Places to stay in Big Bear Lake

Places to stay in Big Bear Lake
An Authentic Taste of the Old West, Overlooking a Peaceful Meadow and Towering Pines at the Sky Ranch.
This is a truly unique mountain home, for travelers who want to experience the spirit of a bygone age. Our carefully restored Gold Rush Cabin sits at 7,000 feet, surrounded by towering old Jeffrey pines. While nearly all the other homes in Big Bear Valley are packed tightly together, as soon as you turn into our private five-acre Sky Ranch, you can discover true seclusion. Step out onto the broad wooden porch of the Cabin, and you're looking at an alpine meadow which has changed little since the Serrano Indians first arrived here 3,000 years ago. There are no other homes within 300 feet -- and immediately adjacent to our ranch, you'll find the trails of the National Forest, winding through hundreds of square miles of pure nature. This home is quiet night and day, the perfect break from harried city life. The only sounds you're likely to hear are wind through the trees, and birds which glide from tree to tree. And when the brilliant colors of sunset subside, thousands of stars emerge to remind you of why the Milky Way got its name. The Cabin was built in 1870 to house a family during the days of the local Gold Rush, which featured such legendary characters as "Lucky Baldwin." After the paydirt ran out, the Gold Rush Cabin became the homestead of a Swiss woman, who bought it for $25 and called it home from 1915 until 1988. According to the listings at the Old Houses website, this appears to be the oldest wooden building in Southern California. Now it's ready for guests. ----------------------------------------------- * Yes, dogs can come too! See “Useful Notes” for details. * During holidays, we often ask a 3-night minimum stay. * For special events, see calendar at Big Bear website. ----------------------------------------------- You'd never know by looking at it, but the Cabin has been updated with such "modern luxuries" as electric lighting, a gas-fired heater, a wood-burning Earth Stove, a vintage propane cookstove, an antique claw-foot tub, a unique and eco-friendly composting toilet, wifi, and (yes) running water. Even with these amenities, this cabin is the most authentic Western experience that you're going to find without a Time Machine. If you want a relaxing vacation in the woods with a surplus of vintage charm, this is the place. The living room is unusually spacious for its era, and features a hand-built stone hearth and wood-burning fireplace. The kitchen's vintage cookstove still works as well as it did in 1930. Of course that's a different experience from a modern appliance, so we also have a microwave, toaster oven, coffeemaker, crockpot, and a small fridge. The Cabin features one main bedroom on the first floor, which holds a cozy full-size bed for two topped by a plush quilt. There's also a big upstairs loft, accessed by an old-fashioned ladder staircase, with two more large beds. If you prefer to avoid the stairs, there's a sofabed in the living room. For maximum comfort, we recommend no more than four adults. The back porch has chairs for relaxing, a charcoal BBQ, a table for dining, and an incredible view of meadow, forest, and sky. The Gold Rush Cabin offers the best of all seasons. When snow is on the ground, enjoy our perfect sledding hill, snowshoe, or cross-country ski. From Spring to Fall, you can practice yoga, hike the local trails, pitch horseshoes, try your hand at archery, cycle, or just relax on the back porch and enjoy pure nature. Some guests swear they can feel the spirits of the people who have lived in and around this historic structure. Is it real? You tell us. * * * The Gold Rush Cabin is adjacent to hundreds of square miles of forest. The famous Pacific Crest Trail, which stretches 2,663 miles from Canada to Mexico, passes just east of us. The Gold Rush Cabin is peaceful night and day -- a perfect retreat from the city. Even on big holiday weekends, you'll be completely isolated from traffic and crowds. You can enjoy a large hot tub, which sits 100 yards away at the very edge of the National Forest, offering a commanding view of trees and sky. In the Summer, the valley offers countless hiking trails, boating and fishing in the lake, mountain and road biking, horseback riding, golf, tennis, ziplining, the zoo, and many other outdoor activities. In Winter, there's skiing/boarding, snowshoeing, sledding, and more. For kids, there's a "fort," swings, and a huge sandbox in a boat. They're also welcome to help feed the chickens. That's always a big hit! Inside the Cabin, we offer board games, playing cards, materials for drawing, other arts & crafts, and a collection of vintage music boxes. We also have a telescope for stargazing. It's all waiting for you, just a couple hours from the center of the city. * * * About Town: The nearest stores and restaurants are within five minutes by car. The towns of Big Bear Lake and Fawnskin are 10 to 20 minutes, and offer scores of restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. There are also two supermarkets, multiple drug stores, and a hospital. Also within 15 minutes by car are... > Two ski and snowboard resorts, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, offering 26 lifts and 55 runs. There are excellent schools and family areas, as well as serious terrain parks and an Olympic-size halfpipe. This is where Shaun White learned to fly! > Big Bear's famous alpine lake, which offers fishing, all forms of boating, and other water sports. > Stanfield Marsh Boardwalk & Wildlife Preserve, where you can stroll the boardwalk, have a picnic in the gazebo, or just sit and enjoy the lake and mountain views. > The U.S. Forest Service Discovery Center, which offers a variety of nature programs. > A truly remarkable animal park -- one of only two alpine zoos in the U.S. -- housing grizzlies, wood bison, cougars, timber wolves, eagles, and much more. > Big Bear Valley Museum. Although you're staying in one of the rarest historical homes in California, the museum has some great exhibits as well, including an example of a stamp mill which was used to crush gold ore in the era when this cabin was built. > Bear Mountain Golf Course. At 7,000 feet, it's an entirely different game. For those who prefer a true wilderness adventure... The San Bernardino Mountains offer surprisingly spectacular terrain. While the Serranos have called these mountains home for many centuries, Europeans didn't venture into this rugged land till 165 years ago. It's one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world (in geological terms) and features scores of steep, challenging peaks, which stretch from the natural hot springs of Deep Creek in the west, to huge Yucca forests in the east. 11,500-foot Mount San Gorgonio, named by Spanish missionaries in the early 17th century, is at the center of the first designated wilderness area in America. Also known as "Old Greyback," San Gorgonio and the 11 surrounding peaks over 10,000 feet are home to an extremely rare herd of bighorn sheep. The headwaters of the Santa Ana and Mojave rivers offer premier wild trout streams such as Bear Creek, accessible only by foot. Hundreds of miles of unpaved National Forest roads offer every type of off-road experience -- ranging from an easy drive to Pioneertown, to the most radical 4WD trails imaginable (11 Difficults, six Most Difficults). The Cabin is right in the middle of the major routes. After a day here, you may find it hard to believe that you're just 100 miles (and perhaps a century) away from Downtown Los Angeles. Welcome. -------------------------------------------------- (See additional info below the Japanese.) -------------------------------------------------- Useful Notes: Many hosts vary rates depending on occupancy. To keep rates affordable for couples, our basic rates are for the first two people. To see the correct rate, be sure to select the correct number of adults and kids. Dogs are always welcome. We have a friendly Lab and Boxer mutt, and the spacious dog corral can be shared. However, we do ask guests to pay an added fee of $25 per pup per day. Pets aren't allowed on our bed coverings or furniture. If yours will climb up, please bring a clean sheet or blanket for them to lie on. Unfortunately, we can't accept cats. There are simply too many people who are allergic (including members of our family). Check-in time is 4 p.m., and check-out is 12 noon. If the calendar is open, you can add a block of four hours before or after the standard stay for a modest charge. A MAJOR advantage over many rental homes: You do NOT have to take your trash and recyclables in your car when you leave. (This is a surprisingly common and annoying requirement!) We provide cans where you can leave both trash and recyclables. There's a charcoal BBQ grill on the Cabin porch, and we offer self-lighting charcoal for sale at cost. (No lighter fluid allowed!) A gas BBQ is available at our home (1065 G Lane), which is about 500 feet from the Chalet. We also offer bundles of firewood at our cost. There is easy parking for any number of cars. RVs and trailers are no problem either. Cell phones on Verizon and Sprint will have coverage at the Cabin. The AT&T and T-Mobile networks still do not cover this area, however the wifi enables calls/texts on most phones, plus Netflix, Skype, and similar apps. There's a landline available if you require one. The public bus stop is a short walk. Surprisingly, it is possible to take public transit from any train station in SoCal all the way to our bus stop. Cheaper than driving, and no worries about weather. Ask us for details. If you want to borrow a telescope, just let us know! If you're bringing kids, let us know the ages. You may get a discount. :) For equestrians, we have a two-acre horse corral, plus hay barn and covered stall. No charge for guests. The wifi functions well on most devices in the cabin. If you like movies, we have a small Smart TV in the loft with a DVD player. You may want to bring some DVDs for that player (or to play on your laptop). During ski season, we provide one free self-starting "log" for the fireplace (and we have more which we provide at our cost). If you didn't bring firewood, you can purchase the wood that's next to the hearth for less than the big city price. The toilet is different (tall!), but saves a great deal of water and is easy to like once you learn the eco advantages. Sorry, outdoor fires are illegal, except in the steel fireplace behind the main house. ------------------------------------------------------------ Tip: AirBnB does not have great seasonal pricing tools, so if you're booking far in advance, you may not see correct rates. Just check with us. ;) ------------------------------------------------------------ Legal Note: Upon booking, you will gain access to the House Manual, which includes the rental contract for your stay. Be sure to familiarize yourself with all terms in advance.
This is one of the few rental homes in Big Bear that actually feels like a cabin in the mountains.
  • Mike’s cabin is like a portal that will take you to another time in history. Especially if you are from the city like I am. My partner and I (who is from Virginia) both had one of the best times of our life. The whole experience was pretty magical! I will say that if you are someone that prefers modern day luxuries (i.e central air/heat, dishwasher, flushing toilet, etc) this might not be the place for you. Mike is also very communicative and answered all of my questions without fail which was very appreciated. Once again, thank you so much Mike!

