  • Amanda’s place is clean and comfortable, and was ideally situated for an overnight stay when we were in the area for a wedding. The wood burning stove ensured that we were lovely and warm, despite the cold weather. Amanda was extremely helpful and went out of her way to make us feel at home. Would definitely stay again.

My new listing is a beautifully converted shepherds hut in a Morrocan theme. The views are outstanding and include Rodney’s Pillar and the Berwyn mountains. The historic St Winifred’s well is a 2 minute walk down the lane which also leads on to the Shropshire Union canal. There are plenty of walks to the local pubs and canal side cafe. A stable that has been converted into a bathroom and kitchen/dining area which is all brand new. Hidden behind the stable is a hot tub looking at the fab views
This quirky hut gives you amazing views with a private area that you won’t want to leave. It’s close to Rodney’s Pillar, Llanrhaedre Waterfall, offa’s Dyke path, Lake Vyrnwy and many more scenic locations ( just ask). Oswestry in 5 mins in the car, Shrewsbury 15mins, Wrexham 25 mins & Chester just 40 mins away.. that’s if you want to leave this tranquil spot!
Close to the canal and St Winifred’s well
  • Such a lovely place, everything as expected!

    Tonia2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful place, my partner and I had a lovely stay, the hot tub was fun with the prettiest view in sight, second best view after my partner of course :) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend staying here! P.s the bed is super cozy ! - looking forward to returning!

    Zaheer2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely shepherds hut. It’s so cosy and really warm (even in windy March). Michelle provided lots of extra blankets too. The hot tub was amazing.. don’t forget to take flip flops though. Couldn’t recommend this place anymore.. it even had all the kitchen utensils and pots/pans you could need. Would love to return in the summer!

    Lucy2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting, great facilities, hot tub was a brilliant bonus. Michelle showed us around and completely respected our privacy. Lots of extra blankets for the cold nights. Nice little touch leaving us milk and tea. Will deffo stay again in the summer.

    Jill2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place. The host Michelle was fantastic from start to finish, very helpful with any questions I had. Left a note of local places to go. Little touches like that make the difference. The hut was gorgeous! Perfect little weekend get away.

Only a couple of hundred yards from the 12th century moated Whittington Castle, an attached wing but completely private to the main house: The West Wing has been recently renovated with high end interior designer finishes and consists of an entrance hall, a sauna room with separate shower, downstairs separate WC. A spacious living/dining room with knoll sofa and French doors opening onto a porch, overlooking the garden and has the added comfort of a multi fuel stove. Contemporary kitchen; situated upstairs. Off road parking, private yard with area for bycycles, large garden. Outdoor seating areas.
Charming village and picturesque location, 2 miles east of Oswestry. 5 minutes from Orthopaedic hospital. It is just 20 minutes from Shrewsbury (A5), and 35 minutes from Chester (A483). When approaching Oswestry stay on the A483 or A5 and do not turn for Oswestry Town. Take the A495 signposted for Ellesmere off the Oswestry bypass and continue into Whittington over the railway level crossing. At the T-junction turn left staying on the A495. The property, Gablecroft is on the left few hundred yards past the Castle The village itself has all you need including a local shop with postal services, two great eating houses: Ye Olde Boote Inn and The White Lion Local Attractions Whittington International Chamber Music Festival May, yearly. Whittington Castle Re-enactments and History Days. Old Oswestry hillfort was first fortified three thousand years ago, and the views into Wales along Offa’s Dyke, just a couple of miles away, are stunning. At popular family attraction Park Hall Farm a mile away a set of trenches has been recreated to represent the trench warfare of WW1 and other conflicts. Pistyll Rhaeadr, a waterfall with a 240-foot drop off the edge of the nearby Berwyn Mountain range, is especially spectacular after heavy rain. Walking across the 126-foot high Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is not for the faint-hearted! And there are the castles of Chirk and Powis, and several Great Little Trains of Wales, all within half-an-hour’s drive.
  • Beautiful house and gardens - everything as described. The kitchen had everything I needed, the fire was glorious, the sauna a God send for my lingering winter cold, and the bed was just the right side of firm. I loved every minute of my stay!

