Our newly renovated rustic cottage is a quiet retreat in the heart of the Middle Raccoon River Valley. Situated on our private acreage, the cottage overlooks a prairie and garden. With close proximity to Whiterock Conservancy, guests can easily access hiking and mountain biking trails, or float the nearby river. A "rookery" is a nesting site for herons, a bird that prefers quiet, undisturbed habitat near water. And so the Rookery Cottage seeks to provide a natural escape from the daily grind.
This building used to be a flower shop and was built using reclaimed barn board and other re-purposed materials. We converted it to a guesthouse but kept a lot of the rustic charm. It has comfortable heated floors and A/C. The kitchenette is equipped with sink, dishes/utensils, mini fridge, microwave, toaster, electric skillet, and coffeemaker. Alternatively, a small charcoal grill or fire pit can be used for outdoor cooking. We provide coffee, creamer/sugar, basic condiments and a tea assortment. The Rookery Cottage can sleep up to six guests. There are two queen beds and a futon. PLEASE NOTE: There is a TV/DVD player but no cable or internet in the cottage. However, wifi from our house can be accessed in the yard if needed. Also, some cell phones will not have service here. Relax and unplug!
Driving distances: 4.3 miles to Coon Rapids. 25 miles to Guthrie Center, Audubon, Carroll or Jefferson. 60 miles to Des Moines. 100 miles to Omaha.
  • Sweet little space. Super clean and tidy. Very pleased with our stay!

  • This was our second trip to The Rookery. It was exactly as we remembered: beautiful nature scenery, cozy cottage, outdoor fire pit, and plenty of nearby hiking trails at Whiterock Conservancy. Emily and Matt were very accommodating and quick to reply to any questions we had. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this is the place for you! I would recommend this to anyone! Plus, they allow dogs, which was perfect for our two puppies.

Boasting craftsman style details accompanied by Victorian elegance, this fully renovated home offers original woodworking throughout, complete with a warm palette and craftsmanship provided by talented artisans. Later, prepare breakfast in the fully equipped kitchen, complete with a coffee maker and dishwasher. Gather around the octagonal dining room table, hosting seating for 12 guests, and enjoy a home-cooked meal or challenge your comrades to a friendly game of cards. When you're ready to call it a night, retreat to one of the inviting bedrooms, where you can slip into a peaceful night's slumber before the next day's exhilarating activities.

Modern home with beautiful views in all seasons, large fireplace and full kitchen. Four bedrooms (with 5 beds) and two bathrooms. Less than a mile from HWY 141, approx 1.5 miles from Jamaica, 7 miles to Perry and 50 miles from the Des Moines airport. A stone's throw from the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
A Jamaican vacation--no passport required! The home is on a farm with several acres to roam about. Built only 10 years ago, the home is clean and modern with geothermal heating and cooling, large TV (although no cable access there is wireless internet access--the fastest that we can get out here in the middle of nowhere—-which is ridiculously slow. It’s kind of like 1999 out here. Remember dial up? If you are looking for a spot with screaming fast internet, unfortunately, we are not your best choice for a “get away”) but we do have modern appliances, and lots of charm, games, books, and records. It’s a fantastic place to “disconnect” and reconnect with your travel partners. There’s a large yard for games, two fire pits for roasting marshmallows (one on that patio and a larger one a short walk down the hill), and the patio is a great spot to relax and enjoy the stars at night.
The closest neighbors are cows. Seriously.
  • All was excellent, as usual!

    David2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was wonderful, as usual. This was our fourth stay there, and we look forward to the next. Great for groups!

    David2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was wonderful! The host was easy to contact and talk to which I appreciate! The place was even cooler than expected! We had our kiddos with us and they enjoyed the space and the ability to play outside. There was plenty of space to sleep for our two families. During the day we played games, puzzles and cooked in the kitchen which had pots, pans, silverware, plates, glasses, spices and even some extra condiments in the fridge! It felt like staying at a friend's place while they were out. Our favorite part may have been the beautiful seclusion and the fireplace. The TV was especially nice for the kids for quiet time and music for the adults at night. Don't forget you can use your Apple device to connect to the apple TV! Hoping we can do this again!

    Sasha2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, perfect for our friend meetup weekend!

