Welcome to Old Manor Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Old Manor Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage that dates all the way back to the 17th century and sits peacefully in the large grounds of the owner's manor house, which is also run as a small B&B facility. The cottage is located on a quiet lane in the small village of Halford, on the north-eastern edge of the Cotswolds, surrounded by stunning countryside. There is a shop and a pub in the village, and the famous Cotswold market towns of Chipping Campden and Moreton-in-Marsh are both within 10 miles, with their wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants. William Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon is also less than 10 miles away, and many other attractions are within easy reach, including Warwick Castle, Blenheim Palace and Oxford, as well as the many stately homes and gardens located in the north Cotswolds. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Old Manor Cottage is a beautiful thatched property that sits in the grounds of the owner’s manor house. The front door opens into the hallway, with the following rooms on the ground floor: Living room: This lovely room has exposed beams, an oak door and a roaring open fire. There is a two seater sofa, two comfy arm chairs, and a Freeview TV with integrated DVD player, plus an iPod dock with radio and CD player; Kitchen/dining room: A well equipped kitchen, which includes an electric cooker with four ring electric hob, fridge, freezer, slimline dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a combined washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a glass dining table, which comfortably seats three; Cloakroom: Contains a toilet. Bedroom 2 is accessed via this room, making bedroom 1 better suited for a child; Bedroom 2: Accessed via bedroom 1, this is a lovely dual aspect room, which has beautiful views across the gardens and contains a king size bed; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower attachment, heated towel rail, toilet and wash basin. The cottage sits in three acres of beautiful grounds, and guests have their own private lawned area within the grounds, including a summer house and a table with four chairs and two sun loungers. There is a well maintained tennis court in the grounds, which guests can use by prior arrangement with the owner, and the grounds run down to the River Stour, where fishing is available. Off street parking is available outside the cottage for two cars.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.
  • My wife, our 8 month old and I really enjoyed our few days at this cottage nestled in the cotswold countryside. The value for money is exceptional! The kitchen and bathroom have underfloor heating which is so nice when making the first cup of tea of the day; and the log burner in the lounge really adds to the cosy atmosphere. Yes, the beams are low and the stairs are steep, but this just adds to the quirkiness of the cottage - plus I’m 6’ 3” and didn’t have much trouble. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer.

  • Highly recommended. Beautifully decorated with great amenities in all rooms. The home cooked bread was a great touch and cooked to perfection. Beds were extremely comfortable, great water pressure. It was a home away from home.

    Michael2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just wonderful! We stayed at the Coach House for 2 nights for my husbands birthday. The place is beautifully clean and beautifully furnished. We were met with fresh cut flowers and freshly baked bread and a view to die for. Such comfy beds and great amenities we didn’t really want to leave the cottage :-) we did though, and visited the local village and enjoyed a lovely walk in the nearby Little Rollright and saw the wonderful Rollright Stones. A fabulous stay and we all agreed we’d love to come back!

    Clare2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely quiet rural retreat. Clean and well looked after. We didn't need a lot of looking after but Bryony was very helpful for anything we asked.

    Paula2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our visit to Bryony’s place was just perfect. The house is big and while the main rooms are huge, they still remain cosy and warm. The main thing we noticed was the quiet, the house was incredibly peaceful and it was just what we needed for our break. Bryony had placed some wonderful little details that made us feel very welcome from the moment we stepped into the house. Bryony was also very quick to answer messages and questions. The place has plenty of room to park and is not to far from some wonderful locations (we drove into Stratford which took around 15-20 minutes). We have stayed in some wonderful AirBnBs over the last couple of years for holidays and when attending friends’ weddings but we both agreed that this has been our favourite AirBnB experience so far. Highly recommend. Thank you again Bryony for letting us stay!

    Matthew2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay at the Coach House. We travelled during a named storm and Bryony was very communicative regarding road conditions, both running up to and the day of our travels. Really helpful and quite indicative of the attention to detail throughout. A very comfortable place (nice and warm) in a tranquil setting. The little one definitely loved exploring the and seeing all of the animals. Hope to be back.