  • Really fun old cabin! Memorable experience for sure! We loved exploring the property :)

    Carla2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cute crazy little place! The upstairs loft was by far my favorite little hidden gem.

  • The hospitality, communication and attention to detail elevated the experience of staying at this Airbnb more than you could expect. The lodging itself was such a memorable property to stay at because of the historical aspects, but the hosts have gone above and beyond to make it a well-rounded vacation spot. For example, we didn’t have the best cell service, but it was really cool they were able to incorporate WiFi into this old house, which they didn’t have to go out of their way to provide. Our favorite things were the archery equipment, sleds, and swing in the backyard. We had a great time enjoying the outdoors and felt warm and comfortable inside the house even in the middle of winter. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for maintaining such a historic piece of property.

  • What a magical spot! The cabin is nestled right up to the mountain, surrounded by trees and a couple great sledding routes. The cabin is surrounded by more snow than most of the rest of the homes we drove by in Big Bear, which was a big plus since we were concerned there wouldn’t be snow when we were there. The cabin is very rustic- it’s definitely not your typical renovated rental. That’s part of the charm, but probably not for everyone. What the cabin provided us was a cozy, warm, charming spot for my family to bond and relax and make some fantastic memories. The sledding hill was perfect and we could not have asked for a better way to spend the days. We went into town for a bit but also enjoyed cooking and staying in. It was less than a 10 min drive into town when we needed to. Would recommend for anyone who doesn’t mind roughing it a bit but wants real charm and to get away from the crowds and the tourism of the Village. Thank you Mike!

  • If you want an authentic cabin experience in big bear, I highly recommend booking this cabin. It’s adorable, homey, private, close to town, fun amenities like archery and horse shoes. It was exactly what I wanted/needed to celebrate my 30th birthday... 10/10 :)

    Raychel2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this cabin! It has great unique touches and is on a very special plot of land with lots of privacy and access to nature. We went sledding with our 6 year old and had a blast. The kitchen has all the tools you need to make meals and we loved the claw foot big bath tub. The bed was softer than what we normally sleep on so that would be the only thing I’d change about the house. We came to town on a Thursday evening and the large chain grocery store was overwhelmed with people. Next time I would bring my own groceries or have dinner out or get delivery, then brave the store in the morning. Mike thoughtfully left what we would need in the morning (milk, coffee, oj, cereal bars and even chocolate) so we could have easily gotten by with that for the morning. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others!