    Angela2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was AWESOME! Most hosts would say HECK NO to having a bunch of high school students stay at their place but Melissa was inviting and gracious! We were so grateful for the extra supplies like: towels, many garbage bags, cooking supplies, apple tv (score), shampoo & conditioner, and extra bedding. Our students totally were saved by how wonderful this place was and are so grateful!! This host was also so gracious with her space, she even let us go sledding out back behind her property. Our students have even asked if we can come back next year - you won't regret staying here!

    Erica2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The house is amazing and you can find everything you need there. We will come back.

    Ekaterina2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • A terrific country setting right off the highway. You can enjoy the stars at night, kick back with a fire, play board games with the family, catch up on reading or use the paved trail that's right up the road. Melissa responds promptly with any questions you may have.

    Eric2019-12-08T00:00:00Z

Very comfortable 2 bedroom house with a queen bed and 2 single beds. Use with 2, 3 or 4 people. Downtown 8 blocks away and many eating places 1 mile away or closer. With extended stays, having the dishes, pots and pans, and able to make your meals is a plus. The street that runs in front of the house has alternate side parking so I ask you to park in the rear by the garage.
With the longer stays, bedding will be change weekly (Fri. or Sat). There is a garage door opener available for a $50.00 deposit which you will get back when it is returned to me.
  • Nice and simple place to stay, nothing fancy but has just about everything you would need. Jimmie is a great host that cares about those that stay.

This 1899 Victorian home is located in the heart of historic Boone, Iowa. Boone is ~50 miles from Des Moines and ~18 miles from Ames. The home has 3 outdoor relaxation seating areas (in warm months) - 2 porches and a brick patio.
Your private room includes a bed, desk & chair, luggage stand, closet space, dresser, and fan if desired. The kitchen, living room and 2 dining rooms are shared space and you are welcome to use them. This listing is for one bedroom in the house with a shared bathroom, next to the bedroom, but not attached. This bathroom includes a claw foot tub retrofitted with a shower. The tub has slightly sloped sides and is on a platform, so there is a step down to get out of the tub. A step stool is provided in case needed. (See pictures.) There is another full bath on the main floor (with tub but no shower). The 2 guest bathrooms are not used by the homeowner, but may be shared with potentially other guests.
The home is conveniently located near downtown, a few blocks from restaurants, shopping, coffee shop/bakery, grocery store, antique stores, and only 1 mile from the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad Train.

  • Rebecca's place was like stepping into the past...in the best possible way. She greeted us at the door and showed us around her beautiful victorian home. Everything was so interesting to look at! Our room and the shared bathroom were SPARKLING clean! Bed was comfy and it was a quiet restful night. I cannot stress how clean the accommodations were...especially the bathroom! She left nice little touches for guest comfort. Thank you Rebecca for a lovely night's stay. I hope we will come back when we are in the Ames/Boone area!

    Sue2019-10-06T00:00:00Z

  • Beautiful historic home - ✔️ Close to downtown Boone - ✔️ Short drive to Ames (and football games) -✔️ Clean, comfortable bed - ✔️ Clean room and bathroom (with a footed tub even?!) - ✔️ Porch to sit and enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea- ✔️ Outstanding host -✔️✔️✔️ My stay at Rebecca’s has been nothing short of amazing. I just started vet school in Ames and commute every day to school. Rebecca is kind, friendly, willing to go out of her way to make sure everything is well with your stay, and honestly this house feels like a home away from home! I’m permanently moving to the area for school but would 100% recommend this house to anyone staying in Ames or Boone or nearby. 🐵

    Crystal2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cozy camper was exactly what we needed! Myself and two co workers were in town for a work trip and it was a cute out of town stay! It was very peaceful and quiet. There is a train near by that you can hear but once we turned on the provided box fan to sleep we didn’t hear a thing! The fire pit was perfect! Don’t forget to bring things to make s’mores! We will definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Boone/Ames!

    Kanaan2019-10-07T00:00:00Z

  • Cozy and comfortable spot right off the highway. Lots of fun stuff to do in the surrounding area. A unique stay in a quaint little town.

    David2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Super host is right! Not sure whether it was the detailed instructions, the personal greeting, the little coffees and popcorn, the extra towels or any number of other things, but we had a fantastic stay at the Cozy Camper. It was easy to find, marked with an Airbnb logo at the end of the driveway. It was sparkling clean and bigger than we imagined. The water pressure is awesome; i had never stayed in a camper before so I didn't know how it would be. There's a nice size fridge and freezer and even a toy drawer for kids if you have them. Bring some DVDs! There are two tvs there with dvd players attached. The bed was comfortable and it was a peaceful stay on our way to see Pete Buttigieg campaign for president at the Iowa State Fair. Go Pete! Thanks Joel!