    Jennifer2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Louise was the perfect host, making our stay a special one. The house is fantastic with lots of thoughtful touches and everything you need for a luxurious stay. The sauna especially was very welcome after a wet and windy walk. The perfect way to warm up! Strongly recommend a visit...you won't regret it! Thanks Stu

    Stu2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here with my wife for a 2 night stay met by Louise who made me feel very welcome. Showed me around the house which is in a Victorian Decor, very authentic with some fantastic features. Everything is there by your food to enjoy a great stay, walking distance are 2 pubs that do food, a local shop and even a chip shop. The house has a very good Sauna and if had nice little touches like a decanter of Sherry and 2 glasses. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who would like a nice Victorian House to stay in.

    Mike2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Louise was amazing! Really helpful and kind, especially when we got stuck in traffic and were running late. The place was beautiful and she gave us wonderful information on the local area. I've already recommended this place to others.

    Valerie2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous house, very clean with lovely interior decor and furnishings. The weather was not very good, so we could not enjoy the garden and we didn't use the sauna which was available for us to use. However, we did visit Oswestry, Gobowen and the local pubs which were all very welcoming and dog friendly. We can personally recommend the Bailey Head in Oswestry which serves great real ales and really is very dog friendly. Overall great accommodation in a lovely area.

    Paul2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • I could not recommend Gablecroft more highly. From the elegant and sumptuous decor of the rooms, to the wood-burning stove sauna and garden, your only dilemma might be whether to venture out at all! Of course if you do go out there is plenty to see and do. Chirk Castle was a favourite of ours, as was the canal and aqueducts only a short drive away. Whittington Castle is literally next door and makes for a nice walk before dinner. The hosts have provided plenty of information to this regard so take advantage of the wonderful surrounding area of Whittington and beyond and enjoy this wonderful house.

It was great to return home after work and be welcomed with friendly conversation and a homely atmosphere. I am due to return to Oswestry again and I will be booking with Chris again. Perfect hosts including the little doggo Milo

  • Veronica and Chris are really adorable and welcoming people. Courageous too because they accept to host a 6 month old baby! Veronica did not know what to do and what to do. We loved the little garden and the house, which is super cozy and beautifully decorated, not in an Ikea-kind-of-way, but with things that seem to have a story to tell. Veronica and Chris are absolutely adorable and welcoming. Brave too, since they agreed to stay with my 6 month old baby! Veronica did everything to make the most of our stay. We loved the little garden and the house too, which is very comfortable and nicely decorated, as if everything had a history.

Number 39 is a 19th Century period townhouse set on the outskirts of Oswestry. The house has a living room, dining room and kitchen downstairs with 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower upstairs. The house enjoys views over Brongyntyn Park and has on street parking. The house is on the Shropshire/Welsh border in close proximity to Shrewsbury, Chester with Snowdonia not too far! Perfect for longer stays for work purposes or business trips. Gobowen Hopsital is only a few miles away.
Number 39 provides period living accommodation in a cosy environment. The house has great views over the park and is only a 5 minute walk into the Centre of Oswestry where there are a range of shops, cafes and bars. The house is my home so is “lived in”. I hope you find it a comfortable and homely stay. It’s an old house so does have some quirks. We don’t try to be a five star hotel, but to provide a home from home experience. Number 39 has some nice period features and I’ve been slowly doing it up to make it a great place to live. Myself or my neighbour, Amy, will meet you at the property. Alternatively for late check-ins or when we’re not available, there is a key box that I will leave a key in. Please note that I work full time and am not always able to answer the phone immediately. Please be patient. Check out the house on Instagram: oswestry_holidays
The house is situated on the outskirts of Oswestry in walking distance to shops, pubs and the town centre.
  • We had a lovely weekend stay here. It is a very stylish and spacious house, on a nice residential road only a few minutes' walk from the town centre. Lovely views of the Brogyntyn Estate at the front. A little bit of traffic noise in the front room but nothing to bad. There were no problems with check-in or parking. We couldn't fault the facilities, furnishings or comfort and would happily have stayed longer!

    John2019-12-23T00:00:00Z

  • This is a real gem! Susan is a lovely hostess, the house is spotless and the room is very comfortable indeed. Although the house is centrally located, which is perfect for exploring the town, it is also quiet and there’s ample space for parking on the road outside.