The Annexe is a self-contained building set in the garden of our family house, The Granary. Oxhill is a quiet village on the edge of the Cotswolds, close to Stratford upon Avon, Banbury, Warwick and Leamington. Ideally situated for visiting The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the stunning Cotswold villages of Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the Wold, Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton and Bourton-on-the-Water, among others. Oxhill has an excellent pub (The Peacock) and is a great base for walking.
The Annexe at The Granary is a recently-renovated self-contained one-bedroom apartment on two floors. On the ground floor is a well-equipped galley kitchen with oven, hob and fridge; sitting area with sofa bed, TV and small dining table; and a shower-room. Upstairs on the first floor overlooking the garden is the bedroom, consisting of two single beds and a chest of drawers (please note the bathroom is on the ground floor). The sofa bed in the sitting area could be used as an additional double bed by arrangement. The Annexe is also available during the week by arrangement.
Local pubs & eating out •The Peacock, is the village pub and has a good selection of beers and does great food at reasonable prices. It’s a 5 minute walk – turn left at the top of Rouse Lane and keep going till you get there. There are other good pubs a bit further afield: •The Royal Oak in Whatcote (1.5 miles away) has an incredible menu and is well worth a visit, but you may need to book. It has an interesting selection of drinks and bar snacks in a lovely traditional building. •The Chequers, in Ettington, (5 minute drive on the road to Stratford) is another good place to eat. •Stratford has many great restaurants catering for all tastes. If you want some advice about a specific area, let us know and we’ll share our knowledge! Shops •There are well-stocked village shops in both Tysoe (also has a nice tearoom) and Ettington (both 5 minutes away) for basics. Shipston-on-Stour has a bigger shop, or Stratford has all the main high street names.
  • I'm so glad I found this place to stay for my few days around Cotswold, the location is fantastic and you have some scenic walks close by. The accommodation is super clean, smells nice, and excellent comfy beds. Sarah and Ed leave some food for you to make your own breakfast, and let us use their phone when we had a situation (great hospitality). A detailed guide is left for you of local attractions and info to enhance your stay. We'd stay here again in a heart beat! ...Oh, and the surrounding beauty is quintessential English countryside, enjoy!

    Kelly2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute jewel of a place. Hostess net us as soon as she was able, as did Alfie ( he's so cute!). Sarah was very helpful with suggestions on where to eat, but make sure to make reservations to eat at The Peacock in Oxhill. The house was perfect and spotless, check-in a dawdle and the extra touches were a treat. Definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. Will be back if ever in the area.

    Jamie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Well appointed accommodation, well stocked provisions for breakfast and good pub within easy walking distance. Location close to various NT properties and historical sites.

    David2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a quaint, relaxing, comfortable, quiet, pleasant experience. Perfect "home away from home" to see the Cotswolds. Sarah and Ed make your stay perfect and more with little delicious extras for your breakfast. Do check out the wonderful village church and have a meal at the local Peacock eatery. We will be back but will stay longer next time.

  • Had a lovely weekend stay at The Stables. Toasty warm, tasteful accommodation in quiet rural surroundings. We enjoyed first-class hospitality from Caroline. I was visiting the area with my mum to take her to visit old friends, so the downstairs sofabed was ideal for me, as was having a non en-suite bathroom! In all a very relaxing stay - and somewhere we hope to stay again.

    Oliver2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely little place. The Den is stylish and fully equipped with everything you’d need for a long or short stay. Breakfast items were provided, cereal, bread, yogurt, juice, butter and jam. Towels and shower essentials provided too. Lovely little gastro-pub a 30 sec walk away, food was nice- service left a lot to be desired though- obviously this has nothing to do with Louise. Sky tv and Wi-fi provided for downtime. Although attached to the main house, we had a lot of privacy and space, although I knew if there were any issues ( there was none) I could approach next door with ease. Thankyou for a lovely break away Louise, wish we could have stayed longer and Thankyou Emma for the warmest of welcomes.

    Naomi2020-03-04T00:00:00Z

Wonderfully clean and a warm welcome from our hosts with caring touches such as providing a fan as the weather was so warm. All we needed for a continental breakfast was in the fridge so that we could take our time in the morning. A great place to stay.

  • We had a lovely visit and can't wait to stay again. Very clean and tidy beds very comfortable had everything we needed

  • We had a great time at the Cottage. I came there with my family to attend my graduation at the University of Warwick. We were 7 people in total. There was plenty of space and also enough bathrooms, so that we had our privacy and never had to wait a long time. The location is great for trips to Warwick, Leamington Spa, Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Birmingham. We also went to London once. The house is super clean and looks so charming. I would highly recommend this place! Thank you for the lovely stay.