Original house on the farm built in 1903. Most of the original furnishings are still in the house and it is laid out very much like it was originally. The house has a kitchen/common room and a bedroom downstairs and one large room upstairs that serves as a second bedroom. **** Please note: This property does not operate between October 15th and May 1st. *****
The house is very rustic and small. Electricity and water have been added but expect to experience a 115 year old farm house. There is a refrigerator, microwave and hot plate available in the garage nearby. There is no television in the space. Wireless can be made available if desired.
The farm is in an unincorporated area called Hardin Township in eastern Webster County. The nearest town is Stratford, and is 3 miles northeast in nearby Hamilton County. You will be surrounded by corn and bean fields, the nearest neighbor being about a half-mile away. Stratford is a small town of about 700 people. It has a grocery store, a gas station, a bar and a restaurant that is occasionally open. To the west is Dayton, and there is a bar and grill there as well as a Casey's General Store that serves pizza and sandwiches to go. You will not find any food delivery services that service this area. About 15 miles to the southeast is Boone, a town of about 12,000. There you will find modern fast food restaurants, a Wal-mart, liquor store and other needs. The Des Moines River is 1 mile to the west and offers fishing, camping, and boating. If you are brave, there is a nearby cemetery that is thought to be haunted. It's accessed via a dirt road in a very remote area near the river.
  • This place was absolutely adorable! Perfect little touches making it truly feel like it was the 1900s still! The hosts are very informative & super attentive!

  • We spent some very nice days on the Larson farm and in the house from the year 1903. Pure nature, deeply breathed, and slept like in Abraham's lap. Great hours at the rodeo in Dayton. A positive experience all around. Jay and Carol are great hosts, we missed nothing. Thank you very much.

Travel back in time. The Hometown Hideaway allows you to slow down and experience a quiet and friendly Midwest farm town of yesterday while retaining the modern conveniences you enjoy. Perfect for writers, artists, or people in need of a retreat.
The Hometown Hideaway is a 140 year old historic home in the heart of central Iowa (an hour and 15 from Des Moines) that used to be the telephone switchboard for the community. This small, cozy home retains many of its original features with some modern touches. Besides the bedrooms there is a large front porch perfect for cool summer evenings, a library office, seating room with a big screen TV, DVD player and Netflix capability, a fully functional kitchen and a nice dining area.
The Hometown Hideaway is a historic home in the heart of central Iowa (an hour and 15 from Des Moines) that used to be the telephone switchboard for the community. This small, cozy home sits opposite one of Paton's two churches and the town's central park making a quiet and beautiful setting. With under a population of 300, this tiny town is unique.
  • Charming and clean space, in easy driving distance to Fort Dodge and Jefferson!

  • Hometown Hideaway has become our home away from home when visiting family in the area. The home is always clean and cozy. The host and property manager always respond in a prompt and professional manner. The 209 restaurant in town is awesome and we discovered a great coffee shop and cafe just a few miles away in Jefferson as well. We will be back!

  • We have stayed at the Hometown Hideaway several times. It's clean and comfortable and host is very easy to work with. This is a cozy grandmother's house across from the park with a great restaurant in town. We stay here to visit family and enjoy annual pheasant hunting trips.

  • This small town hideway is perfect to just get away. With several state and county parks around to explore. The restaurant/bar is amazing for such a small town. One of my favorite places to go. The fireplace TV stand is a GREAT touch and so is the receiver with AUX cord. P.S. the sheets are amazingly soft!!

This home is perfect for the Cycling Enthusiast, a couple, family or small group of friends. This fully furnished cozy 2 bedroom home is sure to please. Located 1 block from the Raccoon River Valley Bike Trail (75 mile paved loop), 15 minutes from I-80 and 30/40 minutes from the State's Capital City of Des Moines, Minburn is the "Small Town with a Big Heart". There are two City Parks, an outdoor historical roller skating rink & 3 Rest/Bars.
Almost all of my reviews included two facts, clean and homey! I hope you find it this way as well!
There is a playground less than a block away. The downtown area is less than a five minute walk. Access to the Raccoon River Valley Bike Trail is a block from the Kottage. The three Restaurants/Bars in town are within a two minute walk from the Kottage. There is a City Library on the square.
  • The Kottage was a great place for my roommate and me to stay long-term (8 weeks) while we worked in Des Moines. It was fully furnished and had everything we needed. We only had to bring in clothes! It was also very clean, and Kim was very responsive to each of our messages. Thank you again for a great stay!