  • Susan's place was very clean and stylish, she made feel very comfortable as well. The beverages and snacks she has provided were an excellent touch! Her two lovely dogs were playful and I only I could stay more! Overall great place and a great host!

Courtyard Cottage is situated on a no through road, within the grounds of Underhill House, a short two mile drive from the market border town of Oswestry, a recently refurbished and immaculately presented two bedroom cottage - both bedrooms with ensuites. Ideally located to explore Shropshire, North Wales, and the local historic towns of Chester and Shrewsbury. And with great access to the international connections and of Manchester and Liverpool.
Guests staying for a week or more will receive a welcome basket on arrival of goodies including fresh bread, eggs from our chickens when available, and home made jams etc. Plentiful books, games, jigsaws and garden furniture. High Chair and cot and toys available on request. Both of our SuperKing Beds are Zip and Lock and each can break into a pair of single beds.
Set in beautiful unspoilt countryside, with superb walking in the local area - the Old Racecourse with its spectacular county views, Offas Dyke and the local Iron Age Hill Fort. Further afield we have National Trust gems of Chirk Castle, Powis Castle and Erddig House. There are steam railways at Llangollen and Welshpool, and of course the spectacular countryside of the Snowdonia National Park is on the doorstep - with great welsh beaches and castles just a little further on. Locally there are a number of good restaurants and pubs - Our personal favourites are 'Kolim' a particularly fine Indian restaurant in Oswestry, the Cross Keys in Selatynn, and the West Arms and the Hand in Llanarmon DC.
  • Beautiful cottage, very well equipped, great hospitality and getting to feed the llamas was an added bonus. Highly recommend and we will be back. Thank you :)

  • Ideally located to explore the Shropshire countryside and Welsh border towns. Lisa, Alex and Freddie were great hosts, the space was very clean and cosy and well equipped with everything we needed!

    Michael2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The space was perfect. Cosier and cuter than we expected. Arriving to freshly baked flapjack cookies, fresh eggs and milk in the fridge was such a lovely touch. The beds and bedding were the best we’d all ever slept in - we slept amazingly all weekend and felt refreshed after our little country cottage retreat. Thank you!

    Alice2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous cottage and wonderful hospitality from Lisa and Alex. Lisa left us gorgeous cookies and freshly laid eggs. The cottage is warm and cozy and has one of the best equipped kitchens we have come across. The whole place was spotless, comfy beds and lovely en-suite bathrooms. Lisa and Alex have thought of everything you might need and are on hand next door should you need them. They have llamas and chickens which we loved visiting. Overall we had a fabulous stay and hope to visit again.

    Janet2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This home is stunning! We went for a few days over Christmas and felt so welcome. So many thoughtful touches. The cottage is cosy, relaxing and has everything you could want. Alex and Lisa went above and beyond for us and we even got to meet and feed the gorgeous llamas, such a highlight. The area is beautiful we explored Oswestry, Shrewsbury and Cheshire so plenty to see and do. We all slept very well as it was peaceful and comfortable. We will definitely return. Cant reccomend this place enough. Xx

    Jen2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is in a great setting and feels so homely. Lisa and Alex are so friendly and helpful, we will definitely be returning.

  • The cottage that myelf and my mother stayed in for 3 nights was second to none. Everything you could possibly need was catered for and the standard of the decor and accessories in the cottage was of the highest standard. Lisa and Alex are just the best hosts and even left us some home made items of food, which were lovely. We enjoyed it so much we were straight onto the website to book again for next year. Keep doing what you are doing Lisa and Alex and your holiday accomodation will be a great success!

Traditional Victorian property. Light and airy with sash windows and period features. House is within a short walking distance of Oswestry market town centre, and the beautiful Cae Glas Park. There are lots of lovely restaurants nearby should you wish to eat out. Easy access to countryside walks from Oswestry, plus many tourist attractions including NT properties Chirk Castle and Erdigg, as well as world heritage site Pontycysyllte viaduct nearby.
Guests will have access to the whole house. The property is cool in Summer but toasty warm in Winter, and it is fully equipped to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The house sits prettily in a terrace, just opposite a beautiful green area in a very desirable street. There’s a useful corner shop about a minute’s walk away, as well as lots of cafes and restaurants within a five minute walk.
  • Helen's place was really homely and welcoming, especially as she left some some essentials like milk and chocolate for us! The kitchen had all the basics for cooking so it was easy to rustle up some tasty dinners.