    Sofia2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is an outstanding property for a family gathering. Plenty of showers & toilets - a real asset for a family! The crockery, cutlery & glass wear & pans were in excellent condition! The corner shop was excellent - they seemed to have everything! Great for those last minute things. Everyone in the village was super friendly too! We would definitely use this property again & the company running it are very efficient & helpful

    Jessica2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway. It was absolutely sparkling clean and really easy to use everything. It was spacious for a large group, we never felt cramped at all. Information regarding the property was very accurate and I always felt able to contact someone should I need help. The village is very sweet and we took a trip to Blenheim Palace which was a great day out, especially as the weather wasn't great. I really recommend this property for a weekend break but I wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you.

The Chalet is above 4 garages in the grounds of the main house. The walls are covered with wood giving it a feeling of a Austrian Chalet. The space is generous. Outside through a gate there is a patio area with a wood fired pizza oven and big green egg BBQ. We sit in 33 acres that you are free to explore.
We are a short drive away from many attractions including; Compton Valley House and art gallery, it has an adventure playground. Gaydon heritage motor museum, Stratford butterfly farm, Mary Ardens Farm, Tudor Farm, Hatton Country World. Lots of National Trust Properties. Blenheim Palace, Charlotte Park, Stratford on Avon, miles of paths for walking. Country Parks, Ryton pools, Burton Dassett Hills, Warwick and Kenilworth Castles, Cadbury World, royal Shakespeare Theatre, Leamington Spa for shopping, Bicester Village. Our local village of Kineton has a lovely coffee shop which serves coffee and croissants most days. • Perfect! We had such a lovely time staying in this beautiful place. We were welcomed by a bottle of Prosecco and a box of chocolates to see the New Year in, and found everything to be very high quality, very clean and well thought through. The shower is quite literally the best I’ve ever had. The bathroom has all sorts of extras in case you’ve forgotten anything. Iszy was very welcoming, check in extremely easy. The kitchen is well stocked with all the pots and pans you need to make food. There’s a fridge, washing machine and dishwasher - luxury! Thank you, Iszy, and I hope we’ll be back!

    Will2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Anex is a fabulous living space above the garages of Kineton Grange Farm. It is a busy farm (with beautiful horses) in the Warwickshire countryside so prepare for muddy shoes in the driveway. Iszy herself was absolutely charming and a most helpful host despite being rushed off her feet when we turned up earlier than expected. Would be happy to stay here again. (Directions: Look out for the large name sign for the farm at the end of the driveway as it’s easy to intrude on the neighbours’ by mistake)

    Ally2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend this space. It was stylish, clean and very comfortable and cosy! It had absolutely everything we needed and we loved our stay!

    Katie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z

This is a truly beautiful spacious barn conversion, in the Cotswold countryside, suited for a large family or a group get together. This property is 7 miles/ 13 minutes drive form Jaguar Land rover and Aston Martin so its ideal for the short/long term employee or sub contractor that would require a 1 night stay or more. It is also perfect if you have a family that they wish to join you. Pets allowed. We have a safe key box so the access is easy and we will provide the code on the day of rental.
The village is in the heart of the countryside. Fantastic country walks and amazing views. Please read the below the information for the local towns. Visit Stratford-upon-Avon introduces you to a market town with more than 800 years of history, containing not only many buildings that survive today and would have been familiar to Shakespeare, but also a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure. Warwick is a town on the River Avon, in England’s West Midlands region. It’s known for the medieval Warwick Castle, founded by William the Conqueror. The Collegiate Church of St. Mary has a tower with city views and a Norman crypt. The timber-framed buildings of 14th-century Lord Leycester Hospital cluster by the city’s West Gate. The St. John’s House Museum is housed in a Jacobean mansion with gardens
Excellent footpaths through the Cotswold countryside.
  • If you're looking for a quiet place away in the countryside, without disturbance from any neighbours, then I'd highly recommend this place. Response times are extremely fast from Claire and check-in/check-out was extremely easy too.

  • Lovely accommodation in remote countryside. Lovely house very accommodating and clean & Claire very responsive when contacted. If wet weather would recommend "wellies" as the yard is working stables and fills up with puddles very quickly! Would highly recommend the Rose & Crown in Ratley for dinner. Thank you & hopefully we will return next year.

  • The tea house is little cottage with very modern and warm interior. Pip welcomed us with fresh milk, bread and eggs which is a very lovely touch. If you're planning on staying a few days you have everything you will need to self cater (oven and hob). There are walking paths off the doorstep if you like hiking through the fields and there is also a fantastic Indian restuarant not too far up the road as well. Highly recommended for a weekend getaway.