  • My family had a wonderful time in the Teddy Bear cabin. The cabin is spacious and clean. There were 11 of us and we had plenty of room. All of the kids can't wait to go again.

  • Teddy bear cabin offers a warm and inviting family environment. The home is beautiful inside and out, very well maintained, cleanliness is a priority and is shows. The location is great. • Place was very clean and luxurious. Great location and great value. Loaded with everything. Thanks for having us!

  • Great stay, loved our location!

    Isaac2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • We rented the cabin for a family reunion and everyone was very happy with the place. It’s very close to town, great streets for taking the dogs on a walk, and the master bathroom is immaculate. There was communication with the owners through the whole stay and overall we are very happy with our trip! A quick note to renters... The “oil” that’s present is Crisco shortening and not what I would have in mind when thinking of cooking oil. Just bring your own. They do mention that the wood chips in the back are sharp and they’re not lying. One of our dogs split his paw just playing back there. It wasn’t a surprise at all since we knew, I’m just here to let you know to take it seriously! They also provided two dog beds, several dog toys, and water bowls! We brought our own, but the dogs loved the extras! We had so much fun as a family and would definitely stay again. They have firm rules, but I completely understand why. If you’re on the fence, definitely go for it!

Get $40 off your first stay! https://abnb.me/e/9N5LbIp8zZ?suuid=f7b924fc-9d5d-4601-acc5-f76e95f2a295&slevel=0 Our other cabin is Stōkhaus Chalet airbnb.com/h/stokhaus PLEASE NOTE: Narrow uphill driveway with steep approach is not ideal for full size/oversize vehicles (or the faint of heart)! 4wd recommended in winter conditions. 9' total width between concrete wall and railing. Enjoy extraordinary PANORAMIC views of the mountains and ski slopes at our renovated mid-century chalet, with decor inspired by our travels to Switzerland! The space is a thousand square feet with an open floor plan upstairs, large windows, and vaulted beam ceilings to bring nature indoors. Throw a log in the stone fireplace, stare out at the incredible views, and create lasting memories. At night, star gazing from the deck will take you away. Enjoy cooking in the modern kitchen or do some grilling on the deck while taking in the fresh mountain air! Downstairs you'll find two small bedrooms, where they stay toasty and warm due to central heating. Both bedrooms have a queen memory foam mattress on a log frame bed with down pillows, down comforter with cotton duvet, and wool blanket. Bedroom 2 also has a twin roll-away bed stored in the closet which can unfold to sleep a child. There is one jack-and-jill bathroom downstairs that is shared between (and accessed from) the two bedrooms. The bathroom layout places the sink and shower in one compartment and the toilet and laundry in another compartment, with a pocket door separating the two areas of the bathroom to add some privacy. Upstairs you'll find the common areas under our high ceilings. There is a large sectional sleeper sofa in the living room that will comfortably seat all of you when you binge-watch Netflix on a snow day. The sleeper sofa is brand new with a queen memory foam mattress. We have plenty of extra pillows and blankets to keep you cozy. There is also a full bathroom with tub located next to the living room. The dining table overlooks the view and was custom made by us out of solid hickory. Two benches and two eames-style chairs will seat all of you when dining in. A flatscreen 4K Roku Smart TV in living room with Smart BluRay player will allow you to access our personal digital movie library, Netflix, as well as your accounts with Hulu, Prime, HBO Go etc. We have both plug-in speakers and portable bluetooth speakers for jamming out. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking supplies and utensils. Linens and towels are provided. Other features include charcoal BBQ grill/smoker, wood burning fireplace, washer/dryer, microwave, dishwasher, wireless high speed internet, tv in one bedroom with built-in DVD/VHS and classic movies. You like games? We have a foosball table, playing cards, puzzles, and board games including Apples to Apples, Sequence, Monopoly, Scrabble, and Sorry. Out back we have a fun rope swing, string lights, and tree stumps for hanging out in the shade of our giant tree, Snuffy! Please note we do not have air conditioning - you won't find AC in typical 1960s mountain cabins and it's rarely hot enough. For warmer summer days, you can open windows to take advantage of the natural cross breezes from our hilltop, augmented by our 3 portable fans. Your well-behaved and house-trained pooch is welcome with a $20 one-time pet fee per dog. The front deck is a great perch for Fido to overlook the neighborhood and watch the birds and squirrels, but be advised the back yard is not fenced and the neighborhood is visited by coyotes. Don't leave your pet unattended. The steep uphill driveway can park 2 cars in tandem, provided they can all fit. At 108" wide between wall and railing, it is difficult for full size trucks and SUVs to unload. We recommend vehicles up to 74" in width. 4wd is ideal and low clearance vehicles are discouraged due to steep approach from street. Ask if you're unsure whether your car will be suitable. 1 vehicle can park at the bottom of the driveway before the railing starts, but it's a steep walk up with all your luggage.
From inside the cabin it feels very secluded. But we are in a residential area with other homes on all sides. Located in the Moonridge neighborhood, guests will love the peace and quiet, mountain and treetop views, birdwatching, moonrises, and stargazing. This residential neighborhood has some of the best views in town, thus many of the properties have steep terrain and steep driveways like ours. You won't have to deal with traffic on Big Bear Blvd heading to the resorts on snow days, as we're super close to the Bear Mtn shuttle lot.
  • Sara and Eric's place was an absolute gem! My husband and I stayed for a romantic getaway and was so happy we found this home. The scenery from the balcony was breathtaking. Thank you Sara & Eric for being such great hosts!

    Kim2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin located near everything. Wonderful views of the slopes from the cabin. Sara and Eric are great hosts who will help with any questions you might have and give great local tips. Definitely recommend.

    Armando2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sara was very communicative and checking in was easy! Would definitely stay again!