    Lucy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • lovely clean place . feels like a very cosy home . Helen is very informative and helpful host. would highly recommend

    Lloyd2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful house in a great location. Helen went the extra mile to make us feel really welcome. The little message on the chalk board wall in the kitchen was a nice touch. Really enjoyed relaxing next to the fire and cooking in the kitchen after having been walking during the day. Bed was very comfortable and the quiet road meant we got a good nights sleep. The interior of the house is great with plenty of mood lighting and candles. Staying here was a great way to enjoy the New Year and if we visit the area in the future we’ll be sure to book again. :)

    Nathalie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really nice house with some stylish touches. It’s just 5 minutes walk to the town centre. It was really clean, comfortable and kept nice & warm despite temperatures going to zero outside ..... Helen provided everything we needed ( including some nice ‘treats‘ for our Christmas stay), and left helpful information. She obviously cares about giving a good, friendly service. We’d be delighted to return

    Anne2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Helen’s place is absolutely stunning. It’s cosy, warm, spacious and stylish. It’s all you could wish for, and more. It’s even better than the photos, and I would happily have stayed longer. It’s easy to tell from the feel of the house that it’s well-loved, and I can certainly see why - I totally fell in love with it myself. The location is excellent for exploring and Wales is just a 15 minute drive away. Helen has plenty of info on places to visit to get the most from your trip, although it’s tempting to simply stay inside and enjoy the atmosphere of this beautiful house! We popped into Wales to see the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and I’m very glad we did, the views are incredible! Hope to stay here again and spend more time exploring this beautiful area.

    Lucy2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fab couple of days away with our little one. The house is beautifully decorated with lovely little homely touches. It is super cosy and warm especially once you get the log fire going. The bed was super comfy and the towels were super fluffy! There is plenty of parking and we had a space outside without issue all weekend. Thank you for being such a great host!

    Franki2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time in Helen's.It was sparkly clean, lovely and warm, great beds, and great use of the space. Its just a five minute walk into the town, and if you dont fancy cooking great places to eat or order takeaway.Helen answered any questions immediately and was extremely helpful. I cant wait to stay again next year, thank you Helen xx

    Nia2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little townhouse terrace, about 10 mins walk from the town centre but easy to park outside. Very stylish but also cosy, with very comfy beds! Shame it was a bit cold to sit in the garden, but it looked like a great space for the summer! Kitchen was well provisioned, enough to make an apple pie from scratch and we loved the blackboard - one of the beat little touches. The indoor fire was a real treat, warning the reception rooms and making a very cosy atmosphere. Helen was a great host, very friendly and responsive - we plan on coming back to the town and will certainly hope to be hosted by her in the future. Only small negative is some very steep steps at the front of the property, so be aware if you have mobility issues.

Two floors above a 19th century rural pub, serving local ales. A beautiful rustic property with the top floor offering plenty of character with a skylight view across the fields. Generally the pub is quiet with only the locals sampling the goods and closed by 10am, however events are held here and on occasions the pub can be quite busy and noisy.
The warmth and character of the Original Ball will leave you wanting to return, it has such a fabulous feel to it...
Maesbury is a very friendly village, it has beautiful countryside and close to canal walks
  • Michelle was very friendly and super responsive to messages which is great. The place itself is super clean and very cosy, comfy beds and had everything we needed! Would definitely recommend.

  • A clean, warm, welcoming & cosy yet very spacious flat with the perfect location for exploring the area. The owner is friendly & most helpful before & during the stay. The flat is directly above the pub & restaurant which we regretfully were not able to make use of on this visit but would be sure to try upon our return. Michelle kindly provided outdoor space for the children to play during our stay. You won't be disappointed with your stay here.

  • This place was great for are family gathering. Beds comfortable and everything was clean and tidy.

    Rebekah2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay, the place was spotlessly clean and more than enough space for a big group of us. The pub downstairs was lovely and a great place to pop into in the evening. Such a great value for the weekend, would definitely recommend!