Feel right at-home while away from your own! Relax in this charming 2-bedroom/1-bathroom house loaded with amenities. Perched atop a corner lot in a quiet and safe neighborhood, this place feels like a retreat from the everyday stress and worry. Designing a guest's stay with the GUEST in mind is the goal behind this getaway space. The kitchen has it all, if that's your "flavor"! Its romantic decor welcomes the couple celebrating, while its cozy comforts suit perfectly the vacationing family!
FOR YOUR ENTRY: A wireless electronic smart lock will generate a unique entry code that works for the duration of each guest's stay. A garage door opener is available upon entry to the house. FOR YOUR REST: On warm days, guests can relax while sitting on the wrap-around porch. Inside, a full dining and living room offer plenty of places to sit. An "Into the Woods" bedroom has 1 twin bed and a rollout trundle. Two twin roll-aways and a floor mattress are stored in its closet. The master "Boho" bedroom offers a queen bed. There is also a full-sized, fold-down sofa sleeper located in the living room. Should a little one be along, the dining room storage closet has a pack-n-play. FOR YOUR YUMMY: This home has a full-service kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, toaster, crockpot, and Keurig coffee maker. Make cookies or boil pasta with the extensive collection of cookware/bakeware provided. Serviceware is also provided to present multi-course meals. We offer a wide variety of complimentary k-cups and treats upon guest arrival. And a list of local restaurants and grocery stores is located on the kitchen counter. Ready for mid-June is a small strawberry patch just outside the back door, and guests are invited to pick a bowl or two! FOR YOUR FUN: Bring the "tech" because guests can enjoy high-speed, wireless internet! The living room has a flat screen smart TV with Netflix/Sling TV access (streaming cable television) so everyone can watch a movie together! The place is stocked with a variety of family-friendly DVDS, board games, and books. FOR YOUR STINKY: All guests have access to "the facilities" through a door in the living room, but the master bedroom has its own separate, adjoining door. The bathroom is full-service with the following amenities: * 2 Sinks * Shower/Tub * Toilet * Shampoo, conditioner, body wash * Guest towels * Hair dryer * Toilet paper * Hand soap * Select complimentary personal toiletries Upon request, a washer/dryer can be made available to guests with longer stays and who are comfortable using steep, shallow stairs to the basement. FOR YOUR WHEELS: This property presents a unique situation in that its garage - while detached from the house - is physically connected to the garages on the neighbor's property, and the driveway to the garages is SHARED. Therefore, guests may park inside the garage, directly in front of it, or off-street to avoid blocking the neighbor's access to HIS parking spaces and garages. Guest cooperation is greatly appreciated. FOR YOUR BENEFIT: Guests are politely asked to be mindful of their surroundings. This house is a "labor of love" to be enjoyed by its respectful guests. Smoking is not allowed during any season inside the house or near any open windows/doors. To maintain the decorative integrity of the space, no pets are allowed.
Guests couldn't ask for a better neighborhood in which to stay. It's a sweet place in the world...quiet and close to the town's "heartbeats": * 3 blocks to Walgreens, Subway, Scooters * 7 blocks to the uptown shopping district * 5-minute drive to Boone Speedway * 6-minute drive to Boone & Scenic Valley RR * 4 miles from Ledges State Park * 16-minute drive to Iowa State University For a complete experience, the infamous Dutch Oven Bakery in uptown Boone is a must-stop-spot. They serve breakfast/lunch Monday-Saturday with pastries and donuts you won't soon forget!
  • My daughters and I stayed at this amazing home and it was absolutely perfect! All of my communications with Tracy were answered quickly! She was so wonderful to work with! Our stay was so wonderful! The home is gorgeous! Every corner of it is decorated in such a beautiful way! It was so comfortable we truly loved it!!! The mattresses were very comfortable and the bedding was very nice! Tracy left great snacks and drinks for us! We will be coming back again and are really looking forward to it!