    Kevin2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • WOW is all I can say! After years (yes, years) of admiring Treehaus Chalet on Instagram and Airbnb, my husband our Staffy, Bronx, and I finally had the opportunity to come and stay for 5 amazing days. It was exactly as expected and as shown in all the photos...with the views even better in-person! A huge plus was that it's dog-friendly...and finding a really fun, unique place to stay can be difficult with a fur baby sometimes. Bronx was very appreciative! The cabin was fully stocked with kitchen essentials, which was perfect since we love to cook. Plus enjoying a meal with the mountains as the perfect backdrop can't be beat! We came here to prepare for a huge trip (hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in April which runs through Big Bear), so having such an inspiring view and place to stay was just what the doctor ordered. From the ski decor, to the foosball table, to the stylish touches of pillows, blankets, rugs and fabrics, to the stone fireplace and to Snuffy the tree with the macrame rope swing, nothing could get better than this! In fact, we loved the living room space so much that we ended up sleeping on the couch 3 out of the 4 nights we were there haha! (We are notorious for this as we're suckers for a comfy couch.) The location was fantastic and right in the middle of everything we love in Big Bear: hitting up Murray's in the Village on one side, to heading to the Fawnskin side of the lake to take our dog to play, take our truck on the Holcomb Valley back roads and hike. It's also an incredible location to Bear Mountain...though we didn't hit the slopes as we are saving any potential injuries until after we finish the PCT. ;) Sara and Eric were so quick to respond and you can tell they truly love sharing Treehaus Chalet with the world. We were so impressed that they put together a house manual filled with every local coffee shop, bar and restaurant's menus to scope out your next snack or meal. It was so hard for us to have to leave as our time there flew by SO fast. I can't recommend this place enough. To EVERYONE reading this review - stop looking and just BOOK IT! You can thank us later. :)

    Courtney2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is awesome! Great view and perfect for a weekend getaway. Definitely coming here again.

    Joshua2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this place! Very cozy with a beautiful view of the mountains. We didn’t want to leave! Made for a great weekend getaway.

    Doug2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, great area, great hosts... highly recommended.

    Dana2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Tree Haus Chalet was the perfect getaway for us. It had breathtaking views and was quiet. We (my husband, daughter and I ) enjoyed playing foosball, board games and sitting on the balcony or the chair swing. I couldn’t get over the beautiful views each day from the balcony. The place was clean and cozy. All instructions and communication was very clear and Sara ans Eric were available if we needed anything. This place is close to many restaurants, coffee, donuts and skiing/tubing/snowboarding. We would love to come back one day.

  • Awesome cabin! If you’re looking for a cozy little place to stay the weekend in, then this is it. They have everything you need to be off to a good start. I usually come up to ride but this trip was just for relaxing, and that’s exactly what we did! The jacuzzi is definitely nice during those colder nights. The furnace is a warming touch that can get the cabin cookin if you maintain the fire! Recommend!

    Jerritt2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved this little cabin! It’s so cute and cozy! It’s close to the village and restaurants. The Uber’s were only about $10 bucks each way which was very nice and convenient. The hot tub is the best part ! We enjoyed a glass of wine out in the hott tub. There’s beautiful lights above as well that set a great ambiance. • We had a great stay at the cabin! It's super cozy and had everything we needed. It's in a woodsy neighborhood which we loved, but it's also super close to the town center - best of both worlds! Marc and Esther were very responsive hosts and we'd stay at their place again in a second!

    Carly2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an excellent stay at Marc an Esther's place. We spent most of our days enjoying the fresh air, making fires, enjoying the hot tub, and feeling cozy in the loft. Fast internet speeds along with Netflix made our stay even more enjoyable.

  • Ben’s cabin is in an excellent location for slope enthusiasts. Combine that with the hot tub and homie feels of the cabin, it really is a nice place to kick it after a day at the slopes. A “family style” cabin designed for what it’s capacity says (10 people).

    Scott2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Super close to the mountain and surrounding grocery stores and restaurants. Hot tub/patio area is a great social space and my friends and I had a hard time leaving the space.

That will be done BEFORE you arrive to surprise your partner. We’ve done these packages, they look fantastic, and we don’t show images for a reason. We want both of you to be surprised and guarantee you will love everything and rejuvenate in a luxurious cabin for a romantic trip to remember. Frequently Asked Questions Q: How do I book the package? A: Any time during your booking process send us message with the preferred package number. We will confirm your inquiry with the additional payment request after your reservation is made. Q: Your tub looks hot, we love how you lay petals and thinking to get one of the packages. Will our tub be designed the same when we arrive at your cabin? A: Your tub will be nice and clean before you arrive, won’t have water in it and with bubbles and stuff. After all, we want you to have hot tub, not cooled tub. Quick Tip: You may get just the petals from our local florist, the whole bag for about ten dollars. We poured some foaming bath and laid the petals around. Don't forget to add some bath salt too - it is good for your body ;) Q: We saw red petals on your pictures but in the packages you offer white. Is it a typo? A: We offer only white petals for your romance package because red petals would mark the bedding since we create a nice design on your bed out of the petals. But if you like red petals in your tub, feel free to pick up a bag from the florist and do your thing. Q: Why decorate our tub with led candles and not use real wax ones, aren't you for "authentic look and feel"? A: Yes, we are, but at the same time we think about your safety. Besides that, hot wax will be dripping down the tile and stone and then needs to be scrubbed off (tested). So if you want to have a piece of mind on your vacation, led candles will create that ambiance, care free soaking experience and add a ton of safety. Contact us for any questions on romance packages and feel free to request special instructions for the card note. So join us and experience the wonders of Big Bear Lake. This stay will be your unforgettable memory.
Our house is located 1 minute (10 minutes by walk) away from The Village - charming shopping and entertainment neighborhood on beautiful Big Bear Lake. With several dozens of local vendors, the district can satisfy your every shopping wish in just one stop! Find delicious eats throughout the Village, including a couple of Indian cuisine, Italian restaurant and high end The Bone Yard Bar & Grill.