    Rachel2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely characterful little property in a beautiful location. Michelle made sure we had everything we needed and we didn't experience any disturbance from the pub downstairs. The bedrooms are quite open plan but it was perfect for us and two of the rooms are rather more private rooms if any guests have young children (as some of us did). Wonderful trip and we would definitely consider staying again

Spacious room on middle floor of our Georgian farmhouse. The accommodation is relaxed, comfortable and clean. Washbasin in the room and shared bathroom with shower on the same floor and close to the room. Extensive views across the Shropshire plain. All the food is organic and we use ecofriendly cleaning products. Tea /coffee making facilities in the room. Home produced milk & yoghurt at times. Organic continental (£5 pp) or cooked (£10 pp) breakfast paid cash on the day.
We have a relaxed and friendly environment, living as sustainably as we can.
The area is quiet and peaceful. You can walk in the country lanes and footpaths but it is a working farm area so look out for tractors!
  • Our family received a warm welcome from Barbara, Ali and the Dogs, who greeted us at the car ready to play! The kids (and us) loved the opportunity to see the cows being milked in the morning, help feed the pigs, chickens and herd a few escapee sheep! Love the ethos of how this farm works, we learnt and enjoyed a lot. You can sample some delicious milk and Yogurt here too. Our kids did not want to leave! Highly recommend a stay here with these lovely people and animals :-)

Simple room, really nice hosts, huge hospitality!! We had a delicious breakfast with organic and selfmade food. Definitely would recommend to stay there!

  • We had a great stay at this beautiful house. We had a lovely welcome and Sara made sure we had everything we needed. Both Sara and her husband Richard made us feel at home and spent time chatting to us. Their family were visiting and it was lovely to hear and meet some of them bringing the house to life, it’s a perfect family home. Our rooms were great , very comfortable. We really enjoyed looking at the photos and artwork as well as the family possessions which are fascinating. The countryside is beautiful, there are amazing views from the house. We had a delicious breakfast and were sorry we were only staying one night. We were visiting the area with my Mum who was meeting with her cousins for her 80th birthday. Staying here was the icing on the cake, she had a lovely time, thank you.

Although the weather was terrible, we did enjoy our stay and had a nice long weekend getaway. Thanks Sara!

The Garden Lodge is close to the stunning Welsh Mountains, 3 miles from the market town of Oswestry and 18 miles from Shrewsbury. We are approx 30 min drive from Lake Vyrnwy. You’ll love my place because it sits within its own private secluded garden. I live within the grounds and are very willing to give you any help or advise that you might need. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travellers.

  • Loved our bank holiday stay here. Would highly recommend. Myself my fiancé and our dog Wilson had a lovely time with some nice walks and relaxing atmosphere. Everything we needed was available at the beautiful garden lodge, and Wilson especially loved playing in the stream that ran through the garden. Communication with Trish and Steve was excellent, and we would 100% like to stay again (the fruit cake was an awesome added bonus). Thanks again

  • Well equipped, comfortable and cosy place to stay with a lovely garden. Great safe space for our dog, with a lovely stream running through it which she enjoyed wading in and drinking as it was very hot weather while we were there. Sunshine in the garden all day and a BBQ with charcoal was available which was fantastic. Well placed for trips into the Welsh hills and we had a lovely walk from the house taking in the beautiful Offa's dyke path and a pretty semi-derelict canal. The local pub, The White Lion, was friendly and we had a good meal there. Trisha and Steve were very helpful and their dog was adorable! Thanks!