  • Tracy is an excellent host. The pictures are very accurate, the house is SPOTLESS, and is a very stylish space. Lot's of amenities make your stay very pleasant. Boone is a small town with everything you need close by and Tracy is a good communicator. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, lots of privacy, good parking, easy access to the house. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Inn on Linn, and you will, too.

    Karen2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • My mom and I went up to visit family in Iowa and I found The Inn on Linn. We decided since we weren’t going to be able to stay with family this time we could do this. The house was reasonably priced, extremely clean, super cozy, etc. The neighbors were very nice too. The house is in a quiet neighborhood with lots of things close by like Hy-Vee, Wal-Mart, Pizza Ranch, etc. We enjoyed our stay! 😊

    Kezia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and clean. Very well decorated. Were only there a short time but enjoyed our stay very much.

    Lee2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a month at the Inn on LInn due to a fire at our house. Tracy was, again, great to work with. The house is super cozy and felt like home while we were there. If I needed anything, she immediately responded. I highly recommend working with Tracy and staying there if you are visiting Boone or nearby areas!

    Martha2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed 2 weeks at Tracy's place after a fire at our house. She has bent over backwards to make us feel at home. The house is so cute and cozy. Just what we needed! Looking forward to going back and staying after Christmas until our house is ready for us to move back into. :)

Small town Iowa perfectly located for easy access to W. Des Moines/Waukee/Grimes/Johnston/Adel. Less than a 20 min. drive to an abundance of restaurants, shops, and attractions - not including the great places to eat/visit in town. Cute and charming 1952 ranch has been recently updated with modern amenities. This spacious 1 bedroom home is located on a beautiful, quiet, tree lined street. Google Dallas Center, Iowa for all the great things this Quietly Progressive town offers.
Smart TV and fast Wi-Fi for your entertainment needs, pet friendly, washer and dryer, plenty of parking in driveway if you are traveling with an RV or trailer. Bedroom has queen bed with brand new memory foam mattress, living area has small full size futon, however there is also a twin size fold out mattress that can be placed on the floor.
Dallas Center is a beautiful little town close to the Metro. There are so many wonderful attractions to this town and surrounding, I would suggest checking out the local website. A few of our favorites, the Raccoon River Valley bike trail and Brenton Arboretum are wonderful places to explore for the outdoor person. Beautifully restored Victorian homes every where you turn. Great local tavern with excellent food, ice cream shop, community pool (seasonal), Farmer's Market (seasonal), and many local celebrations throughout the year.
  • Dallas Center?!?! Of course it’s awesome. Skating rink and swimming pool during the summer and ice rink by winter! The house is located just three block from grandmas house, so I let my kids run amok over DC like I use to! (Ok, so they were allowed to walk three blocks themselves). House was great.

  • Loved it! Perfect house and host!

  • Loved the opportunity to stay at the 3rd street suite! It was a great place with lovely touches. We took a work trip out to Perry and our co-workers have nothing but positive things to say about the AirBnb. 5 out of 5 stars, highly recommend for any and all purposes!

  • This is one of the best! Such a comfortable, clean space--a welcoming home with excellent beds, amenities, and the special creative touches of Bethany and Perry artists/businesses. We would highly recommend this place--you won't want to leave! :) Bethany thinks of everything one might possibly need; she is top-notch in her hosting and communication.

  • Another perfect stay at 3rd Street Suite. The house is totally charming and comfortable.

    Janette2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • This home will exceed your EVERY expectation. Really and truly. It is spotless, charming and stylish in every way. Every room is immaculate; every bathroom is updated and lovely. The decor is fresh and comfortable. Around every corner and in every cupboard, you will find a special item or note that will make you feel at home and help you appreciate the local arts and businesses of Perry. When we arrived, we found a complimentary basket of snacks and chips, a sweet note welcoming us, complimentary soda and water upon arrival, and HGTV-style decorating touches everywhere. Bethany was immediately responsive to our communications while booking and planning, and she was extremely flexible with our check-in time so we could successfully host a small wedding shower while we were there. Guests drove several hours to attend, and everyone raved about the house feeling it was the PERFECT place to gather. I can't recommend this home highly enough; treat yourself and book it. You'll love the home, and you'll love working with Bethany as a host.