  • The cabin was perfect, me and my girlfriend loved the style of the house and set up. We enjoyed all the offerings the host gave and even enjoyed the little chocolates kisses left. The little details were taken care of so the bigger details were even better. Thank you Lovey-Dovey.

  • There is a public review page, good. Stay here. It’s a beautiful cabin, located a short walk from everything you’ll need. The jacuzzi-tub in the room is wonderfully comfortable and the television swivels to allow for a nice movie in the spa. There’s a fireplace in the room, too, which added so much to the ambience. The details in the place were cool, too. I liked the blinds at the backdoor. Also, I’ve stayed at three Airbnbs with the electric trash can, but this is the only one of them that worked. The owners care about your stay. They responded to us very fast and helped make our honeymoon a great time. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

  • Simply stated, "AWESOME!". My wife and I had a fantastic weekend, Lovey-Dovey's cabin exceeded our expectations in all categories! The cabin is close to town, a short walk to all of the shops and restaurants, and close to everything else that Big Bear has to offer! The cabin itself has upgraded everything and is perfect for a romantic weekend getaway or a longer stay! The owners went above and beyond to communicate with us to ensure that everything went smoothly, nothing was missed! We've been to Big Bear many times over the past 20 years, the Lovey-Dovey cabin has by far been the best Big Bear experience for us yet, we'll be back!

  • Stay here! Super cute little cabin in a lovely area. The host is AMAZING. Great communication from beginning to end and the place was sparkling clean and fully loaded with everything you could ever hope for and more! When we first pulled up I was a bit shocked it was so small, but it was NOT lacking in the slightest. The space is organized so thoughtfully, from a fully stocked kitchen to great amenities and tips for the area. The hot tub is great, and very easy to use. The bed is super comfy, best sleep I’ve had in a while! And the fireplace is gorgeous, even if you’ve never started your own fire there are detailed instructions for your safety that make the fireplace easy to use. (Note: firewood and fire starters are not provided but you can buy them down the street for pretty cheap). The cabin is very easy to find, and the area itself is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately we found ourselves down here during the beginning of the COVID-19 panic when most public places started closing, but we took a drive around the lake and spent some time on the trails and still had an amazing time appreciating the breathtaking views! This place is 10/10, from the host to the location, down to every little thoughtful detail that’s been put into your stay. It’s the perfect couples’ getaway, we will be back!

  • Such a wonderful home. So clean and updated. The hot tub was also super clean. Close to everything in town but also still a secluded and cozy location😊 loved the tips on where to go around town. Castle rock trail was a great hike. Definitely recommending this home to any friends that need a few days to escape!

  • This a wonderful cabin. Perfect for a couple or small family (2-4 persons). Close to Big Bear, minutes from the slopes and shopping. Everything works as expected. Check in was easy. The hot tub was nice and toasty with easy to understand directions. The back patio has a table and chairs. The TV has Roku with a few channels including Netflix. It snowed during our trip. It was nice to be parked in the carport, it made loading and unloading luggage convenient and dry. We definitely would love to stay in this cabin again. Thank you Daniel for providing such a wonderful cabin to relax and enjoy all that Big Bear has to offer.

Lamplight Cabin was built in 1947 and still has its original hardwood floors. It sits on a small hill, framed by pine trees. When the sun has set and you start a log in the fireplace, the cabin glows.
  • This place was amazing, super close to everything yet very remote and quiet. We had plenty of privacy and they had everything we needed. The fireplace was perfect as it was snowing the minute we got there, and the hot tub was so cozy. Everything was sparkling clean, and so tastefully decorated. They provide plenty of blankets and the beds were very comfortable. Loved it, will come back.

Enjoy the mountains by ski, board, foot, boat or bike. You'll want to come home to this Scandinavian Hideaway by day's end. While relaxing in the hammock, dining on the deck, or nestling by the fire you can retreat and rejuvenate. Unwind as the light of the sun setting paints the two story window wall. The 22' ceilings beside the painted wood walls Grab a bike or just a heated towel; sit on a sled or a heated toilet seat or just take some wood from the shed and build a fire. Nordik Eskape has both adventure and intimacy. See more @nordik_eskape
This cabin was renovated by a Swedish Interior Designer and an American Architect.
The cabin is four miles from Bear Mountain Resort, with Snow Summit and the Village just a little further. It's only two blocks from the Community Market, a local favorite. Activities include skiing, hiking, climbing, biking, zip-lining, and boating.
  • My girlfriend and I came to this Nordic escape for our anniversary and it was more than we could ask for! Amazing location nestled between the slopes and some great hiking trails! Peggy and Chris were made us feel welcome and were there whenever we had questions. Will definitely be booking again.

    Colin2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay up in Big Bear at the Nordic Eskape! Everything was as advertised and I would definitely stay there again. Hosts were thoughtful and attentive! No complaints here.

  • Peggy & Christopher's place is the perfect getaways for a couple. The place is extremely well put together with an amazing style. My wife did not wanted to leave the place. It is close to the slopes (˜10min drive) and to the Village (˜15min drive). We could not have asked for a better place to stay and will definitely go back when we have the chance.

    Guilherme2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Peggy and Christopher’s place is lovely. They have done a great job making the place stylish, warm and appealing. We were very pleasantly surprised how many amenities they pack into a relatively small space, too. As a result we felt very much at home during our 2 day stay, and would definitely highly recommend Nordik Eskape to anyone considering Big Bear. In addition, Peggy and Christopher were highly responsive to all our communications both before and during our stay. All in all, a great place to stay!

    Sue2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very cozy, felt like home! My wife and I stayed here with our 10-month old baby, and it was very comfortable.

  • Peggy and Christopher were very good about getting back to us whenever we had a question. The house was very clean and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to friends and family.