  • Pip and Charles’s place is situated in a secluded spot in the country side which is perfect for getting away for a couple days. Great for long walks with plenty of nice villages and pubs to visit within walking distance. The house is spacious for two people with a good kitchen and living area with great views. Everything was clean and stylishly presented. Pip and Charles are very hospitable and have plenty of recommendations for the local area; they were flexible with our check out and even bought us round some sugar! Would definitely recommend.

  • I visited with my girlfriend for a long weekend and we can highly recommend staying at The Old Tea Rooms; it’s cosy and welcoming, with everything you could possibly need inside, it genuinely felt like a home away from home and if we visit the Cotswolds again we’d stay here again in a heartbeat - as nothing else could come close to how much we enjoyed our stay. And to top it off, Pip is a fantastic, accommodating host and was easily contactable throughout our stay. 10/10!

  • We stayed at Peach Cottage from 28 December 2019 to 1 January 2020 and had an absolutely lovely time. Carl & Dawn were fantastic hosts - very communicative, gave tips for the area and left us a lovely hamper with bread, milk, eggs, bacon, butter and biscuits for our arrival which was a lovely touch. The cottage itself is lovely - three good size bedrooms, a modern bathroom and a lovely big living space. It had all the amenities we needed for our stay and was good value for money. The cottage is well situated to drive to Stratford-upon-Avon and the Cotswolds - we did both during our stay. There are also some nice walks in the area and a couple of good pubs. We went to the Royal Oak (which is about a 40 second walk from the cottage) a couple of times (including for dinner on New Year’s Eve which was DELICIOUS) and to the Peacock which is about a 30 minute walk away. I would highly recommend staying here. Thanks very much Carl & Dawn for a great stay!

    Sarina2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful corner of the world. Peach Cottage has anything a travelling family could ask for. Dawn and Carl left some personal touches, such as bathroom stools and nightlights for the kids, which mean a lot to a parent who has packed for two kids! There are no takeaway shops in town (shop on the way in), but I was able to bake fresh scones in the kitchen and there were ripe blackberries in the yard. We would be very lucky to stay here again.

    Chelsea2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in Whatcote! Thanks Carl & Dawn for your hospitality and the tips for London & what to do in the surrandings. We enjoyed staying in this comfortable home with the lovely garden(with a lot of birds)! Highly recommended, best wishes family Lohschelder (from the Netherlands)

    Hilda2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you very much, Carl & Dawn's reception, the house, as he introduced, is very clean and quiet, very suitable for self-driving tour. The owner is a very energetic couple and the living facilities are very well equipped. The only thing that needs improvement is that we need a clothes dryer. The weather we go in summer changes very quickly. It often rains. No dryer has a big impact on us. The rest are great! I highly recommend

  • I booked this lodge for a surprise night away for my boyfriend. We were both blown away by how stunning it was. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. It’s a stay I know we will always remember and talk about with lovely memories. In our room were special touches such as a card, board games that I asked for & cookies. The bed was really comfy, the room was clean and the interior was modern. Onsite is a lounge, bar, restaurant and gym. You can even have massages and facials in your room if you wish! I’d definitely go back.

  • Fantastic place. Lots of character. Location is perfect. The Property kept clean and beautifully decorated. The fire place was amazing. The host is very flexible and accommodating. Kitchen was fully equipped with modern appliances. I was most impressed with the shower(water pressure). Definitely coming back in summer to enjoy county life.

  • A great place to stay! We were a group of 6 adults, 4 kids and 2 babies and had plenty of space for relaxing and playing. The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable and the living space was perfect for our needs. We’d love to come back during the warmer months to make better use of the lovely outside space.

  • Absolutely fantastic stay, the house was incredible, local tips were spot on, as were the hosts, Gary was bloody helpful when our taxi didn’t arrive! We will be back.

  • A great stay in an incredible place with friendly hosts

  • Had a fantastic time at the Tysoe Manor. The main things that stood out were the enormous grounds, beautiful gardens and stunning views. My sons (11 and 14) loved spending time each day in the swimming pool and tennis courts. It was the best distraction from their electronics. When there was a little rain, there were plenty of board games in the living room to choose from. Gary was extremely helpful and informative. He spent time walking us around the grounds so we knew where to go for nice walks, he recommended good places to eat and very kindly got bikes and helmets out for my boys and even introduced my ever curious puppy to the resident sheep. She loved the close encounter! Their dogs Daisy and Rosie were very friendly and always happy to greet us.