  • This house was beautiful, and it was perfect for our home-away-from-home needs as we visited with our family in IA. I was so pleasantly surprised and sad to leave it. Just a charming, cozy, lovely house with beautiful, interesting decor, and sweet personal touches everywhere.

    Tiffany2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The home was very comfortable and nicely decorated. This older, but updated home was very welcoming. Bethany is a wonderful host.

    Christine2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place. A group of 6 of us were traveling on "yet another roadtrip" and decided to call Perry, IA our home away from home for a few days. I'm so glad we did! We were impressed from the moment we walked in the door. Absolutely charming house with everything you need to stay a night, or a month! Right outside the door is downtown Perry with a host of things to see and do - a movie theater, restaurants, local shops, antique stores, etc. We loved the fact that we could walk to anywhere within just a few minutes. Plus, the Post Office is right behind you so it made it super easy to mail our postcards out - yeah, we are old school like that! Bethany has went above and beyond showcasing Perry and what it has to offer with information everywhere about locally bought décor items, shop hours and information, and even history of the town, people and places. The backyard patio area is perfect for those evenings spending time with friends and family making memories that will last forever. You can't go wrong staying here - and we hope to return in the future to continue our adventure.

  • Our nonprofit retreat group had a nice weekend on the farm. There was lots of space to spread out, gather for activities, and plenty of rooms to sleep. Brenda generously reserved the whole space for us even though we only had six people. The full kitchen was great for cooking and Brenda has wonderful ideas to use it for social service programs.

    Lindsey2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is warm with a beautiful gift of hospitality. The facility is so well put together and we felt prepared for and cared for. It just happened we were the only guests at that time so we had the place to ourselves and it was a quiet respite.

    Dale2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda is accommodating and very helpful. She answered all our questions and gave us full access to the place. Our family loved it and we hope to stay again.

    Sheila2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Brenda’s place was perfect for our family stay during the holidays. Brenda has done a great job with the place and decorating. The kitchen is amazing! My whole family was able to come and cook a Christmas Eve breakfast and Brenda had Christmas dishes for us to use! We were able to bring our dog which was a huge plus and plenty of room for her to run outside. The sunrise was beautiful. She had plenty of amenities in the bathroom. This would be a great space for a big group (although it doesn’t have to be) for a great price! It is very close to Panora (where my extended family lives), so a very short drive (5 minutes) to gas and dining. My family is planning our next stay already.

    Mary2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique and wonderful place to stay. We had a group of 9 people, but there is room for more. My favorite feature was the amazing kitchen. We came for Thanksgiving and had a blast cooking a traditional meal in a well supplied kitchen. The common area is very large and the bedrooms are cozy and secure. Our host was very helpful and informative. She made sure we had everything we needed and more. The location is wonderful for a "get away", and the facility is designed for long term comfort. We felt like we got more value from this booking than many other bookings. Highly recommended.

  • It was wonderful staying at this place again - a beautiful scenery, very homely place with lots of space.

  • Robert’s home is very comfortable and spacious. It was the perfect setting for our family Christmas. The girls enjoyed watching Hallmark movies in the basement by the wood burning fire. The boys enjoyed watching football upstairs in the sunroom relaxing in the recliners. The kids had plenty of space to play inside and out. We hope to return for future family gatherings.

  • Beautiful place in a convenient location. Bob ensured we had everything we needed before our arrival and was prompt to respond to anything we needed. He had the fire pit all setup for us to use while were there as well. The house was just what we expected and was exceptionally clean and plenty of space for our group for the weekend. We would definitely choose this location again. Bob was an awesome host.

  • Great place to stay!

    Nichole2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house is absolutely gorgeous! I only rated the location 4 stars because it was a bit far to get to your major stores (Walmart, specifically), but it isn’t anything more planning ahead couldn’t solve. My husband and I slept in the upstairs king bed, which was a bit more firm than I was used to as I have a temperpedic mattress. It only took one sleep to really find appreciation for it, however. It was firm, but also molded well to our shapes. There was plenty of space to store our clothes, food, and family games as well. The host was kind and hospitable- we had no issues at all there. I would absolutely recommend a visit.

  • Everything was perfect! The house is so beautifully decorated and thoughtfully curated. We spent a weekend with cousins, it was a warm and amenity-filled space that allowed us to catch up, have long talks, and let the kids play together. We created some great memories and hope to be back again next year!