Tucked away with miles of National Forest and trails as its backyard, yet just minutes from all that Big Bear has to offer–hiking, skiing, and restaurants. - Mid-century modern & retro style furniture - Sleeps 5 - Walk-off access into the National Forest from deck with miles of hiking trails - Cozy, wood burning fireplace w/ gas starter - 8" overhead rain shower - Quiet neighborhood on dirt road - Perfect retreat from the city - 4 burner propane outdoor BBQ grill - Absolutely NO PETS
This isn't your Aunt Sally's stuffy cabin. Tastefully upgraded and decorated with vintage and modern mid-century style furniture, Treehouse Vibes has a style that sets it apart from anything else you've seen in Big Bear. Follow along on Instagram: @bigbeartreehouse Wander directly into the forest from the large, wrap-around deck and truly explore Big Bear in what feels like your own private forest. There is a trailhead no more than 200ft away from the cabin which has two different hiking trails to take – Both are beautiful and you rarely run into anyone else out there. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes, and silverware you'll need - just bring your ingredients and get cooking. Enjoy your meal inside where there is comfortable seating for 4 or, if the weather is nice, walk outside to eat surrounded by the tall pines on the large back deck. The bathroom is equipped with an incredibly relaxing rain shower that feels amazing after a long day at the slopes or on the hiking trail. Treehouse Vibes has two spacious bedrooms. The master bedroom at the back of the cabin has a queen-sized bed and a panoramic window that looks out into the National Forest. The second bedroom is in the loft area and has a full-sized bed and mattress. The loft is generously lit by the cabin's front windows, while tall pines surround the cabin to provide natural privacy – I think feels a lot like sleeping in a treehouse. For extra sleeping space, take the back cushions off the daybed in the living room, revealing a twin-sized sleeping area. There's also a full-size air mattress complete with extra sheets and an electric air pump if you'd prefer - you can find it in the closet in the loft bedroom. Get a fire going and relax in the open living room. You can AirPlay or plug your phone or music device directly into a pair of speakers that fill the cabin with crystal clear sound. I've designed the living room to facilitate conversation and enjoying the company of those you're with. Because of this, I've chosen not to have a TV at the cabin. But if you're craving it, the high speed wifi can get you all the online streaming you can handle. My cabin is located a short, 13 minute drive from the ski slopes at Bear Mountain Resort and a 14 minute drive to the lively Big Bear Village with all its restaurants and shops. You'll also be close to many restaurants and a peaceful, 7 minute walk through the neighborhood to a convenience store (yes, they do sell liquor and beer). The cabin is located so that you can avoid much of the traffic on Big Bear Blvd during the busy season by taking beautiful back roads, enjoying the scenery and looking at other great cabins in the area.
The cabin is tucked-away on a cul-de-sac street and hidden among the tall pines. The neighborhood is usually quite quiet. There are neighbors on either side, however, these are both vacation homes without full-time tenants. There are a total of 5 other cabins on the road and all of the neighbors are extremely friendly, so don't feel shy if you run into them!
  • Very stylish tree house and even more beautiful when it’s snowing

"I've been in a thousand cabins on this mountain, and I've NEVER seen one as nice as THIS one!!" That's what a local contractor said about our cabin, and he is right! Gorgeous cabin, very affordable.
  • Great spot for a weekend getaway! The cabin was spacious and cozy, we enjoyed the wood log fire place at night. The backyard was spacious and at a slope, would have been great for sledding if there were snow. We still enjoyed the jacuzzi, very clean and well kept. Overall great place, host responded extremely fast!

  • Amazing spot! One of my best airbnb experiences. Awesome host too!

    Tony2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was perfect for my family of 9 the bunk beds and two other rooms were spacious, the living space was nice and the hot tub was a huge hit with the kids.. it was snowing and the kids were able to sled down the little hill in the backyard which was so much fun and a nice touch so we didn’t have to leave home for sledding! Absolutely, loved this place!!

    Arturo2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I spent our third anniversary at one of Cathy’s Cottages, and we had a delightful time. The space was very clean and well maintained, all of the amenities worked as advertised, and our hosts were very hospitable and easy to get in touch with. We would highly recommend booking with sleepy forest resorts the next time you need a getaway!

  • Super cute spot with a giant tub. Give it about 30-40 mins to fill up to be able to use the jet, but plenty of hot water. Close to everything, great location.

Super cool treetop escape. Just a short climb up to a modernized loft bedroom cabin with a wall of windows. Hideaway feel above the pines with views of the ski slopes and surrounding mountains. Relax in the private spa after a day of hiking, biking or the slopes.
It's like you're living in a treehouse among the pines in this remodeled loft bedroom, one bath cabin located in lower MoonRidge, close to all big bear attractions. There are about 20 steps up from the two car parking area to the main deck and first floor the cabin. A wall of windows provides views of the surrounding mountains, ski slopes, and treetops as far as the eye can see. There is a queen bed in the loft bedroom which opens to the view windows. The main level has a living room with a two-person futon and TV with Wi-Fi and a fully equipped kitchen with dining for four persons. There is one bathroom on the main level with toilet, sink and glass enclosed shower. A large sliding glass door opens onto the front view deck with two comfortable chairs. The back deck has a private Jacuzzi and barbecue.
The cabin is situated on a small hillside which gives it its unique location and breathtaking views. The neighborhood is lower MoonRidge, near the golf course and the Fox Farm area, just a few minutes drive to the supermarkets, the village, the lake, hiking trails, OHV roads, and the best skiing and snowboarding in Southern California. There are about 20 steps from the two car parking area up to the cabin so it is not recommended if you're not up to hiking a few stairs to get to your ultimate destination. This is definitely one case where the reward is worth the effort.
  • Great Stay! Driveway is a little dicey but that's about it. House is located on a hill for great views and privacy. Check-in and communication with Doug was effortless. Clean, cozy and perfect for a couple; will be back.

    Michael2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Doug was a fantastic host! He was always just a phone call away and responds almost immediately. Stayed here for just 2 nights and I absolutely regretted it.....I should have booked at least 3!!! Nice house in a nice quiet neighborhood. Fantastic get away from the hustle and bustle of city life!

    Benjamin2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Doug's place was great for a short trip to ski/snowboard! The scenic view and hot tub are nice bonuses!