Our home, Ty Gwyn, is a characterful artist’s house situated in the borderland market town of Oswestry, close to all amenities and with off-road parking. The town has galleries, museums and quality restaurants and is well placed for exploring beautiful countryside of the Welsh borders, Shropshire & Cheshire. The Welsh coast is an easy daytrip and Liverpool, Manchester or Birmingham can be reached for a night out. Also close to the world class facilities of the RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital, Gobowen.
Ty Gwyn was built in stages between the early 18th century and Edwardian times and is full of historic flavour. Recently renovated, the sunny room offers a king-sized bed with quality bedlinen, a sofa and an en suite with spacious walk-in power shower. There are original solid timber floorboards and a quality Persian rug. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided along with plenty of books to read. There is a private entrance via the garden and up granary steps to a roof terrace which also is yours to enjoy, with comfortable lounger chairs. The steps on the roof garden are higher than the norm but are safe.
We are in the middle of Oswestry with a good range of national and local shops plus many restaurants, coffee shops and bars to suit all tastes and purses within easy walking distance. Across the road we have a local store, open long hours, supplying a wide range of necessities as well as freshly baked bread and croissants. Oswestry hosts a Recital Series, with renowned classical musicians, spanning the year and the nearby village of Whittington (also home to a pretty castle with regular re-enactments and other events) has a Music Festival every May. There are folk, jazz, rock and other musical events at a number of venues around town and in the area. There is an excellent local independent cinema (Kinokulture) and an award winning bookshop (Booka) in town. Our favourite place to eat out is the excellent 4* Sebastians French restaurant, just a few steps down the road. We've been going there for 30 years and never been disappointed (you're best to book). The Montgomery Canal with its colourful traditional narrowboats, runs through the countryside south of town from Welshpool to Ellesmere and beyond, linking with the Llangollen Canal, famed for its spectacular aqueducts, designated a World Heritage Site. The old limekilns at Llanymynech are well worth a visit and the pretty town of Ellesmere (7miles) sits amongst a cluster of lakes or meres which are wonderful for walkers, dinghy sailors and birdwatchers alike. Offa’s Dyke runs close by and the Shropshire hills, Mid Wales and Snowdonia are all great areas for walkers. Llangollen, with its famous International Eisteddfod and many other attractions, is only 13 miles away and Shrewsbury (19miles) and Chester (27 miles)are both reached by major roads. National Trust properties in the area include Powis Castle, famed for its gardens and connections with Clive of India, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park.
  • A lovely spacious room, with separate entrance. Thoughtful touches including fresh milk and soap with the towels. Ian showed me round the room and how to use the lovely shower. I would stay again.

Hilary was very welcoming on our arrival though we had complete privacy. The local restaurant The Townhouse was just a few doors down, lovely food catering to all dietary needs at extremely affordable prices. The town with all it's amenities a few minutes walk away and Oswestry itself is one of the happiest, friendly places we've ever visited, Highly recommended x

  • Hillary and Ian never cease to go above and beyond each time we visit. Easy speedy communication. Fantastic location. Beautiful rooms! A secret garden oasis to be proud of and admired with joy. The secret is out.

    Robert2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a perfect stay. Ian was a very welcoming Host, who kept his distance during our stay, but was available if we needed him. We did not feel like we were staying in someones home which was ideal for us. The bedroom is a lovely space, and the garden is too. We didn't get the weather to use the Roof Garden, but it's easy to imagine its ideal in the sunshine. We stayed with the purpose of spending some time in the town, and as a base for visiting the local area. This worked out well on both counts. My only comment for future guests, would be that the entrance via the roof top garden has a few last steps that might be unsuitable for anyone unsteady on their feet or infirm. Just something to be aware of. There have been comments from previous Guests, about the shower. This has been replaced by Ian & is working very well. We would happily stay again, and recommend to others.

    Karl2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This property is simply a little piece of heaven. We have stayed twice now , each time Hillary and Ian have gone above and beyond expecations to welcome us into their home and make sure we are comfortable and looked after. The garden is an oasis with curiosities artistically hidden, with fresh summer fruits fruits apple trees Grapevines and flowers at every angle. We love the location, an easy short walk to town center. Shadow the cat is a beautiful friendly gentle addition to the visit. Easy check in and great communication. Will be back soon x

  • Lovely chalet in a great location, about 20 minutes away from attractions such as Powis Castle or Pistyll Rheadr. Check in was very easy, Cheryl messaged well in advance to ensure everything goes smoothly and communication was great. The place was immaculate, equipped with pretty much everything needed to feel at home (fully equipped kitchen including oven, pots, pans and all sorts of cooking utensils, iron, toiletries, clean towels plus some extra), plus a few thoughtful touches such as a few blankets, milk, tea and coffee and biscuits. The park is very peaceful and it has a small shop at the entrance which is very convenient. Can be used as a hub for exploring Wales, or you can enjoy the fabulous surroundings, go for walks alongside the river and enjoy the wildlife. It is difficult to put it into words how amazing the place is, both the chalet and the surroundings exceeded our expectations. Thank you Cheryl for a lovely stay, will definitely return!