  • WOWOWOW this place was like home. I got so attached to this place. Little did I know when I was booking an Airbnb in Iowa I was booking such a gem. Sandy was great and responsive to everything. The house had coffee, tea, all cooking appliances, beers in the "man cave" room fridge, comfy pillows and blankets, multiple fireplaces, and more. If I ever do end up back in Iowa this is the only place I'll stay!

  • This home is lovely! The holiday decor was beautiful. The space was warm and inviting yet spacious; plenty of room for our large family gathering. Check-in/out was simple and easy. Sandy was immediately responsive to communication. The community was inviting. We found ourselves meeting with Santa in the fire station across the street and we were greeted by carolers in the late evening. We would love to return next year.

    Ann2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sandy's place is beautiful, inviting and oh so cozy! It's so much more than what the photos show! Lovely home with so much character. Tons of space and every inch is spotlessly clean. Everything you need, every detail is well-appointed. The decor is so fresh and modern: if you are "Joanna - minded" it will be right up your alley. And it was wall to wall decked out for Christmas. Every room, every nook and cranny. FABULOUS. Perfect place to host our family Christmas gathering in a centralized location for everyone. This place is the hidden gem of air b n b's.

    Wendi2019-12-14T00:00:00Z

  • This was our first time using Airbnb and staying At someone’s house. Way more then we expected. The hospitality was tremendously better then most hotels and the opportunity to make a new friend is even better. Would totally recommend Alice and her home.

  • It’s a great place to stay. Lovely environment.

    Sajith2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Alice provided a very cozy and comfortable stay at a great low price. My wife and I got in late so we didn’t have a chance to meet her, but the self-check in process kept that from being a problem and was very convenient. Would definitely recommend this to anyone passing through looking for a restful night in a peaceful suburb!

Experience the ambiance of this beautifully restored, 105 year old piece of history on Story Street. The original marble staircase leads to the lobby area on 2nd floor. Another flight of stairs completes the journey to a charming apartment complete with sleeping area, a full kitchen with dinette and a seating area. This apartment is across from the UP railroad so you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of trains passing through town in the night. Not handicap accessible. No elevator.
This unit is a restored studio apartment. It has a fully equipped kitchen, a sitting area, a sleeping area with a queen size bed, a built in armoire and a private 3-piece bathroom. It maintains all the charm of the year 1935 when the third floor of the building was converted from a lodge to studio apartments that were considered upscale at that time. No smoking. No pets. Quiet time begins at 10:00pm. Guest laundry on 2nd floor.
Reasons to stay at this Story Street Apartment.... We are just a couple blocks south of the historic Whistle Stop Cafe! Downtown Boone is a haven for those who love antiquities. A stroll down Story Street, antiquing, could take an entire day. Nearby, is a museum which is the birthplace of former first lady, Mamie Eisenhower. The Boone County History Center is located on Story Street and is located within walking distance from the Inn. Schedule an excursion or have a weekend dinner on the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad and visit the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum. McHose Park offers acres and acres of roads and trails for hiking, tennis courts, a swimming pool, Frisbee golf, The Canine Corral (a dog park) and lots of play areas for children. Ledges State Park is just a few miles from the building. Seven Oaks Recreation offers canoeing and kayaking in the summer and downhill skiing in the winter. The fully furnished apartment is just fifteen minutes from Ames, Iowa, where Iowa State University Cyclone events such as sports and concerts are held. While in Ames, visit the Furman Aquatic Center offering swimming and waterslides, Reiman Gardens and the museums and art centers at the University.
  • We were unable to make it to Boone due to a snowstorm. Brock very generously offered to let us come stay for free on another date! Very responsive throughout the booking process.

  • Historic charm with modern conveniences. With a comfortable bed and walking distance to shops and restaurants. I enjoyed my stay at Dixie and Brock's place.

    Jane2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay here. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and it was cozy and quiet with only the lull of one train going by ( at least one that I heard) the stairs weren't really that bad and helped us get some cardio in after eating at the really great Asian buffet down the street. We also smelled some wonderful aromas coming from the pizza place below, so we'll have to check that out next time we come.

  • Nostalgic experience in downtown Boone w view of vets memorial and train. Beautiful antique building well preserved. Furnishings were so welcoming and beautiful and comfy; especially pillows and bed. Tiny apartment just perfect for my needs. Kitchen nice to reheat leftovers for lunch.