    Michael2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was outstanding, the location was perfect for going anywhere in town without hassle and the views and feel of the whole house was calming and rustic. Best way I can describe it is the pros of being in a cabin in the woods and all the up to date amenities of living in a modern home.

    Theodore2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • A super cozy place, ready to spend as a couple

    Rene2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Doug was a great host! He greeted us with some extra towels and a few other things we needed! He gave us tips to all of hot spots in big bear! The location was PERFECT. The village was only a few mins away! Bear mountain was very close as well. The cabin is very cute and comfortable. We loved the big windows and the fire place. It was very cozy! Thank you Doug! We will be back!

We originally booked for two, but the morning of check in asked to add two more people and he allowed us to. The neighborhood is so beautiful, and central to everything we wanted to do (tubing, Summit, and a bunch of cute restaurants). Will definitely stay here next time we’re in Big Bear!! :)

  • It was a very cozy nice place

    Jesus2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was the perfect getaway for 2 people, but also has space for 4, if needed. My wife and I stayed here for a weekend with all our snowboards and adventuring gear. The cabin sits in a perfect location thats accessible to all areas of Big Bear with little driving time to the locations we visit. Most importantly the host was very responsive with any questions I had leading up to and during our stay. Check-in was super easy and checking out was even easier. The pictures provided by the host represent the cabin perfectly and if you’re looking for that cozy mountain feel, then this cabin provides that perfectly. The only thing I would say that might be a negative for some (like my wife) is the cabin can get a bit cold even with the heat on. The cabin does provide a traditional wood fire place, a heater in the bathroom and a wall based heater for the living room, but it takes a little while to get the heat to a temperature that my wife was willing to get out of the bed for. Other than that, we have zero complaints about this cabin and would highly recommend this location to family and friends.

  • This cabin is so comfortable. We felt just at home. It's just off Big Bear Blvd, which is the main commercial street for Big Bear, but also far enough off the road and up a hill so it felt secluded. The fireplace was so comfortable. The love seat was comfortable. The bed was very comfortable with nice sheets and comfortable comforter. It was myself and girlfriend and small dog. The cabin size was perfect for us and it was so warm with the furnace and fireplace. This cabin was everything we needed and spent most of our trip in it. Felt just at home.

They helped us get the ice and snow off the car and even shoveled a path for us. The place itself was clean and there were towels and coffee for us. The bed was very soft and sinks in slightly but it was still very comfortable. Overall, I would stay here again!

  • The place was perfect! I had some issues trying to figure it out how to turn on the fire place, but they were able to help me out with it very quick, it had to do with the thermostat being on which wasn’t. Other than that, hot tub worked perfectly, there is a balcony which we enjoyed in the morning with a cup of coffee. Everything very cozy and nice. Looking forward to stay there again!

  • This place is everything you see in the pictures and more! Such a cozy atmosphere and its super clean. Great place for a bigger family or for a couple of families. Plenty of parking and plenty of rooms. Also nicely decorated. Very inviting. We enjoyed every minute there. Hope to be back one day.

  • Excellent Big Bear experience! We stayed here with 3 families and four kids and everyone had space for themselves. With three levels, there is plenty of space to be together and also spread out. Comfortable rooms, they have done a good job of dispersing heat. Plenty of seating in the family room and large kitchen. Excellently stocked kitchen, easy to cook for large families. Only upgrade I would add and notice to next users is to bring more bath towels and any extra blankets you may want. Overall a great weekend, and we were lucky enough to get fresh snow on our weekend! Would love to return to this cabin.

    Michelle2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful house interior. Love the pine walls throughout the house, modern shower and rooms with their own tv. Remember me and my buddy telling each other that this is exactly how I want my house.

Thank you for all the help and hospitality. I will definately share and try to come back with more friends! Thank you Cabin4Less!

  • I’ve stayed here a few times and loved it each time! Best for the price and it’s always been clean and quiet. I usually need a crash pad between snowboarding and a place for my pup to stay, always exceeds expectations and ended up staying an extra couple nights. Everyone seems very friendly and helpful. 10/10