This one-bedroom cottage combines rural charm with modern facilities. Distiller’s Cottage takes its name from the local cider making which took place there in times past. Interior features include exposed stonework and beams, wooden latch doors, a log burning stove and a stable door onto a patio. Outside, guests can enjoy peace and quiet and birdsong.
Distiller’s Cottage is located in the quiet Warwickshire village of Blackwell, just off The Fosse Way with Stratford upon Avon a few miles to the west, Warwick to the north and Cotswold villages like Moreton in Marsh, Chipping Campden and Stow on the Wold to the south. The cottage is ideally located for business or leisure. It accommodates one or two people. Pets by arrangement.
Blackwell is a small quiet village close to Shipston on Stour and Stratford upon Avon. An ideal choice for exploring the Cotswolds.
  • Awesome host! Super helpful and attentive :) Fire place was our favourite part of the cottage. Great place to get away from London and for the wedding we had at Blackwell Grange

    Vanessa2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely weekend at the cottage, liz was a great host, provided heated blankets because of the cold weather, milk bread and butter left in the kitchen, and enough wood supply to keep the log fire going in the evenings. She was even nice enough to let us stay later than checkout time. Issues with the lack of WiFi but other than that a lovely stay.

    Libby2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space & Liz was a great host!

    Katie2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely house with amenities and useful breakfast items provided. Lots of examples of things to do in the folder left by Liz; beautiful villages to go for walks; delicious bistro pub nearby; and lots of attractions etc in the area. Liz was even nice enough to offer for us to stay another day!

    Harriet2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage, stylishly renovated and modern but still with a cottage feel to it. Easy driving distance to many of Cotswold’s best sights, recommended

    Mattias2019-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage, beautifully and tastefully done. Great log burner with logs provided and other thoughtful little touches such as fresh milk, bread, tea and coffee all there on arrival. Great bedroom with huge bed! Very quiet village and great location for exploring the Cotswold/Stratford/surrounding areas. Liz as a host was very helpful with directions and instructions before arrival and a very helpful little manual left in the cottage with all info you would need. Had a great time.

    Caroline2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy, cute little cottage, perfect for the two of us and our dog. Very tranquil and peaceful setting - just what you need to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax in the beautiful countryside. The log burner was amazing, and we had a lovely stay. Very good information and contact from the host beforehand too.

  • Bridget and Digby’s house was stunning and set in a beautiful location. Lovely walks recommended by walk are on the doorstep. It was nice to have a separate annexe, meaning we had privacy, but also close enough to the kitchen for breakfast the next morning. Really nice shower. They were excellent hosts, incredibly accommodating and very friendly. The quality of the home cooked breakfast (with local and some home grown or made produce) was exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend.

    Jacques2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I enjoyed a night here. It was our first AirBnB experience and we really enjoyed it. The accommodation was great... very clean, comfy bed, a brilliant shower and all round just great. Bridget was very welcoming and an excellent host. Breakfast was amazing, super tastie and plenty of it. The location was lovely, very pretty area, a nice country pub in the village with good ale. We went on a local walk up to Edgehill which took about 2hrs 40mins and was a nice scenic route. All in all i'd happily stay there again and would recommend it to anyone.

    Gareth2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • What a brilliant place to stay! It was such a comfortable and clean room, with really thoughtful touches such a home-made biscuits, tea and coffee facilities, milk and cold water plus toiletries to help yourself to. The breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked to order and sourced with local ingredients. Bridget and Digby were delightful hosts, who gave freely of their local knowledge and time, to ensure our time with them was the best it could be. We had great chats with them over breakfast! We would thoroughly recommend this property.

  • Delightful, very comfortable place to stay in a charming village with lots to visit nearby. Bridget and Digby were very welcoming and provided an excellent breakfast.

  • Bridget and Digby were absolutely wonderful hosts. The room was private, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. It was perfect for attending a wedding nearby at Primrose Hill Farm. We thoroughly enjoyed our morning conversation at breakfast, which was a real treat - with locally sourced produce, fresh summer fruits, and tasty homemade preserves. Tips for the local area were great too, especially the nearby pubs and areas of interest. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and their company. A great place to base yourself if you’re visiting this part of the Cotswolds and we would definitely like to stay again.

  • One of the best places to stay in the U.K.!!!! Bridget and Digby's home is not only beautiful, but incredibly unique, showing off, not only their own personal sense of style, but also displaying the great beauty and character of the Cotswolds. We would greatly recommend staying in the Old Police House. It is charming and a perfect doorway through which to explore the English countryside.