  • Such a wonderful place to stay with so many thoughtful touches, third time stopping at this Airbnb! It’s a great base when visiting mid Wales.

  • This a fabulous place to stay, especially if you’re walking Offa’s Dyke as its right on the path. I found the place immaculately clean with a lot of home comforts and thoughtful touches. The breakfast supplies were a real treat along with everything you’d need in the bathroom (shower gel, shampoo etc). I met Phil & Linda in passing but it was clear they were on hand to help with anything if required. Their communication was spot on. The independent access of the room was ideal. I would recommend this place highly and would love to come again. Tree 🌳

  • This has to be one of the best bnb’s I have ever stopped at. The room was stylish and clean. Not to mention the generous amounts of food which was available! Would fully recommend as it isn’t too far away from Oswestry and it’s the perfect place to stay.

  • A lovely room, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There was a plentiful range of food for breakfast, a lovely touch.

  • This was a little touch of luxury for us on our 2 week walk of the Offa’s Dyke path. Decent supply of breakfast bits, lovely bowl of fresh fruit, plentiful bathroom products in case you are travelling light and decent shower. Nice outdoor area for your sole use. Linda excellent to communicate with and very welcoming. Right next to Offa’s Dyke path in Trefonan. Barley Mow great pub just around the corner and we got our lunch from the village shop a few paces away the next morning for that day’s walking. Would definitely recommend this airBnb for a stop in Trefonen.

    Virginia2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Good communication before check in (even though we never saw them during our stay). We asked for sandwiches as packed lunch as we walk the Offa's Dyke Path, and they were waiting in the fridge. Small room but very clean and new. Beautiful views of the countryside.

  • This is one of the most special homes we've stayed in! It is a work of art, covered in art! It's an absolutely delightful place to be. Be sure to plan time in your holiday to spend time in the house, you'll be happy you did. There were so many extra touches to make the stay fun, like a karaoke machine, foosball table, and disco lights! There were tons of plates and cups, so it's great for a group. The best are comfortable, the bathrooms are lovely, we were all very comfortable there. This home is good for families or groups of adults. There is plenty of onsite parking and it's a very walkable location. I highly recommend! Thank you Simon for sharing your special home.

A rustic hut in its own secluded, private area on the property. There is a full double bed, cozy sofa and foldout dining table for two. A seperate, fully renovated horsebox provides a spacious cooking area for preparing those romantic meals for two. A private waterless eco-toilet keeps your glamping low-impact, keeping the world green. Use it as a hideaway to recharge, and if you fancy stepping back into the world there are two gastropubs, fish and chip shop and a local shop within walking distance. There is no shower.
Comfortable and quiet. Overlooking fields, next to a small pond area. All your creature comforts; towels, sheets and a very comfy mattress too.
Typical English village with 13th century castle ruin, two pub/restaurants, fish and chip shop and general store/post office.
  • No electricity, no flushing loo, no shower - just a cold tap. Really comfy bed and peace and quiet. If you like this sort of thing - you will love this place. Very private. John and Louise were there if I needed them but left me alone. Definitely somewhere to escape to if you want to get away from it all. Couldn't fault it. Don't bother if you want mod cons!!

Having no electricity wasn’t a problem from us as we had power banks for our phones as and when we really needed it. The kitchen was great for what we needed! A wonderful little hidden gem, ideal for a couple wanting to get away from the daily grind. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Llansilin is a border village. There is a local shop on Tuesday and Thursday mornings The friendly pub is the centre of activities. The pub ia a rural unsophisticated friendly house unspoilt by modernization. There are 2 real ales and a good selection of other beers and cider. There is a simple menu on during most of the week . Sunday there is an excellent Sunday roast with all fresh vegetables and two meats. Nothing frozen.
There is electricity in the pod and a heater. It is well insulated so it's nice and cosy even in the winter. There is a toaster and kettle with tea , coffee, mugs and cutlery, so please bring whatever food you may need for breakfast. There is a chemical toilet next to the pod for night use We are only a few miles from one of the wonders of Wales - llanrhaeadr waterfall which is higher than Niagra. We have three famous National Trust properties nearby , Chirk Castle, Erddig and Powys Castle. There are beautiful drives around Lake Vyrnwy Dogs welcome but please don't leave them alone in the pod.
  • Brilliant stay in the pod for New Years. The pod was warm and comfortable and the pub was full of friendly locals. Defo reccomend for an escape away