Fully renovated Chic yet Rustic Modern Cabin centrally located in town. One block from the lake, 3 blocks to the village and a mile from Snow Summit. Great all year round rental! With a comfortable feel this great cabin is dog friendly, has wifi & smart TV. Surrounded by trees and your own extra large private deck to star gaze at night or have a BBQ with your friends & family. Near by bike, kayaks & boat rentals. This smaller yet cozy cabin sleeps 8-10 comfortably or 12 with a air mattress.
During this time of need with the Coronavirus rest assured as your host I’ve taken proper precaution to assure my guests that my cabins are cleaned throughly with each stay. They are completely sanitized so that you’ll have a germ free environment to stay in. Instagram IG: Big Bear Serenity Cabins... Links to four different cabins on this lot... https://abnb.me/EVmg/SzagHH8ycJ https://abnb.me/EVmg/44PjlePBtI https://abnb.me/EVmg/OT3fNtQBtI https://abnb.me/EVmg/nsGJgKdvvI This cabin has an amazingly cozy feel with the full Big Bear Cabin ambiance. I bring my friends and family here all year long to enjoy and build memories. During the Spring, Summer & Fall months Outdoor games including horse shoes, bean bag toss, Jenga & more are provided by request prior to your stay. Center courtyard for all to share includes a hammock, fire pit, gazebo with chairs, BBQ & projection movie theater. Great for families, large parties & couples. Plenty to keep you entertained in having a great time. All except BBQ available during the Spring, Summer & Fall months. This is a 3 bedroom cabin. The Master bedroom is quite spacious. It's upstairs with a queen size bed and a couch that pulls out to a full size bed. You're able to sleep 4 guest in total upstairs. Downstairs you have two bedrooms. One front bedroom that has a full size bed that sleeps 2 and the back bunk bed room that sleeps 2. *This home comfortably sleeps 10. There is a queen size air mattress that sleeps two that you can place in the living room if the coffee table is moved. * If you sleep in the back bunkbed room please leave both the bathroom door and bedroom door open. The heat will flow nicely back there with the doors open. Otherwise the heat will not heat up that room. * Also please be very careful on the stairs and do not run down them. As they are quite steep and can be slippery. *This cabin has only one bathroom that you enter through the living room. The back bunk room also has a door that enters into the bathroom from the other side. If you have any other questions that pertain to the layout of my cabin, please feel free to ask. *My cabin is better suited for 8-10 people as you can sleep up to 12 if you bring an extra air mattress and you squeeze them in. It just depends on the parties preference and how close in proximity they'd like to be with their guest. This is a smaller three bedroom. The pictures show the cabin true to size with no trick photography. Wifi being in the mountains can be very weak and unavailable in certain areas of Big Bear Lake. I pay for and provide it to my guest although I have no control over the strength of it.
The cabin is located down the street from Snow Summit Ski Resort for all of your skiing and snow boarding pleasures. Just a three minute drive away. One block to Big Bear Lake & park including sand volleyball, basketball, playground, baseball field, dog park and more. This amazing cabin is also located just three blocks to the village for all of your shopping, dining, movies, zip lining, paddle boarding, boating, kayaking, biking fishing. This woodsy area is located neselled in the national forest among neighbors and ample trees. Unlike most cabins in Big Bear, there is plenty of hiking and mountain biking. You don't have to drive anywhere... .................................................................................................................................... Places to eat in Big Bear... My Favorite restaurants 572 Social - 572 Pine Knott Ave. In the Village. My favorite place. Real cool ambiance for lunch or dinner with live music. Great blueberry lemon drop Martini's & yummy IPA's. The Salmon and the Risotto are my favorite. Great hummus platters & poke tacos for apps. Pet friendly! Peppercorn Grille - 553 Pine Knott Ave. In the Village for fine dining. Saucy Mama's - In the Village, towns favorite pizza & cool bar. Grizzly Manor - 41268 Big Bear Blvd two blocks away. Towns favorite for breakfast. Known for their huge portions & gigantic pancakes. My son loves the biscuits and gravy with hot coco. (If on a weekend, go early the place gets packed with a long wait.) only downfall is that it's a small restaurant and gets pretty warm in their with all the cooking. Big Bear Local - 41003 Big Bear Blvd. Walking distance from my cabin. The best poke and chicken bowls in town with a Hawaiian flair. Their tropical tea is to die for. Kauai bowl is my favorite. Serves lunch mostly. Go early as they run out of poke by 2-3. Big Bear Lake Brewery Company - 40827 Stone Road. In the Village. Great selection of beers, food and great poke dish. The beer sampler was really good. Dynasty Chinese - 40989 Big Bear Blvd. Great Chinese food that will deliver. Royal Thai Cafe - 40766 Village Dr. Great Thai food in the Village. They deliver as well. Dominos Pizza delivery - Big Bear Blvd. Local Bars Murray's Salon, Eatery & karaoke - 672 Cottage Lane. On a side street in the Village. The local bar for Big Bear. Great for people watching. You'll get your local mountain people and out of Towners. Whiskey Daves - They usually have live music on the weekend. The bar is much larger than the normal bar and usually a lot of fun.

  • My friends and I had a great stay! The house got super warm so we slept well and didn’t worry about cold water at all. Kitchen utensils were all there and the spice collection was amazing! We loved watching the snow out from the balcony and waking up with zero noise. It was super comfortable:)

  • Great location! Walking distance to the slopes. It was perfect for my family of four. There were board games, cards, and a puzzle which was nice to have for the evenings. I was very impressed with Chase’s hospitality and quick response to needing some cleaning spray and he went the extra mile with the request and added some hot chocolate which my kids enjoyed. I would definitely stay again.

  • Great location! The townhouse is right there at Snow Summit with a nice view of the base of Summit Run from the living room and master bedroom. It’s a 2-5 min walk to the nearest chairlift. Our family of four was very comfortable.

Come stay at this Snowasis of Calm, where you're near hiking, a 1/2 mi. to Big Bear mountain and a short bike ride to Summit mtn ... Aptly named, you'll find this charming A-frame the perfect mountain getaway. The cabin is about 620 sq. ft., and equipped with linens, WiFi, Roku (Netflix & Hulu Plus, HBO, Showtime and PBS Kids), Smart Home automation and fully appointed (cookware, dishes, etc...). Great off-street parking with room for 2 cars, RV and boat. Classic local stone fireplace and real wood interiors. Surrounded by tall timber this real Big Bear cabin was a family retreat for over 35 years and shows pride of ownership. Queen bed in bedroom and queen pull out sofa in living room. • We loved this cabin. It was so cozy, warm and peaceful. I loved the couch! So comfortable and perfect for lounging around. It was a great size for just the two of us. It had everything we needed. Clearly it was cleaned very well before we got there.

  • Stayed for a 2 day snowboard trip! Just as advertised it’s about an 8 min. Drive to the slopes or less. It’s located in a quiet area that’s near everything you’ll need. It’s the perfect size for 2. Charles supplies pretty much everything you’ll need to cook some quick meals. It was a bit chilly in there but the heaters works well! We always travel with our own toiletries and blankets so we were fine but if you’d like some extra comfort you can bring your own blankets and remember this isn’t a hotel so you should bring your own toiletries too. It was a very pleasant stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

    Kaitlyn2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great spot for any Big Bear trip! Close to the shops downtown, skiing, and the lake, it's the perfect home base. We especially loved having our dog there, and the fenced in backyard made things even easier!

    Vanessa2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This little Airbnb is absolutely quaint. I loved the decor and the cleanliness. The location is great too! A short walk to the coffee shop as well as a few other shops. Big Bear Village is within a couple of miles. Checkin was super easy, and Charles was prompt to respond to me. Good options available for entertainment (tv, games, books). The bed dipped a bit in the center which made it a tad uncomfortable but perhaps the base shifted.? We loved relaxing on the couch because it was super comfy and we had a nice view of beautiful trees!
