a fishing trip while there. They have a fishing guide who also happens to be an excellent sashimi chef and can prepare whatever fish you catch for lunch/dinner!

    Jesse2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Erina has a beautiful home with an interesting story behind it, that was an absolute treat to stay in. She provided me with lots of tasty food and a comfortable tatami mat room to sleep in when I wasn't out and about. Erina has lots of local knowledge too, so it made exploring the island much easier, plus she helped me get around the island with lifts and advice on where to rent bikes. Overall, I had a great time and I would highly recommend staying at hers if you want to stay within the walls of a charming 100 year+ old Japanese home - much better than your standard hotel.

    Ed2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Erina is a wonderful guest. Her house is typically Japanese and absolutely stunning, perfectly clean and practical. It is well located in Sado, isolated and near the rice fields. Erina is full of little attentions and really nice. When we had trouble renting a car, Erina proposed to pick us up at the bus station. Finally, Erina is a wonderful cook, you should definitely try her sashimi!

    Victor2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • It is a nostalgic old rural house that goes back to summer vacation. Rather than looking for the latest equipment or complete privacy equipment, I think that it is an inn where you can enjoy communication with other travelers and hosts by surrounding the hearth. In addition, it is convenient because it is about 3 km from Sadada Beach where the venues for long ride Sado, open water and triathlon are held.

    吉田2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you very much to Elina. The facilities were managed very neatly around the water and I was able to spend a pleasant time. During the supper time for adults, people from various places put in and the sake bottles became gorgeous all at once (laughs) If you visit Sado again, you will definitely choose Nagakura! In addition, since the room partition is only 襖, it is not suitable for those who are nervous about sound and security. (Since my home was a type I didn't care at all, there was no problem)

  • Staying at Erina’s guesthouse was really our best Airbnb experience ever! We stayed there for six nights and we didn’t want to leave at the end of our stay! The setting in the rice paddies is beautiful and rustic. We got to experience what it is like to live in a traditional Japanese house in the countryside. There are three tatami rooms for rent of different sizes, depending on how many people in your group. We are a family of 3. Our seven year old daughter had an amazing time playing with Erina’s niece of the same age who was also visiting for the Obon holiday. We rented a car and explored much of Sado island. It is such a beautiful place of unspoiled nature, important historical monuments and a feeling of old Japan. We went swimming at a few beautiful beaches. The water is very clean and calm and warm. Erina is an amazing cook. We enjoyed her breakfasts very much and ate dinner there also a couple of times. The hamburger restaurant nearby called Tomato & Onion is very tasty. Many Sado restaurants require reservations. Erina can help with that. Having a car definitely helps explore Sado. We rented one in Ryotsu right near the port. Erina welcomed us like a part of the family. We met her mother and brother and lit fireworks in the garden for the summer festivities. We enjoyed talking with the other guests. The bathroom is very clean and modern. We would love to return to Sado.

  • It was a bigger and better house than I could imagine! There is hearth and storehouse, too and feels the history considerably, but bath and restroom are reformed, and amenity was prepared and was not inconvenient. The rice was very delicious and the hotel was full of hospitality.

  • I traveled for the first time in Sado. I was able to move very warmly. The children were very happy to be in the family. I was sorry for the next visitor because the children were too noisy. Hospitality was astonishing. I also taught nearby delicious sake and I went to buy it on my way home. The kids were also excited about the sea kayak that I taught. I am very grateful. Recommended where you can unwind. The water around was very nicely renovated and it was comfortable. It is one of the places I want to visit again. thank you for helping me. Thank you very much.

  • Although it was an old private house in Sado Island, the house was literally old but very spacious and tasteful. There was a feeling of cleanliness around the water and was very satisfied. I would like to use it if there is another opportunity.

  • This is a typical old Japanese house, and as such, quite cold in the winter. Still, I was prepared for this, and there was a space heater plus a hot-air AC in the bedroom, so no problem at all. I imagine in the summer it's very nice and cool. My check-in experience was not typical, as I arrived on the island rather early, and Yuko happened to recognize me wandering around town and picked me up with her car. The house itself was clean and full of charming little details, as well as all the necessary amenities (except WiFi, which the listing states clearly, so if you didn't get a travel sim you'll have to use the free WiFi at the tourist information center down the road.) Yuko was a great host, and I recommend this place very much!

  • Yuko's inn is very beautiful and the atmosphere is very special. Yuko is a kind, gentle and active person. On the first day, he took me to a small dance festival in the neighborhood. Yuko asked every day about sightseeing plans for Sado Island the next day and recommended a lot. In the evening, I talked to Yuko-san for many adventures of the day. Thanks to Yuko, I have explored various parts of Sado Island. I really like Ogi City and Sado Island, and I want to travel to Sado Island again. Thank you for the meal! Thank you very much!

This is located in the center of Ogi. The house is about 80 years old.
This room is a traditional tatami room with a futon (a futon is a traditional Japanese bed that is laid on the ground before sleeping.) - The house is very intimate, with traditional fusuma screens separating the rooms.you can not lock the room from outside. Please manage valuables by yourself. This is shared room. Please tell me number of people of male/female.
Here you can find a super market, fish seller, restaurants, and other various stores. Onsen (hot springs) Ogi-no-Yu ¥500 Open 13:00-21:00 Closed Wednesday 10mins walking from iro Kamome sou ¥420 Open 10:00-21:00 15 mins walking from iro Around Ogi If you're up for a longer walk, there are many sights within walking distance, including Yajima-Kyojima (1.8km from iro ), and Shukunegi (3.7km from iro). An “Eco-dattchari", which is an electric bicycle, can be rented from the tourist information building, near the ferry terminal (2 hrs ¥500). You can also rent a car, or buy 1-3day bus pass.

  • One of the most special places we stayed in Japan. Very private, romantic, and traditional inn, with high quality equipment (amazing bath, mattress, hand picked local teas, coffees, and soaps). The communication was excellent, very welcoming, and they helped us find food and transport when we were stuck due to a typhoon! Also arranged amazing breakfasts to be delivered from a local restaurant. Highly recommend.