  • Lovely getaway for myself and my partner for one night. Jonathon is very quick to respond to emails and check in was easy. Nice views from the pod, nice touches such as tea, coffees, toaster, kettle etc for a good brew in the morning. Will definitely stay again :)

  • Attended a wedding at Barnutopia, Llansilin, so this was the perfect location for us. The pod was warmer than I expected and was perfect just for somewhere to stay for a few hours. Thank you!

  • Great little pod. Very cosy and stunning views to wake up to.

  • Great, clean and well finished pod in a nice location with lovely views over the playground, playing field and rolling fields. Jonathan was a great host and welcomed us and gave local tips and helped us check out the food situation at the pub. The pub staff and locals were friendly and welcoming, although they didn't seem to usually do food on weekday evenings so I'd phone ahead if you want this, but they did see what they had in and offer to make us something which was very kind. Thank you!

  • It has been wonderful to stay at the pod! I have been there for two days and I felt so relaxed! Wonderful view! Even on a showering rainy day it felt good to be there. Llansilin is a nice and quiet place. And the pub is wonderful to be in also; good meals and good laughs! Jonathan is a very good host and a nice person as well.

Set in 5 acres and surrounded by farmland and ancient woodland, Ysgubor Onn (Ash Barn) is a detached converted 1 bedroom self-catering property, contemporary with the main 17th Century farmhouse, situated 700 feet above sea level with outstanding views. The accommodation is centrally heated and comprises of one double bedroom, kitchen and bathroom and a large double height lounge/dining room with log burner. Patio doors lead out onto decking with access to the gardens and surrounding land.
Plas Onn and Ysgubor Onn are 400 years old and enjoy outstanding views across to the Long Mountains and Shropshire. There are footpaths and bridleways leading from the house through the surrounding farmland providing opportunities to go walking without having to drive anywhere once you get here. We do have many steps, slopes and uneven ground, so if you think access may be an issue please contact us for more information. Although the property is for couples we will happily accommodate young children (preschool), if you provide your own travel cot or “ready bed”.
Llanfechain is approximately 20 minutes walk away and boasts an ancient church, and a glorious 16th century pub which is celebrated for fine dining. The village has a small shop run by community volunteers which is open every morning. Domen Hill fort is visible from Ysgubor Onn and accessible as part of a local river walk where Otters are occasionally seen. Llanfyllin and Llansantfraid are within 10 minutes drive and have larger food stores and a range of pubs, cafes and smaller shops. Around Ysgubor Onn there are several footpaths and bridleways leading into the surrounding hills and woodland, ideal for walking or challenging for those with mountain bikes. Further afield we are 20 minutes from Lake Vyrnwy, 1 hour from the Snowdonia National Park with the coast approximately 1.5 hours away, (Dify reservoir and Osprey Centre on route) 45 minutes from Shrewsbury and approximately 20 minutes from both Oswestry and Welshpool.
  • What a wonderful place to stay! The pictures really don't do it justice. It's very secluded and the views are amazing. The barn is finished to such a high standard, even during a storm we were warm and cosy. Very friendly and knowledgeable hosts too.

  • Really lovely place, much better equipped than I expected and the views are spectacular. We stayed on a cold and wet night but it was wonderfully warm and cozy inside

  • Andrew and Rebecca are both great hosts who go above and beyond. The barn is clean, comfortable and has the most stunning views. It is great value for money and I would highly recommend!

  • The views and walks are incredible from the barn. It’s cosy and peaceful, which makes for the perfect get away. Hosts are both incredibly friendly. I would 100% recommend it, and hopefully will be going back at some point. By far the best Airbnb experience I’ve had
